I review this place as a kitchen for Connecticut Valley Brewing Company. If you treat this place as a standalone coffee shop, then you experience may vary.
I came to the taproom and decided to try food from Birdhouse, as this place now serves as a kitchen for the brewery. Unfortunately, my overall experience was underwhelming. We ordered a pizza, fried pickles and a cream cheese Danish. You receive bakery items immediately from the shelf, but the wait time for all the rest is pretty long. I visited this place on Monday which is not the busiest of days. Fried pickles were ready within about 20 minutes, while pizza came out only after 40 minutes wait.
The fried pickles were not good. They were crisp up to the point of being burnt, not juicy at all. I can tell that the spices they used were pretty good, but the way they fried them ruined the taste. The pizza was a similar experience - not only the crust was burnt and just too dry, it was also uneven. So some of the slices were chewy. And again, the pizza filling is good (albeit, quite salty), but the preparation was bad. The Danish was fine. I liked it, but my wife didn't.
