I loved the fried broccoli and whatever cheese sauce that came with it, and I liked the hint of lemon. The wedges were also very good. As for the fried chicken, I don't think I'm a fan. It tastes like it was smoked first and then fried. I'll order again, just not the fried chicken. Their chicken sandwiches look really good, though.

This was my first time at Big’s Chicken! This is a great spot to stop if you’re in downtown Beaverton. The food was great and they have a variety to offer. I got the mashed potato bowl and my friend got the popcorn chicken. The bowl was good but the chicken was great (I tried some)! The popcorn chicken came with a side of their ranch that blew me away! Some of my favorite ranch ever and that’s saying something. The service was quick and the food got to us quickly. There weren’t a lot of customers when I arrived so that might have helped. Regardless they were super nice about it. The staff was also very kind to a houseless individual that came in while I was there and I appreciated that greatly. The ambiance of the restaurant is great as well! The decor is fun and has a general automobile theme. They have a lot of TVs too which I didn’t mind or care for, but if you’re looking for a place to watch the next game this is the spot! Overall, if you’re in downtown Beaverton this is a great spot to stop!

Google
Their chicken wings are top tier. Super crispy on the outside and fall off the bone juicy on the inside. The rub they use is phenomenal and all their dipping sauces are so good! Their sides are delicious too! We eat here frequently and they never disappoint.

Google
Fried chicken wings and lemon pepper chicken bites were excellent. Great place for some quick bites, drinks, and cocktails. Their menu has good variety of options to choose from. Definitely coming back to explore more options

Google
Kids meals are good my sons love them. The grilled brocclini is good and comes with pimento cheese. I ordered Togo and everything was hot and accurate. They have different sauses you can try. The cornmeal pancakes are good too and not to sweet.

Google
This location is pretty spacious with lots of seating and also a few outside tables. We came for a quick snack and noticed that they have a happy hour menu now. We decided to get the hh wings, nachos, smashburger, and a whole grilled chicken. The food came out pretty sick and everything was pretty good. The happy hour is normally 2-5pm and all day on Mondays.

Google
Yayyy, I have a new favorite spot for chicken! On a recommendation from a co worker I finally got a chance to visit Big's Chicken and was not disappointed. The smoked and fried wings were amazing, the jojos were seasoned and crisp, and the slaw and black eyed pea salad were fresh and vibrant. Also, the white gold and Fresno sauces were so yummy! Conveniently located in historic downtown Beaverton, the restaurant is fully accessible for people with disabilities. Give them a visit!

Google
Pretty solid chicken place in the Beaverton area and it's somewhere I'd return, although so far I think I've found places that have better chicken tenders and jojos with similar prices. They have a great selection of sauces, all of which seem to compliment the meat well. They offer interesting sides too. I've passed by the place during busy times and it seems hectic, though there's also some off hours where you can calmly eat your lunch and dinner. My partner and I got our food pretty fast, and it was hot and well made. Service was helpful. The restaurant was surprisingly clean as well.

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5 Price: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3.5/5 TL;DR: Quick casual eats where you order at the counter and pick a seat. Great place to grab a drink and some good food with friends. Chicken is fried & seasoned well and their sides are great. Drinks are delicious and servers are nice. Sandwich of the week: *3/5*: Worker suggested we try the sandwich of the week which was a kind of gyro. It was grilled chicken served with lettuce, pickled onions, and blue cheese/feta on top of pita bread. Not a huge fan as the dish was mainly cold -- would've preferred the bread to be toasted and warm, and for the chicken to be hot. While good, definitely needed to add sauce to add more flavor to the sandwich (we added White Gold). Overall, the taste was good but could've been executed better. Fried Mac & Cheese Bites: *5/5*: This was my favorite thing here. The mac & cheese is fried perfectly -- the outside is super crispy but when you bite into it, the cheese is melted and oozing out and you get the nice taste of the macaroni in it. Usually when you get deep fried mac & cheese, it can be dry/boring/flavorless, but this was seasoned super well and the cheese they use is to die for. Would come back just to eat this. If it gets too rich for you, definitely recommend eating it with the Fresno Sauce (spicy) or White Gold. Fried Wings: *4/5*: The seasoning is super good and there's the perfect amount on it (really saucy and fills your mouth with every bite). The wings were really tender and juicy (but could've been juicier). Would definitely order this again. Jo-Jo's Potato Wedges: *3/5*: These were seasoned really well. Thought they could've been a little crispier; however, I'm not a huge fan of potato wedges so my opinion of probably biased. My friends enjoyed them though! Dirty Rice: *5/5*: Sooo good! Whatever spice mix they used made the rice jam packed with flavor but not too overpowering. Rice was cooked really well. Only thing is that their wasn't much sausage. White Gold: *5/5*: This sauce is amazing. Must try it with everything.

Yelp
Sadly all things must come to an end! If you are craving this place after the weekend you will need to go into Portland to have a taste. This location is changing to a Hawaiian spot. Loved the black eyed pea salad and Big Dirty Jo-Jo's.

Yelp
Always always a good time and party in my mouth!!! Food is amazing but Tabs the GM is sooo welcoming and helpful!!! Highly recommended for full meal or quick snack!!

Yelp
Long story short: THE BEST GD MF CHICKEN I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE Came in for lunch and got the fried thigh meal with Jojo's and slaw. Perfection. Amazing. The ranch, sublime. Everything is outstanding. They smoke the meat before grilling/frying and the flavor is incredible. My friend for the grilled thighs and the flavor was like being slapped in the face. So good, we were literally moaning as we were eating. It was a religious experience. Without the best chicken I have ever had!

Bennette I.

Yelp
Went with my son to Bigs for dinner. The casual feel and tvs playing sports games were exactly what we were looking for the rainy evening! I ordered the half fried chicken which came with jojo potatoes and coleslaw and also a side of pickles. My son ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The fried chicken tasted 10 outta 10, flavorful, crunchy skin, tender meat. I purposely ordered a large entree because I wanted leftover the next day. The jojo's were piping hot and the pickles I would eat a jar of! I love that they had 3 offerings of sauce, lots of napkins and wipes! Again super causal-you bus your own tables.

Yelp
I had always dismissed this place because of its name, as I do not eat meat. However, this time I decided to stop and read the menu, and to my surprise they had many vegetarian options. I opted for the Big's Veggie Bowl, and the wedge salad which was on the Happy Hour Menu.  My favorite part was the Fried Broccoli that topped the bowl.  The salad was one of the more  bizarre wedge salads I have had. It was topped with mixed pickles. I am generally not a fan, but when it is on top of blue cheese dressing it is almost not palatable.  I did appreciate the service, and the nice outdoor seating area. The guy at the counter was super patient with us, and couldn't have been nicer.  I guess moral of the story is if you are going to place with chicken in the name, you shouldn't except them to to shine in other areas.

Kennan K.

Yelp
Qwispy Please! I think most people can appreciate some amazing smoked/fried chicken wings. This place goes a step further with their sense of humor and customer service:) I added a note for my online order, "Qwispy Please" And they gave me a free piece of Buttermilk Pie! 100% recommend!

Jashan S.

Yelp
Another place I tried during the Portland Wing Week. This place was buzzing on Friday night and there were many good things to try on the menu. I controlled myself and ordered just the $8 wings. I am a big fan of Gochujang sauce and I was excited to try these wings but they turned out to be very mediocre. The sauce didn't have the spice or the kick that is needed in wings. The service was pretty quick though. Surprisingly they had a $2 beer on the tap which I also got with the wings. Not the worst beer I have had and for $2 it was a nice addition to the meal. I'd want to try this place again for other chicken dishes, maybe they are better!

Rachel K.

Yelp
While visiting the Portland area we stopped into Big's Chicken and enjoyed way too much food!! You order up at the counter and can seat yourself anywhere while you wait for your food. We ordered sandwiches, wings, fried Mac and cheese and Taquitos. Everything was delicious, although the sandwich was a bit messy to eat. Our group absolutely loved the fried Mac and cheese and taquitos and we probably should have shared items instead of getting a full meal each. (The leftovers were tasty though) They also had some unique sauces available, I would recommend trying each of them.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while in the Beaverton area looking for a lunch spot. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and a side of the mac and cheese bites! The chicken sandwich was tasty, could've used more sauce on the chicken but overall good. The Mac and Cheese bites were definitely worth it as a side dish. Would go back when here when in town.

Yelp
Holy moly, everything I had was phenomenal! Flavors are on point, white bbq sauce was the best ever and don't get me started on the broccoli! Absolute must!

Shauna F.

Yelp
I've gone to this place multiple times. they have great chicken sandwiches and have an all day happy hour on Mondays (which is one of my days off). Everything I've ordered here has been good and plan on returning regularly.

Saadat I.

Yelp
We've eaten here a couple of times when we had a hankering for some fried chicken. By no means is it the traditional fried chicken, but always delicious! The white bbq sauce is awesome and their mashed potatoes are among my favorite, possibly better than my wife's mash

Mariah R.

Yelp
I'm from California. I went there with a friend of mine & she recommended I get the wings & Mac n Cheese ball bites. AND GOOD LAWDY!! Them thangs should be illegal for how delicious they are but my heart was broken into trillion pieces finding out they are now permanently closed in the location I went to in Oregon (Beaverton). Overall I loved the places, it was beautiful & had a great team of workers that honestly made me feel like family (: amazing food in a gorgeous city

Nicola N.

Yelp
Upon entering I wasn't greeted much and no smile from the host. Now the food was incredible!! My boyfriend and I were both happy with our orders! We enjoyed every bite at the table spot to soak up the post-winter rays. The inside was a bit quiet but peaceful!

Apryl J.

Yelp
Good service, good food, good vibes. I went during happy hour, so the price was okay. I spent $21 for two drinks, two orders of popcorn chicken and a small jojo. Outside of happy hour i'd consider it expensive for the average, Casual Diner. I ordered the lemon popcorn chicken and jojos. The jojos were amazing. The popcorn chicken was okay. If I were to go again I'd get a chicken burger or wings rather than the popcorn chicken.

Jonathan Y.

Yelp
The chicken was pretty dry but at least it wasn't busy. They don't have the sauces out anymore which makes sense but were quick to bring any sauce we requested. The Jojo's were really crispy and the white sauce is pretty nice. The slaw was nice with the paprika on top.

Wade O.

Yelp
Mostly bread and slaw with 1/4" thick chicken meat for $13.25. Pizza Hut does a better chicken sandwich.

Shaquita Y.

Yelp
This chicken lacked all of the flavor I thought It could have. I even tried to drench It in ranch but that didn't work. The sandwich was dry. I even had a side of fries (jo Jo) and wings wasn't impressed at all either. The workers were nice and friendly but that doesn't make up for the taste. Lots of seating if you need It. Order at the counter and they bring you your food. Street parking, so expect to drive around for a minute to find any

Kenneth L.

Yelp
solid place in downtown Beaverton. I came here on a saturday afternoon and was surprised to stumble upon a Happy Hour offering in the middle of the day on a weekend! Tried the chicken sandwich, jojo side dish and a 6 piece chicken wing dish. This was plenty of food for me and my friend to share. The chicken wings were great to eat and had that Alabama inspired seasoning. The jojos (otherwise known as potato wedge fries) were crispy and doused in chicken gravy..yum! The chicken sandwich was also a good meal to split with a friend. Overall, nice place to dine and go during their daily Happy Hours to save a buck or two!

Chuck D.

Yelp
SMASHBURGER review (happy hour): disappointed ... both the beef patties and the bun are dry and crumbly, the meat overcooked. They are likely using too-lean ground beef and not cooking at high-enough heat to produce and maximize the "fried" Maillard reaction, which gives great smashburgers their distinctively juicy crispy goodness (see Farmer & Beast and Mid-City Smashburger).

Bao L.

Yelp
Came in for the first time in a while for sandwich week. Friendly staff that was more than happy to accommodate my request for all the dressings for their sandwich week gyro be placed on the side. Gyro with their grilled chicken was delicious and hit the spot after a run.

Grace C.

Yelp
Solid wings! We were visiting the area, and were deciding on dinner. Hubby was deciding on several places, but we ended up with Big's due to reviews, proximity to us, and proximity to Mo Cha Tea House so that we could grab boba. We were able to order online ahead of time, where it notified us that the wings would be ready in 15 minutes (!!). True to its ETA, the wings were ready when we picked it up in 15 minutes. We paid online, so we were able to notify an employee, grabbed our food, and went back to the place we were staying at. SOLID recipe. Hubby mentioned that this place was known for their whole chicken, but he's a wing guy and ordered the 18 wings. He loves dry rub, and their original recipe is the only flavor they offer. They also provided two sauces/dips: a lemon aioli type and a spicier hot sauce type. He loved the sauces/dips and was even contemplating on how to get it back to CA with us. I know both are available to be bought online for pick up, but can't really get it on the place. And doesn't look like it can be shipped... We also grabbed a small dirty rice (with egg!), and broccoli with pimento. So good! The dirty rice was really good with the sauces, too! The pimento was basically perfect: not runny, had its spicy kick, and paired with the perfectly cooked/slightly charred (in a good way) broccoli. Overall, dinner was thoroughly enjoyed. Unique flavor, memorable tastes, and executed perfectly. Bookmarked for future visits.

Jaison D.

Yelp
Liked the flavorful Grilled chicken with nice sauces. Jo Jo s were amazing, as it was perfectly cooked not too oily, not hard. Also tried Dirty rice and it's really good. Half bird is good for 2-3 people as the the chicken is not that big and felt little hard on thicker pieces like breast piece. A must visit place in Beaverton with nice ambience

Andy B.

Yelp
This place has a lot of great stuff, but once I had the Big Dirty, I was hooked. None of the other stuff on the menu matters anymore. It's the dish I crave when I'm in town and make a point to come here to get my fix. The white gold sauce is amazing and even though the Big Dirty comes with a generous helping, I have to add more. This is probably awful for my waistline but it's just too good to pass up. It's best when it's fresh from the restaurant because the Jojos are still crispy, but despite a little bit of sogginess, it's still worth it getting it delivered too. Now if only I can find anything close to this in Atlanta...

Matt L.

Yelp
This place was pretty busy on a Saturday noon-time lunch. As a counter service place with outdoor seating options, this place is known for their chicken (obviously). We tried their wings (for the table) and I was able to try the PDX spicy hot sandwich. The sandwich itself was not as spicy and the seasoning on the Texas toast and the JoJo's were very overpowering. The sandwich itself was okay, the JoJo's were tasty though! The sandwich came with two sauces - one was almost similar to a honey mustard and the second was a spicy hot sauce. The wings were actually dry, surprisingly, and not as tender as I was expecting. I would have skipped them. Overall I would actually skip this place and would have gone to Popeye's to get my chicken sandwich fix. The staff was super friendly at this place!

Mia W.

Yelp
Food was just okay. Nothing wrong or not tasty, just wasn't anything special or that I'd rave about. The fried mac and cheese bits were our favorite of the meal, including the zesty ranch (which I'm still thinking about, so so GOOD!). Fried chicken sandwiches were alright, felt a bit boring and could've packed a punch with more unique toppings, etc.

Nicole K.

Yelp
A Haiku Review: Fried chicken.. crunchy and hot Banana pudding Out of this world. Heavenly.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Mmmm, great chicken! A little spicy bite to it - not too much, not too little. Muy sabroso! Very flavorful! Highly recommend for meat eaters!

Charlie T.

Yelp
We came here recently to grab a quick snack and realized they have a happy hour now. We decided to try the items on the happy hour menu and were happy with the items. The wings, nachos, smashburger, and while chicken were all good. It's nice that they have the happy hour all day on Mondays.

Richard H.

Yelp
Bigs is big here in Beaverton. Of course the chicken is to die for. Today I had the Jamaica Jerk sandwich with thigh meat, pineapple, coleslaw, Jojo's with the Jerk spicy sauce. It was very good. Especially with a Hazy IPA from EveryBuddy's brewery. Just delicious you know? The real prize is the dirty rice. Other places stopped making it possibly because Big's makes it better. Interesting location, excellent excellent food.

Sd H.

Yelp
Been coming to this location since the week they opened. Big's has always been comforting, down to earth, gracious, delicious and consistent.

Janet M.

Yelp
I like Big's. It seemed like the perfect holiday takeout situation so we called it in and went for pickup. Big's has delicious grilled chicken. It is flavorful and tender without being overly salty and it has just the right amount of char on it. I cannot speak to their fried version as I am hyper focused on the perfect boneless chicken thighs. They are bomb. Big's offers a number of sides. When we had our Boxing Day meal with my ex we got jojos, coleslaw, mac and cheese bites, mashed potatoes with cajun gravy ( actually I asked for no gravy and we got it anyway and it was fine), and the charred fried broccoli which comes with pimento cheese. We had plenty of their white bbq sauce and a spicy red version. They don't have a traditional ketchupy molasses number, which would be nice, but the white bbq is pretty dang tasty. The teen is in love with The Big Dirty: jojos ( potato wedges) smothered in barbecue sauce, gravy, chicken, bacon, cheese, and green onion. The kid said it is pretty perfect but wished for more bacon. We also got their buttermilk pie which comes with a tangy sauce. My ex and teen didn't like it as much as I do. My auntie used to make something very similar. It tastes like childhood to me. My only quibble is I wished they offered some kind of roll or biscuit, possibly another veggie side like green beans or collards. My ex wished they had pecan pie. We are so greedy/needy. Nevertheless we had a pretty perfect meal. If you haven't been, go try it. So good. Honestly.

Darren O.

Yelp
Not sure why my reviews keep getting deleted. Bigs is one of our favorite places on the west side. The chicken sandwiches are their signature item. I prefer the smoked over the fried. The cole slaw is spicy which I love. The fried broccoli with pimento cheese is phenomenal. I always order extra cheese. My new favorite thing is their mashed potatoes and gravy. Perfect. The dirty rice is another favorite. My wife almost always gets the big dirty. Jojos with gravy, chicken, sauce...kind of like a southern pouting. Also so good! Just a great place that we are fortunate to have in Beaverton

RN R.

Yelp
I dream about this place, the grilled thighs with all the sauces. We commute from north to get here... we have to decide between Big's or JoJo pdx when we want chicken and jojos. Both are good, whoever opens a place in Vancouver Wa first will win our loyalty.

Natasha K.

Yelp
Pretty impressed with Bigs! I have had this place on my list to check out for some time now so we were excited to order on DoorDash. We got the PDX Hot Chicken Sandwich, 6 piece Smoked and Fried Wings and the Buttermilk Pie. The sandwich was very very tasty but holy it was so SPICY! And I am Indian... I can handle spice! This stuff had my lips burning and my face sweating so I wish it was just slightly less spicy. Also the amount of lettuce they put on there was slightly ridiculous. It was also half a wedge of lettuce but that didn't take anything away from the sandwich. I like that the pickles were lightly pickled cucumbers so it seemed like it was housemade. LOVE the potato wedges, so yummy and crunchy. The wings were a bit small but still good and crispy. Lastly the Buttermilk Pie! I had never heard of a buttermilk pie but I am so glad we splurged and got a slice. It was like a custardy cheesecake but I can't stop thinking about it! I am knocking a star from the review solely because our delivery driver waited at the restaurant for quite some time so it seems as though the food was not ready.

Joseph A.

Yelp
The girl behind the counter was absolutely no help when you tried to ask for extra styles of dressing the meal for the price was absolutely horrible the french fries the JoJo 's are ridiculously over spiced, and for the price of the sandwich could've got a better sandwich at Chick-fil-A

Cole K.

Yelp
I loved this place so much that it was my last meal in Portland before I moved away. Big's Chicken is a very tasty restaurant and I am satisfied every time I visit. Plus, their COVID protocols are very convenient and make it easy to get food to go. My favorites are the smoked and fried wings, the chicken sandwich, and the jojos. Typically, my girlfriend and I go and get these three items and split them all down the middle so we don't have to miss out on anything. They also have a decent beer selection. In my opinion, Big's has some of the best wings in Portland, and being from Kentucky, I was really impressed by the quality and the flavor of the wings. Yum!

Matthew W.

Yelp
Oh my god this place is amazing. My son and I went there for lunch and was blown away. I had their fried chicken sandwich and I had it with potato wedges which was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Their was not a lot of people there but their were tvs on and it seemed like it could be a busy place.

Jenn N.

Yelp
Yes. Just yes. Wandered over while waiting for a friend to get off work. Big open space inside. Very close to the outdoor commons seating area. I got the PDX hot. Was worried about it being a thigh because historically thighs aren't like even so you get big bites and little bites. Nope. Perfect. Even. Crispy. The Texas toast has Cajun seasoning on it. Yes. Yes. Yes! Got a side of the white gold and Fresno to try by dipping my jojos in. Both great! I suggest everything. Get napkins though. Not greasy but that Cajun seasoning sticks to your fingers!

R T.

Yelp
When I need fried food this is a place to go. Fresno sauce is spicy and a great compliment to the fried bird. Wings are sometimes tough but flavorful. Chicken sandwich is much better and easier to eat without pimento cheese sauce. Coleslaw is tasty and the jojo potatoes are rocking crisp exterior with creamy centers. Nice outside benches too.

Cindy I.

Yelp
Very moist roasted chicken. Has some heat and more from the drizzled sauce that is hot. Second time I had them hold he sauce and that helped me since I'm a wimp for heat. The JoJos also are tasty but a little too much heat for me. They said the fired chicken version is hotter than the roasted version. I do wish there was more options for not spicy as I would like a fired chicken sandwich. My husband enjoyed it. The Beaverton location has a lot of spaces and seating inside and out. I really liked the griddled corn cakes (like thick pancakes) with honey butter but you need to eat them while they are warm for the best effect.

Mr L.

Yelp
Much better than I expected. Chicken was cooked perfect and was still moist. Sauce is pretty good. Fries were hot and not too salty. Broccoli was cooked just right. Salad was average. Ate here 10.30.21

Jon W.

Yelp
I like this place a lot, only on uber eats though.. the parking situation if you just want take out is garbage.. The chicken is very good, pudding is also great.. must get some of the hot sauce it is very tasteful

Yuli L.

Yelp
Ok! This time I ordered the baked 1/2 chicken with jojos and coleslaw, and it was amazing! The chicken was super tender n delicious! We enjoyed eating it with the crispy jojos and chilled coleslaw. The only regret we had was not ordering the whole chicken! Totally recommend it. Seriously it's so good, you should give it a try!

Emily B.

Yelp
Love the chicken thighs. The white gold sauce I could literally bathe in it's so good. And those jo Jo's?!?!? I swear they're breaded in crack. Phenomenal!

Allen C.

Yelp
The chicken here? Superb. The Service? Super. The Ambiance? Supe. The people? Sup. The fried chicken here is very tender and juicy! I got the half chicken with cole slaw and their beans. I can't say anything but good things about their food. The cole slaw had a sweet and savory crunch to it, the chicken sandwich was also good, especially with the special sauce! The special dipping sauce was also amazing as well, you'll need extra for sure.

Kristi P.

Yelp
Sadly, I think this was a case of unmet high expectations. I love smoked proteins and imagined the chicken would have a flavor-enhancing smoked taste. I was also encouraged by the emphasis on dark meat, which I strongly prefer over white. The grilled boneless thighs (their specialty) came the closest, and most pieces were flavorful and moist, but not very smoky. The fried thighs were more bland than most dark meat in general, and some pieces seemed on the dry side. It definitely called for sauce, which they provide. The wings were fine, but nothing special, and no hint of the smoking process. The coleslaw was a bit bland, and jojos did not impress. The ratio of unseasoned baked potatoness to seasoned outside was too high. Maybe I'm just not a jojos fan--I admittedly have not had many.
