Where to Eat and Drink After an Adventure in Forest Park

"Few dishes hit the spot after a chilly, damp forest hike better than a bowl full of warm, tender noodles. Bing Mi graduated from a popular nearby food cart — which continues on — to this cozy restaurant. While the cart specializes in jianbing, a kind of crepe from northern China, noodles and dumplings are the name of the game here. Sweet bean flavored zha jiang mian is the flagship noodle offering, and 10-piece dumpling sets include combos of ingredients like pork, cabbage, chives, and shrimp. Check the boards for current beer and wine offerings." - Nathan Williams

"This sibling restaurant to jianbing food cart Bing Mi serves hand-made dumplings and noodles alongside rice bowls and snacks. Dumplings include meaty versions like beef-and-onion and vegan dumpling with shiitake mushrooms and Impossible meat. The specialty here is the zha jiang mian, a pile of chewy noodles topped with julienned veggies and Chinese black bean-coated pork." - Alex Frane, Maya MacEvoy

Google
Bing Mi is my favorite place in Portland. It’s so delicious, comforting, and fresh. They have excellent vegan options. I really can’t recommend them enough. I have people who insist on eating there first when they come to town and if anyone wants a food recommendation, Bing Mi is my first thought. It’s authentic the service is fantastic. I love Bing Mi so much and everyone should try them out ASAP.

Google
Jianbing is always delicious. I've had the food cart and now I've had the restaurant. Both are absolutely amazing. The duck platter is really good, the duck isn't at all greasy and the sauce sends it over the top with the slivered cucumber for a bit of freshness.

Google
I’ve been a huge fan of Bing Mi ever since I stumbled on their original location downtown. The jian bing never disappoints and is an amazing combination of flavors and textures- highly recommend the loaded bing with Chinese Sausage! Service is always prompt and friendly too!

Google
Bing Mi has been my favorite place to eat since moving to Portland 8yrs ago. Every time someone comes to visit, I take them to try a Bing! But I have now tried everything on the menu and I love it all! Jacky is the nicest person you will ever meet and cares very deeply about quality and his customers. I cannot recommend enough! Lots of vegetarian options, too!

Google
Great spot to have a cozy meal. The chili dumplings absolutely hit the spot and the noodles were great. The owner was unbelievably nice. Definitely a gem in the NW

Google
The jianbing is delicious and fun! Not too heavy but filling. Decent prices for what you get too. The duck is good, sausage is a bit too salty for my tastes.

Google
The Loaded Spam bing was great! There was a great mix of soft and crunchy textures throughout the meal, the wonton cracker was key. Perfect size for a handheld walk around the area and snack. 10/10 would recommend.

Google
If you’re looking for a quick bite this is your place. You order yourself at the counter and the food is brought to you. The bing sandwiches are quite good but are light on the protein. The dumplings were nice but not my favorite dough: 7/10. Finally the spicy noodles had good texture and bounce but lacked a little flavor. Overall good experience and if I’m hungry and passing by I’d go again!

Yelp
One of the best places for noodles in Portland. I do not say that lightly. They have the secret recipes. I go here every month! The service is over the top, they make sure you are taken care of when you're eating. The nicest team ever. If you get a chance look the the opening to the kitchen and watch the magic!

Yelp
Let me just start by saying wow! This is such an amazing treat here on the mainland and to find it right in Portland incredible . Everything was savory tasty well prepared delivered quickly priced right and just a great hole in the wall vibe something that you just can't pass by and miss! Ordered most things on the menu and I can't say there was even one thing of possible disappointment. Everything 10 out of 10.

Yelp
I signed to yelp just to rate this place. It's my favorite noodle place in Portland and I don't say that lightly. It's fresh and so tasty. I recommend getting the Chili oil rice noodles (you po mian) and the scallion noodles (cong you lian).

Yelp
This is very cute little shop. The portions however are pretty small for the price and could use a bit more flavor.

Yelp
We became obsessed with the food truck and were delighted to hear there was an actual restaurant!!! Of course we had to get jianbing loaded and with the expanded menu we tried noodles and dumplings. The 3 items came to about $55 and was good amount for my husband, 2 littles and myself. Don't love having to bus my own table but the venue is cute and the cashier was incredibly nice.

Yelp
We stopped here for a quick dinner and got the vegetarian loaded jiangbings one with tofu and other with mushrooms. They were size of a full meal, and absolutely delicious. The tofu was soft and the mushrooms were perfectly spiced. The medium level of spicy was alright. I think we could have gone for a more spicier level. I wish we got the option of other meats like chicken or seafood. We also got the vegan wontons in chili oil and they were absolutely divine! I especially loved the extra kick scallions added to this dish. I'm definitely going to be back to try some more. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I tried this place while on a business trip and immediately knew I needed to try it again -- this time with my wife. Best meal of the trip hands down. Perfect bite for a quick meal on the go that packs a lot of flavor and provides you with your carbs, protein, and veggies. The service was quick and friendly. You do order at the bar and pick up at the bar when ready, but the staff is available to answer any questions you may have. We did go right at lunch time on a weekday, so we had no problems finding seating, but I can imagine it can be limited on the weekends. Next time you're in Portland, you need to try their Jianbings! PS: they do also have a food truck.

Yelp
I'd probably give this 3.5 stars if I could. Good place though I feel it was a bit expensive. It's counter service but very friendly staff. Food was solid and the highlight was definitely the bacon jianbing. The noodles we had were okay but I thought they were a tad bland. The dumplings were solid as was the roasted pork belly rice bowl. We had a couple beers and the total was darn near $100. Like I said, I thought it was solid but maybe slightly overpriced. Ambiance was nice and they have a decent size bar too.

Yelp
My spouse recommended this spot after visiting the food cart previously. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this meal left me in awe. We split two loaded jianbings: the five spice beef and the roasted duck. Never in my life have I had anything like this. The crepe was thin and soft while the cracker (think wonton texture) gave it the best kind of crunch. The flavors complimented each other particularly well and the freshness of the veggies amplified the contrast between them and the richness of the protein. I will be dreaming about these until we come back to Portland.
google avatar

Yelp
We loved getting jianbings from their food truck so we had to try the restaurant too. Nice modern feel and friendly service. Ordered pork boiled dumplings, which were fabulous. Tried shannxi-style wide noodles with spicy garlic/soy/vinegar sauce, which was pretty tasty. Then of course, got a loaded jianbing w bbq pork, excellent as usual. Try it out, the jianbing is a traditional chinese street food, sometimes called a chinese crepe. So good!
google avatar

Kevin Y.

Yelp
The You Po Mian was excellent, the noodles were slightly bouncy and seemed freshly made, and the chili crisp and vinegar sauce imparted a nice flavor, not spicy which my grandma enjoyed. The supreme jianbing was ok, I wish the duck was more prominent. But this place was definitely a worthwhile visit, I would come again for the You Po Mian.

Yelp
We usually go to the food cart for the Jianbings, but because of the winter, they started offering Jianbings in the Bing Mi Dumpling and Noodle Bar. Unsure if this is still the case though! This 5-star review is for the delicious Jianbing that never disappoints! There is only street parking available. The space is small and cozy and there is a limited amount of seating indoors, but service is quick, and people are usually in and out.

Yelp
This weather has me in a warm dumpling mood! Fresh noodles and steaming dumpling made it a no brainer to stop and try Bing MiDumpling and noodle bar! You grad a menu, order up front and find a seat where it's available. No table service at this location, you bus your own table. Our highlights included the pork and cabbage dumpling and the chili oil wontons. The pork and cabbage dumpling came out STEAMING and were 5/5 so delicious. We wished the chili oil wontons came out as hot as the dumplings, they were barely room temp, but the flavor was sooo good. There is limited seating inside, I could see the tables getting full fast! During the warmer months they do have outdoor seating. Bring your coat, the restaurant itself was kept on the chilly side during the winter. Street parking is available. I am looking forward to going back and trying some of their other specialties.

Yelp
This place was alright. My friends and I were trying to find a new Asian cuisine restaurant and this place was the one we decided on. When we got there, the employees of the restaurant sat us down and gave us menus. They informed us that we had to walk up to the counter and order from there, even though we were the only people in the restaurant. In general, I am not the biggest fan of having to walk up to the counter order at a restaurant. The entire place was freezing cold, my friends and I had to keep our jackets on the whole time. We did not enjoy eating our food in the cold. The chili oil wontons were very mid. Nothing special, you could tell they just reheat it from being frozen. It was more flavorful than the noodles. The noodles were so bland, barely any sauce on/in it. I was not impressed at all by the noodles. I did order a loganberry cider that was on tap and that was my favorite part of the meal. I don't think I'll be coming back here. We just wanted to try something new and this just was not it. We left feeling unsatisfied with our dinner.

Yelp
The jian bing spot in town. Have had their tasty savory crepes from their carts many times so it's exciting to get it again at their brick and mortar store. Every order is made fresh in front of the store. As packed full of eggs, meats, and crispy fried dough as always. The crepe itself was so light and slightly chewy. I also feel like they upped their portion size? But it's great to share one of their Five Spiced Beef Jian Bing betwen two people. Lovely ambience and staffs as well! What's not to like.
google avatar

Keizzel C.

Yelp
I never stopped by their food cart so I was glad on my first visit here they were doing the jiang bings here due to the heat. A little bit of a wait since they make them fresh to order but I ordered a couple of flavors such as the bby pork, chinese sausage, roasted duck, and double cracker. I love the simplicity of the dish but the freshness with the veggies, crispiness of the pancake, and fattiness of the protein. It's a big portion you can save for two meals but once you start it's hard to stop. Great option for breakfast! I came another time and got to enjoy their san xian dumplings, roasted duck platter, yu po mian noodles. Overall service was quick and flavors were not too salty. I would have preferred some more sauce to add on top but it didn't feel oily which gives the canvas to add more as you please. Solid dumplings but more on higher side of prices so come with a larger group if you want to try more items.

Yelp
Great dumplings, great noodles with amazing broth.. Just an amazing spot. Service is excellent vegan and non-vegan. Joining- Chinese Crepes on point. Have to get double order!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food! I'm dreaming of the noodles and Can't wait to go back again. I came when it wasn't busy so we got our food quick!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! It is small and hidden but the food is amazing. The dumplings were to die for and tasted so fresh. The pork belly rice bowl was also good. I wish I added a sauce to it but it tasted very good and I didn't feel too heavy after eating it. The restaurant is small so I wouldn't recommend big groups and they also have bar seating. I took my food to and the service was fast. I am so excited to come back and try more things!

Yelp
I only visited for their food cart (Jianbing). There were three staff members and the young man was the only waiter. It took a considerable amount of time to place my order. After securing the only available table, I had to clean up the mess left by the previous group by myself. You also get your water and bus the table yourself here. They seemed to be struggling, and I hope this is not a common occurrence. They forgot to put meat in my full-sized Jianbing as I didn't see any after eating half of it. They then provided me with some meat on the side to let me add it to my Jianbing myself. Got a full-sized roasted duck Jianbing next. It only had a few tiny strings of roasted duck in it and I couldn't taste them. Given that their Jianbings are already on the pricey side, I don't think the roasted duck one is worth the extra cost. I didn't have high expectations for their tea eggs to be freshly made and served hot. As expected, the eggs came out very cold like they had been pre-made and refrigerated. There is room for improvement in the taste of their tea eggs. If I were to return, I would only opt for the basic classic Jianbing and it is probably the best you can find in the Portland area.

Yelp
I'm sorry, but why does this restaurant have the ratings that it does? The service was so below average and they ask you to tip but you order at the counter and don't get to try the food beforehand, what? My expectations are high for Asian cuisine since I consume mostly that, so when I came here and I got bland noodles and average tasting dumplings I kind of wish I just went and got some dumplings and Ramen from H Mart and saved $50. The presentation itself is nice and it's located in a decent area with lots of other attractions around. I couldn't rate either of the dishes above a 6/10.

Yelp
We loved their Crepes at the food cart and decided that we wanted them for lunch one weekday but when we arrived at the Nob Hill food cart, the cart was gone. We were eventually able to find that it had moved to the old space of the industrial café and now had a permanent spot. We were able to grab a spot right away despite it being lunch hours. The orders are taken at the counter before being seated and the food is then delivered to the table. The food arrived promptly. In fact the weight was perhaps 10 minutes max . We started with the spicy peanuts and I got myself a passionfruit tea. I can't put in words how much I liked passionfruit flavor in that tea-it was mildly sweet and didn't feel artificial . The noodles were amazing, chewy and full of spice. The crêpe was as good as we remembered from our previous visits . I feel like the peanuts were the only thing that didn't hit the mark ,but I did enjoy the numbing pepper. Seating inside is limited but for the lunch hours, it felt OK . There was only one individual working -for both taking orders and serving. While efficient, I wouldn't describe their demeanor as particularly friendly .
google avatar

Pauline T.

Yelp
I ordered the you po mian which was a wide noodle. It had such a yummy sweet soy flavor. I paired it with the pork belly which was cooked very well, crispy. I'd recommend it esp if you're dining in. I tried my friend's order of the zha Jiang mian but didn't like the flavor as much as the you po mian! If you're between the two, go with the YOU PO MIAN!
google avatar

Rosa F.

Yelp
Grabbed some wonton noodle soup when I was sick. The duck broth was just what I needed to bring me back to life. Staff was friendly when I came to pickup.
google avatar

Spencer S.

Yelp
The food was really good but everything on the menu is $5 more than it should be. Also don't like how they ask for a tip when you have to order at the counter and buss your own table.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
After coming here for an event it was something I just had to share with my partner. I don't ever recall having a jianbing before, but was really glad I tried it (and so was he). This was tasty with a really great texture. Place is small though and parking can be a bear around this area so be aware. However, if you are in the area and up for something handheld and delicious this is a good option. Super friendly staff too. Reasonable prices too.
google avatar

Gene W.

Yelp
Great place for slightly different Chinese takeout when you're at the edge of Slabtown or NW 23rd neighborhoods. This place is known for noodles, dumplings (both OK), but renowned for jianbing. Jian bing is a Chinese crepe-like egg wrap filled with Asian flavors. While the flavors are all there, unless you order a loaded or double meat jianbing, don't expect too much fillings. Prices for this wrap run from $10 to $18. Not a lot of dining space inside and it's counter service. Place is usually bustling due to uniqueness & general affordability. Also, since it's at the edge of the busy commercial area, street parking is limited and $s. But just a block away (N or W), free parking.

Yelp
For our first dinner in PDX, we picked BingMi and we got two of their most popular noodle dishes. The dishes were flavorful but for the Zha Jiang Mian, the noodles were a bit uncooked throughout. It was located on the outskirts of PDX and overall we would come back to try their famous JiangBing. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors, decently quick service. Order and self-bussing
google avatar

Kara R.

Yelp
What an amazing new place! Their jianbangs are incredible- it really is like a Chinese crepe. I loved the five spiced beef one in particular, the meat was so well cooked and spiced. The pork and cabbage dumplings were delicious, perfectly cooked and flavored. I am already excited to go back again and excited they got a brick and mortar store in addition to the midtown beer garden food truck! The inside is a little small and you do have to order at the counter and bus your own table so not the fanciest ambiance but the food is very worth it
google avatar

Christopher M.

Yelp
The food was delicious and served hot! Perfect bowl of broth, noodles, and mushrooms. We also ordered the duck platter and pork belly bites. Both very delicious, and perfect snacks. The wonton noodle soup and the yang chun mian noodles utilized the same broth however used different noodles. Pretty tasty place, would recommend order a variety of dishes and highly recommend the crispy bing mi! We had the duck one. I think some hoison sauce , chin su sauce would have made the experience better. We did have chili oil as an available option on the table. Location was nice, cozy little restaurant. Would come again.
google avatar

Dylan S.

Yelp
Pretty solid place with a slightly pricy items. Over all pretty good but it's just not there for me for a fantastic 5 star. FOOD We ordered a variety of dishes of noodles and dumplings. The food was pretty decent but the flavors were just okay. Kind of on the blander side. The portions are just okay. Borderline not worth the price they're charging at. SERVICE Service is pretty solid no complaints there. The ambiance is pretty chill. It's a very small restaurant but they decorate it super well!
google avatar

Yelp
A place to grab a quick lunch near the Adidas Employee Store. The clientele were mostly what looked like college students. The Zha Jiang Main had thick udon like noodles, pork, some fresh veggies on top, and a salty sauce. I had wanted to compare it to the Korean Jajangmyeon, which is sweeter and the vegetables are cooked into the sauce, thinner noodles. These thicker noodles were a little too thick imo, which takes away from the simplicity of this dish. But it was interesting to see how they differ, since the Korean version was based off the Chinese style and developed to fit the Korean palate. The dumplings were tasty! Would get those again, but the highlight for this place for sure are the Jian Bing which is a crepe like "tortilla" stuffed with a crispy wonton cracker, egg and a choice of meats or tofu, rolled then folded in half for easier eating as a sandwich. Would definitely come back for these! Service is order at the counter and self bus your table. Very casual place.
google avatar

Yelp
UUUGGHHHH these dumplings were AMAZING. the lights on our side weren't working but I really enjoyed the blue lighting, made it feel more secluded and away from the hustle of the outside. cozy and fast service.
google avatar

Yelp
This small, unassuming dumpling spot put in Slabtown is the kind of local whole in the wall you'd love to share with your friends. I think, however, Bing Mi has a lot more to work on before they cement themselves as a solid recommendation. On a cold day like today, the Wonton Noodle Soup Special felt like a perfect answer to warming the body. The noodles were soft and plentiful and the wontons were very flavorful, though fell apart before I could grab with my chopsticks. The broth was delivered fairly lukewarm and wasn't long before it cooled down. But overall I'd say the weakest element was the flavor of it all, which was very bland and lacking. I think this needed a bit more of a punch to it and not let the wontons do all of the heavy lifting. All that being said, the meal was still enjoyable. If I were to go back here, I wouldn't get the Wonton Noodle Soup Special again and more than likely just get an order of dumplings on their own.
google avatar

Kyle C.

Yelp
The set up this restaurant was order at the front, seat yourself and get water for yourself. I've noticed that most of these restaurant type set ups lack great customer service, unfortunately. The only dish that was worth going back for is you po mian dish. This dish tops any other noodles I've had from similar Chinese restaurants. The noodles were fresh and a good combination of flavorful + spicy. I also enjoyed the wonton soup as it was filling. We had also gotten the chili oil wonton which was not warm one bit which was incredibly disappointing as this dish is typically my favorite from most Chinese restaurants. Shrimp, pork and chinese chives were decent but the best part was the fact that they were filling. The 5 spice beef platter was a cold plate which we hadn't been expecting -- it'd be nice if this was noted on the menu so we'd know what to expect. Unfortunately, it'd be hard to say that we will be back given that there was only one dish that we really liked.
google avatar

Yelp
Walk up, no welcoming from staff. Order first & staff has hand on the screen watching you tip before any service has been performed. In fact, you seat yourself, get your own water and if need be get your own towel to clean the tables from the previous customer. Oh, and you bus your own table. Food is clean tasting but a bit on the bland side if one is used to a saltier/oilier level of flavor. Wonton soup came out piping hot, great for a rainy day. Outdoor picnic table seating available. We thanked the angry cook for the meal as we left and he gave a no response glare. No thank yous or good byes from this small neighborhood shop as the staff watched us leave. They seemed to be in a glum mood.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been eager to try this place for a long time and finally came for dinner. I had the chili oil wontons, roasted pork belly bites, and the you po mian. All the dishes were a miss. The chili oil wontons and you pon mian lacked in the flavor department. The wontons were not spicy at all and were quite bland. I had to dip them in the sauce that came with the pork belly. The pork belly bites looked real sad because it was missing the best part, the skin. Maybe I ordered the wrong dishes or came at the wrong time but I was highly disappointed.

Yelp
Went here because we love the food cart that serves the bing mi! Overall eating here costed us around $32 bucks, for the value of what you get it's very lack luster... I suggest the food cart 10/10. There are better dumpling spots and hand pulled noodles in Portland on 82nd and Powell... Chili oil dumplings: 2.5/5 Filling was just minced pork and felt very very bland, traditionally dumplings have more texture to them, usually with mixed cabbage to add better bounce. The chili oil was spicy and robust but that was it. Pork belly special: 2/5 Saw they had a pork belly special and was interested per the description of marinaded pork belly that was crisp to perfection- what we got was lackluster and very small in portion for $11-12. Basically deep fried pork belly that was overly fried, no real sauce.

Albino R.

Yelp
Delighted by their kindness and commitment to providing good quality service!! They made an error and fixed it right away. They also allowed us to keep the food and gave us the correct order! The duck was crispy and tasty ! We ordered the port and beef dumplings and the signature Taylor it was amazing!!!! Will be coming back
google avatar

Felicia E.

Yelp
Ordered a bunch of dishes to-go and was kindly offered my locally made fresh soy milk while I waited. It was just-enough sweet and not at all grainy. The You (think yo! not u) Po Mian, Cabbage Pork Dumplings, Tea Soaked Eggs, and Roasted Pork Belly Bites were delicious. Don't forget to ask for chili oil with your takeout order!
google avatar

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
I went to the food cart and it was closed. A sign told us to walk a couple blocks down to this location. I ordered their duck jian bing and it was great! I love the amount of duck they put in and the crunchy donut as well, just wished they put more sauce! Will be back next time to try other menu items. I will say the ventilation inside was pretty terrible. It was so hot and humid from the kitchen so we sat outside
google avatar

R F.

Yelp
The jianbings are delicious! I dream about them a lot. They've gotten pricier just like everything else, but they still make them the way they always have. In terms of the noodles, I've only tried the Shanghai style noodles and it was good, but not great. I'll order something different next time.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
I really love this restaurant. Their dumplings are delicious and like no other dumplings in Portland. They have fresh beers on tap, and it seems like it is family owned and ran. We have been there a few times where the service has been a little lacking, but above all, it is great!!
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
Finally, I had a chance to do dine in versus takeout. The interior is pretty small and cozy. You order at the station and the staff will bring out your food for you. We ordered a handful of items to share, which included - 5 spice beef platter, chili oil wontons, pork &cabbage dumplings, and You Po Mian noodles. The noodles were very good as they were fresh and full of flavor when mixed in. The wontons and dumplings were of great quality. Overall, it was a great experience.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Fresh hot delicious and a really good price for the classic size if you're looking for cheap yet special this fit the bill. We are looking forward to going back to try other flavors. It's like a crepe with delicate crunchy bits inside scrambled eggs and and just the right amount of sauce.

Yelp
Honestly not very impressed with the food here. The place offers self service..so order and pay at the counter and they bring your food to you. It did take a lot of time even though we got in real early for dinner and there were at most 4 tables occupied at that time. Anyway..the food was not worth the wait. We got the vegan and beef dumplings, thin noodles, rice noodles and rice bowl. With Tofu appetizer. Everything was pretty bland..and lacked spice. I was expecting this place to at the least be satisfying since the reviews suggested so... definitely disappointed. Ambiance is good...has indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly service and parking is street but not very easy. No reservations so it's a FCFS basis.
google avatar

Melia F.

Yelp
I love this place! The chili noodles are impeccable, make sure you add Chinese sausage! The congee is a rotating flavor, we got mushroom and it was amazing! Location is cute and the decor is comfy, and staff were kind, I will be back!
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
We ordered dumplings and noodles as well, but the highlight for me was the duck appetizer. It was served cold which was a surprise but it was delicious. I liked the filling in the dumplings. The wrappers were too thick for my personal taste, but they're still worth trying if you haven't!
google avatar

Yelp
I was craving vegan dumplings but this restaurant is almost as far in the opposite direction from my home across town as you can get. I made the trip anyway and I was not disappointed. Their vegan dumplings ticked all the boxes. I also had the vegan noodle dish, it was so delicious. Be sure to mix it well as the sauce likes to hide underneath. The restaurant itself is modern, a bit tiny and clean. The staff was very friendly and upbeat. If you love dumplings and noodles and you find yourself in this neighborhood, I recommend you stop in.
