Google
This is the best diner in SC!! We were a top of 4 and had dinner and breakfast. My fried chicken livers were FRESH, my fries were fresh cut and hot, and my green beans had so much flavor. The breakfasts came out hot, cooked perfectly, and with huge portions. We were just passing through, but best believe we’re adding this spot to our travel list next time we’re in the area. I have traveled all over the US and the food, service, and “vibes” were absolutely top 3 of my life. 10000/10

Karen A.

Google
Vegetable soup was SO good!! We also had The Hawaiian burger and Fuji apple chicken salad and it was all so incredible! Highly recommend!

Greg K.

Google
Good old fashion southern food. Breakfast foods is probably their main specialty. However I like their “lizard’s thicket” style menu of picking a meat and 3 sides… you can’t go wrong the fried chicken

Google
We were driving back home from Asheville, on I-26, and looking for a quick spot for a meal, but not a fast food chain. We found Bill and Fran's and decided to give it a try. This was a great start to 2026 for our New Year's Day breakfast. The place was packed and you could see every employee working hard as well as working as a team. The food was great and just what we were looking for. The scrambled eggs were cooked just right, bacon was crispy, but not overdone, and the French toast was perfect. This also looked to be the happening spot for many of the locals. I recommend this lttle gem in the rough for a nice little meal. On a side note we ran into old friends from our hometown we had not seen in over 20 years, who also just took a chance on this place. We enjoyed catching up with them and our server was kind enough to not rush us out. (The rush had died down so we were not holding up the table for anyone who needed it)

Google
Down home meat and three. So good it'll make you hug your momma. Classic southern meat and 3, these are going extinct. Thankfully Bill & Fran's is keeping this southern legend alive. Do yourself a favor stop in and get some good food. It's not just good for your body, it's good for your soul. Get back in touch with small town America.

Google
The best cheeseburger I've ever eaten! I stopped in on New Year's Eve while traveling I-26 and very glad I did. Check it out and try the cheeseburger. Their prices are very reasonable. They also have excellent fried chicken.

Google
This place is unique!! We had breakfast here twice and the food was great! Good ol’fashioned home cooking the way it should be. The grits are the bomb! Wifey loved the biscuits and gravy! Servers were definitely locals with history and a love for the community! Deep seated roots and it shows with customers and staff calling each other by name. And it’s generational! The atmosphere was like family! The facility could use a deep cleaning but was clean enough for daily use! You can tell they move some people through this place and it’s well loved! We were only traveling through but would definitely eat here again!! It’s places like this that are the heart of the communities that make this country so great!!

Google
My husband my son and I stopped by on the way back home from vacation.Food was amazing and friendly service. Will definitely be back

Alan D.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. The food was good the pecan pie and fried apple pie were fantastic. I would highly recommend if you are driving by to stop and eat. It's a perfect family friendly diner.

Yelp
As usual the food came And I forgot the photos until it was gone. It was really good. We're from central Indiana and love comparing the differences in seasoning and ingredients in our favorites. It Was a find! Right off the highway. Could not have been better. The service was just as wonderful and friendly

Angela H.

Yelp
Food was amazing and home style. Service was friendly and quick. Love finding really good meat and three. Meatloaf was excellent.

Yelp
Stopped in on the way to Hilton Head SC, we were seated quickly and if you looked at it it was a mix in appearance between a Waffle House and a rax roast beef (yep just aged myself). The food was good, not amazing, but hey let's be real, we didn't stop here to get a Michelin star meal, we stopped for warm food on a cold day and use the restroom. The food came out cooked well and everyone stated it tasted good. I got a burger that was better than fast food, and a pie with ice cream. It was good as well. Service was good and the bathrooms were clean. What more could we ask for. If in the area again I would stop.

Katie E.

Yelp
The food was immaculate! My daughter can't seem to drink out of the water glass and it spilled all over her pants, but besides that there was no wait time for seats and to pay. We definitely got lucky! The servers were so sweet and friendly! Definitely a southern hospitality haha. It was really packed so make sure you find a good time to go, but the food is definitely worth the wait. I will come back for sure. Their burger was huge and for a decently good price, the onion rings were perfectly fried, the sweet potato fries were also perfectly fried, the pancakes however were not fried but they were absolutely scrumptious, the gravy was nice and warm; such a comfort food I could drink it from the bottle! The sweet tea took its sweet time coming to my table, but it was sweet and cold. The straws however broke when I tried to open them, so make sure the paper wrapping is less dense. I wish I could have ordered the fried pickles because I like the green color and they looked really fresh! Definitely a nice little nook in the cranny kitchen and the chefs were spot on with the food.

Yelp
Convenient location off of 26 for travelers. The staff are hard working and friendly. The location felt like a classic diner. The omelette was amazing. The one ding was the hash browns. I like a crisp top taste, but they were burnt all the way through. Would definitely stop again if we're passing by.

Yelp
Just what I was looking for. I grew up in New York New Jersey area and really miss the old dinners up there. This is just like it. Great food great service (Thank you Nicole) and great prices. Give it a try. You won't be sorry.

Yelp
That was an adventure!! The person who described the place looking like an old Waffle House merging with Rax was exactly correct. Don't let that put you off. We were way past the lunch time crowd and this place was hopping! I had an APPLE SALAD WITH GRILLED CHICKEN. This was something I would have expected at a high end restaurant. A great mixture topped off with their Tangy Apple Cider Vinaigrette Dressing. It was tangy and I should have asked if they sold it separately. Hubby had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich oozing with cheese. They have something called raw potatoes. The poor waitresses, we heard multiple times people questioning what that is. Our food was delicious but this place is not the cleanest. Not sure if it was because they were so busy, but the floors really needed to be swept. Had it not been for that. I would have e given a higher rating. Also the waitress has no idea what gluten is and wasn't helpful when I was asking for suggestions. But once our food came she was very attentive.

Yelp
This local spot was packed at 12:30 pm on a Saturday. Customers were fighting over tables as they were bussed. Our first table got taken away by some people that came in after us. We were waiting for a table to be bussed when another server questioned whether we were next but we didn't see any other people wanting a table. I ordered Beef Tips over Rice with Creamed Potatoes and Green Beans. She ordered Steak Fingers with Potato Salad and Broccoli Casserole. The granddaughter ordered Macaroni and Cheese. Her Friend ordered Cheese Fries. I thought my meal was great. The creamed potatoes were actually mashed potatoes with gravy. I guess restaurants don't call them that anymore. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't what I received. They were delicious. The beef tips over rice was really good. The green beans were okay. She didn't care for the potato salad but enjoyed the steak fingers and broccoli casserole. Our granddaughter didn't like the baked macaroni and cheese. She ordered the Lemon Loaf Cake with her meal but they were out of it and it took until the end of the meal to find out so we skipped dessert.

Yelp
Nice country restaurant, very welcoming! We ordered the biscuits and gravy and it did not disappoint!

Yelp
I googled best place for breakfast in Newberry and they popped up so on my way to Columbia I decided to check them out. Soon as I walked in I was greeted by a friendly waitress at the counter. This is the type of place the waitress calls you baby and you just know customer service would be awesome and it was. I was in the mood for fish and grits so i ordered that with a pancake on the side. The fish wasn't fresh, just straight store bought, frozen from the box to the fryer. So I didn't enjoy that at all. But the pancake was yummy, had a great buttery flavor. The place was jam packed on a Friday afternoon. I did get a side of the sweet potato casserole to go and my goodness prob the best I ever had. I'd definitely go back but just won't get the fried flounder again. They do have fresh bone in catfish but I don't do well with bones so I'd prob try lunch or an omelette next go round.
google avatar

Jackie K.

Yelp
This is a good, clean roadside diner with a daily menu and more. The flounder filet was a bit overcooked, but the wait staff was great and nice interior and exterior. I would stop again.

Yelp
I paid too much attention to the written reviews about the food and missed some of the pictures of the building before deciding to go here. Yes, the service was friendly, and I'd say the food was fine. And if you think of the building as a remodeled Waffle House you will be OK here. It was definitely busy the day before Thanksgiving! At the time we decided to go here the overall Yelp review was 3.5, which for me is the very minimum I usually like from some place on Yelp. The prices were very reasonable! Be prepared there is one price for cash, and a slightly higher price for using a credit card. That didn't bother me at all, but thought you should know.

Houston H.

Yelp
Said it was first come first serve we got there and got cut in front of and people were just seating themselves. I tried to do the same and was told to wait at the front. Very unhelpful and unfriendly service I don't think you get seated unless you're a senior citizen. Going to school at Newberry and being apart of a team on campus I'm gonna try to let everyone know to go anywhere but here. Rudest people I've interacted with since being in town most definitely.

David F.

Yelp
Easy access off I-26, friendly servers, large menu! Great food. We had eggs, bacon, French toast, grits, hash browns, and toast - all of it was fantastic!!
google avatar

Yelp
During our five day stay in Newberry, we found ourselves dining at Bill and Fran's three time..it's just that good! This local spot serves up classic southern fare, and their lunch specials are a standout. Over the course of our visits, I tried the chicken and dumplings, a pimento cheeseburger, and the chicken salad platter. While everything was delicious, I'd come back just for that chicken salad. It's a simple dish, but when done right, it's truly something special. And the prices? Dirt cheap! You can get a hearty, flavorful meal without breaking the bank.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Food was good, I got special, husband ordered off menu- they were super quick, they were very busy, a little dark for my tastes, but they had the blinds closed. Good food. Decent prices, it is a diner.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
My wife and i stopped in here off the interstate and this place is a hidden gem...( now it's a country diner, so no cloth napkins) .... But the food is welcoming, delicious, and reasonably priced... we had a cheeseburger and fries ( with Gravy of course) , and an order of fried chicken livers..... Mercedes ( our waitress- I hope I got name correct? ) was engaging, and couldn't have been nicer... robert - the cook kept us entertained, and this guy can seriously, seriously cook.... Burger was fantastic... and chicken livers ( best I ever had ) were the ..... Big thumbs up .... Rock on Robert and crew!!!!! We'll hit it up again... Kmac out...

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food! Great Service and good prices! Would recommend Bill & Fran's Restaurant to anyone interested in a good place for shop price.

Jack J.

Yelp
The service and food is absolutely amazing, it's my first time here and I'm still in the booth while writing but I can for sure say this is one of the best home town restaurants I've been to!!

Chad C.

Yelp
I tried to visit this establishment about two months ago. Took me a few minutes before I was acknowledged and told I could sit anywhere. Once seated, I waited an additional 5 minutes without anyone coming to the table. I walked out. Restaurant was busy but no excuse not to have a waitress come by my table.

Carolyn C.

Yelp
It was storming bad outside.. it was very cold inside.. it was a meat and three.. the fried chicken was good the squash casserole probably was good if it was hot.. everything was cold.. black eyed peas were just out of the can.. broccoli with cheese sauce??? The cheese sauce was so runny it was under the frozen broccoli...65cents for water will not go back.. portions were large but if you can't eat them ‍ service very good but poor waitress was so busy doing side work as someone came out the kitchen and yelled at the waitress for using to many jelly packs I'm sure they didn't eat the jelly.. only one bucket per shift.. no see I didn't need to know all that!!!

Yelp
First time here. It was out of the way for us but we like trying new places. It's just your typical greasy spoon, which is a good thing. Our waitress was new so she was kinda learning. No big deal. My chipper steak was a little over five and my onions on top were burnt a little. Not to a crisp but more than o like. The chicken breast was very good. The dinning room is a run down type old huddle house looking place. Again no big deal. Prices are reasonable off the menu. However, first time to ever get charged .65 for water. It wasn't even a styrofoam cup. I may could understand if they spent money on a cup but it was plastic. That in my opinion is nickel and dimming the customer. It is what it is. Still prices are fair and food ok. Just average I would use say. I would go back, but not out of my way.

Dianna W.

Yelp
Great diner. Good food, large portions, and very friendly staff. Three sister trip gang highly recommends.

Brittany L.

Yelp
I recently started visiting Newberry more often since my son began attending Newberry College, and I was hoping to find some good local spots to enjoy. Unfortunately, this restaurant was a major disappointment. The food was subpar, the cleanliness left a lot to be desired, and the service was downright awful. It's frustrating to see such low standards when there's so much potential for great dining in the area. I truly hope restaurants in this town step up their game--because experiences like this make me not want to stay here any longer than necessary.
google avatar

Sandy D.

Yelp
Stopped for gas at neighboring gas station and decided to order lunch to go while traveling. Wow! Best chicken salad I've ever had in my life. I'm gluten free and have eaten a ton of chicken salad. You will not be disappointed.

Angela W.

Yelp
Delicious and loved the nostalgia of the place. Potato soup and BLT did not disappoint.

Mike N.

Yelp
This place was like an upgraded Waffle House. In a good way! I like Waffle House. I had breakfast and it was delicious. The wait staff was very friendly as well.

Libby H.

Yelp
Excellent variety of options including all day breakfast. Food quality and quantity was amazing and cost was extremely reasonable. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with questions. Can highly recommend!
google avatar

Marchaan F.

Yelp
Satisfied customer. Ordered takeout. It was hands down the best spinach dip I have ever tasted. Nothing compares! Large portions. The blueberry muffin was BUTTTTERED! Yum. A piece of heaven! Go and experience the divine. 10/10 I recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
So glad we stopped at this great diner. Fast service for on the road traveling. Best onion rings by far! Some soul food for sure offered there! Loved watching the service crew! Skip fast food restaurants and get quality food for your buck!

Ashton M.

Yelp
First off I'd like to say that the server we had was amazing and professional and very kind and fast. JUST NOT TO US. I watched her cater to our neighboring table hand and foot the entirety of there stay. We had to wait 20 minutes just for drinks also I felt that my wife and i where not priority. We are a young mixed couple and to see you be perfect to the Caucasian family was not a good look. I will not say the persons name bc I don't want to ruin anyone's job but come on.
google avatar

Malcolm W.

Yelp
This spot was okay. We were able to be sit down quickly. Our server was great. I had the veggie omelet with cheese grits and hash browns. It was really yummy. The grits were not over cooked. And the hash browns were just right. I would have given them 4 stars but the bathroom was almost horrible. I will say that if I had gone to the bathroom before ordering food, I would not have stayed. So I encourage you to use the bathroom at home before going.

Jaime P.

Yelp
The building is an old Waffle House and the interior is your typical diner. The hum of conversation, kitchen clanging and a baby crying. The scent of Pine Sol was heavy in the air. Families enjoying meals and pouring in to get a seat. The whole experience was exactly what I was after. The fried pickles were too greasy for me, but hand breaded in house. I ordered an egg biscuit, but at 3pm they said it was rare to find a biscuit, so I missed my chance. I opted for a grilled blueberry muffin, 2 eggs over medium and hash browns. Muffin was a touch under done, but grilled well. The eggs and hashbrown were cooked nicely. The service was friendly, the price was right and the food was good, just as the sign said. Thanks, Bill & Fran.

Linda P.

Yelp
Housed in what appears to be a former Waffle House structure, this was a convenient stop on our way to the beach. They offer a large selection, particularly "meat and 3" type of fare. I selected carrot and raisin salad, butter beans, and potato casserole. All three were excellent. We ordered corn bread and it was delicious. My husband had the fried chicken and it was hot, tender and crunchy! There is on site parking. The interior is cramped, a la the Waffle House architecture, but the staff is genuinely warm and friendly...sweet, loving folk all! We'll definitely stop in again when we get near the Newberry exit on I-26!

Darlene K.

Yelp
The food was delicious home cooking and the service was kind and efficient. Great last minute stop passing through. But they went above and beyond and when I forgot my credit card they were kind enough to mail it to me in florida. Thank you very much! Will definitely stop again when we are in the area.

Diane C.

Yelp
First time eating here since we are visiting from out of town. Great selection. We had the daily specials and we were not disappointed. Excellent fried chicken, sides of corn bread, broccoli casserole, Mac & cheese, all wonderful homemade food. Another had beef tips over rice and he loved his sides. Even came with a lemon icebox pie for dessert and it was perfect service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive.

Frank M.

Yelp
45 minutes to get a salad. Salad was fine once it arrived. Service was minimal. May have been one of those days for them.

John. W.

Yelp
Good home cooking, very friendly staff and servers, and clean diner ! Have stopped by on several occasions with my wife and always pleased with service and food selections.
google avatar

Walker T.

Yelp
always a great experience and good food! Mercedes of the wait staff was always diligent to never let our cups run dry!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
We stopped here while traveling through. We ordered corn bites as an appetizer, they were really good & a lot of them. We both had the hamburger steak with onions, onion rings and french fries. Service was good and the atmosphere is super family friendly. The only reason that I give it a 3 is because the food was very bland. Not seasoned at all. I would go back if I'm in the area, to try the breakfast.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Absolutely the best diner I've eaten at! Great food! Great prices!! You are crazy for not stopping! My crew had great service there! Kid friendly! All staff was all smiles!!! Yum yum yum!! Best omelet In the state!
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
Hamburgers were really, really overcooked fries soggy Hamburger wasn't quite burnt, but it was completely dry My son had breakfast - nothing impressive Little overpriced for middle of small town south Caroline
google avatar

Diane D.

Yelp
Roadside diner with lots of people. Very small town. None of the cooks were wearing masks which put me off. The servers were wearing their masks. My barbecue was a very strange gray color and was just okay. My husband's breakfast was adequate. You have to grab a table as soon as you find one. Nobody helps seat you. I was concerned for the cleanliness, especially after visiting the restroom. Wood not go back or recommend to others. I really wanted to like it , but no.
google avatar

Madison W.

Yelp
This place has good soul food. We had a party of 11 and ate for a total of $112 with dessert. Our food came out quick and was really fresh. The service was great and we were able to sit down immediately even though we had a bigger party. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Diana C.

Yelp
The food was okay but if you like a clean place to eat just take a look at the blinds. Extremely dirty and definitely not sanitary.
google avatar

Eva H.

Yelp
Absolutely the best biscuits! Stopped by in our way to Myrtle Beach and again on the way back. Good old fashioned diner, service and food were excellent!

Graceann W.

Yelp
Locally owned Right off the interstate All day breakfast Lunch specials every day served with corn bread / rolls and dessert Friendly servers Clean and safe environment
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Classic breakfast diner. They've been doing this a long time. Nothing fancy (or overly friendly) but it works!
