When I say I've been excited to try this place for over a year, I'm not kidding. For whatever reason, I couldn't get it together. But in the December of firsts in 2021, I FINALLY checked this one off of my bookmark list.
I walked in at about 1:00 on a Saturday and this place was POPPIN. Every table full and a steady line of to go orders. It's not big, so I would suggest calling ahead if you are not dining in. They also only had one waitress who was doing dine in and to go, so be ready to wait a bit. That being said, when I placed my order, she said 20 minutes and it was not a minute more. As I scrolled through my Instagram waiting for my quesobirria sampler and more, the anticipation grew with every smell and every plate that walked out of the kitchen. By the time I got home, through the Christmas traffic, I was ready to rip the bag open. I was NOT disappointed. The lengua taco was one of the best, if not the best, I've ever had. The perfect texture and flavor, I was left wishing I ordered more. The side of rice and beans I ordered were traditional, but also pretty tasty. Without any further adieu, the quesobirria was epic. The shells were crispy, cheesy, beefy - simple but so rich and exactly what a guilty pleasure should taste like, sans any guilt. Then, you dip it in the beautiful birria broth and it's heaven. I didn't want to stop eating it but I did, to save one for the morning. I'm not embarrassed to say, I was so excited to have one left, I ate it cold dipped in the hot broth and it was so incredibly satisfying.
I can't wait to go back.
