"Cozy coffee shop favored by the author for writing, notable for offering a fun coffee flight and a relaxed atmosphere conducive to working or lingering over drinks." - Rachel Chang Rachel Chang Rachel Chang is a travel and pop culture journalist who contributes to Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Lonely Planet, and more. "“Bird and Branch is the coffee shop that I would frequent the most when I was in the show. They have this drink called Birds of Paradise, which is iced matcha with coconut water and a big piece of pineapple and some young coconut meat. It is amazing. That would be what I would get all the time. My normal everyday order, whatever coffee shop I go to, is just an almond milk cappuccino, and they do that well, too. They also have great pastries, like a kouign-amann—for me, it's that crunchy caramelized bottom bit. It started as a queer love project, and you can feel that vibe when you walk in. It's definitely a very inclusive space. Everyone is welcome and the people that work there feel like they're part of a family.”" - brennan carley
"A good coffee shop is an essential component of any successful food hall, and we’re glad that Bird & Branch anchors this one. If you’re looking for a straightforward single-origin drip or a well-crafted latte, they have those, but the specialty drinks are the main draw. The options change often, but you can expect to find highly photogenic layered drinks, like hummingbird matcha floating on top of raspberry lavender soda, or the unlikely but delicious Sunbird, with pineapple juice, coconut milk, turmeric, ginger, and espresso." - carina finn koeppicus
"Brandon and Faith Lee are both Chinese American and co-owners of Bird & Branch, located in Hell’s Kitchen. From the name and mission to the menu itself, every detail here is intentional and selectively curated. The Lees created the shop with the purpose of giving back to the community by providing a job training program for folks with various barriers to employment, including victims of trafficking and people caught in the shelter system. They also partner with Saint Frank Coffee roasters because of their conscious relationships with coffee producers. Order the Nightingale—one of the many menu items named after a bird—a mix of earl grey tea steeped in milk with espresso, along with the delicious egg sandwich, which integrates Chinese ingredients from childhood snacks they grew up with, like rousong (pork floss) and ginger scallion." - esther cho, with warm welcome, kenny yang
