Austin Taco Truck Paprika Is Temporarily Closed on North Lamar | Eater Austin

"This Chestnut neighborhood wine-focused restaurant is hosting a two-week Korean pop-up called Jibbob, run by sous chef Heejae Galluccio with a prix-fixe menu and drink pairings from the restaurant’s Sophie Stuart (including rice wines); the pop-up runs July 30–August 3 and August 6–10, after which the restaurant will be closed for its annual summer break from August 11–27." - Nadia Chaudhury

I was really excited to try this restaurant because I know kind people work there. After spending some time looking over the menu, we decided to go there for brunch. I’m normally a big city bread regular but it was a nice day so we decided to try Birdies and grab a bite and sit outside. I was a bit shocked by the price point but having seen the photos of the food I decided to bite the bullet. Two sandwiches and two coffee drinks set us back $50. The cashier brought out the drinks and unfortunately stumbled on the way out, spilling a quarter of the americano. They apologized but didn’t offer to do anything else, and feeling compassionate we didn’t press for it either. When the sandwiches came, they were underwhelming to say the least. The portions were a lot smaller than anticipated for the price point. Unfortunately we made a pact to give it some time before going back. We very much want to support local businesses and it hurts me to leave a straight forward review but my hope is the feedback is taken to heart in a productive way. It felt like the staff was warm but they were having to do the best with what they had to work with. The food was tasty but didn’t fill us up for the price point. Honestly when eating out at that price point we typically have a little to spare so it was just a bit of a bummer. Wishing this business the absolute best, and the door isn’t closed forever to coming back. By the way, the coffee was delicious, and although the ingredient portions were off, the food when adjusted was also good. The food just didn’t match the portions shown in the photos online, unfortunately.

Came in for a late breakfast (10am) and the barista on staff was really nice and super chill about us being a bit sleepy and needing a sec before ordering. Vibes were really nice and food and drinks were good!

My sister and I came here to grab a quick bite before starting our day and I am so thankful we did! We got coffee, a pastry, soup, and sandwich and sat at a small two top by the cheese bar. Everything we had we demolished and didn’t get a chance to take a photo of our lunch because it was too appetizing. The gentleman working at the cheese and meat stand really went about and beyond to make sure to answer any questions we had and gave us a free sample! The level of care from everyone including the barista was top notch. There was also a woman who I believe was the owner but I could be wrong and she made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. Will be back!

Birdies is a dream: great espresso drinks, skilled baristas, super friendly staff. The market has an amazing selection of unique accoutrements, many local! Normaltown location is trendy and fun.

Hank is awesome! He helped us pick out some lovey items for a picnic. We got meat, cheese, bread from independent, coffee, and a sandwich. All were delicious

Cute spacious coffee spot. Friendly barista. They have some Italian inspired foods for purchase around the store including cheeses and salami.

I had an unpleasant experience during my visit to Birdies. The server asked me to leave the table so it could be used for other customers, which felt very abrupt and inconsiderate. While I understand the need to seat more guests, I felt there could have been a more polite and respectful way to handle the situation. Even though I was waiting for someone else to join me they started to ask me questions like if someone is coming and when is he coming and they said this table is supposed to be for 3 guests even though there is no sign on the table . They have a big space and they can add more tables instead of dealing like that with their customers.

I bought the most delectable bread, kalmota olive, and I don't even like olives. I was able to look through store at evening thru had and not feel like I was a bother. Unique items including meat and cheeses.
