Birdman Japanese Bar + Grill

We tried our luck in the afternoon and walked in without a reservation. They managed to find us a table, and the staff were very friendly. The katsu was excellent, and we also ordered kimchi on the side, which was delicious. We would love to come back again. We liked also interior design, it was very vibey. Next time we like to come at night.

Average level of skewers and plain raw beef dishes as well as tonkatsu sandwich. Both the service and the environment were unpleasant. First of all, we ordered sake in glasses. Note that we ordered glasses, not sake tasting. A normal glass of sake is 90ml in both Asia and Europe, and we got 50ml at most. It looked like a joke when you see that small amount of sake in a wine glass. When I asked for the bill, I received a bill with 4 items I had no idea what they were and they costed 12 euro each. So I asked the waiter what that was, and he said “oh they are the drinks”. However we never ordered those, and I let the waiter know that we got the wrong bill. Instead of saying sorry, he said “it’s because I’m not your table’s waiter that’s why”. Finally we got the correct bill which was 60euro less than the first bill we got, luckily I double checked it but imagine if you simply trusted their service what would happen. We were sitting by the bar table, yet the space was not enough. Every single one passed by us knocked on our backs. The foods here were nothing special, and I must say if this represents the highest standard of Japanese Kushiyaki in Athens, then I feel sorry for people living in Athens. The beef tartar and beef nigiri didn’t taste so fresh, and I guess that’s why we were recommended to top caviar to the tartar to cover it. The cost of caviar was 3 euro per gram, and it would be nice if they could let us know ahead of time how many grams they would use. Unfortunately I had higher expectations for this price range in Athens.

It was a complete disappointment. They cut the Wagyu steak three times and then grilled it again. They even sliced ​​the last one completely and re-cooked it. When I told them I couldn't accept this, that the meat had lost all its juices, they tried to convince me for nearly 10 minutes. Finally, they made a new one, with all their sullenness. If you don't even know how to cook meat, at least be polite to the customer and admit you couldn't do it. Once cut, you can't re-cook it! Other than that, the food I ordered was average. The place is small and uncomfortable. The people wearing black aprons are so sullen that they drain your energy. Only the waiters and bartenders are friendly.

We visited Birdman on a Sunday evening and were greeted by very polite and helpful staff who made us feel welcome throughout our visit. Although the restaurant is quite small, it has a pleasant and relaxed vibe that adds to the overall dining experience. The food was nicely cooked and enjoyable, with good attention to flavour and presentation. However, in comparison with other Asian restaurants in the area, the menu and dishes felt a little less distinctive. The cocktail, while well-made, was noticeably small in portion for its price, which was a little disappointing. Overall, Birdman offers a friendly atmosphere and well-prepared food, making it a nice spot for a casual meal, though it could benefit from a touch more originality—and perhaps more generous cocktails—to stand out among its peers.

What an evening! We were greeted by vinyl soul music and lovely hosts. We enjoyed our evening at the bar in front of the busy grill. Perfectly executed food: we had a wide range of japanese skewers, fresh appetizers and nice cocktails and draught beer. Everything was exeptional. Service was lovely as well and always there, when we wanted to order. Perfect in every way! It gets really busy, so plan ahead and book a reservation! Definitely one of our highlights on our trip!

What a night! Great music, great food, great service, and if that weren't enough, great cocktails. I know there are many different restaurants and bars in Athens, but there's no other place where they all come together in one place.

The restaurant was incredible, food, drinks and vibes. Amazing playlist today. The broccoli skewer was a really notable dish as it was incredible and I don’t necessarily love broccoli. I would highly recommend it to my friends to go there. I had a great time.

One of the very best spots in Athens. The atmosphere, the people, the music, and the service are outstanding. The food is out of this world: yakitori, nigiri, katsu sando, tataki, tartar, and gyoza are perfection. Cocktails and sake are excellent, and the vibe is always great with top DJs. I come to Athens frequently, and this is the place I never miss. A true must-visit in the city. As a wine lover, my only wish would be for a larger wine list, since everything else is so thoughtfully curated. Special mention to Vasya, who is simply amazing—her warm welcome, professionalism, and ability to organize everything flawlessly make every visit exceptional. Eftechia, with her passion for wine, and Chris at the bar, with his energy and talent, also deserve recognition. And truly, the whole team makes Birdman such an organic, welcoming place where service and hospitality shine every time.
