"When: Late Night Happy Hour, Sun-Thurs, 11pm-2am The Deal: $6 House Drafts, $8 House Wines, $10 Classic Cocktails This place in Hamilton Heights calls itself a cocktail bar, but it feels more like a restaurant—mainly due to its massive space and extensive food menu. Bring a group, play some pool, and take advantage of the late-night Happy Hour (every night but Friday and Saturday)." - matt tervooren, bryan kim

"This place feels like an out-of-town chef’s one-night pop-up in the East Village, where the unusual dishes don’t seem to fit the surroundings. Mountain Bird’s East Harlem location is fixed (although it is inside of a catering company), but the experimental French food feels a little bit surprising in a space that looks like the dining room of a bed and breakfast in Cape Cod. You’ll find a rotating menu of unusual dishes, like lamb with potato-corn flan, and a friendly staff that’s always happy to answer questions about the menu. If you live in Harlem or on the UES and are tired of your usual dinner rotation, this spot is a fairly radical changeup." - bryan kim, matt tervooren

"At Mountain Bird, you’ll find dishes like chilled corn soup and ratatouille on their rotating experimental French menu - and you can eat it all on a sidewalk table underneath a tent. Check out their Instagram to stay up to date with weekly menu changes, and book a reservation through their website here." - hannah albertine, nikko duren

"This place in Hamilton Heights calls itself a cocktail bar, but it feels more like a restaurant (mainly due to its massive space and extensive food menu). That being said, there are a bunch of $15 house cocktails like the pink Shy & Humble that’s made with gin and pear brandy and comes in a glass that makes you look like you’re drinking out of a bird’s ass. For food, stick to the fried dishes—the breaded and deep-fried deviled eggs are a must-order. If you’re not ready to leave when you’re done eating, there’s a pool table in the back, and you won’t hit a wall with your stick every time you take a shot. (Because, again, this place is huge.)" - team infatuation

NYC Restaurants Where You Can Linger For Hours

"This place in Hamilton Heights calls itself a cocktail bar, but it feels more like a restaurant—mainly due to its massive space and extensive food menu. We hate to sound like that person who always orders chicken tenders and fries, but stick to the fried dishes here. The combination of sweet diced chunks of watermelon and slices of fried green tomatoes is nice, and the deep-fried deviled eggs with crispy bits of prosciutto are a must-order. There are also a bunch of house cocktails, and we especially like the Songbird Won with elderflower and lime and the pink Shy & Humble that’s made with pear brandy and comes in a glass that makes you look like you’re drinking out of a bird’s ass. Whether you’re looking for a spot to bring five friends (with the possibility of more showing up) or planning a last-minute dinner because the beef you were going to cook has stuff growing on it, Bird in Hand is a great choice. There’s a pool table in the back, and you won’t hit a wall with your stick every time you take a shot. (Because, again, this place is huge.)" - Kenny Yang
