One of the best pizza places known to man kind. Most tasty well cooked and put together pizza you'll ever taste Will the bartender knew how to keep conversation with the customers while multitasking. He actually explained the menu to me and gave me a run down on the establishment thats been there for many many years. The environment looked like you stepped in to a log cabin with a stone fireplace and taxidermy animals throughout the establishment. Very well put with great taste. Outdoor seating and also a great view of the pond to view while eating. Sunset would be best in my opinion. Great waitresses and friendly as soon as you walk in your greeted right away. Next time ill get more pics to post. I will be back NOTE slot machines are available but there are no ATMs so you must bring cash for that.

Finally made it to Bills Pizza and Pub. Unfortunately we didn't get there until 8:00 PM. Sorry Johnny Trader, I know it was to late for the old man

Come for the nostalgia of going here as a kid but usually leave underwhelmed with the food, other than pizza. But even the pizza isn't really worth the price now that I'm a paying adult and not a kid, lol. (Still, the pizza does taste really good) Good views if you sit on the patio and the lake is a nice place to hangout beforehand to have a different type of zaza.

We got the double decker 14" pizza, double sausage on half and sausage - pepperoni on the other half. It was big! And tasty. One slice is enough for most appetites. I also liked the peanuts in the shell. Excellent atmosphere, like a cabin in the woods.

We had the double decker Bill’s Special and Northsider pizzas. Both were amazing. You can really tell everything was made with fresh ingredients. The complimentary free peanuts are a unique idea. Take note, over here it’s okay to throw the empty shells on the ground. In this restaurant, you really feel like you’re in the Northwoods. Great ambience.

Haven’t been here in years, was celebrating a friend’s birthday and she wanted to try it. The pizza was ok but barely any sausage, all veges. Almost $36 for a 14” thin crust Bill’s special + olives. Our friend ordered an individual 9” with 3 ingredients and it was was almost $23. WOW what a rip off! The Southern Peach Tea cocktail is $13 and tasted like plain tea. Service was slow and the place needs an update, very old and dated. Save your money. Too many nicer, fair priced pizza places around.

One of my all time favorites! Even though they changed the recipe, it's still delicious. The atmosphere hasn't changed throughout the years and it is comfortable. The service has always been great every time I've visited.

This past August was literally the first time dining in at this location since '99 believe it or not. I guess because I'm a foodie and love to explore new places, maybe that's what took me so long to get back here and not to mention I've gotten my fill of BP pizza at the North location over the years which is much closer to my house in Beach Park. This pizza is heavenly and truly one of the best I've ever had in my entire life. They say the big city is the place to be but regardless if you're in Chicago, NY or Detroit or even a frozen pizza brand; it really is what you like. As far as taste, this venue alongside the Third Lake location and a popular parlor in Lake Forest are tied for the #1 spot in my book. Besides pizza, Bill's also has a great all around menu as well as a good alcohol menu with overall still fair enough prices, friendly service in a clean & rustic log cabin vibe. Guys, I love your pizza and I promise I won't wait several years to come back for more greatness. Always try my best to support local and I hope for continued success & prosperity for the owner(s).

Yelp
Bill's is legendary in Lake County but I have to give a specific shout out to Kate our waitress! She's a sweetheart with a great sense of humor and a very attentive waitress. Thanks for making our family feel special! The food was amazing as always. Bill's Special pizza, Cheese/green pepper/onion pizza, Meat Lover's pizza, fried pickle spears (Yum!) and the always delicious mozzarella sticks.

Yelp
There is Bills Pub and Bills Pizza. The pub is like a great North Minnesota Supper club and out back is a nice sized patio. We had a double crust pizza, which was great cook and fun to try. The thin pizza was good, had nice sauce. Pizza was a little flimsy, we expected more saltine cracker crust.

Yelp
This was my first time in Bill's in many years and it's just how I remember it, except for the new patio section that looks great for a warm day! We got the bills special with no mushrooms. The crust is decent, nothing mind blowing but it holds up. I felt like the cut on the pizza was off, the end pieces don't need to be so long. Also the knife cuts on the veggies was too rustic, smaller pieces are appreciated. The flavors are good, but I'd like more sauce personally. The doneness was perfect! This is the standard for how a pizza should be cooked. You still get the peanuts and throw the shells on the floor, fun for kids and drunks alike but just watch your step and don't slip. Service is busy and quick, but friendly. No complaints there. I think I appreciate Bill's more as an adult than I did as a kid. I'm giving them a 4 for the nostalgia and the very decent pie, but it was more like a 3.5 for me.

Yelp
Jakob running the bar was professional detailed and very attentive. Never miss a detail. A great bar tender making some killer drinks. We will be back to check on him.

Yelp
My wife convinced me to try this place out while coming back from an appointment. She told me that this was one of her childhood memories that she would come here all the time with her family. This takes me to my next location review. Bill's Pizza & Pub in Mundelein. When you first drive up to the location, it looks almost as if you're walking to someone's log cabin. When you entered the interior, you are transported back to the early 80s interiors all wood with taxidermy animals hanging everywhere in large fireplace and solid booths throughout with very few tables and chairs. I want to make a point for all of my readers. The majority of the restaurant is sit down booths. The booths are quite small, and the tables cannot be moved. They are welded to the floor. I mentioned this because many people were walking in. They were sized people and thought the booths were too small. The only option for tables are 6 to 7 tables. They do not care where you sit in when you walk in the person behind the bar said sit anywhere. They did not have the fireplace going. It would have been a beautiful touch because we were sitting right next to it and it pours the weather now he changed to cold weather. There are peanut shells all over the floor. In fact when you sit down, you are given a small basket of peanuts in their shell and encouraged to throw shells on the floor. Menus were dropped off, and when we first walked in, we were one of only two other tables in the entire restaurant. The bartender was also the server for the tables. Everything was pretty slow paced It did not seem like he was struggling with the small amount of tables that he had. We looked over the menu. The menu looked very old and thoroughly worn. Covered in a dirty plastic sheath. They have at the top of their menu that they are famous for their double-decker pizza to thin crust. Pizzas put together and baked with cheese on top. Looking at the prices, they're astronomical a small 12 inch double-decker pizza was $36. My wife does not like much on her pizza so she got a personal size 9 inch mushroom and spinach. Or pizza was $20. I could definitely see some price gouging on the menu. We both ordered a sprite and a coke. Did I know that I should have savored these drinks because this was the only refill I was going to get for my entire time there. Luckily, before the rush, we were able to put in our order I went with Bill special, which was just a typical Chicago style sausage, pepper onion mushroom I tried it as their double-decker style which they are known for or should I say famous for as they claim. My wife went with the Personal pizza with mushroom and spinach. More people started to come in. They were now about six tables. One table had 6 to 7 guests and this was too much for our server now to handle. We wait for our pizzas to come that took about 20+ minutes My pizza looks to be nothing more than a pan pizza. When I took a bite into a slice, I could see that there was two separate pizzas in the piece. It was a cool, but nothing worth pain and extra $20 for the normal thin crust personal size pizza. My wife's pizza looked like a frozen tombstone pizza. She enjoyed it and said it was good and it also brought her back nostalgia. At no time after we received our pizzas that anyone come back to our tables. They were two other young girls also just wandering the restaurants not doing very much. The one girl went to the table behind us and said are you guys OK? Do you need anything? She walked past our table not asking us if we need anything. I understand that servers can get overwhelmed but you obviously have three people in the Bar area. This is bad scheduling and bad management to not designate help when needed. The customer should not suffer because either the server does not want to try and make more tips or management not actual workers to help out I thought the pizza was average I did not like that the green peppers that they put on top of the pizza were not cooked with the pizza in the oven they were put on afterwards. I would definitely say this place is not worth a second visit. Our bill came to almost $80 before tip. Absolutely ridiculous. The service was not good at all. The food was average at best. This is not somewhere that you need to rush out to go to anytime soon. It is a staple in the area because it has been there for decades. That is the only thing it has going for it tries to do some cliché things to be such as the peanuts that you threw on the floor and a double-decker pizza, but it's not worth the price.

Yelp
Was fun returning to a place I visited so often as a kid but haven't been to in years. It was very much how I remember walking in and stepping through piles of peanut shells tossed all over the floors. The booths are a bit small but manageable(will get back to that). Drink menu is decent and they do have a bar with televisions for watching sporting events. We skipped the appetizers this visit and dove straight into dinner. I was craving pizza and Bills did not disappoint. Everyone else at the table went with individual entrees. When the food arrived the table quickly became very cramped especially with my pizza sitting in the middle taking up over half the table. That aside we had a fantastic time and everyone raved about the spectacular food! Looking forward to returning soon and sitting at the bar to watch some baseball once the season starts!

Yelp
The Mrs, Reilly dog & I were out this way at the dog park & I wanted to try a pie from Bills. Order take out and ate most of it in the car otw home.. I really enjoyed this thinnnnn ( really thin) crust pizza.. the sausage , the sauce, and cheese were very good.. If I'm up this way again, I will order again for Them

Yelp
Everybody was raving about this pizza online. I don't know why I would never order from here again overcooked even though I asked for it to be a little more done, toppings very minimal and the beef not good .. also ordered a beef sandwich and not good at all so disappointed 50 something dollars later for a pizza and a beef sandwich and we picked it up

Yelp
Bill's Pizza carryout is always easy in-and-out. I recently hada Chicago-style dog and it was perfect...a d came with fries...for only $4.50!

Yelp
Stopping in for the best pizza in Chicago!! I have been coming to Bill's Pub since I can remember. Our little league coaches would take us there for pizza at the end of every season and I watched the Bears win the Superbowl when I was 12 years old in Bill's. So, this place will always have a special place in my heart. Even without the nostalgia, this is still the best place for pizza. The inside decor is classic hunting lodge, and in recent years they have built an amazing outdoor dining area with a view of Diamond Lake. Every time we come to visit family, we stop in. Tonight we enjoyed the Bill's special--our absolute favorite. Friendly service and amazing food. I hope Bill's Pub is open forever!

Yelp
We tried this place one evening while we were out getting our car worked on in Libertyville and stumbled upon it searching for nearby places. A fun old style place that looks like your grandfather's basement, lol. The free peanuts and being able to toss the shells on the ground is always fun (and reminded me of the comeback inn from back in the day). Lots of wood and a fireplace in the place was also nice. Server was nice and friendly and gave us a coupon to come back which was sweet. Pizza was very good (but overpriced imo). Wing appetizer was also good. Definitely would come back again if looking to eat out in that neck of the woods.

Yelp
It's prob my fav tavern style pizza in the area. It's a little pricey, but it's good! The burgers are okay. They do have a good charbroiled taste. All the fried appetizers are solid. Support the local joint !
google avatar

Yelp
Spacious restaurant with a beautiful outdoor patio overlooking the lake. Pizza is always good here. Pickles spears are okay. I love fried pickles but I find the spears the worst to eat compared to the pickles chips. I got the beef and sausage combo. Pretty good. I like the cheese on top and jus on the side. I added hot peppers on the side. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the broasted chicken at this location. Server was nice and friendly.

Yelp
Definitely will come back here. It was my first time here as my bf used to come here often while growing up in Chicago. Interesting vibe and decor. Per my bf the interior decor hasn't changed for decades! There's complimentary peanuts on tables and you can just discard the shells on the floor. I actually saw a staff sweeping up these peanut shells at closing so you know they keep this place clean. We got their Bills Pub special pizza which was mushrooms green bell peppers sausage and tons of mozzarella. Totally delicious. Even now I keep dreaming of that pizza!!! They make their pizza here fresh daily and there's even an option to order a frozen one so you can ship them to friends and family. Staff is pretty cool. Got to meet a lot of people and it is very welcoming vibe. Our bartender was pretty cool. He's always singing with the music so it's nice to hear while dining. Can't wait to visit here soon!

Scott T.

Yelp
It's laughable to me that they think their 9" personal pizza should be priced over 20$!!! What's their cost on it ? 2.00$? Go to Hitz they have better pizza anyway.

Yelp
After hearing about how great Bill's Pub in Mundelein was, I finally decided to take the plunge, as my fave tavern pizza joint (Bill's Original in Rosemont - not sure if related) closed after the pandemic. The first issue is their ordering system online isn't very user-friendly. They're not aligned with an ordering app like Toast or Chownow so you have to order from a website. Their ordering website did not work from my phone. Kept "cycling" from the checkout button, back to the ordering menu. I needed to use a computer browser to get the ordering website to work properly and checkout. Next I noticed how expensive their pizzas are! $40 for a 14" thin crust (large) tavern pizza? That's a little nutty. I don't mind paying premium prices for good product but really $40 for a 14" pizza of any type seems a bit excessive. $30 for a 12" thin crust seems goofy as well. And their online menu (on the regular website doesn't list any of the prices with the menu items - you only get to see them when on the (malfunctioning) ordering website. All seems a bit sneaky and off-kilter to me. Finally - the finished product. Mediocre at best unfortunately. My friend and I both rated the pizza a 5/10. We ordered Crispy to get some char on the pizza, but the pizza was so overcooked and dry, it was almost inedible. The sauce tasted like what I used to get in high school cafeteria pizza, or actually more like a cheap frozen pizza sauce. It hardly was thin crust and certainly wasn't tavern-style. It just wasn't very good at all. The staff was pretty friendly on pickup, and the location is very convenient for folks picking up to-go. But it's hard to recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Pizza is great. One basket per table of peanuts 'complimentary' but a refill is $4.50Charging for extra peanuts is really NUTS!

Yelp
The Pizza Was Delicious and I Loved this place when I was a Kid In The 80's . I miss when the Game room was Arcade Fames And Mot Gambling Machines. Pizza is still great! But for The Price Of a Large I was Insanely high ! But I'm sure It's expensive to Heat and Cool that old-Barn

Michelle H.

Yelp
How is it possible this place can charge me 60 + dollars for 2 small pizzas! I thought I heard it wrong on the phone when I called it in. This place is gauging people. Tried to go back once my husband called me and said did you get extra things. The Manager said sorry you left with it and hey rising pricing. What a joke. I can't believe anyone goes here. Livid! What a racket- PS I NEVER leave reviews. I couldn't help this one and I am telling anyone I know not never go there.
google avatar

Karl M.

Yelp
Cozy, casual, comfortable and delicious pizza. Peanut shells insulated you from bad vibes. Protective animals on patrol everywhere - keeping annoying pests away, I'm sure. The beautiful lake view is nice for taking a stroll after dinner. This is a must-go. Great place!

Yelp
Fantastic double-decker pizza. The wait staff provided Great service. Very rustic surroundings.

Yelp
I stopped here for dinner with my hubby during our business trip to Chicago, and boy oh boy, am I glad that we did! EVERYTHING about Bill's exceeded my expectations. Granted, being surrounded by taxidermy pieces might be a little peculiar to some, but I can totally dig the rustic vibes of this place. The service was excellent. We had the pleasure of being served by the coolest young woman who knew a lot about traveling nurses (wish I remembered her name). Her personality was a winner from the start. If I lived in Chicago we'd probably be friends - that's how cool she was. She recommended the poppers, and fortunately I took her up on that. Bill's has *perfected* the jalapeño popper. The pepper did not slide out when I bit down. It was not mushy, and the crunch of the breading balanced out the ooze of the cheddar cheese inside. Did I mention that there's REAL cheddar cheese inside the poppers? My jowls are watering right now just thinking about 'em! The chocolate chip cookie dessert was downright delicious! The crumble of the cookie was just right and the cookie didn't harden under the cold temperature of the ice cream. And when I got into the center part of the cookie, IT HIT DIFFERENT (in the best way possible). That was the warmest and richest part of the cookie. I can't even properly articulate how enjoyable that dessert was to me. You've just gotta try it for yourself. We didn't even crack $75 after ordering two rounds of beers (four in total), two appetizers (wings and poppers), a whole 14" pie with multiple toppings, and the dessert. That's great deal in my books.

Jane B.

Yelp
Group of longtime Bill's lovers got together to film a birthday video for another girlfriend - pizza was great as usual and William (film director for a day) was awesome in assisting us! Thanks, again!!

Ariana A.

Yelp
Service is usually on the slower side but for a very good reason the food is always fresh and made to order.

Scott V.

Yelp
I'm not mad, I'm disappointed. And full disclosure, I've placed this order many times and we LOVE it and will almost certainly place the order again. I ordered pizza for delivery via the Slice app as I had many times before. A Hawaiian pizza for my wife, her favorite for her first Mother's Day and a North Sider for myself. The pizzas arrived as I was attending to our daughter so my wife answered the door and promptly offered me a bite of my pizza. When I made a face she thought it was because the peppers were too hot but instead it was because it was gluten free crust, dry and crumbly and the toppings were half Canadian bacon and half onion and green pepper. I reached out to Slice and simply stated that it was the wrong pizza and they asked if I would want a replacement or refund and I was happy with either. I was then notified that Bill's wouldn't approve either one because they made the pizza correctly, which I'm sure they did, but it wasn't delivered correctly. We will order from Bill's again and I'm sure it will be excellent as per usual but this time either they or the delivery driver messed up and I'm without my delicious North Sider. I'm not mad as mistakes happen, I'm disappointed that they claim all was done correctly when obviously it was not. Pictures for verification.

Yelp
Inattentive staff. Multiple employees just walked past us without acknowledgment. When asked for assistance, we were told to go find the hostess station. Very dirty inside. Children (above the age of ten) were allowed to just throw their food on the ground. No air conditioning in the summertime either. Filthy tables which people could've been sat at.
google avatar

Yelp
Bill's pizza is EXACTLY what you're looking for when you're an out-of-towner and looking for the local pizza joint. Bill's is the hole in the wall wonderful place that creates magical pies that families enjoy for generations. It's carry out only and that's okay. I would have just stood outside and ate the whole pie, but my daughter wanted some too. Another great part of our Bill's story was the service. I had ordered online for pickup and the service they use had said it was a 45 minute wait. I drove over (2-miles) and walked in to ask how long a couple pizzas would be and they said 10 minutes. I told them about the online timing and they rolled their eyes (about the site) and said "give me 5 minutes" 5 minutes later, max, I was walking out the door with 2 pies and an apology about the online service severely over estimating the time. I tipped well. If you hadn't guessed it, the pizza was awesome.

Yelp
We just ordered a pepperoni thin crust pizza and had it delivered to our hotel room using Door Dash. It got here quickly and was still hot and cheesy. It came exactly as described and had good flavor. The sauce has good flavor and the thin crust was crisp. The price is pretty average for a better than chain pizza - not over the top but not exactly cheap. We did request parmesan and peppers and didn't get any - but don't know if that was the restaurant or the dasher. All in all - happy with what we got.

Yelp
Can't really review the food when the Yelp page says it's open til 11pm but the kitchen was closed when I got here at 8:25pm. The place has a quaint old lodge feel. I got a drink but the lime it was served with was left over from the Reagan Administration. Last I checked limes were green but this one was more grayish brown and it was soft and slimy like it had seen better days. It def has that neighborhood bar feel. Came in to charge my car and have some dinner but I guess I can charge my car and have a drink and a prehistoric lime. The bartender was friendly enough and quick to get me a drink. He did offer peanuts so not a total wash on dinner. I'll come back some time and try it again. They definitely need to update their hours. I probably wouldn't have driven over here to charge had I known I couldn't grab a bit to eat,

Yelp
Classic tavern style pizza. Probably some of the better tavern style you can find in the north burbs
google avatar

Diane C.

Yelp
Service was great! What a pizza joint should be. Excellent cheese on pizza. Give it a try!

Joachim G.

Yelp
The place is nice but was quite crowded and therefore a little hectic. I would have loved to get the table at the fireplace (but there was a group reservation already). Love they're still offering peanuts! Their pizza is great, not exactly cheap but really good. I am looking forward to summer as they recently finished a new outside seating area that looks really neat ! All in all a good place to be (again if you don't mind it being busy). I'll be back !!

Amelia M.

Yelp
The pizza here has been the best in the area for the over 40 hrs we have lived here. The restaurant is getting a bit worn looking but it is woody and cozy. Service was fine.

Shawn M.

Yelp
A peanuts on the floor place. Better to eat in than their take out. Great wings, we asked for the wings to be extra crispy and naked. Almost like broasted chicken. Solid blue cheese and hot sauce no celery or carrots. We had a thin crust and double decker, both sausage and asked to be well done. Both pizzas were great and several pieces to go.

Nate S.

Yelp
Took 10 minutes to get our drink order, ok maybe she was busy. No problem; another 8 minutes to get the drinks while the waitress talks with the hostess and checks her Facebook status. Wife and I wait 50 minutes for our food. Ok, this better be some good pizza right? Pizza arrives, no plates or silverware, she asks us if we need it! I remember when you got sat to a table and plates and silverware were there for you. I guess those days are gone... One of the pizzas is incorrect as they used a unique blend of veggie cheese and burnt mozzarella to cover the mistake. Terrible front room service accompanied by long wait times and incorrect burnt food. All could've been avoided by better communication!! I miss pre Covid service!!! It's a shame, the place has a nice vibe to it!
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
The absolute best double decker pizza I have ever had the pleasure to eat! Others come close but there's something about Bill's Pizza. The way you can throw the peanut shells on the floor the whole ambience with the stuffed animals me my friends used to come here in high school and it was just such a hoot. I'll go back there anytime I'm in town.

Yelp
Bills is a nice place with a hunters and Wisconsin charm in need of fresh air, air filters, and a good cleaning. The bar and food areas were clean but the overall room needs care. The musty smell took away from our visit but the pizza was OK.
google avatar

Pancho K.

Yelp
I've been going to Bills for years, and they have the best pizza around. Great atmosphere, fun for the whole family.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Nice staff. Great pizza. Easy pickup. Easy ordering. Easy to get in and out of this location.

Robert L.

Yelp
Have been eating Bill's pizza since the 1960's and they were great for a long time. Last couple years quality of pizza has gone down and price has gone up. Ordered a couple 9" pizzas to go, crust on both was too chewy. Bill's used to make a good crust. Have to order extra cheese to get enough. The price is too expensive for what you get. Done with them and looking for a new pizza guy.
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
What happened to Colleen? She's the only reason we came here!! Just not the same vibe without her.
google avatar

T G.

Yelp
It's ok when you eat inside, but their outside service is AWFUL. Slow.....and I mean very slow service over multiple visits. The pizza this time was served "coolish"....like the server disappeared and someone else came out with the pizza. Especially bad since they are expensive compared to other local pizza places. Get bottled or canned drinks. I've never had a good mixed drink here. I ordered a spicy mango margarita and it tasted like bath water with rubbing alcohol. Again, awful. Only gave them two stars for the great outdoor area and for the memories of great pizza of the past.

Robert K.

Yelp
Good Pizza but very expensive. Service was good, and people were friendly. The drinks were basic, with no frills at the bar. Bills has been around for a very long time and it seems to be a favorite. To be honest I don't know why.

John S.

Yelp
Bill's has become a staple in my friends and I's lives. We head there almost every Friday for the deep fried pickles, pizza, and fish dinners! Sherry is our favorite bartender/server! She is so welcoming and knows our order before we sit down! I look forward to my next visit!

Denise B.

Yelp
Have never been treated so rudely by staff. Was taken to a booth however, felt it was small for our party. So we asked to be seated in a larger booth. Was told quite rudely we'd have to wait because that server had just been seated although the booths in that section were empty. Left us standing there at the hostess stand and was scolded by the bartender for being rude to his manager (the teenage hostess). All we wanted was to be seated in a larger booth. We would have gladly waited for our server to finish with her table that was seated previously while we sat in the larger booth deciding on our order but was never given that courtesy. Went up the street to another pizza place and the service was the complete opposite. Won't be returning to Bill's but will DEFINITELY be going back to their competitor.

Yelp
What a great classic still family owned and operated place ..... great cold beers, baskets of salted in the shell peanuts, sandwiches and pizzas!!

Yelp
Updating again! We went this week and it was just like old times. Pizza was great, well done as we had asked for. Server was attentive and got our order correct. They now have a beautiful outdoor patio which we look forward to using another time. The bathrooms are still a bit smelly but it's old plumbing and the air freshener helps. I'm happy that we can continue loving Bill's again!
