The 10 Best Restaurants In Clapham

"Bird & Tie has one focus and one focus only: Nashville-style hot chicken. Deep-fried pieces covered in a cayenne-heavy dry rub or hot oil, it’s the kind of tear-inducing spicy chicken that only a handful of places in London serve. And the dishes you’ll find at this small spot directly opposite Clapham Common are worth breaking a sweat over. Come here for a casual, comfortable pit stop where you can eat messily and worry about wiping your hot oil-covered hands later. The Best Hot Chicken Sandwiches In London

"Slap bang opposite Clapham Common, this small but serious operation is all about Nashville hot chicken. Hot chicken burgers, hot chicken tenders, a literal mountain of thick-cut chips topped with yet more hot chicken—you get the idea. It’s a casual spot with exposed brick, neon signs, and a menu that revolves around deep-fried poultry. We’re big fans of the classic burger with the Nashville hot oil, but you should know that you can pick your level of spice. It’s perfect for a low-key dinner with a group of friends, or a 2pm brunch when half of the group is in the mood for waffles and the other half is in the mood for a burger." - rianne shlebak

The Best Pop-Ups In London Right Now - London - The Infatuation

"Black Hatch Pizza @ Bird & Tie / Tues-Sun / Indefinitely  Pizza and fried chicken are a winning combination. And thanks to this Detroit-style pizza pop-up that has opened in Clapham’s Bird & Tie, you can get both in the same place. Thick crust pizzas are topped with things like caramelised onions and mushrooms, or halal pepperoni and jalapeños." - Rianne Shlebak, Sinead Cranna

Bird & Tie - Review - Clapham - London - The Infatuation

"Bird & Tie has one focus and one focus only: Nashville-style hot chicken. Deep-fried pieces covered in a cayenne-heavy dry rub or hot oil, it’s the kind of tear-inducing spicy chicken that only a handful of places in London serve. And the dishes you’ll find at this small spot directly opposite Clapham Common are worth breaking a sweat over. Come here for a casual, comfortable pit stop where you can eat messily and worry about wiping your hot oil-covered hands later. It’s the kind of laid-back place that’s perfect for a lazy weekend lunch, or for an after-work dinner when you’re in the mood to get down and dirty with a fried chicken sando. And even if the exposed brick, moody dining room isn't packed with people, you'll quickly realise—when seeing Deliveroo drivers picking up order after order—that even if locals aren’t physically there, the comfort food here is the kind you’ll try once and crave again. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch That comfort food menu is filled with fried poultry in as many forms as you can think of: hot chicken burgers, hot chicken tenders, a mountain of thick-cut chips topped with yet more hot chicken. You could pop in for a solo Nashville-inspired hot burger, but we think the best way to enjoy this spot is with a few friends. That way you can order the mammoth portion of dirty bird fries, a hot burger each, and whoever isn’t in the mood for a sandwich can opt for the sweet and spicy chicken and pancakes. Depending on your chosen heat level, i.e. when you inevitably show off by going for the ‘poultrygeist’ to prove just how much you can(not) handle your spice, get involved in the refreshing drinks. From an Arnold Palmer frozen daiquiri that’ll ice your tongue to a chocolate fudge cake milkshake that’ll ease you into dessert. A fun, reliable spot, this will soon be your go-to for fried chicken sandwiches in the area, because Bird & Tie makes hot chicken that will stay in your mind long after the stinging has left your lips. Food Rundown photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Nashville-Style Chicken Burger Deep-fried chicken thigh, slaw, pink sauce, and tangy pickles all stuffed between two slices of a buttery potato bun. This is our favourite burger here and our go-to spice level is the Nashville hot oil—it’s spicy, smoky, and filling enough on its own. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Dirty Bird Fries There’s a reason this portion of chips is £15.50. And that reason is that it’s enough to feed a school bus of children after sports day. A platter of double-fried thick-cut chips, covered in slaw, pickles, melted cheese, and obviously deep-fried hot chicken bites. A forkful of this is a party in your mouth. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Nashville-Style Chicken Sando There aren’t enough good sandos around so when we find a new one, we get kind of excited. And this crispy, aesthetically pleasing number comes with a little tub of pickles (!) and some pink sauce for dipping. It’s a yes from us. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Chicken N Pancakes Spicy fried chicken, dense pancakes, and a sweet maple syrup—this is moreish and a great brunch option when it’s too early for a burger. Although, it’s never too early for a burger." - Rianne Shlebak

The chicken was tasty and crunchy. It hits the mark of flavourful crunchy, flavourful burger with the right amount of spice. Between Mild dusting and hot oil I didn't find a huge flavour variation. I did enjoy the buffalo sauce on the burger. Rosemary fries were great. Really enjoyed the funnel cake. The trays were pricier than I'd like, but with 40%off during the offer period it was fine. Drinks were nice but in smaller (plastic) glasses than you'd expect. The food is quite filling, so I wouldn't buy too many add ons. Service was friendly. Servers had a good memory. It was odd that there wasn't someone with the customers a lot of the time. Also, it's a fully halal menu! It's right opposite the station.

I thoroughly enjoyed the food from here, the chicken whilst it is fried is done in a slightly different style that was just so refreshing. The Nashville boneless hot chicken was all fully Halal and beautifully done, especially with the dips (ranch is a must). The sides were very good as well with my personal recommendation being the jacs! The staff were super attentive and extremely nice throughout the evening, they definitely went above and beyond! I didn't get a chance to try the desserts out as they were closing but they sounded amazing on the menu so I'll definitely be back to try them out some time soon!

Brilliant place for fried chicken, has a great selection on the menu from burgers to wings to tenders, all with different levels of spice and sauces. Portion sizes were very generous, burgers were huge, wings were crispy. Only slight downside was that the food did take a while to arrive.

The servers were really attentive and would recommend and described each item on the menu, the food came out reasonably well timed. The food really good, I especially liked how they put items of the burger on the side if don’t want it inside. The venue is quite small but cosy, would visit again.

Not from this area at all but was soo lucky to know I was near by, I advise you if it’s 1 hour within reach from your home you should definitely try it . The shop is quite low key and you must know about it to enter otherwise easily missed , abit dark and soulless if I’m honest , even though the guy working there was superb, very attentive and tried his best to be there upon raising your head. Now getting to the food , after attractive Instagram reels I came across from bloggers I must say the images , videos are a true replication of the food, Very very tender full of flavour chicken. Can’t fault anything we ordered and pink sauce is so so good . Wish they would open a branch north London side . All the best and thanks for bringing Nashville style chicken to London

Cosy, comfortable restaurant 1 minute from Clapham Common tube station. I ate Succulent chicken fried in their signature Nashville oil with Hash browns, pancakes and a mini pot of maple syrup. Great portion sizes, and good value for money. Excellent choice of cocktails, mocktails and soft drinks to compliment your food. Good selection of Vegan options. Food is served hot and retains its heat to the very last mouthful. Was a first visit, will definitely be going back.

A wonderful new addition to Clapham, we came on a Sunday evening and were welcomed by friendly staff and a great atmosphere We ordered the lychee ranger and country sunset to drink and had the cheesy nash, everything nash, dirty bird fries, and nash cream burger which is admittedly a lot but it's tough to narrow it down when there are lots of tempting choices on the menu As a non-alcoholic drinker, I appreciated how many different mocktail choices they had and how tasty they were! The frozen daiquiris were also a good accompaniment to quell the burn from the fiery kick of the chicken Be warned, the spice levels here are not for the faint of heart! There's a vast range of spice levels to choose from and if you like your food spicy, this is a place that's up for the challenge. While I typically prefer a beef burger, I was impressed with how juicy the chicken in the burger was, and the soft, chewy texture of the potato bun. The dirty bird fries are a huge portion for two people to share when we had a burger each but fear not, they have takeaway boxes for that 😉 To finish off a very comprehensive and tasty meal, we had the nash cream burger which is perfect for anyone who enjoys a sweet and spicy mix. Sadly we didn't have space for the churros but that just means we'll have to make another visit in the future!

After a positive takeout experience, I have to lower rating to 2*: food is ok, prices are right but service is lacklustre, 1 napkin per table and you have to ask for more. I came for the 40% off food offer but unable to apply by using the online menu (though burger meal was still good value at £9.5) 20 minutes after placing my order, the waiter came to tell me the chocolate churro sundae was no longer available. I said caramel was also fine but I also didn't get the burger meal of the same order. 10 minutes later I complained of the further delay (2 other tables got their food before me, 30 minutes are ridiculous for a chicken burger with hash browns) and, miraculously, in 10 mins burger arrived with the apologies from the chef. As I didn't want to wait any further, I chased for the Sundae and it also came soon after. I don't recommend unless you want to spend half an hour to eat a burger.
