A cute bakery offering sweets and savory foods like sandwiches, chicken and tuna salad, and such. Polite customer service. The interior isn't that big but there are small and picnic style tables to sit at. One particular thing I liked was that I was offered honey to sweeten my latte. I appreciated that as one who tries to avoid artificial sweeteners. The frosting on the strawberry cupcake was delicious! Great strawberry flavor! Carrot cake was moist, lemon curd in the special was so good, and the coconut was mellow.

Bird Bakery is my favorite breakfast hangout. Feels like I still like in the Small Town I grew up in. Everybody knows you when you walk in the door. 4 th of July so we are having homemade Apple Pie for breakfast with fresh whipped cream. Yes, I said homemade because it’s from scratch… if you understand that terminology:). Usually order “Deconstructed” Breakfast sandwich. Happy 4 th everyone. Oh and don’t forget to order custom cookies and cakes .. they are amazing.

The Californian Turkey and corn chowder were delicious. The chips were very stale. The spinach artichoke grilled cheese was oily to the point of not being edible. Cute place with friendly service. Not a lot of parking available.

I was actually planning to go to a different restaurant down the road, but it was ridiculously busy. Surprisingly, Bird Bakery was just a block away and not busy at all. It is a cute bakery/eatery with a variety of options. There were very few people and plenty of seating and it appeared very clean (although I did not visit the restroom). It was early, so we ordered breakfast. I have to say, the avocado toast was unimpressive. The bread was not very toasty and it just tasted bland. My mom ordered the breakfast sandwich and did not mention any complaints. We did order a couple of bakery items, to-go. The Mexican Hot Chocolate Brownie was delicious, as was the orange- cranberry scone (according to dad). I did not order cupcakes this day, but I have had them in the past. They were okay, but not something I would seek out. There were items for sale like birthday cards, candles, stickers and mugs. They also have a small area that can be reserved for private events (as advertised).

I decided at the last minute to order cupcakes for my daughters first birthday party at the park! I wanted them to be a hit, not just regular HEB cupcakes because I wasn't doing a smash cake. I got the classic yellow, salted caramel, and another flavor and they were a hit and delicious! They were about $5/cupcake - my dad couldn't understand why I would spend that on a cupcake but I thought it was so worth it because it brought my vision to reality and I think food should always be great at a party. Anyway, I coordinated everything in 1 day via email, the payment process was easy, and they let my friend pick up for me with no issues or confusion at all. Thanks for the memorable experience!

Attended a bridal shower in a small room off the main store. They provided small sandwiches, baked desserts, and drinks. One staff member attended to our needs and it was just a wonderful experience. I would definitely go back for lunch and try other items on the menu and even consider using this location for a small party in the future.

Google
Bird Bakery did an incredible job with a smash cake for my daughter’s first birthday. The whole process was great- from choosing the size, flavors, and decorations. Laura helped capture my vision and made the whole process feel so special. The cake turned out so so beautiful- better than I could have imagined AND it tasted so delicious. Their cupcakes are also amazing. We got a dozen for her party and they were a hit. Lots of flavors to choose from and they even have gluten free options. Lastly, the staff is always kind and inviting! Shout out to Eileen who did a fabulous job decorating 💗🪲

Google
I went in to buy a pumpkin cheesecake for someone, but ended up eating it myself because that other person wanted to play games and act like they were interested, but in reality, they didn’t want me. So i bought the mini cheesecake for myself. Their lemon loaf is fresh and so is their pumpkin bread. Delicious!!

Yelp
Arrived in San Antonio.,,first stop was to grab some of my favorite items at Bird Bakery...banana nut bread, cranberry walnut cookie and coffee. Because it's Mother's Day weekend I grabbed a beautiful Mother's Day cookie. My mother has gone on to be with the Lord, but I have a surrogate mother I will give it to. Service as always was fast and great. John was very kind to ask if I needed room for cream in my coffee. I do not always get asked this question, but so appreciate when I do. Great entry to San Antonio...

Yelp
Everything was very good, from the coffee to the salad and dessert that I ordered. The place was very accommodating, even letting me bring my dog inside on such a hot day. Its a cute little place, but very small so a bit tight. probably gotten instagram popular which can sometimes be its own kind of curse.

Yelp
AMAZING BAKERY. The cupcakes here are phenomenal. They have many fun flavors like Elvis and Chocolate covered strawberry, and the minis are a great way to try more. The breakfast sandwiches are a bit on the smaller side but really good. The coffee was good and free refills on the house. They are so smiley and happy here which can be rare so we really enjoyed our morning here.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is absolutely delectable! Rich, sweet, savory, light... whatever you want, they have something on the menu! Clean and cute but gets VERY busy! For how busy they are, wait times for food aren't bad!

Yelp
Been here twice! Cute spot in a sweet part of town. Fair warning -- the coffee is sweet! Tried the banana bread; it's solid, though not spectacular. I haven't tried their cupcakes, but they look delicious. The people are genuinely kind, which makes the visit worth it.

Yelp
Driving down the street to get some coffee this morning and saw this place. Stopped by to get some breakfast!! Omg I'm so glad we did because it was delicious!!!! I orders spinach artichoke grill cheese!!! it was so cheeses and flavor!! My boyfriend got the Pimento Popover and he's said he was good. We shared a lemons pound cake slice and it was to die for. They had so many baked goods to try. Can't wait to go back and try something different. The place was cute and has plenty of seating. The staff was quick and friendly. Not many ppl in the morning but still a good flow of them coming and going.

Yelp
Bird Bakery is a nice place with a cute vibe, matching the rest of the neiborhood, the coffee is good and the best part was the cupcakes. The service is very kind and fast. Whatever you pick will be a good selection.

Veronica H.

Yelp
Great selection of pastries. Their individual pecan pie is perfect for sharing or just for yourself to indulge.

Yelp
I was really excited to try this bakery after hearing such wonderful comments from friends. Perhaps it was just an off day for the team. Although plenty of staff was on hand, they seemed I ordered a vanilla cupcake with pink icing and it was just underwhelming. The texture was over baked, dry. The icing had very little flavor which was a real disappointment. Since I love cupcakes, I'm willing to give them another try one day and update my review.

Yelp
Such a cute cafe & bakery!! I went to pick up some sweet treats for a friend and grabbed a coffee. So cutely decorated inside. Huge assortment of treats and have a breakfast and lunch menu as well. Will definitely be returning to try more of their menu! Can't wait!

Yelp
Overrated. I've ordered cakes that didn't wow us. There are better cakes in town for the price. I love the cute idea of mini cupcakes in an egg carton. But they always end up smashed as you can see and the cake is always dry and dense.
google avatar

Yelp
The bakery is a very nice place to sit and enjoy coffee and a pastry. There are plenty of tables. I had a cranberry-orange scone and I've had none better. The service is friendly and efficient. Will definitely return.

Yelp
Lunch today was a tarragon chicken salad sandwich .. savory with a grained mustard, greens, and a tomato. The sandwich was super large, and the flavor was really good. I like the variety of hot teas ... went for the spicey Turkish tea. However, I am still not a fan of the cupcakes ... thick rather than fluffy, tasteless. The service was fast and friendly. The parking is sparse.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and pastries. The sea salt peanut butter bar was amazing. The crust on the bottom was great, not soggy like some bottom crusts. The servers are always very sweet and every time I have been they've been well staffed. The ordering line moves quick and they're keeping tables clean. The interior is super cute, very picture worthy all over. Perfect spot for a girls lunch or sweet treat stop.

Yelp
Lives up to the hype! Jennifer offered gracious and professional service. Quaint and cute spot in an off the beaten path location. Mint julep cupcake is my fave. My girls had the award winning carrot cake and the salted caramel cupcake. All were delish! In from California, but being in Texas we HAD to visit Bird Bakery! Thank you for a great experience!

Yelp
A sweet place for ladies who lunch. As I am one of these now, I enjoy meeting friends here for conversation and a nice salad or sandwich. Of course the cupcakes and cookies are also good.
google avatar

Lianna T.

Yelp
Kind friends from San Antonio brought us an assortment of GF cupcakes, and we now must visit the bakery in person. My partner usually lets me know when baked goods are good for "GF standards", but these were deemed delicious by any standards. The cupcake itself is tasty and the frosting is decadent and rich.

Yelp
I first noticed Bird Bakery from across the street last weekend, and had to try it at my first opportunity. The menu looked delightful and prices seemed reasonable assuming the quality would be high enough. Well, it is. I really enjoyed the "Bb" Tarragon Chicken Salad sandwich (which I am told can also be served salad style, and that the "Bb" indicates a house specialty), cappuccino, and coffee cookie. The orders are cheerfully taken at the bakery counter, and is brought to you when ready. It was all delivered quickly, considering the level of food quality, by friendly people with genuine smiles. The server also checked back with me later on to ask how everything was - an unexpected thing for this food service model. It is a bright and pleasant while busy and fairly noisy place - noise which I would normally find somewhat irritating - but somehow felt altogether cheerful instead. The food was served on ceramic plates and was delicious. The cappuccino was sadly served in a paper cup. I found out later that all I had to do was ask to have it in a ceramic cup. So happy days next time! The capp was a very good capp needing only one packet of sweetener (the best need none). I highly recommend Bird Bakery. I know I'll be back - next time for a breakfast!

Yelp
Food is wonderful; fresh from scratch with herbs. Love the cute tea shoppe vibe in this quaint bakery. I've had lunch and cupcakes here and their recipes are delicious. Service is pretty good except you should always check your togo orders before you leave as they consistently forget items even when it's slow. A bit overpriced but it's located in Alamo Heights.

Yelp
I stopped by today for a special treat. I purchased a Mexican chocolate brownie, a decorated cookie, and a molasses cookie. I was surprised that these items totaled $14.50, but I'm worth it. When I got home, I was very disappointed to discover that the brownie was as hard as a rock. Previously, these have been very fudgy and delicious. So disappointing to spend $4.50 on a brownie that isn't edible. The molasses cookie was soft, but was much saltier than usual. The sugar cookie is a 3 inch circle with a flower design ($5.50). Hopefully, it tastes as good as it looks. I have loved Bird Bakery, but this is the second time in a row that the product has not been what I expected. Consistency is key.

Greg H.

Yelp
The Breakfast sandwich is everything you could want. Just enough with more than enough flavor to satisfy well into the day.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor of the restaurant. The staff was very nice and helpful. The cupcakes were good. My only problem was there were flies in certain areas and they were landing on the cookies & brownies. My friend refused to order. They weren't around the cupcakes. With all the employees you'd think someone could try and make sure they're not in the display. Summer is pretty much here, flies are only going to get worse.

Yelp
Such a cute place! Lots of sweet choices and amazing coffee. I truly enjoyed my matcha

Yelp
My neighbor took me to this place for my birthday brunch. So we ordered 2 muffins I had the one with sausage and she had it without. It took a long time to receive them the cashier was like you haven't received your breakfast sandwiches. Nope... She was really nice and remembered what we ordered. So finally the muffins come and they were just ok. We also went back before we left to grab 2 cupcakes (looked delicious) red velvet & strawberry, she grabbed a brownie. Cupcakes were alittle dry and the frosting had a hard coat not sure if that is because there sitting in the air and not completely covered or what. The brownie tasted good, I was able to get a sample of that. We enjoyed the atmosphere it was peaceful & relaxing.

Yelp
We ordered cupcakes for a mini office party. The cupcakes looked beautiful. I will start off by saying I am a dessert person. I LOVE desserts. In fact, I have been known to go to a restaurant and only order dessert(s). I had the vanilla cupcake and the frosting was too much and thick. The cupcake was moist but dense. This combination did not work for me. It might work for other people, however I didn't find it pleasing. Sorry

Yelp
Living in New Braunfels, we have bakeries, yet, when in SA, Bird Bakery has never disappointed. From the delicious chicken salad, protein plates, darling tiny cupcakes in little egg cartons, to the kind and excellent service. Recently, I had a few hours to wait for my granddaughter and I parked at BB, Of course I ordered a few things, and got some perfect cookies to go. Never did I feel that the business was suffering due to my bench warming in this comfy spot. The music was soft indy rock that did not interfere with any of the work I brought to do. The manager and one of the servers attended to my refills with kindness, not duty. Come early to this wonderful landmark in the heart of AH. Way to go, BB! Keep up the great work. We will always come back!

Edmund L.

Yelp
Service was good and friendly. We purchased a dozen cupcakes. Of the flavors we've tried so far, they are all lacking. They look impressive but not worth $4.50 per cupcake. Definitely not worth $50+ for the dozen. For this price, you would expect a decadent cupcake. This was not it! The chocolate cupcakes were dry. The toasted coconut on top of the others tasted burnt and ruined the flavor of the cupcake. Sorry to say...not worth it! They should provide better quality.

Yelp
Cute place!! Various cupcake options and all of them are yummy! Thicker texture and heavier dough than your typical store bought cupcakes. There are other pastries as well and light breakfasts options. A variety of caffeinated drinks hot or cold as well as tea. Great place for brunch or early Coffee :) The baristas are consistently nice and accommodate custom drink orders.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit because I love their food, so I'm being generous by rating it four stars because customer service has really gone downhill. I had two separate interactions recently with two servers behind the counter, first to order food, second to order dessert. Both experiences were equally unpleasant because the servers acted like they didn't want to be there and like I was waisting their time by placing my orders. Neither of the servers could crack a smile to save their life. Second issue: Pre-pandemic, there were physical paper menus with food options and prices. During the pandemic they switched to a QR code to scan with your phone to see the electronic menu with prices. Currently, all they offer are food options on the wall with no prices, so you have to ask how much items cost, the server guesses an amount "it's like this much" and then you are charged a higher price at the register. This is not ok! Why can't you just advertise the price of your food?? In summary...The food is great, it is pricey like others have noted and I'll wait to return when customer service improves.

Yelp
Small shop, big taste. We've stopped by here a few times for breakfast and baked goodies. This last visit I was impressed by the many flavors of cupcakes they had available. I dropped in solely to pick up more than a dozen for a bday celebration at the office. They were able to fill my order - no problem. I've had their cupcakes before...soft, moist, and delicious. If I hadn't just filled up on tex-mex elsewhere, I could've stopped here for lunch. Next time. :)

Yelp
The lunches here are creative and fresh takes on bakery and sandwich classics. Service is fairly fast and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Yelp
We love a cute bakery with a bright and light feel that makes you feel like you're in a TV show or in a Magnolia magazine. You can't leave this place without trying a cupcake. I really like the mini cupcake option size because it's just enough for a good taste and not too much that you feel like you're over stuffing yourself with sweets. We got 3 minis for $5 but they have a lot of different options for baked treats. I once had their grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was very flavorful and a little on the rich side. My only complaint is this prices but if you have the money for it, this is a nice place to splurge on picture worthy lunch. The service was great! You order and pay upfront and they bring your food out to you. Simple enough!

Yelp
I need EVERYONE to take several seats because this is hands down the best bakery in San Antonio. Honestly the texture is always soft. The ratio of frosting to cake is *chefs kiss*! I wait every year for their seasonal Nutella flavor which happens in September. Not gonna lie... I don't actually taste hazelnut in the frosting BUT it's by far my favorite frosting I've ever had prepared aside from my favorite cake which is a family recipe. The food is also fantastic. I am sad they haven't brought their pastrami Rueben back in a while. It's not a classic Rueben, but their spin is fireee. Every pastry has been delicious and you know everything is fresh and made in house. Would rate 6 stars if I could!

Yelp
The baby shower was a big hit. My daughter said it was every thing she wanted in a shower; so I thank you , Laura and staff. The entire process was easy to book and plan with you. The food speaks for itself. Laura made sure our drinks were full and she fulfilled all our needs. It was a pleasure to use Bird Bakery for the baby shower. Thank you,

Yelp
Very good! A bit in the pricey side but everything around here is.... Beat pine to cheese sandwiches! Very good chicken salad! Tried the breakfast casserole which was good, but I will likely go back to sandwiches...
google avatar

Laura F.

Yelp
I really love the pastries here. They are delightful! The service here is very efficient and quick. I came for lunch during the week and we received our food quickly. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and really liked the different herbs they used. I felt it was a generous lunch portion. I also had a hot tea but was missing a little honey. Overall, great experience I look forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Love the mexican hot chocolate brownie! Tried it earlier today and craving it again!!!!!

Yelp
I LOVE BIRD BAKERY! I have been coming here for years and the desserts and food are amazing! The inside is so cute and cozy! I definitely recommend ordering custom cakes from here! They are reasonably priced, always super cute and of course delicious!
google avatar

Krystle C.

Yelp
The cookies are to die for! I loved the monster cookies and the oatmeal, cranberry, and walnut cookies. The ambiance is great as well - very cute. I would return just for the cookies, but their lunch options also looked tasty! Service was friendly and prompt.

Melissa G.

Yelp
Ok , my daughter told me about how tasty this cup cakes and yess I love it, the only thing that i don't approve was when I came back for the second time, I have noticed this woman was there standing and kept talking to a guy who is stocking cup cakes both of them just kept on talking and it takes for awhile finally the woman was asking me " How may i help you?" Never says Hi, how are you doing?? Just straight, saying how may i help you?? I shake my head. Then , you guys should not allowed your employee putting the box below their mouth while asking customers which cup cakes do we want? Saliva spreads while you are talking I find it disgusting. Or maybe u suggest the employee to wear mask while serving customers, Other than that, the cupcakes were so good according to my visitors! Customers service need improvement! and cleanliness. That's all!
google avatar

Mariah W.

Yelp
Such a cute atmosphere and the salted caramel cupcakes are my favorite...dense and buttery!!! The sandwiches are incredible and always super fresh and I love the selection of beverages (Mexican Coke is my go-to, but they have many options like Poppi soda etc).
google avatar

Yelp
I found another gem! Fabulous restaurant to eat with friends. I had the squash corn chowder and the tuna salad sandwich. I also sampled a carrot cake cupcake. Everything was delicious. Cutest decor everywhere. Very nice staff as well. We were greeted when we arrived and told goodbye and thank you when we left. Lovely!
google avatar

Sanaz A.

Yelp
Cutest little bakery with the friendliest staff! I'm so happy I stopped by on the way back to Austin from San Antonio. The inside is so cute & I loved all of the hand pinged signs. I got the southern pecan pie with a hot jasmine green tea & loved it. The customer service was just amazing!! Plenty of parking right outside.

Candace M.

Yelp
I had a toasted coconut cupcake. It was very small in comparison to the amount of frosting. It really was a frosting dish. The frosting was overwhelming in it's sweetness. I used to love their cupcakes, but this will be the last time I get anything from them
google avatar

Deborah M.

Yelp
We were next door at Nekter so we saw this place and decided to stop in. I'll never pass up a good cupcake (my weakness)! Sadly, it was disappointing. The staff was rude and unhelpful. I was obviously bothering them and interrupting their group conversation. I tend to be super friendly and polite. I even asked if she had any recommendations. She said "no". We got two normal size cupcakes - chocolate/peanut butter and carrot cake. The carrot cake was delicious. It was very good. The chocolate/peanut butter wasn't very tasty. The icing was hard but the cupcake was moist. The most disappointing thing was the cupcake minis. We also bought two of those - coconut and red velvet. The coconut had amazing flavor but both of them were hard and appeared to be stale. Based on just the cupcakes, I might be willing to try again but with the rude staff - We won't go back!

Tina L.

Yelp
This is the second time I have ordered a delivery and the item I ordered was replaced with something I don't like. Spending 35 dollars on two desserts to not receive what I ordered is frustrating. I wish they could not let you order something if it's not available.

Shaun S.

Yelp
Cute little shop. Friendly staff and a good selection of treats. There's no prices listed though and for good reason. A single 12 ounce can of Dr Pepper to go with my sandwich was $4 so be sure to ask before you order.
google avatar

Ernest R.

Yelp
Some good seasonal snacks here and good drinks. Friendly people inside. Some really nice looked desserts
google avatar

Zahra S.

Yelp
This place has a cute ambiance, but their stuff is mediocre. We had the grilled sandwich, southern pecan pie and snowbird/coffee. The snowbird is like an affogato type drink it was good, but I would have liked it in a mug and not a takeout cup. Everything was really pricey!
