Amar Cafe is really a hidden gem in Chelsea. Small place, cozy, and very calm. It’s in a beautiful quiet square (Chelsea Common) which makes it perfect to sit and chill. I tried their flat white and it was perfect — smooth and balanced. Also the filter coffee was amazing, very fresh and full of flavour. You can feel they really care about coffee. If you are near Cale Street, you should try it.

Sunny Sunday morning vibes 😎 nothing better than a slow walk and a mission: to finally try what everyone keeps calling the best croissant in London. I wanted to see if the hype was real. I went classic and ordered a plain croissant and a pain aux amandes. Then I spotted a half jambon-beurre sitting in the vitrine basically calling my name… so yeah, that joined the party too. Let me start with the croissant: incredible. Flaky in all the right ways, buttery without being greasy, and the inside had that perfect airy honeycomb structure. Honestly, it could stand proudly next to some of the top bakeries in Paris. It was that good. The pain aux amandes was fine, but it didn’t have that deep almond flavor or texture I usually look for. And the jambon-beurre was solid, though I personally would’ve gone with a salted butter to make the whole thing pop. Tip💡: Grab your croissant to go, then walk across the street to Amar Café for a coffee and enjoy everything in the little square outside. It completes the whole experience 👌🏼

Birley has been our go-to local bakery for years, but while we usually go for the pain aux raisins or the ham & cheese croissant (both absolutely delicious) this time round we tried the pain suisse and WOW. We were blown away. Perfectly crunchy, soft and gooey in the middle, its perfection. Bravo!

The Almond pain au chocolat was so good, I ordered another two the next day. Honestly, the best one I've ever had. Slight crunch on the outside, filled with the right amount of almonds and chocolate. I could be wrong, but I think its also dipped in rum syrup? It gives it a slightly sticky coating which adds to the experience. The pastry was buttery and flakey, how it should be. The brownie was good too, but the Pain Au Chocolat blew me away. Next time I will try some other pastries and add to this review.

Almond pain au chocolat was delicious. Perfectly balanced and not too sweet. Good crunch. The staff could be more polite and welcoming but it was lunchtime rush so maybe it was because of that.

I was very impressed with Birely Bakery it was like being transported to Paris or boulangerie in France, the interior replicates perfectly a French bakery shop. They had a range of patisseries I chose a croissant and an orange and cinnamon madeleine and the croissant was very good. Usually croissants in bakeries are quite dry and lack that butter flavour, but Birley nails the French croissant. You can tell by the butter! The madeleine was very good as well.

Birley Bakery in Chelsea is a cozy, authentic French bakery-café that feels like a little slice of Paris in London. Tucked on Cale Street near King’s Road, it offers a welcoming atmosphere with beautifully displayed pastries you rarely find elsewhere in the city — from delicate tartes Tropéziennes to inventive puff-pastry creations. Despite the Saturday morning rush, the staff were cheerful, patient, and genuinely kind as I took my time deciding what to order. A true gem for anyone seeking exceptional French baking and warm service in one of London’s poshest neighborhoods.

This bakery has a good shop front and is inviting. I entered their chocolate and ice cream store by mistake which is right next door. Good looking pastries, baked goods and savoury items treat your eyes along with the friendly service. Seating spaces are limited so you will be lucky to find a spot when you visit. After a bit of deliberation, I got the almond croissant and cinnamon brioche bun with a coffee. The brioche bun was a bit dry and lacked the cinnamon flavour as much as I would have liked. The almond croissant was flattened and almost felt like a pancake and even with it's generous amount of toasted almonds flakes and powder sugar on top, it didn't quite hit the spot with it's overly sweet filling. The coffee could have been stronger and failed to balance the sweetness of the croissant and bun. The pastries and cakes looked creative in construction but the price you pay for the small portions didn't justify me getting one this time around. Either I picked the wrong items or they need to do better with their goods...
