I have been wanting to one to Birds Restaurant for such a long time and I finally did! Wow the atmosphere is super amazing the service is super fabulous. So I tried there taco 🌮's super yummy. The chicken salad was okay. I am guessing because I eat a lot of chicken. Well any ways love Birds Restaurant in Hollywood California. Tou all must go. Plus the building is super old.

Super sad at the decline in the quality of food from this place. I got the Chicken Pot Pie and it was burnt, dry and crusty (not in a good way). In addition, this pie was one of my faves because it was made with chicken breast. This is sadly no longer the taste and the flavor and texture was a mushy messy melange of meh.

I went here during Dine LA. The fixed price menu had great choices and everything I got was delicious, and we had enough to take home as well. They have fun cocktails and it's a hoot to check out the stuff on the walls. Had to take a picture of the funky chicken behind my head!

My colleague wanted to try something new and suggested we try Birds. We always drive by and it’s packed with people. Usually it’s a sign food is good. Well for me I don’t get what the big hype is. The place itself is cool. Didn’t particularly like a sign that they have on the wall that states something about loose women. Sure the sign comes off as funny, but might make some women upset. Especially now a days. Our server was good, but seemed swamped as he had all the tables and a Buser to assist. He still remained attentive which was amazing. We ordered fried pickles. They were some of the best I’ve ever had and their sauce was on point. I also had the French onion soup. Not a big fan. Too much bread in the soup. You can also taste allot of butter from them toasting the baguette before they put in the soup. The soup itself didn’t exhibit much flavors. The mozzarella wasn’t very good either. Not sure what brand they use, but it’s definitely not of high quality. Also, this is one of the most expensive French onion soups I’ve had. For that being said…definitely not worth the price. My colleague and I both had burgers. Yes, I know we go to a chicken place to get beef. The buns were dry. Meat was cooked perfectly, but had no salt or any flavor. The Mac and cheese that came with my burger was exactly that. No effort, no wow factor, and no seasonings. Just pasta, cheese, and a sprinkle of bread crumbs on top. Box Mac & cheese is way better than this…lol. I tasted my colleges baked beans. They were good with allot of smoky flavor. All and all I don’t really know what the buzz is about either this place, because if you truly had people who had a good pallet this place probably wouldn’t be open as long as it has been. Not a fan and would only recommend the fried pickles with maybe a beer.

Yummiest meal for me with all my dietary restrictions. Rotisserie chicken - perfection. Steamed veggies and baked potato??? Perfection. Outdoor patio is really nice too.

After a hike to the Hollywood Sign, my friend found a great local business that's known for their rotisserie chicken. They have outdoor seating by the sidewalk which was full when we arrived at 130 pm but we were promptly seated after a table opened up. I had a salad with added chicken and was surprised by the large portion of chicken breast. Unfortunately I found the chicken a bit dry but the rest of the salad and dressing complemented well. My friend enjoyed the tuna burger and I noticed it had plenty of fixings and looked flavorful. The staff was great in checking in every so often, and I can understand why this place is a local favorite.

Absolutely loved this place. The food was on point across the board, portions were generous without being ridiculous, and the chicken chili really warmed this winter soldier's heart. Service was friendly, fast, and somehow perfectly timed, which feels rarer than it should be! Will be back!

We eat here a lot because my son writes and performs at UCB. The food is always good and the vibe is fun and relaxing. I recently tried the Cuban Panini and it was fabulous; very tasty and just juicy enough to make it excellent. The service has always been accommodating for our group.

Price on the menu is not the price you will be charged. The menu I received, the menu on the wall, and the charge were three different amounts. Otherwise it's fine. Good bartenders.

I have been wanting to go to this place Birds for like literally 2 decades. Well, I finally made it there yesterday. Better late than ever. Birds has been around for over 30 years. Since 1994. It truly is an interesting, cool,iconic, lovely, lively,, place with good vibes, food and ambiance. Also very CLEAN.My son and I got there around 5pm to have some dinner. We were greeted by their sweet, kind, humble host Scott that had a nice smile... and he walked us to our table immediately. Didn't take a minute before our server Gita D. approached us and took our order. I ordered their 1/2 all dark Rotisserie chicken with few of their sides on the side. Broccoli, Mac N Cheese, Cesar Salad, lavash and Corn Bread. My son got almost the same thing except 1/4 all Dark meat with one side. We shared the salad and the corn bread. Food was very tasty, except their Mac N Cheese. It was too watery, bland, lacking in seasoning, and it was not cooked right. Didn't agree with my palate. I have had better Mac N Cheese before in other restaurants. But the one I make is better than the rest. Moving forward to the service: Gita was nice, but her customer service was not all that. She only took our order and didn't see her again until it was time to pay. I mean she walked by our table at least like 7 times, and not even once checked up on us to see if we needed anything, or is everything ok? She was just there waiting for her shift to be over. It was very noticeable. She didn't even bring our food to our table. The host Scott did. Maybe they should switch positions?? Shout out to Scott for his hospitality. He needs a RAISE!!! They have a gorgeous looking Full BAR area with lots of tables and chairs for thirsty people who love and adore good quality alcohol/beverages of all kinds. Nice hallway, with clean bathrooms, and parking is another story. Good luck in finding parking. Cute patio with bright lights with full of nice people carrying conversation, eating, drinking and having a good time. I mean you only live once so.... 4 stars for the service and their parking. Will be back again to try other entrees & to have a drink. Will post pictures of BIRDS and US soon!!

We love Birds! Max the bartender is rad and so is the strength of his vodka sodas. The entire menu is awesome with a chicken-centered focus (a la 'Birds') with the burrito being my favorite to get and enjoy. This spot host a ton of funny people too - patronized by local comics and the never-ending talented groups that study at Upright Citizens Brigade. Birds is a solid hang after or before any given improv show they give there and perfect to meet up during traffic or aka 'happy hour'

Had a great experience here last night after seeing an improv show a couple of blocks away! I had here several times after seeing UCB shows but it's been a hot minute and it was just as lovely as I remembered! The vibe was fun on a Friday night and it was busy but not overwhelming crowded. The ambiance inside was quirky and upbeat. My friend and I joined a large group and they were able to accommodate extra seating for us. We sat outside which was perfect since the weather was so pleasant and we were able to people watch a bit. The service was very friendly and amicable. I wasn't hungry so I didn't order any food, but it was great to see some vegan options on the menu (although I do wish there were more!). I got a margarita which was delicious and had the perfect blend of mixer with tequila. It was just strong enough to feel a nice buzz and the rim was perfectly salted. Parking was a little tricky but I was able to find a spot on a side street not too far from the restaurant.

Walked in and was told to sit whetever I wanted and was then proceeded to be ignored...no menu/no water. Nothing! It wasn't even busy as it was a Sunday. Wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend!

Paid 18$ for the most bland and flavorless "Mexican chicken" wrap of my life. Not sure what about it was considered Mexican - plain white bone dry chicken, lettuce tom and cheese. I nearly choked on the first bite. Added hot sauce for flavor, didn't help. 2 stars is for the outdoor seating , and thank god for it cause inside was a loud drunken mess.

Just a good old semi grungy place! I love going there with my best friend. We play games at the table that they provide in order a whole bunch of appetizers and just laugh and laugh and the service is great. It's just a cool little place. I always order their shrimp skewers.

I went there primarily because I wanted a place that allowed me to sit there with my dog. I guess that was nice because they let you sit outside with your pet. The food wasn't very good. The only thing I liked were the beans. They had a good flavor. The vegetarian wrap was mediocre at best. The fries had no salt and were not great, kind of heavy and dense and almost stale. When it was time for me to leave, I asked for a takeout box and one of them had a hair inside! Not hygienic. The service wasn't very pleasant either. The waitress was pouty and seemed to think she had an "air of mystery." She didn't even answer me when I asked a question. She's a tall, slender blonde lady. I guess her film/modelling career didn't take off so working there is her backup plan. I took half the wrap home because I don't like wasting food, but I think I will be throwing it away. Anyway, I don't think this is a place I would ever go back to. I guess they have a catchy name, very "Hollywood," with "Birds, " an homage to the Alfred Hitchcock classic, although technically it should be "The Birds," as in the movie namesake. Overall, it was Not very impressive for a restaurant, because when you dine out you expect something superb instead of something below mediocre.

I haven't been here in Years, but found myself nearby and was surprised I never reviewed this. I do remember I ordered chicken strips with honey mustard/bbq sauce, along with a baked potato and mac and cheese side. To be honest, this wasn't memorable but it was good and I still ate all of it. I would probably come by again and eat in person since I'm sure everything is better while on the premises. Some of their other options such as the smoky cajun grilled chicken sandwich sound really appealing. Located on a busy strip of Franklin, parking is metered in front or if you're in luck, the residential side streets, but make sure you read the signs.

Good food, terrible service. Today I ordered the usual, kids tender plate. Today was the first time I've ever been told it didn't even come with ONE side of sauce. (Seriously, who eats dry tenders and fries?) Anyway, I live down the street and walk here often and every time I ordered I've only been charged for the second sauce when ordering food. I ordered the food to go and, although I believe sauce should be included in the cost (because literally no one is going to order and eat a dry set of chicken and fries), I ordered anyway because I have sauce at home. Like would you order spaghetti and be expected to be charged extra for spaghetti sauce!? No! Restaurants like this are always looking to penny pinch from loyal customers and I typically don't support it -- and this place had already went up on prices. When being asked to sign the check, I wrote "haha" in the tip area. It's a joke to be expected to pay tip for takeout after trying to get me to pay extra for sauce. I left the restaurant to look around the shop next door while waiting on my order. When I returned, I was greeted with a nasty attitude by this woman (I wish I got her name), who accused me of being a bully to her employee for what I wrote. Perhaps, what I wrote was a little petty, but the service I got was horrible. She was telling me off and shaking like a nervous breakdown. I asked her why she was shaking because I was yelling at no one, I called no one out of their name, and all I did was laugh in the tip area. She said because she was pissed - I said I was pissed too because I was looking forward to enjoying my meal despite the service and it's now ruined, please process a refund I will not be eating here again. So she processed a refund and I won't be back. Idk maybe I was being profiled as "the scary black woman" because i wasn't a happy customer. I still don't get all the shaking and hyperventilating, but whatever. Even though the service is sub-par (even before today), I do recommend this place to a lot of my friends. My new neighbor and I were supposed to do lunch here next week and we will have to choose somewhere else. I frequent La Villita Cantina next door also. This is what service should look like -- the staff and manager here are both amazing. When there is a disconnect, customer service is handled in a much better manner. You don't start arguments with customers. Although it's a different cuisine, I would gladly change taste in my appetite for this type of environment. When I'm in the mood for chicken, Home Restaurant on Hillhurst is a beautiful upgrade instead of coming to Birds. Edit: I was curious about other reviews so I've been reading through them since this post. A lot of the bad reviews aren't about the food, but rude managers arguing with people. Dang, sucks to have that reputation with yet another review.

Was excited to try this place while visiting a friend. Very cute enclosed outdoor patio seating area which we were able to sit in with her dog, heaters at full blast so it was very comfortable. Started with a half tower of onion rings which come with 3 dipping sauces! We tried the zesty bbq which does have a little kick to it, the ranch which was classic of course, and artichoke garlic dip- my favorite, a rich aioli bursting with garlicky goodness. The chicken pot pie was absolutely delicious, flaky, soft crust with a saucy interior richly flavored with herbs. Cornbread was sweet, fresh and served with butter. The server was friendly and so helpful, and I ended up grabbing a generously filled glass of the house white (Grenache blanc), a dry white which went perfectly with the chicken. Crowd was very hip and young on a Saturday night, but it wasn't unpleasantly packed or anything. Great atmosphere, rich warm food. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the drink menu, which looked really fun and solid as well!

Awesome food. My personal favorite it the Chicken Pot Pie. Really tasty. Served with some amazingly tasty cornbread. Several celebrity sitings too. I just smile and let them eat. They gotta eat peacefully too.

I can honestly say that I gave this restaurant a good shot. My first time here was several weeks ago and they were busy. I was told to sit anywhere. Was not given a menu. Then the waiter wanted to know what I wanted. When I stated I don't have a menu, I got a very sarcastic response. So I left. Two weeks later I came in for brunch. I ordered the three eggs plate, with bacon and sidewinder fries and coffee. The bacon and sidewinder fries were on point. The eggs were supposed to be sunny side up, but it was on the verge of raw. The coffee tasted like it was made five days ago; Lukewarm and very bitter. I barely saw my waiter. I was in a hurry so I really didn't have time for them to remake it. I will not return.

Amazing, I did takeout on uber eats and got the rotisserie chicken/ mashed potatoes and veggies 10/10 - seasoned amazing and perfectly well done chicken. The white sauce is also amazing with the chicken great portion.

Man, such an odd experience lol. Giving the food 5/10 & giving hospital/cafeteria food. I will not be coming back & to top it off everyone was giving weird vibes and plain awkward.

Was exactly what we needed as we awaited a UCB show. Beer and cider was great. Vibe was hittin and service was fab. Just as I remembered from when I used to live in L.A.

I could've swore I left my review for this place. Stopped here after going to Griffith Park for an early afternoon brunch. The first thing I have to say is the service was outstanding! Everybody was extremely friendly, the wife had a pot pie that she thoroughly enjoyed. I had some type of rice crispy encrusted French toast. I have to tell you it was amazing. I wish this place wasn't so stinking far away from my home as I can't get the amazing taste out of my mind. If you are in the area, I highly recommend that you stop by. While it was a little early for me to have a drink, it appeared there bar had a full selection of anything you could've wanted. The ambience of the place is also quite unique. The only thing that is tough is the parking. But that can be expected in the LA area.

Found this place at the recommendation of the hotel. Good service, loud music, and bring called Bird - rotisserie chicken. May be it was a mistake to order the chicken pot pie. But if they had great chicken, the potnoie made from the chicken ought to be good... right? It was just OK. Lots of white meat, no bones like some reviewers complained about, but bland. A crisp, flaky, tasty crust makes up a lot, not not for the bland filling.

Came by on a Saturday night and was delighted that it had the perfect balance of business - most tables full, chill vibe, yet still free enough where we were able to grab a table (has both indoor bar/table and outdoor table with heat lamps). Happy hour menu possible but we missed it, shared the 6 foot beer batter onion rings with 1 other (perfect amount, fresh), also tried their rotisserie dark meat chicken with the Tennessee beans. Meat was incredibly tender, beans were decent but I did wish for something more munchie so I did sneak some curly fries from my +1. Clean bathrooms, servers were OK (not overly friendly, never got water refills, but were available when needed), would recommend if you're in the area (particularly if you're catching an improv show 2 doors down)

Got the smoky Cajun grilled chicken sandwich and it was delicious! The bread was soft and the chicken was marinated well. They also put a lot of lettuce in it, and I personally like the extra crunch and freshness. The sweet potato fries were also hot and crispy. 10/10 would recommend. So yummy!

Might be the worse food in la. The waitress was lovely though. Chicken sandwich was dry and the bread was hard. Chicken wings were dry and gross. Worse than fast food. If you've ever tried cafeteria food at LAUSD , that is what the food tastes like here.

Eh- the chicken is usually good but sometimes it's totally dried out. Ordered a baked potato as a side a few times and it was completely hard and uncooked every time. Today unfortunately was the last disappointment- ordered chips and guacamole, just a spoonful of guacamole that's- peppery? Someone over "seasoned" it so much that it isn't even edible.

Birds is a fun place to go... Recently I feel like they've really stepped up their game with the food. The food was always good but the chicken now is absolutely fantastic. Now, when I'm there I always order the whole chicken and split with my husband. There are always leftover to take home, we order a few extra dips as well. There are all sorts of different flavors which are really great. We pair it with the Caprese salad, which is very yummy. Mixing bites of the chicken and salad is my favorite. Tangy, salty, sweet. Because it has a bar that is pretty big in the restaurant I can get fairly loud. So if you're sensitive to noises you might want to eat outside.

We stopped here after a show at the Greek Theatre. The Greek's food is awful and we were so glad to see Birds was open on our way home. We used to go there when we lived closer to Birds. Our order was simple - chicken, Caesar salad, tortilla soup. All were great! The chicken was so moist and flavorful, the salad was super fresh and the soup was tasty. The service was exceptionally friendly and pretty fast. We were able to get a window table and people-watch; always interesting on Franklin Ave. Maybe we should come back here more often ...

Nothing beats this option. Hard to find parking, in case you're not around here, but absolutely worth it. This spot is awesome for exactly what you might need. (Dodgers) game was on so bet that was tight. Exactly as expected L_O

There is no way this place has honest anything higher than 2 stars. I want to like this place I swear I do. It's been nearby forever and I'm actually surprised it's lasted this long. I don't drink so maybe it's good for drinks I don't know. The food just is not good at all. Beans are Yuck. Chicken has no flavor at all. Pot Pie is flavorless, Cornbread dry and tasteless, and Mac n Cheese has no flavor. There is no way the food has always been this bad. I remember coming in early 2000's and don't remember the dissatisfaction I have now. You need new recipes and a new life.

I forgot how much I love this place. My home away from home in my 20's (we won't talk about my age now). I need to come here more often! The staff is so nice. The food is so good. Great ambiance. Love, love, love.

Birds is a standard diner. It's not great but it's not bad. I was craving a BLT with curly fries and Birds pulled through. The food is definitely geared for the diner/unhealthy crowds... excessive amounts of mayo, multiple layers of iceberg lettuce, and low quality fries. Again, I went in wanting this type of food since I've been training and wanted a major cheat. After wiping off most of the mayo and removing the unnecessary piles of iceberg lettuce, I enjoyed my meal. My wife had a side of mozzarella sticks, which she enjoyed but again... they were standard diner sticks aka frozen ones you could buy at the store. It's an a-okay place if you want this kind of food but I wouldn't go into it expecting anything above average.

Fried chicken burgers and heart Cuban sandwiches. Wash it down with some alcohol as you chat with friends and watch the Rams game. Street parking hard to find, try the side streets. Not metered, but read the signs. Plenty of indoor seating, limited outdoor seating.

Several of my friends like Birds so went there for lunch today. Since there were many things on the menu I like (I like chicken) was hard deciding what to have. Had a Cajun Chicken Sandwich with a brown rice side. The sandwich was very good and it was very nice being able to get brown rice as a side. Was given many napkins with my sandwich. Quickly found out why and was grateful for having so many napkins. The music was very loud. Will sit outside the next time I go to Birds. Other than the loud music, everything and everyone at Birds was very nice.

I am sooo happy I live down the street from this amazing place! Absolutely delectable and this is probably going to become my new hangout. So the building is sooo cute, right on a small corner on Franklin. Very easy to find! Both limited inside and outdoor seating, with all these cute red fairy lights strung about. So cozy and fun, I am in love with the vibes! Also open till 11 pm, which is nice because most restaurants in the area are closing at 9 because of all the strict regulations. Anyways Brad was my server and he was awesome! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. Their menu link doesn't work with droids (apple only) but its ok because Brad knew the drinks by heart and they have paper copies of the food menu! As you can tell by their name, they specialize in chicken (Brad recommended the rotisserie, which they have dark and white meat) and wow do they not disappoint! I ended up ordering the smoked chicken sandwich with curly fries (that brad also recommended) and i was so happy he did because it was AMAZING! The prices are great! Not too expensive and not too cheap and I am pretty sure they have happy hour! I came when it was later but when I come back (which I definitely will), I will update and confirm if happy hour or not But either way beers start at $6 so not soo bad! Happy hour isn't necessary for this yummy place. Also they take their hygienic practices very seriously, it was the little details I noticed that made me very happy that they were very clean! They even put a little trash can by door of bathroom so can open door with paper towel and throw away! Such a simple, obvious yet rarely used hygienic practice, that I think every restaurant should follow. And this is one of the very many little details I noticed about this restaurant that confirms its awesome! Alright my loves you all better check this place out at least one point in your life because they definitely have the best chicken and service in town!

Birds is a good place for bar food. Where I found they excelled was with the onion rings and the Cajun grilled shrimp basket. The onion rings were super crispy and came with 3 sauces. I think we got the ranch, chipotle mayo, and Thai plum sauce which were all good. It comes in a tower of onion rings so it is very fun to eat. The Cajun grilled shrimp was awesome; it's like barbecued shrimp with a delicious Cajun seasoning rubbed all over it. The rub makes a nice crust on the shrimp. These were surprisingly addicting. I wasn't a huge fan of their chicken strips which were just bland, dry chicken tenders. And I've had much better buffalo chicken Caesar salads; this one was watery and again the chicken was dry and the Caesar dressing wasn't very flavorful. Overall, I would love to go back for the onion rings and the shrimp and maybe try some of their other classic bar sides.

Came here for the Detroit lions game and I was SHOCKED by all of the Detroit transplants that were here! The staff was incredibly welcoming to all of us and we all can't wait to be back! Go lions!!!

I would say this place is okay. However, there must be something that I'm missing since this place is always crowded with people! It's located in a relatively quaint part of town and is a great option for food if you live closeby and you want to dine outdoors. I think I remember them saying they're known for their chicken sandwich? Not 100% sure but hearing that I wanted to get it. I was disappointed to see that the chicken itself wasn't the type of juicy chicken I would normally expect. It tasted like a more dry thin chicken patty. Considering there are so many great chicken sandwich shops out there now, I don't think I could ever come here again for this dish. But I'm open to trying more from here! The price is not bad and the location is prime.

To me, this is the ultimate cozy neighborhood bar/restaurant. Almost ALWAYS have their chicken potpie...friends even come from the Valley for it. Service is quick and friendly. Cocktails are well-made and more than ample.

Birds has a delicious chicken chili that comes with a fantastic cornbread and you can add a great Caesar salad for a little extra. Their tasty chicken pot pie can also be combined with the cornbread and Caesar salad. My two favorites on their menu!

Not a good place for vegetarians or drinkers. Otherwise, if you want to drink some beers, watch some sports, and eat some fried chicken, you'll probably love it! Not for me, but serves a purpose. Not a place to come for the food -- more of a drinking vibe. Good service

Cool bar going for Hitchcock theme. Interior is clean and has a nice vibe and seating arrangement. Fries were great as a snack. Unfortunately service was horrible enough to drop a star. Took ages to get the bill and then our cards back afterwards.

Being from the midwest I've had rotisserie chicken and cole slaw an incredible amount of times. I've never had it as good as I've had it here at Birds. Their chicken is the perfect combination of taste, juiciness, fat and meat, and their homemade slaw hits perfect notes all its own. I tried the Zesty BBQ dipping sauce and I struggled. The sauce was also exquisite but it was hard to decide whether or not to dip the chicken in the sauce or just eat it on its own. But I can't complain... that's a pretty good choice to have.

Excellent food and service. I had the cheeseburger with curly fries and it was awesome. The drinks were great as well. The Mai Tai was perfect. The ambience was good; they have plastic shields between booths that help with privacy and noise. They have outside seating as well. Good place to stop after a hike at Griffith Park or a visit to the Griffith Observatory. It's only minutes away.

Always welcoming. Food is always good. Love their chicken pot pie. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks.

We went to Birds such a long time ago & were underwhelmed by the food & service. Recently we revisited Birds & we're so impressed with the menu & service from the knowledgeable & friendly staff. The roasted chicken options & wonderful pot pie, chicken chili, wraps & sandwiches kept us coming back weekly for new meals. Weekend brunch is delectable. The attentive service from the team made returning a must.
