The 2023 Eater San Francisco Holiday Gift Guide | Eater SF

"From the team behind Michelin-starred Birdsong, I found Birdbox's casual spot ethos and obsession with sustainability and fermentation reflected in their branded hot sauce, which undergoes a six-week, double-fermentation using fresh and dried whole peppers, spices, and shio koji to yield an umami-rich, punchy, softly sweet condiment." - Lauren Saria

I visited this store in June 2025, there’s a great selection of birds to choose from and you can see they are all cared for. The store is clean and has a variety of perches and toys that can be purchased, along with a small selection of food and poop cleaning products. When purchasing a bird, the options are very flexible. There’s a financing option and you can also split the payment across multiple cards/send payment with Zelle or Cashapp. I really enjoyed the fact that you can pet the birds through the bars, of course at your own risk (as is stated on the walls around the store) compared to other stores. I was interested in the Sun Conures who were still weaning at the time. The owner let me hold them and they were not afraid at all! The conure actually stepped up readily which was amazing. I put down my payment to reserve a Sun Conure and took him home about a week later when they were done weaning. Upon arriving home, I put the Conure in his cage and let him acclimate to the new environment. Within 15 minutes, he was already playing with his toys and squawking to come out! He stepped up immediately and just wanted to cuddle. He’s not picky either, eating a variety of fruits and veggies. Also, it was very easy to switch him onto different pellets. As each day goes by, he becomes even more social and cuddly. Wonderful birds raised with love from this store, definitely recommend.

If we could give a 10 star we would. We just picked up the new member of our family 8/11/2025. The birdman was awesome was a 6 hour trip to come get our new family member (cosmo) and he stayed after hours and waited for us to get there. Was a spectacular experience and he was very knowledgeable of his birds. I really recommend if you wanting to buy a bird to go visit him. We plan to keep in touch and updates along our journey with our new family member.

Excellent Service! Eli went above and beyond assisting me to apply for my loan to purchase my Timneh African Gray parrot. Since I am blind, he assisted me with the application over the phone and I just had to verify the information with (UCFS) the finance company providing the financing the next day. Everything happened as Eli explained it to me. He is thorough in explaining that the bird would have to be finished with hand feeding and weaned before he could ship my bird the first week in August. Because Eli has been so helpful and patient with me, I named my bird Elias after him. I highly recommend his business for all those who are not local like myself, to make a purchase. You won't be disappointed. In fact, Eli sent me the results of the blood work as well with the information including the date my bird hatched and his gender. I couldn't be more happy! Eli has 23 years experience in the bird business and is extremely knowledgeable.

BOUGHT A SICK BIRD I wouldn't even give him 1 star of I could. Basically just fully paid out a baby bird in a full payment. He basically gave me a sick bird. I noticed she was vomiting on the way home. I didn't think anything of it because some get motion sickness from car motions . The next day and other days Days go by and she's still throwing up here and there. At first I was thinking she was doing it cause of over eating cause she was always eating . But she was also doing the feed me response that babies due when they are hungry. I thought that she did it cause she was still a baby and was just over eating to why she was regurgitating. The throwing up got to the point where she could no longer keep food or water down. Well my bird just died . I have paid to get X-ray done and vet visits for nothing . My vet told me that the bacteria she had was non resistant to antibiotics and that it had to come from the breeder or the parents of the bird. And that birds will hide their illness until it's too late. Well my too late came in and now she's gone. My vet kept telling me to message the store and see if there was anything he could do since I only had her for 2 months and basically was given to me sick and the the bacteria overgrown her in her crop. With his high high prices for his birds he sells they should already come vet checked as well . not just checked for certain disease. A whole clean health bill before they leave. Cause his bird are high in price It was hard just even getting my bird seen because everywhere is booked for visits. His thing was I should have seen a vet with in 2 days of purchasing and that I should have messaged him about the illness. I thought she was over eating that's why she was throwing up cause she was eating constantly.but the whole time she had a killer bacteria . I wasn't at home enough cause I work alot so if only get 3 to 4 hours with her .She kept eating because she was throwing it up thats what she kept doing doing the feed me cry . I don't know but I would highly advise buying birds from this man . I spent all this money for nothing but heart break. I wouldn't recommend this breeder WATCH OUT. BE SUPER CAREFUL . just because a bird looks healthy doesn't mean it's healthy they hide their illness until it does. My baby died from a bacterial infection that wasn't curable with antibiotics. Edit . Actually this was 2years ago. It was after I got married. Like I said in the above, birds hide their illness until its too late. By the time I got into a vet that took birds it was too late. She suffered the last few weeks. At first I thought she was trying to feed me. But when she kept doing it non stop that's when I went seeking for help for a bird vet. I got X-rays done , she got an injection of antibiotics and got IV fluids and got her tested for lots of things. And she also got more antibiotics to go home with. She told me that she got the bacteria from the breeder his self. NOT ME.. . I took her 2 times to the vet. The 3rd appointment she didn't make it she died in my hands.I did do what I was supposed to do and seek help when I seen that she wasn't trying to feed me she just kept throwing up. With high your prices you should always have your birds seen by a vet period before they leave instead of making them sign a paper that says must be seen by a vet with in a week of purchasing. When I couldn't get in a vet fast because they were booked out . Who sells sick birds to people. . I REPEAT I WILL NEVER BUY A BIRD FROM HIM. BAD BREEDER AND SPEAKS TO YOU RUDELY AND TRIED TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE ITS YOUR FAULT. SMH The 2nd pic was the first day I brought her home she was pretty thin. And that was her poop in the 1st pic and the 3rd pic was her regurgitating . The pic with the back pack was at the vet and the last 3 pics was right before she died

My first visit here was pretty cool! The shop’s super clean, and the birds all looked happy and well cared for. Loved getting to see so many up close. I didn’t get to meet the owner since he wasn’t around that day, but next time I’ll call ahead—everyone raves about how kind and attentive he is, and I’d love to see that in action. I didn’t realize filming the birds wasn’t allowed, and once I was told by the associate, I stopped right away. It was an honest mistake as I hadn’t noticed the signs. I just wished that interaction felt a little easier so I could continue enjoying my visit. But I’ll definitely be back—can’t wait for a chance to interact more with the birds (and the owner!). So many adorable feathered friends to choose from, and I hope to call one of them mine in the near future.

I bought my African Cape ("Buzz") from here. The owner was very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He answered all of my questions and helped me to choose just the right accessories and supplies I would need. Buzz was very healthy and extremely well socialized. Birdman parrots continues to be available to me for any questions or suggestions I might have. Thank you, Birdman Parrots, for your excellence and professionalism!

I cannot thank Eli enough for introducing and educating me on this beautiful boy. Nico is a gorgeous and super gentle green wing macaw! Anyone who wants a new companion or would like to get their first macaw. I definitely recommend this store. Eli does a great job at educating anyone on these magnificent macaws. Also Eli cares about receiving updates on your new companion. I sincerely appreciate the great service and professionalism from Eli.

Yelp
We've been back quite often and he's always been open during posted hours. Eli is friendly and knowledgable and always seems to remember us. We haven't bought a bird here, but we often buy toys and perches. We'll continue to go back!

Yelp
I wouldn't even give one star. I bought a blue crown conure paid well over 2 grand for the bird. It was more like omg he has the bird I want let's go get it. By the time I was able to get into a vet she was already on her way of dying. Vet told me her illness was caught from the breeder not from me. It was a super bacteria that antibiotics I got for here didn't do justice. She told me to contact him and he said well u should have taken the bird to the vet when u first got it. I didn't even notice she was sick at first. I thought she was just trying to feed me and when she would t stop regurgitating that's when I made an appointment and it took time to get it. She said birds hide their illness until it's too late. I didn't get my money back and he was definitely rude about it. He sold me a sick bird and I didn't even have her that long. Never again will I buy a bird from him.

Yelp
They moved to this new location. Got various beautiful birds, the owner Eli really cares about his birds and finding perfect ones for you.

Yelp
She is a Senegal. She has regrown 2 of the 5 flight feathers that were cut so she's able to glide to the floor. She is still doing this begging type behavior. It resembles hormonal behavior but she was very young, still with solid dark eyes. She's a very healthy, happy bird and an absolute delight.

Yelp
Birdmans Birds I have to say Eli is the best source to get your feathered babies from. We purchased a baby umbrella cockatoo and she arrived this last Monday. She is so beautiful, happy, sweet and in fabulous health. We took her to the vet on Wednesday to get her a check up and establish the vet. The vet praised Eli for raising such a healthy beautiful bird. The vet said Eli did all the right health test and that he did not let her leave before she was fully weaned and ready for her forever home. Our baby is in love will our entire family. This sweet girl loves to play, cuddle and give kisses. Thank you so much for our Baby, you Rock!!!

Yelp
We have gotten two of our birds from here, and they are just perfect! They're super sweet and friendly. I literally drive 3 hours to get to Birdman's for his birds!!

Yelp
I have two lovely jenday conures from Birdman's. You can clearly tell the love and care they were raised with. Thank you!

Yelp
He calls himself Bird-man. Myself and those that truly know him call him Con man. He advertised an Eleanor Cockatoo as a young, hand fed and tame bird, so I bought the bird for 4000.00. It turns out this bird was not young, nor hand fed, nor was it tame. After doing research on this Conman, it turns out the breeders that know him, refuse to sell their birds to him. JC Aviaries in Austin is just one of the breeders that will not sell to him. The reason, it's how he treats his birds, their just money to the Con-man. Two people had recently called JC Aviaries and said the birds they bought from the Con-man died from disease within a month of purchasing them. Bird-man offers a medical 48 hour guarantee however, that's not how bird diseases work, it's a useless guarantee to his unsuspecting clients. JT explained to me that the Con-man buys his birds from bird mills, or whomever will sell to him the cheapest. Due to this fact, Con-man brings in massive amounts of diseases to his store so the quality breeders refuse to sell to him. They refuse to put their birds (whom they love) through such an injustice. I called another breeder in Texas and while I was explaining my situation this breeder he cut me off in mid sentence. He asked me, does the guy you are talking about call himself the Bird-Man? I said, yes, how did you know? He said, cause I have received no less than 1000 calls from people just like you over the years regarding the Bird-Man." This breeder will not sell to the Bird-man either. This breeder gave me a phone to a bird seller very near the bird man. I called him, and he told me several nightmare stories regarding the Bird-man and what he does to birds and how he rips off his customers. Please do not support this person. His birds are not free fliers, you can buy a beautiful, tame, sexed, young, healthy, free flier for less than what this con-man charges (I did for the same breed of bird for 3800.00 from JT aviaries in Austin Tx). Con-mans birds do not come with sexing, they have their wings clipped (a very cruel practice that has a very negative physiological effect on the birds ). I smply hold out me hand and my bird that I purchased from JT flies to me. Con mans birds are sold to him by bird mills. Con-man recommends and diet for his birds that can only produce disease in the birds while the breeders/sellers recommend a raw plant health producing diet. If you buy from the bird-man, you are unknowingly supporting bird mills. Just simply ask around about his guy, I did, unfortunately it was too late for me, but it's not too late for you. Sincerely, Dr. P

Yelp
Let's keep it simple. It is the best bird breeder that you can find nowadays. Got a very healthy Quaker birb from there about six years ago, and could not be happier. Eli, the owner, is very attentive and he truly cares about the birds. He is patient and willing to educate you about your new pet, which is vital for birds healthy and happy living. Thank you Eli, truly appreciate all you are doing.

Yelp
The store has a lot of birds, buyer beware expensive and poor quality diseased birds , I won't walk in that place . Some of the older birds they are someone else pets , try to take your parrot back an hour later he will try to buy it for half the price , don't be fooled he doesn't know anything about parrots plus he doesn't even has a microchip reader that is how bad . Make sure you use sanitizer after you leave that place so oh won't carry his virus to your home . Go on line you will find better deals or find a breeder for a life long investment in a bird most likely will outlive you.

Yelp
Wanted money BEFORE singing a contract -- thats a no - also a few other sites on FB have he same pics and the ones I saw.. a girl named Marcel in the Atlanta area shares the same pics.. - I googled the store and saw no store front..

Yelp
Eli is hands down the best ... absolute best person to get a parrot from. I got a pionus, a red factor conure and a harlequin macaw from him. They are not your run of the mill birds so I wanted to make sure I got them from someone who knew what he was doing. They were perfectly healthy, sweet as can be, and beautiful as can be. He communicates very promptly. He has a beautiful selection. I only wish I lived closer so I could go visit. I live in CA and he shipped all 3 of them to me! See attached photos of my babies.

Yelp
I have been visiting Eli for years. He is extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. I have purchased everything from him; food, toys, cages, and even my sweet baby boy, Maui Jobe the cockatiel. My husband and I go in there for our 4 birds' needs but stay to hang out with Eli and play with the birds. He has a vast array of exotic birds and some of the cutest baby parrots around. If you own a bird, he has everything you could ever want or need in one place! And if you stop by, make sure to say hello to Alex the Alexandrian! He is the friendliest little guy around!

Yelp
BEWARE! BORNA VIRUS I purchased a lessor sulfur crested cockatoo over five years ago from Eli. Very sadly, I recently had to have him euthanized because he had Borna virus and developed PDD (pro ventricular dilitation disease). After speaking with many other bird owners in the area, I discovered that he probably was born with it. Eli is a bird "broker" and deals with "shady" breeders. He doesn't test his birds for this fatal disease and he continues to sell infected birds to the community. He is pleasant enough when you first purchase at his store, but is cold and stand-offish when you later(5 yrs.) inform him that your bird is sick and dying in front of you. He's all about the sale $$$

Yelp
So Happy with my experience! I live in New Jersey and received my African grey via airplane cargo. Eli was so helpful over the phone guiding us the whole time. We were a little scared about how the bird would be after the airplane and the ride home. On the last tie on the carrier he was talking!! He came right out and started eating and drinking. Within ten minutes he was at home. Thank you so much all the way from Jersey!

Yelp
We purchased a Timneh African Grey from Birdmans Parrots this week. We had the very best experience throughout the entire process! Eli takes such amazing care of all his birds. He was very helpful and informative and gave us all the information we needed regarding our new baby. We were going to fund the parrot through the financial program but changed our minds and decided we wanted to pay the full price upfront. Eli made sure to call the financing company, cancel our contract and even called them back to tell the company to send us a cancellation confirmation email. He even prevented us from making the mistake of buying the wrong parrot food, that's not very healthy, from Amazon. He made sure we had the proper healthy food that our bird is suppose to eat. I'd highly recommend going to Birdmans Parrots if you're planning on bringing a bird into the family.

Yelp
This is the best parrot store in Chicago. We purchased our Umbrella Cockatoo from Eli back in March of 2018. We had visited the shop countless times before purchasing, and were impressed with each visit. The store is extremely clean and well taken care of. Each of the birds in Eli's care are exceptionally cared for. Eli is knowledgeable and personable. Not only was he extremely helpful in our preparation and purchase Of our new bird, but he has helped us twice after purchase when needed. Our baby umbrella is now an integral part of our family and we look forward to the rest of our lives with her. Since she was hand-fed as a hatchling she is loving and affectionate with everyone she meets. Her temperament is playful, loving, goofy, and snuggly. If anyone was looking to purchase a bird, big or small, we would always recommend Birdmans Parrots. There is no doubt in my mind that this is an incredible establishment with healthy and happy animals. We are so lucky to have such an amazing store and bird expert so close to our home.

Yelp
Seems like a cool place and I look at the website before making a drive but as of right now you have to make a reservation between Monday and Friday to even go in which I wished they would've put on their website.

Yelp
I visited and researched many shops, looking for a hand tamed baby parrot on my price range, on February 28, 2018 (2 days ago), I found Birdman Parrots after doing some internet research. The shop has financing available, which I didn't take advantage of, but I did pay half on my bird and half a week later when I picked him up. As indicated in my contract, I took him to the vet within 48 hours of my purchase and he checked out fine. I was impressed with Eli's (shop owner) knowledge and patience in helping me to select the right pet for me. I love the wide selection of hand tamed baby birds. The prices are a little on the higher side of all the shops I visited; I would have rated the shop higher, but the bird I selected came with a metal tag on his ankle and Eli was unwilling to remove it (as he was afraid of injuring the bird) and recommended that I take the bird to the vet to have it removed, which I did, but it costed me an additional $26 which I was not happy paying after just paying $600 for my Green Cheek Conure. I think that if Eli accepts banded birds from breeders he should learn how to remove the bands or offer to reduce the price a little to offset the additional cost to the purchaser for having it removed by the vet. I like this bird shop! It is small, but there is a WIDE variety of beautiful hand tamed Parrots. It is a modest, but clean shop and the bird seem to be well taken care of. So that you don't do like I did, be aware that the shop is closed on Mondays and don't open in until 12:00 noon. I bought a baby Green cheek conure hybrid. My husband named him blue, he's very sweet and very hand tamed little guy that took to our family like a duck to water. I'd recommend Eli's, Birdman Parrot Shop to any friends and I'd come to him again to purchase another bird!

Yelp
I really don't understand why Birdmans Parrots only has 3.5 stars! It deserves way more than 5. My husband and I have been looking into adopting a parrot for a while now. We finally decided we wanted an Amazon Parrot. We decided that adoption would be the way to go. We get the Amazon at a Lower price and we get to give a new chance to a bird. We visited two different shelters and we quickly determined that our heart belonged to a blue and gold macaw instead. We proceeded with the adoption process but it was dragging on week after week month after month. One day I was on my home from work and I took a different route than usual and I was stuck in traffic when I noticed a small shop that said Birdmans Parrots. I passed it by and decided to turn back around and check it out. Keep in mind by this time we already knew we wanted a macaw and we knew which one we wanted because we spend time with it. I walked in and a man that I later found out is the owner Eli greeted me asked if I need any help and I said I'm just looking. My eyes came across a baby macaw and it was love at first sight. I asked if he could take him out of the cage and I expected him to say no because the other macaw at the shelter was skidding and very difficult to get out of the cage but I thought it was normal. Not this macaw Eli opened the cage told her to come on she corporates and by the time I knew it she was all over me. Kissing me pecking me talking and chewing on my engagement ring and hair. Eli gave me all types of information such as the D.O.B of the bird the sex and its habits and a little about the personality. You could tell he loves birds. I FaceTimed my husband he of course asked what the hell am I doing at a pet store when we decided on adoption. I came home and that macaw was still on my mind. Next day I drag my husband down to meet the new member of our family I even brought my 3 girls thinking that would be the only deal breaker to me not purchasing her. Yes it was a girl. My girls were momentarily hooked and so was my husband we talked about it and decided that it was a little more than we expected to spend from a day to day basis. Eli informed us that there are payment options (credit) and we knew that was the way to go. We applied with Eli's help our application was submitted we got a response momentarily. We used credit to pay for some accessories and we paid for the bird now named BABY out of pocket. By all means the best purchase we ever made. Definitely the right choice for us. On our way home we contacted the shelter that we volunteered at donated to and applied for a bird with and we were told that our application was not approved because of the fact that we had small children. Baby is great with our 4 year old and she's here to stay everything happens for a reason and I'm glad we figured out that purchasing was the right choice for us and we didn't make the mistake of taking hone an older bird (with kids). Don't get me wrong I have nothing against adoption of birds but I don't think adoption would be a good fit for my family. With that being said I will definitely be back at Birdmans Parrots for all my food, toys, perches, and accessories. And I will recommend it to anyone looking for a new feathery family member. Baby's love and the smile on my kids faces was worth every penny. Eli thank you for all your help. Thank you for all the information and the great price on our Baby (blue and gold macaw). To any yelpers. What are you waiting for you took the time to read thru my experience.... go experience it for yourself! He's even open on Sundays so you have no excuse!

Yelp
I had a great experience here! Eli is very friendly and knowledgable and willing to take time to answer questions, even after we got back home with our new baby bird. The shop itself is very clean and the birds all seem happy and healthy and very well socialized. We got a blue quaker parrot (named him Tico) here and he's super sweet and cuddly! Tico did have a minor deformity with his wing (not at any fault of Birdmans Parrots - might have been something he was born with), but Eli was honest about this right from the start and shared his vet records with us. Eli also helped us pick out a good cage and supplies for our new baby. I highly recommend this bird shop. Eli is an expert and very patient and helpful. I loved our experience and I love our baby Tico!!

Yelp
I was very pleased with the customer service I received from this establishment. I purchased a 3 month old African Grey Parrot. My baby was shipped to me and was perfectly healthy when he arrived. Eli is knowledgeable and has continued to be available to answer my many questions about caring for my bird. He always responds to my text messages in a timely manner. This was extremely helpful since this is my first bird. I am pretty sure I could have purchased a bird at a cheaper price but my bird is perfect. It was money well spent.

Yelp
Very unhappy with the customer service I received from this store after recently purchasing my Hyacinth Macaw from them. At the time we gave the non-refundable deposit and signed the contract, we were informed that credit cards were accepted. I informed them my boyfriend wanted to buy me my dream bird for my birthday. They sent the invoice to him by email, he made the payment with his credit card (for safety purposes, especially since we are in California and we were sending a $15,000.00 deposit) the contract under my name was also signed that day. About 10 days later, the store called me saying our credit card payment was going to be kicked back to us because the payment was made by my boyfriend and not me (he knew that at the time of payment & contract), and that they ONLY wanted a bank account transfer under my name. We were told if we did not, they would cancel the contract and they would sell my bird to someone else. Being forced to, I had to use my own $15k and send them a transfer to their bank account. Also at the time of the contract, we were told that the bird would come with a "no disease" warranty and that we had 48-hours from the time I got him, to get him to a vet, and in case there was a health problem they would refund me/warranty the bird. At that time we were also given a estimate delivery date of end of October (when the bird would be 7 months and weaned). In late September I called the store to make a payment towards my balance and to get an update on my bird, and I was informed that I would not be getting him until 3 months more or so, or until he was past 1 year old because he had not been weaned yet. Anyone who is experienced with birds knows the longer a bird is with someone they get attached to only them and will dislike anyone new. I do not want my baby bird getting attached to any one else but me! As I said, I also called to make a payment towards my balance. I was once gain told that I could make a credit card payment as long as the card was under the contract holder's name (myself). I made a $4,000.00 payment with my credit card (again, for safety purposes) but to my surprise, the next day the store called to tell me that "my card was a stolen card" and that I was making a "fraudulent transaction" with it. I sent him a picture of my card (which happens to be a custom printed credit card with my picture on it -something I'm sure a thief probably wouldn't be dumb enough do) , a picture of my ID, full current statements of the card, as well as statements for it from a year ago. Still, I was told that the card was a stolen card and that the payment would be refunded and once again, the store threatened me with cancelling my contract and selling my bird to someone else. I was told again, they would only accept another direct transfer from my bank account. After being fed up with the threats and the insults, I sent my entire final balance (was not due for another month) and made them send my bird finally that following week, however, the only way they would ship him to me was if I signed a waiver to any warranties on the bird (the warranties I was PROMISED when I signed the contract) Their reason was because the bird was not weaned yet and I would be hand-feeding him myself. I understood my responsibilities and risks with hand-feeding him myself, but that has nothing to do with a warranty for any diseases. Not having a choice, I signed the warranty waiver. Finally, I was told that the bird would be sent with the harness he was already "trained" to wear. When I got the bird, the harness was not shipped. It has almost been one month (received him on 10/04/21) and I have been promised his harness would be sent to me about 4 times now. Still, I have not receive anything. I went out and purchased my own and my parrot refuses to wear it. He freaked out when he saw it. Looking back at the pictures sent to me by the shop of him wearing his harness, and talking to other bird experts, it looks like the harness was too tight on his body, which could be why he freaked out and refuses to wear it. Overall, the customer service I received by this store was unacceptable, especially for purchasing a bird that was around $30,000.00, yes around "thirty thousand dollars". I would not recommend this place to anyone. I really do not like to give bad reviews, but in this case, I think people need to know. I wish I had known how their business was run, I would have purchased somewhere else.

Yelp
The self proclaimed "best BirdMan" in all of Illinois, sold us a African Grey Parrot Parrot that was supposedly gentle, 18 months old, and well socialized. He said he was the original owner of the bird, who went to a family that loved, cuddled and played with the bird all the time. He had taken the bird back to re sell because the owner was leaving the country. Knowing we were first time Parrot owners he assured us this was a tame bird. We received him late on a Monday evening (shipped to us in Texas). When I opened the crate I immediately noticed he was sneezing and coughing. I assumed it was from the dusty crate and decided to let him settle in. The bird was aggressive, bit me multiple times when trying to get him to step up. I also noticed he wouldn't eat any of the foods Elias said he liked. I then noticed he had a frequent head twitch when left alone and unstressed. His respiratory illness got worse and we got him to the vet at their first available appointment. ( Friday). The bird was extremely dehydrated and immunocompromised according to initial lab. He received IV fluids and had a multitude of test sent out to rule out infectious diseases. We found out he had a fungal infection that started in his bowels but had spread to his blood and brain as well as a bacterial respiratory infection. Elias was updated about ALL the issues we were having with the bird and when we found out the diagnosis it was very poor. The bird has been on a very strong anti fungal medication with many horrible side effects. We have been treating him twice daily for almost 3 weeks. In 10 days he's going back for a re check. The bird originally would let my husband hold him, but after all the medicating, he won't willingly go to him either. Elias has changed his story about what he knew about the bird because he only had him for sale on consignment for 10 days. Every time I try to talk to him he is condescending and refuses to take responsibility for ANY of the birds problems. By the way, the vet said he looked about 7-10 years old. Apparently, in 4 days we caused the bottom become gravely ill and completely untrained. He speaks to my husband with respect but completely changes the birds history every time. I have never seen his store and am sure he was too busy to notice the birds sneezing and head twitching. I don't think he intended to sell us an ill bird...however, I'm sure there were several more suitable birds in his shop he could have sold us. I am highly disappointed with his moral code. In this case, the customer is NOT always right, and BUYER BEWARE!!! Get your bird vet checked within 48 hours or you wil be out of over 5000.00$!!!! PERIOD

Yelp
I was looking for a Golden Crown Conure (a sub-species of the beloved Sun Conure/ Jenday Conure) and found a 3 month old at Eli's shop, over 700 miles away! He was extremely friendly and helpful throughout the process of making my baby bird my own, always returned my calls no matter the time of day, and answered any specific concerns I'd had relating to my conure's health, feeding habits, disease testing process (yes, he tests for all major illnesses), and kept me up to date with regular texts on my baby's progress, including photo's, until she was feeding on her own. On the day my baby arrived at the airport she was very happy, calm, people friendly, and well-adjusted in every way, and has been a source of constant love and amusement ever since! I took her to a local exotic bird specialist/ Vet and she was pronounced 100% fit as a fiddle! Thanks to Eli for promises kept.

Yelp
I purchased a baby male eclectus from Eli. The experience was effortless. I had my bird shipped to Los Angeles. I received a healthy and loving bird. I highly recommend Birdmans Parrots. Eli cares about the birds he sells and the customers he sells to.

Yelp
I don't even know how he passes an inspection, his large macaws are all stuffed in a small cage together. Same with his amazons and cockatoos. Their cages are disgusting, there isn't enough food out for how many birds he has. I walked in and walked out of this place. He is not an animal lover. Those birds are forced to live in terrible conditions. Very overpriced as well. Think twice before buying from this place.

Yelp
Last week I was at Birdmans parrots and Eli the owner really took care of me and was very knowledgeable and professional. 1 year ago I purchased a Scarlet Macaw and really trusted Eli and last week I came back and purchased a Blue & Gold Macaw and was very healthy and a happy bird. Eli has a very clean and well maintained store, not to mentioned all his birds are taken to the vet before they are put up for sale and guaranteed! Thank You Eli. Will be back for more!
