Austin Taco Truck Paprika Is Temporarily Closed on North Lamar | Eater Austin

"This Chestnut neighborhood wine-focused restaurant is hosting a two-week Korean pop-up called Jibbob, run by sous chef Heejae Galluccio with a prix-fixe menu and drink pairings from the restaurant’s Sophie Stuart (including rice wines); the pop-up runs July 30–August 3 and August 6–10, after which the restaurant will be closed for its annual summer break from August 11–27." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
I’m always grateful when my schedule allows me to stop by Birdies. The ability to purchase condiments, meats and cheeses from around the world in such a peaceful atmosphere is a treat. I want to branch out, but their roast beef sandwich is my stand-by and it always beckons. It’s fantastic. Being able to purchase Independent Bakery breads without another stop is a plus too. I consistently have pleasant and helpful interactions with the staff and always feel nurtured after my visits. The small business environment is tough these days, with tariff insanity adding to the pressure. Birdies is an oasis and Athens is fortunate to have it!

Google
This place rocks. Staff is super nice and food is amazing and worth the price for the quality ingredients. I have never had an issue working on a laptop here but seating is limited. I recommend grabbing a sandwich then walking to hendershots if this is a concern.

Google
The shop was lovely, and the coffee and sandwich were delicious. However, the prices felt a bit high. We paid just over $30 for two lattes, a sandwich, and a pastry, which that amount didn't include the tip.

Google
I go there weekly for a cafe latte sprinkled with cinnamon it's awesome. One only minor issue can you get Splenda or Sweet in low. You only have Stevia and regular sugar. Overall great place and latte.

Google
My only disappointment at Birdie’s is when they run out of turkey, because their turkey sandwich is absolutely mouthwatering. And don’t get me started on the coffee ice cream… you’ll want three more pints the second you taste it. Some students have complained because Birdie’s asks that tables be used for people actually dining. Honestly, that’s just good business sense. It’s not fair to expect a local shop to survive while entire tables are taken up by laptops, coffee, and water refills. Grab your coffee to-go and enjoy the park at the Triangle instead! Don’t let a few negative voices fool you: Birdie’s is a gem. Their selection of fine cheeses and charcuterie is incredible, and their lunch menu is truly a thing of beauty. Support this local treasure, and you’ll quickly see why so many of us love it.

Google
Mediocre at best. Did not have skim milk and nothing special on the lattes. Bacon and egg croissant was not bad. Pastries looked store bought and dried out and not much selection either. Most disappointed in the time it took to get our drinks. Not sure exactly what the young woman behind the counter was doing but she was in no hurry to make our drinks. She was chatting with another employee and only started on our drinks when we went to the counter to see what was taking so long. If you are in a hurry don’t go here!

Google
Honestly over priced and disappointing. Not worth going here. The staff stand around and gossip, with very obvious attitude and anger from the guy in the back with red hair, tall and skinny. They constantly helped themselves to the pastries leaving limited options for actual customers. Negative attitude, mediocre food, and over priced. I don’t expect them to last long in Athens. Just another “owner” way in over their head. Don’t go here and waste your money for a small sandwich with a tiny pickle and no drink. Also from reading the reviews, it seems the owner likes to make unprofessional, nasty comments back and then delete them. What a joke.

Google
I cannot recommend this place enough! It is my go to when I want to feel at peace with a cozy cup of coffee in hand. The coffee is the best in Athens hands down with bold and rich flavors. The food is also exceptional with highest of quality ingredients. No coffee shop I’d rather be:)

Yelp
Delightful place that is practically empty on Sunday afternoon. Relaxing atmosphere for study, conversation, and contemplation. Oolong tea was perfectly prepared and served. The roast beef sandwich was outstanding.

Yelp
after reading all the reviews, I went to this cafe (store), I was very surprised by so many negative reviews, because I really liked it, the coffee and sandwich were great, the ambiance the service was great, the girl who served me was very friendly and nice (whose brother cooks Slavic food), I am pleasantly surprised that Ahens GA has such cool spots, I will definitely come back again P.S. I would only like more pastries, because there were no sweet pastries at lunch, I sincerely recommend it :)

Yelp
The location has been open since November 2023. Great corner shop and deli with a batista. It is a parking friendly street. We tried a few sandwiches... super good!! Lived the sauted onions with cheese and jam. Chips are extra. The service was a little pretentious, but the food made up for it. The main con was very little seating. If you want water with your meal, they have a setup at the end of the deli with 8 oz glasses.

Yelp
Definitely one of the better sandwiches I've had and nice environment. I had the Italian and you could tell all the ingredients were fresh and high quality and everything was put together nicely

Yelp
Yup 5 stars off the rip. Great coffee and pastries and the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable!

Yelp
Birdies epitomizes sophistication. It's a serene refuge from the vicissitudes of life. Or, at least, it's become my weekly, pre-church coffee spot of choice. I usually get a mocha or chai and a Danish, but their baguettes are great, too. They have a small lunch menu of sandwiches and salads. It's a combination cafe and butcher shop, so there are separate counters, as well as various delicacies--chocolate, coffee, cheese, pasta, olive oil, pickles, jam, mustard, etc..-- you can buy for your own pantry. They have beautiful marble counters against big windows facing Prince Ave, so there's lots of natural light. Hardwood floors, dark blue cabinets, and more windows in the back make it an incredibly elegant space. There are only a few tables in the back.

Yelp
incredibly kind staff, incredible ingredients and sandwiches, seeing the negative reviews blew my mind because this place is wonderful! very clean and very cozy

Yelp
This is the best place ever the food is so good, the coffees are incredible and the charcuterie selection can't be beat. Place is awesome.

Yelp
HUGE thumbs down. Just look at the other reviews - the owner is terrible to any and everyone, staff or customer. Absolute trash location - will NEVER return. If you go, make sure you don't pull out an electronic device. You also better make sure there is actively food on your table, or you will be ran at, screamed at, and asked to leave. Has a HUGE issue with anyone leaving the negative reviews she so readily deserves. If you want coffee, I'd recommend supporting Hendershots down the street!

Oak T.

Yelp
Drinks are delicious, sandwiches overpriced but taste good. Very sweet people and a very cute place

Ellen D.

Yelp
a fabulous addition to Athens; it reminds of Chelsea Market in NY when I walk in; the owner is extremely knowledgeable about fromage and my family (all being major foodies) love coming when we are in town; the cheese toastie reminds me of the raclette vendor at Boroughs market in London and if you need an elevated charcuterie board, this is the place to go!!! Well done!

Sarah P.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE! The owner is extremely rude to her customers. I don't understand how a business with a full coffee bar doesn't allow customers to use their laptops or sit at tables. After ordering a cup of coffee and trying to sit at a table, the owner ran from the other side of the store to tell us off. As paying customers, we were not allowed to sit at any of the tables because we were students looking to do some work while enjoying a cup of coffee. Clearly the owner doesn't understand that owning a coffee bar in a college town is going to attract college students. She might as well put up a sign that says "no college students allowed".

Kayla W.

Yelp
I've never entered a restaurant and been told that u an not allowed to use my own devices at my table. I can understand wanting to put a time limit on a table and that is your choice, but you had all of two other people at noon in your restaurant and you have every right to make your own rules, but I will not support an establishment that is essentially a lunch cafe telling me what I can and cannot do during my lunch/coffee.

Charles A.

Yelp
killer sandwiches and hard to find foods; I would camp out in the fridge with the olives if i could. The cheese selection is the only place in Athens you'll find some of those and the staff is super informed... I learned more about cheese in a 30 minute convo than I ever thought I needed to know. Pub Toastie is, honestly, more cheese than you really need but....so good. Crowded at lunch, get there early!

Bill B.

Yelp
Love this place, friendly people and some great provisions! Worth the trip! I especially like the different pastas and meats in their deli. Stop in and check it out!

Avery D.

Yelp
seriously never been to a cafe with so many rules. it was crowded so I came to find a seat before ordering, two minutes later when I went to order the woman at register snapped at me to order before sitting down in the future???
