Great Thai restaurant spot in Encinitas. Luckily we booked ahead, as there is always a wait. Food and service was great and delicious. Cocktail menu was great. Fun atmosphere with our friends for the evening.

𝙿𝙰𝚁𝚃 𝚄𝙽𝙾 ꧁༺𝐼𝑁𝑇𝑅𝑂𝐷𝑈𝐶𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁༻꧂ This is an overdue ‘𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫’ to my all-time favorite restaurant. Just one small thing… It will be my first ever. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒆, 𝒍𝒆𝒕’𝒔 𝒈𝒐… Everything you’re about to read comes from my soul. None of this was requested of me. My words are authentic. Don’t believe me? Ask about me when you visit. (okay, maybe I’m not that important) 𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅… (‘𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑡𝑡𝑒𝑟’ 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟) 𝐴 𝑆𝑇𝑂𝑅𝑌… The story of 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐲𝐞 is one of 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑔𝑢𝑒. A story of ‘𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒’ 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ‘𝑏𝑢𝑟𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔’ 𝑝𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 for all things food… (𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬: 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘥 ‘𝓅𝓇𝑜𝓃’) A tale of 𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑣𝑒𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝒉𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑙𝑑… …and tasting 𝑒𝑥𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑐 𝑓𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑠. A story of 𝒉𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 confronted with seemingly 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑚𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑏𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑠. A story of 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔… A story of 𝑠𝑢𝑐𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑠… These were the thoughts that were running through my mind after an encounter I had with someone at the restaurant exactly one week ago. Although I've observed this person many times over the years, she always seemed like a private person, an enigma of sorts, and a mystery. So I rarely interacted with her… until now. This ‘𝑚𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑦’ person it turns out, is both the creator and the chef… and she built the whole place… from the ground up, 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚. These words are a result of the conversation that occurred that breezy night in Leucadia. Monday night always calls for either Thai or Indian takeout, and these two options go to battle in my head every time without fail. If I had ordered my usual 𝑃𝑎𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑟 𝑇𝑖𝑘𝑘𝑎 𝑀𝑎𝑠𝑎𝑙𝑎, the conversation would have never happened, and you wouldn’t be here with me… …and I’m glad you’re here. I was however, right on the fence. 𝑅𝐼𝐺𝐻𝑇 𝑂𝑁 𝑇𝐻𝐸 𝐹𝐸𝑁𝐶𝐸… So anyway, I left the restaurant that night divinely inspired to write and share. I’ve spent the last week photographing my favorite meals and drinks (these are real, not stock images—my photography skills are exceptional I know—𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵), taking fresh pictures of the crew (more on them later), and putting it all together in what I hoped wouldn’t push me past the 4𝙠 character limit (𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘦: 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘥, 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 9𝙠 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨). This has been creatively satisfying. 𝐷𝐴𝑌𝐷𝑅𝐸𝐴𝑀… Imaginary conversation with ‘𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘺’ chef/creator - 𝑪𝑯𝑬𝑭: “I like review, but too long, you’re weird.” 𝙈𝙀: “Oh thank you so much!, I’m glad you ‘ᒪOᐯE’ the review. No, I don’t want anything in return, well… maybe just a ‘ƒяєє’ Pad Thai and a Thai Tea with 𝑂𝑎𝑡 𝑀𝑖𝑙𝑘 please.” … ᖴOᖇ ᒪIᖴE. That was a joke. 𝑇𝐻𝐸 𝐹𝑂𝑂𝐷… The meals shown here are some of my favorites. If you're interested in one of the dishes pictured, you can point to it and ask your server for the name of the dish. I’ll run out of character spaces if I list them all here—I’m getting rather close (𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵, 𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘐’𝘮 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺). As a running joke, I’ll suggest everyone get the Pad Thai. Not the most special or unique of meals, but it is a classic for a darn good reason, and it is made exceptionally well here. Start there and branch off …𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨h… …𝘐’𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 (⦁_⦁) 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨… 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙖. The reason it's a running joke here is because it's the safest option for the uninitiated and less adventurous among us. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘪𝘵. I personally love it, however I usually order other dishes. The Pho… Oh my, the Pho! Probably the best authentic Pho you can get second to visiting Hanoi, Vietnam yourself. Oh my gosh was Birdseye an incredible Asian fusion experience!!! My family and I received the best service and were greeted right away. The food was some of the best Thai food I have ever had and the pineapple fried rice with duck was so flavorful. The noodles were great as well and would recommend to anyone to get them. I also really liked their cocktails and beer selection as they were diverse and offered a range of local breweries on tap. Overall great experience!!!

It is good to eat Thai food such as Tom Yam Kung and other Thai dishes and Vietnamese food such as PHO. Spicy 6 was very spicy.

Pretty dang good dinner! Everything tasted super fresh and delicious. The place was packed for Tuesday dinner—they do great business here! Though as a result, the dining room was very loud making conversation a bit tricky. Service was friendly, but not overly involved. Orders were taken and food delivered very promptly. My green curry was super fresh and tasty and, while not a huge portion, was quite filling. No matter that they gave me chicken instead of the beef I had actually ordered, it was still super yummy. Super great menu for people like me with gluten allergies! I’d say around 70% of the menu was gluten-conscious. They worked well with my peanut allergy too. Much of the menu could be made vegetarian as well!

This was a really good place to eat. We came here on a nice sunny day and sat out on the patio so we could enjoy the fresh air. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We received our food very quick and the it was really good. They have a big seating area inside with a separate bar area and the atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Super happy we stopped here so we can have yet another place to get one our favorite meals.

Google
Best Thai food in north county but had a disappointing takeout experience with them recently that will cause me to search elsewhere for Thai takeout. I arrived early. They told me the food would be ready based on the time on my receipt. Fair enough. The receipt time came. Twenty minutes passed. I set for a while with the other unfortunate takeout victims at the bar waiting for an update. No effort was made by the staff to find out an ETA (or provide a basic level of customer service) to any of us until I finally asked a member of the wait staff for an update at which point the food came out promptly. My impression is that since the dining room doubled in size they are understaffed and the kitchen can’t keep up with the combined demand of on-premise and off-premise orders. Now, they could tweak their “estimated ready time” in Toast but that would, of course, result in less order volume—and after tonight, I think I can confidently say that that’s more important to them than customer satisfaction. I hope the management sees this and makes some change.

Google
New obsession! These spring rolls were the best I ever had, might be the amazing sauces that bout it over the top. I enjoyed all the dishes I tried (pad Thai, Tom kha and mango sticky rice). I would highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Great ambiance, good service, decent food. We got the calamari to start, which was a touch tough. I don't think we'd order it again. Chicken pad thai was fine, just a bit sweet. I do like that they have four different fixin's to add if you so desire: crushed peanuts, chili flakes, chili oil, and sambal oelek. The panang curry was also sweet, but that was fine with us. My husband was less of a fan than I was, but I'm easy to please when it comes to curry. Overall fine for nearby Thai, but not a go-to for us.

Yelp
Decided to drop by on the way down from a doctor's appointment in Carlsbad. It's along the coast in a nice downtown Main Street of Encinitas so no real parking but I was able to find street parking right in front. Service was really nice here but the food was underwhelming and lacked a lot of flavor. Majority of it did and I only tried 2 items and both lacked flavor. My son had pho and kept having to add condiments. We ordered the house special noodles which is khao piak. Very bland I had to ask for fish sauce. I did like the texture of the noodles. The glass noodles salad was bland and sour. It also tasted like it could've been more softer in some hot water since it was still a bit hard. My son's pho was bland. I didn't try the chicken drunken noodles I ordered for my nephew. My mom had the khao poon nam pla which is weird its called that since it consisted of shrimp. I saw a lot of Lao dishes on the menu but tasting the basics of the Lao food was not cutting it for me. Veryyy pricey for food that needs work. Maybe tailored to the taste buds of that area for their guests/tourists in that area. Nice views and breeze going through since it was like an open garage.

Yelp
Whenever acquaintances visit our town for the first time, I always recommend Birds Eye as a quintessential dining experience. The culinary offerings boast exceptional flavors that tantalize the palate with every bite, making it a beloved choice among locals and a top recommendation, particularly on inclement days. In response to its popularity, they have recently expanded its indoor seating, facilitating a more seamless dining experience. Conveniently located just off the 101, patrons can explore nearby establishments for drinks while awaiting their table or takeout order. Despite the bustling atmosphere and potential challenges, Birds Eye consistently delivers impeccable customer service, ensuring every guest feels valued and attended to, regardless of the demands of the day.

Yelp
I have to update my review of Birdseye kitchen. Authentic Thai cuisine and a wide array of choices on the menu. Imperial rolls are a must, Tom yum soup delicious, noodle and rice dish choices are plentiful. The pad see ewe wide noodles, pineapple rice, drunken noodles and glass noodle dishes are great as well. Green curry and massaman curries are delicious as well. Authentic flavors in a great ambiance restaurant.

Yelp
Decided to give this place another try after many many many years. My first visit was lackluster and unmemorable. Came back last week and was reminded why I wasn't a more frequent visitor. Despite the Panang Curry with duck (why they're even getting a 4 star) being surprisingly good as I knew it was gonna be a safe bet, charging an atrocious $36 for it is just wrong. I've never felt so robbed eating Thai food in my life. Base price of curry was $18 (high but reasonable), wild salmon or duck add on was an additional $18 (this better have been organic free range well picked duck) The menu is quite confusing ranging from Vietnamese, to Lao, to Thai cuisine, with a little bit of Chinese in there (chow fun). It's basically overpriced "elevated" Asian food. I say elevated based on the premium on my duck price. I don't know if I'd ever come back a third time. It's an OK establishment but I just know what authentic Thai/lao/viet food should taste like AND cost and neither hits the spot for me.

Yelp
Noodle soup on a rainy & cool day sounds perfect to me! This nice establishment is right off the 101 coast highway in quaint Leucadia. I had never been here before so it was a nice change of pace. The servers were all nice. On our visit we had interaction with three individuals and all were very polite. I got a house noodle soup. I just loved the description on the Menu...Bone broth, chicken, gluten free noodles (that are hand cut), Bok Choy and available vegan as well if you prefer that. Mine was topped with bean sprouts. I like that the noodles were pretty much bite sized so I didn't have to fight the noodles with every bite. The spice dishes/topping options were on the table already. Only qualms here is if you are claustrophobic and don't like being involved in conversations next to you or them involved in yours you won't really have a choice but feel uncomfortable. Since you'll be automatically sat, at a small two seater table for party of two, right next to an already occupied table. I don't really need to know what strangers are baking and that they are stating their sourdough shenanigans and who's still in Rehab...& because of proximity...I didn't linger with my meal and enjoy my soup there. I decided to take it home after eating only some of it. It tasted good. Though my husband did finish his fried rice dish. I did try it and it was pretty tasty too. Practically a communal seating arrangement. So if you're okay with that then don't regard my one star removal. The tables and seating could have been a tad bit cleaner. I had to wipe food off from the bench seat prior to sitting down and the tables and benches next to us were left like that too. They sat people next to us without surveying that it needed a better wipe down. I'm an ambivert so those who know me best know I'm a social individual that needs downtime after my extroverted self is exhausted. I couldn't wait to get out for some fresh air. Maybe if I came with a group of friends here I'd feel better about being the loud and annoying ones there. The food tasted great and there was lots of takeout being had and perhaps being delivered to customers. Maybe on a sunnier day, I'd like to sit on the outside patio, we'll have another visit in the future. *They didn't have chopsticks or Asian soup spoons for our dishes. Although, we didn't ask if they were available for a more authentic experience. I'd use it. Hubby didn't mind not having to ask for a fork. ;-)

Yelp
I love meeting my son here for lunch. The menu is huge and on Friday our waiter is always Jake. So friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The food is yummy, and he asks how spicy we like it.

Yelp
The Baum Mi was excellent .. I had the beef they use praegers brand bread and it's delicious

Yelp
I echo the gentleman below where there is an importance in kind customer service. Although Birdseye's food tastes good and truly is yummy, we've never been warmly welcomed in the years they have been there. Rude and rushed I would say are the best ways to describe the atmosphere. We've been loyal supporters of the restaurant since they opened and have ate here more than a dozen times. I would also add that with the huge rise in restaurant prices everywhere, we might be making our own Thai at home. So, two stars for "could've been better" and will for sure come back and revise my review if we have a great experience next time.

Emily T.

Yelp
I tried Birdseye a few years ago. The takeout process was arduously slow (ordered at 5 p.m...received food at 8:30 p.m....), but I remember liking the food, so I decided to give them another shot while visiting in town. This time, I went for dine-in service. The spot was cute and cozy tucked along the 101. I really liked the food - most of our table got a Yellow Curry variation and we split Summer Rolls and Garlic Green beans. The garlic green beans were insanely good - and insanely underrated. BUT, service was extremely slow - even for a busy Friday night. The other thing that threw me off? The prices. As high as things were priced, I thought portions would be larger. I don't know if I'll be going back again.

Sam M.

Yelp
Loved what I ordered here! One dish in particular, "cabbage fysh wraps", reminded me of this dish I would get at my favorite Laotian restaurant in DC. The wraps have the vegan fish (or tofu) with fresh dill, lemongrass, garlic, rice noodles, and green beans. They come with this INCREDIBLE Laotian pineapple sauce. I wish I could eat this as a main entree ! Ambiance was really nice. The restaurant is super busy and full of happy customers. Service was great too.

Julie H.

Yelp
So Delicious! The place is a super vibey. Great friendly staff. And the best part is that it's all organic!

Tila B.

Yelp
Great food! Service was excellent! Great location and nice ambiance! Can't wait to go back!

Samm N.

Yelp
Wow! At one point I had to have this weekly. It was a beautiful addiction between me and their pad see ew noodles with their house made chili oil. Sometimes when I do take out, the portions sizes vary, which I'm not I love with. I usually order extra noodles (yes it costs more but I'm a hungry gal!) and a couple times the portion seemed to be a regular size. This is my only concern. However, Apple is great. She is very nice and the others also provide good service. I like to call my order in priority as they do get busy, as they are VERY good. The establishment is large and has a ton of seating. It's always very clean, open aired, and inviting. Definitely make a stop here:)

Tammie W.

Yelp
Birdseye is a restaurant I miss having so close to home. I used to live nearby and ate this at least a couple times a month, but now have it only once in a while since moving further south. They've expanded and their new digs are beautifully decorated, plants galore, and very inviting. The food is the same, which is spectacular. We started with the fried imperial rolls, which are my favorite. There's something about taking a piping hot fried egg roll stuffed with vegetables and pork, wrapping it in cold lettuce with fresh mint, then dipping it in a tangy fish sauce. My hubby ordered the pad Thai with chicken which was very flavorful. I ordered the grilled beef plate which had shallots, cilantro, mint, grilled charred beef and this bright vinegar sauce which was delicious. It was my husband's favorite bite of the night and something we'll definitely order the next time we're up in North County.

Rob M.

Yelp
Not the best pictures because it's dark, but this was honestly one of the best meals I've ever had. This was so freaking good. They don't have as many vegan options as they used to when it comes to the curry but their red squash curry is honestly amazing, and the soup is incredible! Wish I could eat this everyday.

Smitha A.

Yelp
I loved everything about this place. The service. The food. The fact that so much is gluten free. We started with shrimp salad rolls. Combined with the SambAl and the chili oil it was perfection and took the edge off my hunger. The drunken noodles were a spicy level 7 with a ton of fresh veggies. All delicious. The soup was the best. Hand cut thick rice noodles. A clean fresh broth. Hand pulled chicken. I added more sambal and more chili oil and it was perfect. The mango and sticky rice was sweet and fresh and completed a delicious meal. And the service was fantastic. We will be back!

Lotta S.

Yelp
Birdseye has changed. And not for the better. Portions are smaller, servers are fewer and food takes too long to receive. We brought our friends out for a treat and $140 later we left hungry to go someplace else. Our server was absolute awesome and super darling. She apologized profusely for "misunderstandings", kitchen running out of ingredients, bar running out of beer, kitchen being swamp with orders...The restaurant has a casual vibe and atmosphere is upbeat.

Jonny U.

Yelp
What's not too like here. Something other than the gastropubs and Italian restaurants. I had the panang curry with chicken and the charred pineapple old fashioned and wouldn't have chosen anything different. Super flavorful and beautifully presented. March that with a friendly atmosphere and a nearly full house and it was a Saturday night win. Sat at the bar with no wait and the food came quickly. Will 100% be back.

Juanita H.

Yelp
I don't know what happened this time! The Pad Thai was so oily! The take out container and paper bag were soaked in the oil/grease when I made my 5 minute drive home.

Caitlin D.

Yelp
This is a Thai/Lao/Vietnamese Fusion restaurant. When I looked at the photos, I thought this was a small restaurant. Walking in, I was shocked. The space was massive. With so many choices of indoor and outdoor seating. The interior design was beautiful and on the left side of the restaurant where the bar was, there were sky lights. It brought lovely natural light in. I came here for "lunch," with my brother. It was actually my first meal of the day. My eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. I ordered a Thai iced coffee, phad Thai with grass fed beef, and ban(h) xeo. My brother ordered salt and pepper calamari, fried chicken wings, basil fried rice, and Birdseye chai with oat milk. The service was quick and friendly. The guy came up a few times asking if everything was ok and tasty. It was! I had an enjoyable first time at this place. They had so many vegan options and gluten free choices as well. Next time, I'd take my mom or my friends here. The iced Thai coffee was delicious with an creamy, strong coffee, & earthy taste to it. 10/10. The Phad Thai with grass fed beef was such a massive plate. This could be shared between 6-8 people easily. Sadly, my brother isn't a fan of pad Thai like I am so it was left to me to eat this. (We packed it home). But I ate some and the beef was so tender and flavorful. They gave so many pieces of beef, I was shocked. The phad Thai itself had a different flavor than I've had before. It was smoky, sweet, etc. It reminded me of pad see ewe a bit. I've never had phad Thai that wasn't orange colored - but it makes sense as to why this was more brown. Because that's the color of tamarind! Anyways this was pretty tasty, I packed it up so I could eat it for dinner. 9.8/10. The ban xeo wasn't crispy or thin. I'm sure it didn't sizzle in the pan. (Hence the name banh xeo: sizzling pancake). It was thick and a bit gummy. It was small, but I'm sure you could share it between two people. Inside there was beansprouts, scallions, pork, and wild thick shrimp. You wrap it with lettuce and herbs. To dip they had fish sauce but the fish sauce had more of an acidic taste-- maybe a little heavy on the vinegar or lemon. All about preference, but I like it with a little bit of sugar. Overall this ban xeo was a solid 7.5/10! The calamari was thick and crispy. It came with a sweet and sour sauce. But I think it was perfect just with the squeeze of lemon. The fried chicken wings were really tasty. I've never seen this kind of chicken wings before, but it was crispy in a way where it was light and not heavy on your tummy. It was caramelized garlic fish sauce...a light flavor, not too overpowering. 10/10! If I was ever in the area again I'd come here for lunch..and especially dinner. This would be an amazing place to go with a large group! They had so many delicious sounding dishes and drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
All I have to say is I wanted the usual loving thai food experience, in which I have had when eating at plenty of traditional thai food restaurants. This service, I regret to say was beyond unbelievable. I myself am white and mixed with Native American and Hispanic. My finance is full Hispanic and in color terms is "fully darker brown". Although he is a business insurance consultant for a multi million dollar company.. not to mention my finance was out of the field and was in casual "dirty" work clothes. We were served the ONLY plastic cups in the entire restaurant. We were also served our food on plastic plates when the other customers were served on glass/ ceramic plates. I feel this particular restaurant could use a touch of diversity and a bit more understanding to the fact that other races beyond "white" do exist and deserve the same treatment as their "typical" guests. Not to mention their food is wayy over priced and not even Thai food. They are really just serving "Exotic" Chinese /Thai/Vietnamese/and Indian food to a primarily Caucasian customer base. Unfortunately it is very obvious in their selection in which they would prefer their clientele to be. Due to my experience at this restaurant I am very unsatisfied with their lack of professionalism and openness to diversity.I feel this will draw many well paying customers away in present and future. I really hope this restaurant will consider broadening their "clientele" moving forward. This will avoid people feeling this way as myself and my finance felt, regardless their of economical status based on looks. They can obviously afford to eat there if they're choosing to eat there. Just because someone doesn't meet your looks standards wise doesn't mean they can't realistically eat at your restaurant. You guys should really not judge a book by its cover, One day it might comeback and you're the book everyone's judging...As a wise man once said "what goes around comes around".

Robin D.

Yelp
Everything was good: spring rolls appetizer, Tom Kha soup, Phad See Ewe, Panang Curry with Salmon, Wok Noodles with Salmon, and the Stone Delicious! Lots of leftovers for scooby snacks! Other good stuff: our server that managed the dining room with grace and ease, the ambiance, and extensive menu.

Kay A.

Yelp
Such a gem! Almost everything was, or could be made gluten free. Great vegetarian and vegan options. Overall felt very easily suited to individual needs and preferences with choices presented upon ordering of meat, tofu, or vegetables in most dishes. Every dish had beautiful depth of flavor, with high quality ingredients, and satisfying portion sizes. The hand-cut gluten free noodles were a unique highlight. You can tell how much care and love goes into the food, like a soul-healing home cooked meal with a restaurant experience. Even the tea mugs were pretty! a small detail adding to the homey-ness. Every table seems to have great ambiance, we loved the outdoor seating. On a weekday afternoon it was very peaceful, apart from the coaster passing close by every few minutes haha. Every waiter was so friendly and just wonderful!

Robert M.

Yelp
Lunch time for sidewalk dining. The menu was Asian fusion, Thai, and Vietnamese and it was our first visit. Order the Phad Thai Organic Chicken and Garlic Rice Chicken. Both dishes were good, flavorful and filling, Service was efficient and friendly. It was nice way to spend the afternoon on Coast Hwy.

Rose A.

Yelp
Pro tips: 1) avoid crowds and frustration by dining on a lazy Sunday afternoon or during the week for lunch ... not Friday night when everyone thinks it's a good idea to get away from Italian or Mexican. 2) parking lot/entrance in back to avoid further frustration Food is fresh and never disappoints! Great quality ingredients and tasty flavors. I've never had a dish I didn't like. Glad they took the space next door to add a full bar.

Kaitlyn J.

Yelp
still love it here, best food, best service I am crossing my fingers they keep the fried egg salad on the menu! We got it as an appetizer along with the fried chicken (absolutely unreal if you eat it in house) and the imperial rolls (also delicious and we order it Every Time). but personally, if I didn't have to share w/ my table, I could have easily crushed that fried egg salad all. by. myself :)))) the chicken pad see ewe is a universal fave and is so good that I struggle to order it anywhere else. also love the house noodle soup, very delicious and comforting. definitely tastes homemade from start to finish!

Amy H.

Yelp
Food 5 stars Service 5 stars I have loved everything I have ever ordered here. The food is clean, organic, delicious and staff is so kind and welcoming. I love their curries, Tom kha, pad Thai, and even tried their Gai lan with pork belly, all so bomb!!!

Christina H.

Yelp
I think the food has gone downhill a little since they extended their restaurant. I will still come for the pad thai, its my go to. Their pho is another amazing dish. Service is always great and setup is cute. Staple for encinitas.

Timothy B.

Yelp
Was feeling some Thai food, but I wanted to venture out of the usual Pad Thai or Pad see ew. I ordered the Lao Sukiyaki soup, Kua Mii, and the the fried sesame shrimp. Unfortunately wasn't too thrilled with the food, but that's the risk you take when trying something you've never ordered. The soup and Kua Mii were flat and seemed like they were missing something. The sesame shrimp didn't even taste like sesame and the plum sauce tasted more like honey than anything else. It was still tasty bite though. I did get a chance to taste of my buddies pork belly and that was awesome. Saw some cool and clever drinks on the menu as well that everyone at the table seemed to enjoy. A cool place nevertheless and glad I had the opportunity to try out something new regardless of the outcome.

Jon S.

Yelp
Ate here last week-- in addition to the extremely long wait to be served, the food was mediocre and the service extremely lacking. To make matters worse, upon checking my bank account the next day, I saw that the restaurant or server had actually changed the amount of the tip that I left on the bill to nearly double the amount, which is absolutely ridiculous and dishonest. I will never return here and would leave zero stars if that were an option.

Eric S.

Yelp
Went here with the family for dinner on a busy night. We called ahead as we had a table of 6. Waitress was super nice. Fresh spring rolls were excellent. Their pineapple friend rice with tofu had more of a coconut milk base which was a different take than the standard friend rice I've had else where was super good. Beer and drink options were good. Most of the tables were inside with big windows/doors open to the outside with a smaller area of a few outdoor tables as well. The rest of the crew enjoyed their food. Our only gripe was the food and drinks were slow to arrive and they also forgot one of our orders (maybe got it mixed up with another order?), but they did the right thing and comped it for us since it didn't come out until everyone else had nearly finished. All in all I'd go again.

Yelp
The drunken noodles and pad Thai here are so good! Cute spot right on the coast, great menu and service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We loved Birdseye Kitchen. The place takes no reservations but we got seates in under ten minutes on a Saturday night. The menu offera a lot of variations, so it was hard to figure out what to order. We ordered the Phad Thai and it was amazing. Sorry no pics of it. The salad was delicious as were the rolls. The beef dish, Namtok, was very flavorful but I wish I got a side of rice with it. The restaurant is nicely spaced out. We had some loud laughing people at a table nearby. No problem. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. It took a while to get water refills, but otherwise he was excellent. Update: We went again and again the food was tasty but the service was super slow. We ordered mango and rice, and it never came. Another waitress had to let us pay. Our waitress was too busy. So I asked for them to take it off our bill and they did. We paid. Left. Sticky rice and mango regret :(

Yelp
Birdseye is also a go to, the also expanded to the place next door so It gives more seating options. We usually walk with the pup on the weekend and are able to sit outside. We love their satay and pad Thai!

Yelp
Pad Thai is what I come here for. The noodles are the right chewiness and the sauce is rich. Good flavor but I wasn't a fan of the texture: green papaya salad (too squeaky/chewy) and tofu three flavor (too wet and soft). Pangang curry salmon with brown rice was delicious, but not at all spicy even though we ordered a 7. Chicken satay was good but not remarkable. Tom "Cah"llins drink was delicious! I like how bustling this place is, but with the wall open to the street, the noise level isn't bad. You can still have a conversation. Dog friendly patio is a plus. I do wish they showed you the full bill and not just the total on a machine. I always check the make sure I'm paying the right bill, but they made that difficult. They also make tipping anything less than 20% difficult, which is not cool. Service here is busy but friendly. I like that they leave a carafe of water on the table so you don't have to flag people down.

Yelp
I'm unsure if we came at the wrong time but it was a horrible experience. We dined there on a Friday around 2pm. The only dish that was decent was the beef salad. The flavor was good except they used shredded cabbage instead of other greens. The chicken wings were burnt as if it was refried over and over in old burnt oil. The pad Thai was too sweet. The rice that came with the garlic green beans had an old smell and it was very yellow and dry as if it sat in the rice cooker for a week. (The garlic green beans were good) what as appalling was the owner was extremely rude when we notified her and asked if we could get new rice. She rudely said "that's just how the rice is and walked away." We then asked the waiter since he was more understanding and accommodating if we could order sticky rice instead. The sticky rice wasn't fresh but it was edible. The owner brought out the sticky rice and literally threw it on the table as if she was displeased. It was extremely awkward and uncomfortable. We tried to finish what we could and left most items back, paid and left. I know operating a restaurant is tough and I wish the owners luck with their business and try to improve their services and food quality.

Yelp
I have to say I was really disappointed with the experience. We placed a big order to go and on top of taking almost 2 hours from The time we placed the order until We picked it up they left out 2 items that were on our order. We ordered multiple different items, Pad Thai, Pad see ewe, yellow curry, bun bowl, veggie Pho, summer rolls, papaya salad and imperial rolls. No one was impressed with their food. Maybe one of the worst Thai/Vietnamese food I've had in awhile. Not only did it not taste good it was overpriced. I'm giving it 2 stars bc the papaya salad was edible. Not sure if it was an off night for the them but I don't plan on going back.

Yelp
The restaurant has great ambience. Open outdoor indoor feel. Food was delicious. Service was good. Will definitely go back. Yellow curry and glass noodles yummers

Yelp
Was a little hesitant to come here based on the mixed reviews, but so glad we did! Everything we ordered was truly delicious - the papaya salad, drunken noodles, fried rice with pork belly, and mango sticky rice. The waiters were also kind enough to move us from the outside-facing seats to a table farther inside the restaurant since it was getting cold. Also loved the aesthetic and overall vibe of the restaurant. This was our favorite meal on our babymoon!

Yelp
Came at the odd restaurant hour of 3 pm, there were a few other tables of customers. Ordered the pad see ewe with shrimp, miss spiciness. Flavor was a little spicier than I expected, portion was on the smaller side for the price. If there was either a little more food, or a touch cheaper for the size portion, I would 5-star this review. I've been spoiled by good Thai food, for a slightly lower price point. Service was good, the server was friendly and attentive. I probably wouldn't come back to eat by myself, but I would not refuse if a friend or client wanted to come here.

Yelp
We had a yummy meal and while it took a little while for our drinks to come out the food was delicious! It's very casual and a bit loud but we'll be back!

Yelp
Delicious and allergen aware! We went twice in one week because it was so good. The prices are excellent for the quality of the ingredients.

Yelp
Excellent food, atmosphere, and service. Prices are moderate. Had two dishes and they were delicious. Highly recommend.

Yelp
From a Laotian person, food is as authentic as it can get. But I know everyone's taste buds needs to be catered to. So I know some menu items needed to be altered. Other than that I would return and try other items on the menu. The cocktail was great. Love the decor of the restaurant.

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was super busy and super loud. We got the drunken noodles and the noodle curry and the portions were small. I asked for no spicy on my plate and it came out spicy. My husband asked for spicy and his was not so I think they got the plates mixed up. We switched plates haha. The plate presentation was not pretty. The plates were super dirty and greasy especially on the bottom part. Prob won't be coming back.

Yelp
This place is OK but not what I was expecting base on other reviews. The drunken noodles was good but the chicken was so hard and over cooked. This place also doesn't take reservations which means you have to wait a long time to be seated since is not a big restaurant.

Yelp
I enjoyed everything I ordered. Their sweet sauce that comes with their appetizers was soooooo goooood! I ordered the calamari and the egg rolls. Also ordered the pad sew ew and chicken pho. The broth was so good. I also ordered the Thai tea. They generously offer oat milk as a substitute. My husband is plant based and ordered the vegetable curry and loved it. He said it had a lot of flavor and had a subtle kick but wasn't too too spicy. The space was nice and open. Lots of lovely life plants as Decor. Parking is limited right outside on the main road but there's parking across the street in the dirt area. We cleaned up all our plates and left with nothing to take home for left overs. Server/waiter was super nice and attentive.

Yelp
My wife and I have an 18 month old so eating out or even ordering take out is a treat for us. The accuracy of the order and the poor attempt to reciprocate our failed order will prevent us from taking our business here again. The Order- we ordered what we thought was simple; the summer rolls (veggie/tofu) as my wife is allergic to shellfish, curry noodle bowl (6 spice level) with no onions, and the yellow curry (5 spice level) added chicken. Three items folks, yes, THREE ITEMS!! Wait for it.... What do you think we received? We Received- we got one veggie summer roll and one shrimp! Haha That won't work with my wife's allergies. The noodle bowl was a zero (0) spice (see pic) BORING for someone that loves a little kick and had onions (also in pic). The Yellow curry came with an eight (8) spice and my wife couldn't eat more than three bites. So my wife went to bed hungry. What a treat for a hard working, amazing mother and wife!! Hang in there as I'm saving the best for last...... I called the restaurant and spoke to a manager (use that term loosely) named Dia or Dina and I didn't even get to explain my issue before I was rudely spoken over, asked three questions at once that were the same question but asked in a different way, and continued to tell me that my wait time of an hour and 15 minutes was normal. The wait time, as you can see above, is not even a concern of mine. I understand busy, I even understand mistakes, but I don't understand how managers can talk more than they listen when trying to resolve a problem? Dia/Dina went on to justify the spice mixup with a future solution that they will no longer be offering spice levels and the customer will add their own spice. Awesome story, Dia/Dina, but how does that resolve or help my issue from the past???? She then was asking me for pictures and proof of my statement. I simply said that I'm not interested in speaking with her anymore and working rather tell my story online in the hopes I can help others, or at least provide a giggle or two. I will conclude with the fact that while I waited, I had a beer at the bar (yes I gave them more money) and the bartender was extremely friendly, patient, and apologetic for the wait time. I didn't catch his name but he was great.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food, service, and atmosphere. The flavours in all of the dishes were superb. Everything came out hot and freshly cooked. It was exactly what we were looking for and the prices were very reasonable. Portions are larger so consider sharing a couple entrees and a side dish! We will be back again!
