Go to Branson, Missouri, for the Dinner Theater, Stay for the Real Show | Eater

"A popular local mini-chain for breakfast famous for oversized servings—most notably mammoth 14-inch pancakes that hang over a standard dinner plate—drawing crowds with hearty portions and theatrical presentation." - Amy McCarthy

The atmosphere was Great and the Home town feel was absolutely what I expected as this was my family's first time eating here. We have heard it was a good local place to eat even though there is ALWAYS a wait and depending when you get there may be longer than others up to a few hrs... so if you can wait for a little while the food is really good and they do hold up their side of the bargain on a good time and Good food. Great job and keep up the Great atmosphere.

Went for dinner but ordered breakfast. The bacon was a nice appetizer. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The pancakes are enormous. Even the donut was superior. You'll need to bring an appetite to finish the whole plate. We took home leftovers and enjoyed them again for breakfast.

Google
This is a friendly restaurant, walls full of history. Our server was warm, thoughtful, and experiences. When we ordered ultimate breakfast, she told us it came with 2x14" pancakes, and a toast. She immediately suggested other choices for us. Also, when she gave us the Togo box, it obvious show us the bottom side of the box. We will definitely go back again.

10 stars! PROs: Fantastic place. Eclectic vibe. No wait time. Away from the Branson strip. No traffic. Surrounded by trees. Great service from Christina K. Plenty of parking spaces and indoor seats. The food was great as well. CONs: The wall fan in the front room. I believe the parking lot is a dirt lot something to consider during inclement weather. Looks are deceiving. The place looked small but it goes beyond to the back and it was packed. Approx. $33 (before tip) we ordered Ultimate Breakfast Combo and Bacon, Egg & Avocado with eggs. This is our official breakfast place when we visit the area again. Thank you Billy Gail's for an amazing experience!

Kimmie K.

Google
Our server Christina was very sweet and extremely attentive. The food was absolutely amazing! My husband and I shared a Mama's Peach Cobbler pancake, and we individually got the Sloppy Biscuit breakfast and Gail's Ranch Breakfast. I cannot express enough how DELICIOUS all the food was, especially the pancake! It truly did taste like a peach cobbler. I highly recommend coming here for breakfast!

Google
So so good! Homestyle houses like this are a dime a dozen in towns like Branson. But when the size of even the kids confetti pancake overwhelms you - only to be topped by the wonderful flavor of the chicken fried steak - only to be coupled with the sweet and savory billion dollar bacon - you’ll find yourself wishing you had a Billy Gail’s in your hometown!

Google
We stopped for lunch on our way back to Branson. Seated immediately, friendly service. Meats smoked in house! We had pulled pork, and tri tip for meats. Sweet potato fries were hot and crunchy. We watched other large portioned dishes be delivered to other tables, including pancakes the size of a family size pizza!! No kidding! We're going back for breakfast tomorrow before we leave town.

Google
A must stop if your in the area. But expect to wait. We arrived at 9 am on a Saturday and had a 45 minute wait, but it was worth it. The pancakes are amazing in both size and taste. French toast combo was yummy. Once seated, the service was attentive and fast. And even the rest manager stopped to check on us. Clean facilities, large parking lot.

Yelp
After driving overnight from Denver for our vacation, we were starving. Luckily, Billy Gail's was open and seated us right away. Our server was so amazing! I regretfully forget her name, but I want to say it was Regina (sorry, if I'm completely off on the name). We were greeted immediately upon being seated where our server told us she would be right with us after attending to another table. Once she came back, she introduced herself and told us about the specials then asked if we would like coffee. Yes, we both definitely want coffee. She went to get coffee and allowed us to look at their extensive menu. We ordered the billion dollar bacon as our appetizer. I ordered their deluxe hash with tri-tip and the hubs ordered their chorizo burrito. The billion dollar bacon was so heavenly and I used the syrup to sweeten my coffee, which was so perfect! I can put down a lot of food, but that hash came out and it was HUGE! I ate it for about 45 min before tapping out and it looked like I took only 2 bites. That hash lasted me 3 more meals! It was so delicious and I wanted to eat more, but clearly ran out of stomach real estate. The hubs' burrito was delicious too and he only ate half of it. Had it been my meal, I would have eaten the entire thing but still would have been waddling out. The MOD came by to see how our meal was and of course, we told him it was amazing! If you love country food, you definitely need to come to Billy Gail's! The prices are amazingly low for the amount and quality of food you get. Get there early though, especially on a Sunday.

Yelp
This pancake was so delicious! We loved Billy Gail's so much the first time we couldn't wait to go back. This is a fun quirky restaurant! Our server was quick and friendly.

Yelp
This was the very worst meal we had while on our trip. The waiter Joshua was slow to greet us and once he took our order we never heard from hom again. If you want a big pancake by all means go. The French toast was mediocre and the chicken fried steak was burnt and inedible. The decorations were cute with a 70's theme. This was a big bummer for us.
google avatar

Darlene A.

Yelp
First Time for our guest 2nd for us. Good and service was amazing. Got a birthday pancake sooooo good! We will return!
google avatar

Carol A.

Yelp
A lot of food! The service was good. Fun decor and gift shop. The restaurant was crowded the entire time but we got right in and the food came out quickly. All the customers seemed very happy.
google avatar

Kelly G.

Yelp
One of the best breakfasts I've had. The pancake is huge, has crispy edges and is super delicious. The bacon is perfect too, service was wonderful and they served delicious coffee during the wait. Staff was kind and atmosphere was cute. I would go back anytime! So good!

Yelp
Of the places we tried during our short visit to Branson, this was my favorite. There are 3 Billy Gail's locations in town - this is the original location recommended to us by a local as the go-to place. Be prepared for a wait though as it's a popular spot. We arrived around 8am and waited about 45 minutes. The parking lot was already quite full when we got there. We ended up parking in the dirt lot adjacent to the restaurant, and even that was starting to fill up. Despite how busy it was, it was well worth the wait. The food was very good with generous portions that didn't disappoint. The classic eggs and bacon plate was tasty and well prepared. The corned beef hash was one of the better ones I've tried. For those with a big appetite or looking to share, they have a signature 14-inch pancake which caught everyone's attention as it was delivered to a neighboring table. If you're in the area and don't mind a bit of a wait, I'd highly recommend this spot for breakfast. Come hungry and enjoy the lively, eclectic atmosphere.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service was amazing! The pancake is the size of a pizza! You won't be able to finish. The prorations will be good for a couple days!!!!! Best coffee of my life! You'd swear it's French press. Also billion is not really baxon. It's soft pork belly. Love it! Also love unpretentious appearance. Looks like a country restaurant. Can't fault them.
google avatar

Carolyn P.

Yelp
Only a 30 min wait, so not bad at all but it is Nov in middle of week. Ordered French toast that came with huge mound of butter in middle, great. We had the omelet with mushrooms, Ham, cheese, pepper n onions, Great Side of reg bacon, Great. Service was good but waitress could of been friendly. All in all we enjoy when we are in town. It's on our list.
google avatar

Vatoya D.

Yelp
Yes yes yes and yes so Billy Gail's definitely can do a filling satisfying breakfast well done started coming here about 4 mos ago and every time no crumbs left....
google avatar

Cara M.

Yelp
Wow is all I can say! 5 egg omelettes and 14" pancakes will feed you for days! Our waitress was highly attentive and the area was like a clean, well oiled machine! It is a large restaurant and it was packed but no one missed a beat! We were served quickly and the food was wonderful!
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
Listen!!! We waited 30 mins for this food because I heard it was so good. And when I tell you IT DOD NOT DISAPPOINT‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼‼ Yes I had to put that much emphasis on it because it was that good. Apparently this is a big tourist spot but it's very welcoming, like going to grandmas house. The service matched the food, top tier. Our waitress, the young lady that brought our food out, even the people sitting next to us were extremely nice. The seats are pretty close together but everyone around us was friendly. It was like dining with strangers. When I come back to this town, this will definitely be a stop!
google avatar

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Fun place with insanely large pancakes! Service was attentive and we enjoyed everything that we ordered. Portions are big so sharing might be a good idea or you will be walking out with take home boxes. Generous pours for the mimosas. We will be back!
google avatar

Dianne V.

Yelp
This is a nice casual restaurant with an eclectic decor and friendly servers. The star of the show is the food - great taste and large portions! Pancakes are HUGE - 14" diameter. Regardless of what you order, it'll taste great and you won't leave hungry. I wish there was a location in St. Louis County, so we could go there regularly.

David F.

Yelp
We've enjoyed Billy Gail's at two other locations for years, and this was our first time at the Highway 265 location in Branson. The menu offers so much variety that our family could all get their favorites. We had a great meal, including breakfast at 7:30 pm! Its popular because of the proximity to Silver Dollar City, but we were able to get in and out with only a short wait. Our server was nice, and kept our drinks filled! We'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Holly T.

Yelp
We heard so many good things about this place we had to stop in on our way to Silver dollar city. We had a great waiter who explained everything we needed to know. Of course we had to get the famous pancake and it's literally the size of a large pizza but was so good. We did our best to make our way through it. I Also got Gail's breakfast which was three eggs hash browns bacon and toast and they were also very good. They have plenty of space inside and everything including the bathrooms were super clean. The wait was only about 20 minutes around 11 am. If you are this way you gotta stop in - one of the best meals we had in Branson.
google avatar

Marissa J.

Yelp
I have to say these were some humongous and delicious pancakes. I felt like I couldn't come here and not get a pancake, so that's exactly what I did. It was so good and flavorful. I of course enjoyed the eggs and bacon that went along with it. I certainly recommend getting the pancake if you were coming to eat here. The service was fast and our food came out in a timely manner. I also liked the different decorations around the whole room it was very different.

Marty C.

Yelp
Good food. Good prices. Great service. Love both Branson locations. Have eaten here for years and look forever to returning each year when we visit.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
We tried eating here the day before but it was almost an hour and a half wait so I decided to go today, only a half hour wait today. Expect LONG wait times. We got our food about 15-20 minutes after ordering. The service was very good, very attentive. Lots of decor to look at. The seating area is VERY cramped when it's busy and the tables are pretty small. Definitely need a bigger dining area. The food was okay. I was expecting it to be some shockingly good food but it seems that everyone comes for the portion sizes or I just got unlucky. The bacon, ham, and sausage was pretty good and my wife loved the French toast but everything else didn't really stick out to me. The eggs were pretty sad and the hash browns were crunchy like chips. The pancake was alright. The price was pretty good for how much food we were able to get. About 18-22 per person. I would probably go back and try it again.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Food is average. Making it large doesn't make it great. 5 egg omelet was not 5 eggs. Just average food with higher prices. Inside is nice with a fun decor. Staff was friendly and helpful but nothing outstanding. Fun first last time honestly.
google avatar

Soncerae M.

Yelp
Billy Gails is a must- go anytime we're in Branson! But get there early because they're popular and for good reason! The gift shop in the front is super cute and a nice distraction for kids. The staff has always been kind to us and the food comes out very fast. The portions are generous so be prepared to share or have boxes!
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Great food, quick service, lovely atmosphere. Everything was cooked well and to our liking
google avatar

Neeca B.

Yelp
Tenderloin was huge but mostly it turned out to be the breading. Not bad though, this is not the place for avocado toast. Although that's what I got, stick with the burgers or what they suggest. I wasn't hungry at the time but my group was. There's always to go. Low in staff but when we did get helped they were really nice and did came within 15 minutes. Clean bathrooms and big parking lot.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Foods okay. Service was slow. I'll give them another shot. Typical southern Missouri in the woods restaurant.
google avatar

Cheryl W.

Yelp
Great ambiance, great service, great portion size, and great experience! There are a lot of restaurants to pick from in Branson and this is one of my favorites! I recommend it.
google avatar

Glen V.

Yelp
My wife and I have eaten at both locations in Branson, and there are some differences, though some will likely prefer one over the other, mainly about the size of the respective places, parking, and the size and spacing of the tables. Food was good at each. Two words for anyone who likes sweet breakfast: "French Pancake"! Large portions, so be ready to have dinner leftovers.
google avatar

Tony F.

Yelp
Wait 1 hour for a average breakfast - won't go again - there's got to be better breakfast spots in the area - just so-so in my opinion
google avatar

Becky S.

Yelp
Great breakfast! Expect a wait because they are always busy. Big portions, good food, and good service. The 14" pancake is massive!
google avatar

Kathryn S.

Yelp
You will not leave hungry, the food is great and plenty. Delicious pancakes, biscuits, hash browns! Very good service, long wait but worth it. The interior is fun and memorable.
google avatar

D C.

Yelp
Wonderful food, cute little place. Great service, and all kinds of food options. We only had breakfast while on vacation and will be headed home soon, kind of sorry we won't be able to sample the rest of the menu!
google avatar

Eugene A.

Yelp
Great place to eat. The,service was very good. The service was fast and friendly. The food tasted great. The decor was very cool. I enjoyed the scenery . Plenty of parking. The prices were reasonable. They had a good variety of soft drinks. I would recommend this place
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Amazing service and even better food. Best breakfast I have ever had! Our family had pancakes, omelette, French toast and biscuits with gravy. Everyone said best breakfast ever

Keri R.

Yelp
What a great place! Definitely going back! We shared the Ultimate Breakfast with an upgrade to the Blueberry Lemon pancake and it was amazing! As was the "Billion Dollar bacon"!

Hal E.

Yelp
The pancake is a meal all to itself! With that said we received great service with a friendly staff! The food was fresh and hot with minimal wait time! The omelette was delicious and the pancake, well let's just say a large pizza is no match!

Chelsea J.

Yelp
Fun. Good food. Tons of food. One meal feeds two. The pancakes are fun to order and take a picture of but they are just cheap box mix. Country fried steak was fabulous. Omelette was good. Chicken was good.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
A Branson must! My family comes here every trip--sometimes more than once. Huge portions, delicious food, and a cozy, fun atmosphere. The pancakes are massive and fluffy, biscuits are perfect, and the chicken fried steak never disappoints. A tradition we never skip!
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
There is a large parking lot but it still doesn't seem enough when this place is busy. We had a 45 minute wait arriving at 8:10am but by the time we were seated they were quoting 1.5-1 hour 45 minute wait. The interior has 2 different seating areas and our waitress was super efficient handling her tables and keeping things moving along. The food came out in a decent amount of time. My hash browns were good and crunch and the meat lovers omelette was good as well. There were healthy portions. We came back the next morning and I had the corned beef hash. It was so good. The corned beef was big healthy chunks.

Exzetta S.

Yelp
We went to the Original location in Branson. Our server was super friendly and very attentive to us. The food was absolutely amazing and plentiful . We literally ate the pancake for 3days and still didn't eat it all. Even though the pancake is 14" it's also thin and moist and the syrup was delicious too. I will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Charlene T.

Yelp
Best fried chicken ever. The service was great too. So much food for my meal that there was no way I could eat it all. Our server Summer was awesome.
google avatar

Melicent J.

Yelp
From when our waitress Erica came and greeted us to when we left both time the service was excellent. Food was plentiful and amazing! We will definitely come here again!
google avatar

Jo B.

Yelp
We were at the second Billy Gail's location. We have heard great things about the original location but this location had a much shorter wait. We may have realized why. While it is a cute place and portions were HUGE, we were a little disappointed in the quality of the meal. I ordered the Campfire Skillet. I ate the eggs and some of the skillet, but was rather greasy. I still filled a large takeout box. The 14" pancake is novel and was probably the highlight for what the table ordered.d. It is very thin, but good flavor. The kids enjoyed their Mac and cheese as well. I do hope we can try the original because it we have heard great things
google avatar

Brandy G.

Yelp
Service was good, the place was clean, and the staff were very friendly and nice. Food was okay, nothing spectacular but just a regular breakfast spot. Meat Lovers Omelette - regular omelette with a lot of meat, we liked that they put onions and bell peppers on top of the omelette as well as inside. Country Potatoes - you can tell they don't specialize in this style of potato. My fiance and I both don't care for hash browns so when we asked if they can do anything else (such as country potatoes) they were a bit confused. The potatoes were not seasoned and didn't come with onions or bell peppers like we are used to at other breakfast spots. Biscuits & Gravy - very good flavor and how I expect this side to be. This may have been the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had! Patty Melt - super bummed they had swiss as their only white cheese you could get. Usually I get pepper jack on my burgers and patty melts so I was a little underwhelmed with this patty melt since it was either swiss or cheddar cheese and I have never liked swiss. However, the sautéed onions, the meat itself, and the bread were all good! The thousand island that came with it was also super good! The fries were very generic, nothing great about them, they tasted like fries you buy in frozen bags. Service - 10/10 Food - 8/10 There are a lot of little knick knacks to look at while eating so we thought that was pretty neat. The portions are huge so you can definitely split anything! The pancake we did not get but is absolutely gigantic so take this as a warning! LOL
google avatar

Kat T.

Yelp
Had to see what the 14" pancake was all about. Hubby and I shared the ultimate breakfast which included 2 eggs, hash browns, ham steak, sausage patty, 2 slices of bacon, and a 14" pancake. We were both completely stuffed and had plenty left. It was delicious. Service was great, prices were excellent, and the place is a quaint country diner. Lots to see. I would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Jana N.

Yelp
FYI, their pancakes are hands down the biggest and most flavorful I have ever had! We ordered 2 of their breakfast entrees, which were delicious in themselves. But the reason we came here and will tell everyone else to come here is their pancakes! They have a sweet vanilla flavor to them, soft and moist and so delicious! This is a must stop for breakfast!
google avatar

Tracy W.

Yelp
Usually long wait times at peak season but it is worth it! Get the pancakes! It's a tradition to go to Billy Gail's!
google avatar

Kory P.

Yelp
Food was just ok. Heard a lot of good things so it might have been a bit overhyped for us. The best thing was the biscuits and gravy I thought. We got the belly buster (that came with the 14" pancake) and some French toast. We were able to share the 3 meals with 6 people.
google avatar

Jennie K.

Yelp
Got in quickly on an early, rainy Tuesday morning. Our server, Angela, was terrific! This is our MUST HAVE breakfast stop while in Branson!!
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Service was great - Angela V was awesome. It was a great place to eat and we enjoyed it immensely.
google avatar

Sherry H.

Yelp
Sloppy biscuit was awesome. Staff friendly and service was fast even though the place was packed. We were seated quick even though people were waiting but as a party of 2, they got us in and out fast.
