Always love stopping in, but today may be the best pizza I've had here, which is saying something! Chose the Sharpie Tattoo, and was encouraged to add everything bagel seasoning. Yum!!! Cooked to perfection with the right amount of everything. Also wonderful to take advantage of good weather in November sitting outside. If you haven't stopped by yet you're missing out! Also adding a picture of the happy tree right outside enjoying the sunny day with me.

Coming here from everywhere else, there are some real gems when it comes to food in Newport News, Hampton area, Deadrise impressed me first when I came here from more expensive Chesapeake Bay areas for great seafood, Midtown Eats has some truly inventive takes on diner food that leads to a menu that reads like a very rich life story written in food. Bird Girl Bottle Shop is one of the most interesting places to enjoy beer or wine and pizza I have seen anywhere. The simplest cheese pizza on the menu is a good test of anywhere, and they deliver on quality. Just the right amount of chewiness and crunch and touch of char on the crust, and great stretchy chewy cheese with just a bit of bite to it, and sauce giving the underlying umami tang. Solid on all the basics wins a lot of tournaments against flashy players. But then I try pizza with egg drizzled on top. It adds to that solid base a truly creative and unexpected sweet egg yolk drizzle balanced with smokey bacon, serving up something genuinely brilliant and surprising that I've never had before (a rarity at this point in my life). Definitely go here. Then come back again, and again. The menu rotates.

Some of the best Pizza on the peninsula for sure. Inspired "specials" along with a wide selection of beer and wine combined with a laid back atmosphere and casual vibes makes it a great hang as well as a great dinner or lunch spot. Highly recommended!

An outstanding local bottle shop offering an impressive selection of craft brews and wines. The pizza, however, truly stole the show we had the Sharpie Tattoo, and not a single slice was left! The atmosphere is vibrant and refreshing, a great addition to the area. The customer service was exceptional. Britt is running a top-notch establishment, and it was a pleasure to finally meet her in person! We will be back soon 😊

A gem in Newport News. Incredible pizza, great drink selection, cool art on the walls, and amazing vibes all around. They have a new special pizza each week which is fun to keep track of. My favorite so far had a thai curry base, but they've also had french onion pizzas, pho-inspired toppings, and some really out-there combinations. Also love the Sharpie Tattoo, which is one of their standards. I've never had another pizza quite like it. For me, this is a top 3 place in Newport News. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that sometimes their pizza/tap rotation cycles out something I love. But usually they replace it with something new that I love, so that's hardly a problem. Definitely check this place out, you won't regret it.

We've been meaning to try Bird Girl Bottle Shop's pizza for a while, and finally made a day trip to Newport News for a little adventure. 🚗🍕 Bird Girl is located in an adorable little cottage with quaint outdoor seating. 🏡🌳 It features a draft menu and a wide selection of individual cans where we found many unique beers and ciders. 🍺🍻 But the pizza here was the star of the show. 🌟🍕 Bird Girl has 3 regular pizzas on the menu and one weekly special. We had the "J" red sauce pizza and added pepperoni and hot honey. 🌶️🍯 We also tried the "#FFFFFF" white sauce pizza and added mushrooms. 🍄 Both tasted incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the crust was the perfect crispy texture. 😋👌 There is no indoor seating at Bird Girl, so be prepared to take your pizza to go if it's a particularly chilly day. ❄️🍕 But definitely stop by if you love hard-to-find bottles and cans and excellent pizza. 🍻🍕 Oh, and the owners have a super cute love story too (see website). 💑 @jamesandjesslivedeliciously

Pizza was fantastic. Crispy crust, excellent flavor. 👌🏻 We will definitely be back. (My husband is a self-proclaimed "pizza snob." He said it was the best pizza he has eaten to date, and we eat a lot of pizza.)

Bird Girl is THE place to go. They are so welcoming and have created a safe space for those who need it in these… times, in america. Get yourself a Sharpie Tattoo pizza and ADD the everything bagel seasoning. Thank me later. I love that they feature local artists, they hold events that cater to the community, and really have the BEST pizza around. I love having them in my community!

This place has a cute cozy indoors but the outdoors seating is great as well. The service is usually quick and the customer service is great. I loveeeee how they have a pizza of the week and change flavors. I will say if they're busy it can be a bit of a wait but it's TOTALLY worth it cuz you can have a beer, wine or soda while you wait.

We were looking for somewhere new for pizza and found this shop on yelp. It's a renovated house in Hilton village that has a large variety of crafts beers, cider and wine with specialty pizzas. Unfortunately they don't have indoor seating so this is not the place to come on a rainy day unless you are getting takeout. They have a few fridges with a larger selection of crafts beers and ciders. The staff even has some Perosnal recommendation tags. We ordered our pizzas at the counter and grabbed a picnic table with umbrella on the back yard. There's room for groups on the patio. There was also some cornhole boards and I liked the vintage can crusher on the fence to put your empties. Once our buzzer went off, we went inside and grabbed our pizza. Both were really delicious and we each took half home in a to go pizza box. This was a relaxing spot to chill on a nice day. They had some merch and artsy items from local artists. We will definitely come back here.

I absolutely adore this place!! It's a small unique pizza and wine/beer shop along side a quaint neighborhood street. I feel like you'd might miss it if you didn't know it was there but it ties in with the community so well! Walking up to the doorstep, I could instantly smell the aroma of pizza. The interior is warm, intimate and inviting like you were visiting an old friends house! There's a small room in the entrance outlined with wine and to the side where you order your pizza there are a few fridges with unique craft beers, ciders and seltzers. Something for everyone! For pizzas, there are a few favorites and an option to build your own. We tried the "*FFFFFF" pizza with hot honey and it was delicious!! Staff was friendly and we enjoyed sitting outside with the cool breeze on a Saturday. This will be a favorite spot for me over the summer!

Tried this place and was blown away at the quality of the food! The only reason for the 4 stars vs 5 stars is the very limited indoor seating. The service was excellent and did I mention the food???

We drove by this place on our way to the beach at Ft. Monroe and noticed lots of people sitting out in their courtyard. We decided to check it out on the way home. However, as we were leaving the beach the skies opened up, and we scrambled to the car. After looking at their Yelp page it appeared that they didn't really have a suitable indoor dining option. We ordered their J pizza to go with added pepperoni and mushrooms. They only charged $1.00 to add the pepperoni to one half, which was nice. The pizza was very good. Super thin on the bottom, but a thick chewy crust. My friend that lives here was glad I spied this place, as she plans to order again for her and her husband.

If this was located in my city, this would be my favorite local haunt. I am obsessed with Bird Girl Bottle Shop and I've only been once! First of all the aesthetic of this spot is everything. It's cozy and nostalgic while also being chic and hip. They have a huge selection of delicious wines as well as craft beers. When we visited there were two pizzas and a build your own option to pick from. If you're gonna take anything anyway from this review it's that the DOUGH HERE IS AMAZING! Those mixed cultures are everything. We tried the Sharpie Tattoo and the Take Me Home. The sharpie tattoo has an egg and a unique sweetness to me. The Take Me Home was like a Greek pizza dream. I also got a glass of refreshing chilled lambrusco. We sat out on their patio. The business is a home so the outdoor seating feels like a backyard with the string lights. On our visit, we met the owner and her girls. They were incredibly charming and sweet. This place is created with love and intention. In the bathroom there is a bathroom thoughts notebook that feels so grade school in the best way possible. I really love this business and highly recommend checking it out.

Got to go back to Bird Girl Bottle Shop for their Pizzzzaaaaa! OMG I had the best thin crust pizza a few weeks ago. I happened to be at Bird Girl Bottle Shop for the Holiday Market. It was a very chilly day, but the pizza sure did warm me up. The service was H-O-T-T-O-G-O (hot to go) pizza. I ordered the #FFFFFF pizza with mushrooms. I'm so glad I added the mushrooms it really elevated the tasty garlic crust pizza. I definitely recommend their #FFFFFF pizza and it was good to know you can put extra toppings on their classic pizzas. Plus I was excited to see pastry pizza selections as well as the weekly specials. I'm so looking forward to trying more on their menu for my next visit.

I love this place and her people!!! The vibe is creative, kind, calm, and connected. The pizza is a treat with just the right crust, textures, and taste. My favorite is their art market happening once monthly. Since today is World AIDS Day, I appreciated all the folks who were representing and honoring this year's theme, "Take the Right's Path: My Health, My Right!"

Okay - fellow Elites and casual readers - do yourself a favor. Drop any plan you had to eat out and get your butt over to Bird Girl Bottle Shop! Recently opened in Hilton Village, this has become our new favorite family hang out. I like it so much, I pulled a Dennis and waited for multiple visits before posting this review so I can really do it justice! So - the restaurant itself is a converted historic home with an open concept backyard patio that has sort of a beer-garden-brewery feel. They have a number of specialty beers and a really nice selection of wine available for purchase. You can purchase by the glass, or you can purchase the pack/bottle and carry the extra home if you'd like. Inside, they have a number of board games available to play, and blankets to borrow to take outside in case you're cold. Outside, they have a deck, a fire pit, and several outdoor games like checkers, corn hole and Jenga. This set up has made it a true community hub - a family friendly place with elevated food. I mean, it's a dream come true for a single mom foodie like me! They specialize in pizza. The menu is very limited, which may be a turn off for some people, but I actually like it because I don't get overwhelmed by the choices. Each week they offer two specialty pizzas, and you can always order the basic cheese pizza. If one of the specialty ones doesn't catch your eye, they are also very willing to use any of the ingredients they have on hand to add to your basic cheese pizza. For lunch, they run a calzone special that is either cheese or pepperoni (thus, for the pizzas, you can basically always get pepperoni as well). And let me say, the specialty pizzas are SUPER creative and very different than anything you'd get anywhere else. On my last visit, I had a pizza with watermelon, greens and a hot honey glaze - and I was like "watermelon on pizza?? I don't know..." but after chatting with the staff, I gave it a shot and it was absolutely delicious. I tried the calzone for lunch one day after I visited my kids at school and it was fabulous and filling. I went with the basic cheese, and then added mushrooms and onions since they had those on hand. I finished every last bite. The crust/dough they use is unique and incredibly tasty. In fact, it's literally the only pizza from any restaurant we've ever had that BOTH of my (very picky eaters) children will eat. Finally, you just can't get better service - it's very mom-and-pop, Cheers style where everybody knows your name and you become a regular pretty quickly. It's been a fantastic hub to meet and connect with people in the community. So seriously, drop all of your plans for dining out somewhere else and steer them to Bird Girl Bottle Shop.

Great pizza and even better vibes. We stopped in to order some pizza and grab some drinks. The pizza crust is amazing thin on the bottom but a thick crust. Very flavorful hot honey pepperoni pizza. They also have a vast alcohol and non-alcoholic selection so there's something for everyone. Service was quick and everyone was so nice. Outside there are games to play and dine.

My wife and I are somewhat of "pizza snobs" so when we both agree "that's a great pizza" it's a fantastic pizza! Stopped by and enjoyed the pizza and discussion with the owner who really knew the pizza scene in Hampton Roads. Wife got the "J" and I got the calzone. Both were excellent!

YUMMMMM what a find! This place just opened and it's a absolute MUST ! The pizza is incredible... I mean any pizza with a HOT HONEY drizzle on top.. count me IN! And then the wine selection and beer on tap was so divine. They are so sweet and the space to hangout is open and inviting! If you want a place to gather ... THIS IS THE PLACE

Really nice vibe in this artisan pizza and pub spot. On the surface, it's probably more of a weather establishment but it was still hopping even on a winter evening. The Wife Unit had a traditional style pizza and I had a Superbowl team themed pizza (Philly cheesesteak, first time I ever had cheese whiz on a slice, it was tasty though). The counter girl smiled all through us stumbling over the menu/order. The specialties fluctuate from week to week and I hadn't checked online first. But it still went smoothly with her help. We watched them bake the various pies while some other patrons played a board game at the neighboring table. The establishment had a variety of games you could enjoy while waiting. There were also blankets for those who wanted to eat outside under the space heaters. Both pizzas were great! The crust was incredible and both choices had the perfect balance of tastes and textures. Looking forward to trying other specialties in the future!

This place is LEGIT, their pizza is INCREDIBLE, the crust is HANDS DOWN the best in 757! Great ambience too! Great people all around. We got the Sharpie Tattoo pizza & added Jalapeños also added Everything bagel seasoning (recommended by the Owner) and it was AMAZING

This pizza is soooooo good! The ingredients are fresh and flavorful. They also have a great selection of canned beer. The service is also really great. Super nice people who are patient and informative. The ambience is very chill. I got the ffffff pizza and added mushrooms. Oh my gosh! And the crust was even good!

What a cute little spot this is! The ambiance outdoors is so kitschy and almost fairytale like. The indoor area is a bit tight since the shop is inside of a house but honestly, there's plenty of seating out on the patio. What's truly outstanding here is the pizza. I mean...the crust is absolutely outstanding. Crunchy, thin, full of flavor. I will go out of my way for this shop. Highly recommend it!

We drove by this place while we were looking at neighborhoods in preparation to move to the area, and I could tell it was somewhere we'd want to hang out often. And I wasn't wrong. We've been at least once a week now since moving in a couple of months ago. The pizza is always good and we enjoy trying the new one each week. The selection of beers is fun and we're on a mission to try them all. They have a big selection of board games, kids books, and coloring books to keep everyone entertained. Plus a cornhole set outside. They always have something fun planned on the weekends (yoga, markets, knitting club, etc). The service is always good. It's honestly one of those places I don't want to tell anyone about but also want to tell everyone about...

Finally! There's place for people who love cool ingredient combos, want to limit their gluten (cauliflower crust is 10 out of 10 stars) and have a well executed pizza. Even though their pizza options are limited, they're happy to change in/out ingredients. Bird girl does it all with a cool vibe, great atmosphere, nice selection of drinks and they also has amenities for the littles.

This pizza is the bomb! Stopped in because of the name cute little place and nice folks. Must try.

I love love love this place! Their pizzas are so creative and the crust is delicious. I was never a crust eater until I started going to Bird Girl. I love the beverage selection and they have the cutest merch. The owners are so kind and friendly that you want to keep coming back to support them.

Has a couple of drafts and bought a bottle of wine to go. Small interior but cozy. A bit pricey but will come back to try their pizza.

BGBS is such a great add to the Hilton Village area! They have done a great job renovating the space and opening it up. The pizza was delicious... we got the Susan Sarandon and it was a nice and unique lunch for two people. There was a good selection of beer on tap and in cans along with a good selection of wine. The outdoor space was so nice as there was a lot more room than it looks like from the street. The deck/yard is fenced in so it makes it great if you have little kids that want to wander a bit. A perfect place if you need a meal for the family or just want to grab a drink and enjoy the weather.

I will ALWAYS recommend this place to anyone. The ambiance of the place is adorable. They are always rotating their pizzas and coming up with new menu items. They have plenty of draft beers/ ciders and also coolers full of bottle selections as well. They also carry pappis ice cream iykyk. The staff are amazing and so are the owners

Just had a terrific lunch at Bird Girl Bottle Shop in the Hilton Village section of Newport News. I've been meaning to stop here for a while, and with the spring festival today, I had the perfect opportunity to do so. Picked myself a beer from two reach in coolers full of a very eclectic selection of beers and ciders...i got the "Jorts" from Little House Brewing...(they also have beers on tap and a very wide selection of wine), placed the order for my pie ( I got the "Homemade Costume"), picked up a sticker for my laptop and a button for my camera bag, and went outside to the patio (LOVE the Christmas lights strung over it!!) to grab a seat. My pie arrived in less than ten minutes, fresh out of the oven, and it was absolutely delicious. Thin, crispy crust with fresh toppings with lots of flavor...man it was good. I could have eaten the whole thing but I decided to save a little and i took two slices home. Honestly, if you find yourself in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by.

Went for the first time. Could not decide which type to order so we ordered the specials along with a lovely cheese pizza. Everything was amazing. The "goon" Crab Rangoon inspired. Then there was breakfast inspired maple bacon and egg..... no word to describe this deliciousness's! The cheese was our granddaughter's favorite. Nothing simple about it just delicious and pure comfort!!!!

What an amazing addition to Hilton Village! I have been following Bird Girls journey on Instagram for a few months now, watching her and her family/friends rebuilding, restoring this old building into an absolutely adorable bottle shop. Walking in you feel like you're walking into an old friends house! I ordered a Masthead Brewing Haunted Hayride Pumpkin Ale, my wife got a cold brew coffee that Bird Girl carries from Project Seed Coffee and we enjoyed our drinks out in the sun on one of the picnic tables. We also ordered the "Cloud cover" pizza which was SO delicious! This dough is unlike any I've ever had! Very light but very flavorful! The deck is beautiful and spacious with plenty of room for kiddos to run around and play! Cornhole boards, Jenga and lots of other board games were available to be played with as well! I FINALLY got to meet Brit face to face after sending messages back and forth for months and she's a literal gem! The staff was super friendly and patient with all our questions! This place is going to be the new spot to hang out and I'm so stoked because Newport News/Hilton needs Bird Girl!

So excited to have a laid back beer & pizza spot in Hilton Village! The owners have done a great job creating a great place to hang out, enjoy some yummy curated beer/wine and absolutely delicious pizza. For only being open a couple of weeks they are already killing it. Can't wait to see how they grow!

The pizza dough and the creativity on the toppings are phenomenal. The crust is chewy and flavorful, cooked to perfection in the high temperature oven! The staff was very friendly and were very accommodating to our wishes. Great selection of beers and a great patio to enjoy it all. Fantastic place!

Really cute little place. I was just wandering by one evening hoping for a little place to read quietly and maybe grab a bite to eat, and I was greeted by the most friendly people. Laid back and fun are accurate descriptors. I got to have some pizza and it was genuinely some of the best pizza I've ever tasted. That dough was INCREDIBLE! I went to Bird Girl Bottle Shop today and was blown away! I had the best pizza I've ever eaten. And the owner took the time to give me pizza and beer recommendations. Amazing food, fantastic service, and fun environment. I even left with local bottles of wine. If I lived in VA, I'd be a regular. Do yourself a favor and GO!

After witnessing two four-year old picky eaters snatch and devour a cheese pizza, within minutes of walking it into the house and setting it on the table, I was convinced that I'm not biased in my love of pizza from Bird Girl Bottle Shop every time I've enjoyed it. It's a friendly place to sit for a while, or to take-out an order of the best pizza in the city.

Great atmosphere - perfect for family outing or a date night. Our toddler loved the pizza, but particularly enjoyed the chalk and blocks they have out for the kids. The pizza is outstanding. The staff are warm and welcoming! Such a cool, local spot. I can already tell that we'll be regulars. Welcome to the neighborhood Bird Girl!

This place is amazing!! We brought our kids here to check it out for the first time, the family loves this place! The owners are extremely sweet, caring, and hilarious. The staff is very friendly as well. The environment is really nice, especially the outdoor area. They have corn hole set up so the kids enjoyed playing that along with Jenga. They also have a lot of classic board games inside that you can play. The pizza is homemade, very delicious! It's nice to have a spot new spot to bring the family where we can enjoy some yummy pizza and a drink. Highly recommend checking this place out!!
