15 Places to Cure a Hangover in Las Vegas

"Nothing comforts a hangover quite like a hot bowl of menudo. This casual off-Strip Mxican restaurant serves rich and fragrant menudo blanco that comes with onions, mint, lime, and fresh tortillas. Bonus: chips and bean dip are brought to your table as your soup is being made." - Janna Karel

"I tried this sister restaurant to Birria El Compa specializing in birria (beef and goat), cueritos, lengua de puerco, and carnitas—each served with free chips, salsa, frijoles, and a small bowl of onions, cilantro, and limes—and found a daytime-focused operation with a menu of hearty Mexican classics." - Eater Staff

I’ve been a loyal customer of Birria El Compa for years. I’ve always loved their tacos and flavors, and that’s why I continued supporting them even through their different location changes. Their third spot is the one I visit from time to time now. Unfortunately, I’ve had several disappointing experiences recently. On multiple visits during their Tuesday promotion, the discount was never applied. A couple of months ago, I asked about it, and the lady who takes the orders and handles the payments told me, “I’ve always given it to you,” which wasn’t true — I checked my receipts, and the discount was never there. I decided to let that go, but on my most recent visit, the same lady — the one who takes your order and charges you — treated us very poorly, with an attitude that really ruined the experience. Food is important, but customer service matters just as much, and this time it was definitely lacking. Another thing that has changed is the way she handles the toppings. She brings your order and then asks if you want onions and cilantro — which is something that should automatically come with the tacos, not treated like an extra. And on top of that, they no longer give beans like they used to, which was one of those small touches that made their service feel complete. I truly hope they improve the way they treat customers and are more transparent with their promotions. Their food is still good, but experiences like these make me think twice about coming back.

If you’re from LA, I don’t recommend to eat here. First, you can get better or the same for a little less at home. The tortilla chips suck and the salsa was mid. My kids LOVE beans. They spit these out. Go here if you want to have the worst gas of your life. My whole family has had so much gas all day and agruras like I’ve never had. Like we walked the strip and the farts were in the hundreds. Very dramatically unusual. The burps just taste rotten like the chivo. It’s very uncomfortable. Next, while the food had good flavor the quantity for the price is very small. It’s definitely overpriced. A glass soda is $4. The little bowls of birria were $23. They are small aluminum bowls. Like for a kid small. Last, we had a big party and the older lady that took our order was very unwelcoming and rude to my mother. To order and make a rude remark when they are your customers is insane to me. Like what happened to being grateful people are supporting you and showing kindness. La verdad que we are disappointed that they couldn’t be more hospitable but don’t think it’s worth it even without her rudeness. I also saw another recent review speaking about the rude lady taking orders and I can’t believe how accurate that was. Be warned! Que Dios los bendiga.

Google
We got menudo rojo, torta ahogada and tacos dorados de birria. It was delicious. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Vegas. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Google
Evwrything was good, we had the birria de res and the birria de chivo was not too strong. Their menudo blanco was definitely Good too. The highlight was the carnitas and their salsa and beans and the star of the show- the hand made tortillas! Would definitely come back

Google
Food was okay, Consome was kind of nutty I was not a fan Goat birra was great! Hot sauce game was poor Regular beef queso tacos were okay The service was quick, they served you at the table very politely. I was disappointed there was no agua fresca kind of drinks. Overall an ok Mexican restaurant.

Google
This a hidden gem! Great food, family oriented service :). And the food tastes authentic. This is the best Jalisco food I have tried so far. I had their birria and my fmwife had their menudo and we wanted to bring some back home with us since we are not locals. They serve you chips and refried beans when you sit on the table :). I was another a big fan of their strawberry water but everything else was great. Will definitely come back again when we visit Vegas :).

Nicholas K.

Google
I love birria, visiting here for family and dragged them here for THEIR first birria. Trust me, they'll be back and SO WILL I whenever I visit. This was on my list for the unique birria option of the bone-in platter (birria el chivo), but I'll admit the classic crispy corn with meat and cheese is my favorite. They have SUCH high quality tender meat and perfect consume. I ordered Horchata without realizing it was Horchata de Fresca (basically strawberry horchata), did not expect that! Not my thing but my wife and the two kids with us were OBSESSED - They said it was like drinking cotton candy. FREE chips with salsa and beans were great as well.

Food is very tasty and service is good! I loved Birria 🫶🏼 I highly recommend this place !

Yelp
After a night of partying you definitely want to come here to get your self a broth that will make you sweat out the hangover and get you back to living. If you ever been curious about trying Menudo this is the best spot to try it. The broth is flavorful, the meats taste clean and no funky flavor. Definitely one of the only places in Vegas that does right. The service here is helpful if you are unsure what to order if its your first time. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. You order your food at the cashier and in a short time you are being served your drinks and Chips&Salsa. Soon enough after that you are biting and enjoying your food. Service is fast. The ambiance is neutral, music is playing in the background and the seating is nothing fancy. Bench tables for big crowds and folding tables and chairs.

Yelp
In Vegas, celebrating my wife's birthday, and always curious about taqueria's in different states and other parts of the country. So after gorging myself at all the fine dining establishments Vegas has, I decided it was time to get back to my roots and find a bowl of menudo. This place looked well-loved on Yelp, so I decided to give it a try. I hopped into an Uber and popped on over. Upon entering you go straight to the counter and order your food. The menu also offered carnitas and Chivo type offerings, so I threw on some carnita tacos just to give it a try and I really wanted to try the goat but since I was alone, I didn't want to overindulge. The menudo was fine, nothing mind blowing, just a solid bowl of menudo... and the same with the carnita tacos. The thing that did raise the eyebrow was the lack of a variety of salsas. What they offer were boring beans that offered little flavor. They did provide a chile puree in oil (similar to what you find in a Chinese restaurant) that did add some heat which I used to boost the menudo and the beans. All in all - it was a good experience and I would do it again, but I would go with the goat.

Yelp
This place was an unexpected and surprisingly delish find! We wanted good Mexican food away from the busy strip and we found it! You order at the register and they bring it to your table. The place had relaxed vibe and staff was friendly and offered suggestions of items to try to those who were not familiar. We ordered Menudo, Potato tacos, birria quesatacos, regular tacos and 1lb of carnitas. The tacos were pretty large and very meaty. I was not a fan of the crunchy potato tacos as they were drenched in the sauce so they were immediately soggy. The menudo was a nice big portion and very tasty. Their spicy salsa was not, medium at best. But overall we did enjoy everything. They do not make burritos but a plus there was plenty of parking in a private lot.

Yelp
It's hard to find quality Mexican cuisine. This place exceeded my expectations. It felt like a truly Mexican restaurant in an actual Mexican town. The place felt original and authentic.

Yelp
Came in here for a random lunch and was not disappointed. Upon entering, the service was amazing! I was greeted, the menu explained and they even had a special on the day I dined in. It's a nice vibe inside. Lots of seating and very traditional decor. It gives that hole in the wall gem vibe all the way. So good. The food! The food is beyond amazing! I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. The food was fresh and orders were exact, I should have gotten a dessert but I had to get back to work. I am adding this place to my list.

Yelp
I just have to say the birria is the best I have had in Vegas! I've been to a few spots already and this one is good good! Highly recommended! The service was amazing! She was so hopeful and friendly! 10/10!!! The carnitas, surtida ( carnitas, cueritos, buche) OMG it was sooo good!! I highly highly recommend the Carnitas!! I also had a taco de lengua. - it was good but nothing like omg I have to have it again! I have had way better.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem in Las Vegas! Coming from Los Angeles I didnt know what to expect Mexican food in Las Vegas but I was not ready for this next surprise! El Compa is where it's at! The food was incredible and served different than what I am used to which is more Tijuana style. Here I got big pieces of delicious goat, some consume on the side and the tortillas. The people were super friendly and nice, very helpful and caring. Will definitely stop by again next time I'm in Vegas! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Food: Torta Ahogada was overall really good, taste was good, the carnitas & the cuerito went perfect together. Without cuerito probably would've been bland. Was not the torta I expected but over was good. Menudo rojo: it was really really good! A decent size for two if needed to be! QuesoTaco de Chivo: it was really good!! No consome, consome only given if you order 3+ tacos, didn't let me order a side of consome. Cheese quesadilla: really cheap, thick & lots of cheese!! Super good!! Service was super friendly & the atmosphere was super peaceful & calming. Family friendly +

Penelope P.

Yelp
Delicious Birria tacos that really satisfied my craving. They also give you a side of beans and chips. Place is huge with various tables and long benches to sit at and dine. Lady up front was nice enough to translate for me and help me make selections. Will try out the birria with rice and beans next time. First time trying goat and I liked it a lot .
google avatar

Andrew V.

Yelp
Pretty great place. Great atmosphere and service, speaks english and Spanish. I got the torta and strawberry horchata, both of which are good. Looking forward to going back on a daily special day to try their other food!
google avatar

Melanie L.

Yelp
Parking: I believe it has plenty of space Inside: large and good for bigger parties. Plenty of long tables to sit at for parties of 6-8. Food: I got taco de chiva. Meat was good and tender. You add any onion and cilantro and whatever you want on it. Quesadilla de res: a LOT of meat. Though I wish they spread the cheese and meat out more evenly. The bottom of the quesadilla was a giant chunk of cheese so I had to cut the quesadilla in long lines to mix around the meat and cheese. Sides: they give you chips and two different dipping sauces for them: salsa verde and beans. I enjoyed the beans and my husband enjoyed the salsa more. So it just depends on your tastebuds I guess. Service: order at the register. Sit yourself down and display your order number. I think the food came pretty quick.

Yelp
Menudo was delicious!! Have to go back to try the Birria. Friendly staff and ambiance. Will return soon.

Alba H.

Yelp
First time coming here but won't be my last. I went by myself and I felt so welcome! Everyone was very friendly. I tried la birria de res. It was so tender and juicy. It came with 4 big corn tortillas. I thought I would need more but they were bigger than I thought. I will be coming back to try other things

Yelp
My partner and I were craving birria tacos and I found this place thanks to their good reviews! We ordered to go and while we waited service was nice and provided our order in a decent time. The food smelt so good and I was ready to get home, we had ordered 8 tacos and that was more than enough! I appreciated the amount of fixings they gave us, more than enough. The flavor was good and they truly held up on the 15-minute drive home. The had a good amount of meat in them and they were cooked well!
google avatar

Noemi G.

Yelp
Second time coming here... Brought my family and the service was excellent just like I remember It's located just off the strip but not too far and you can tell it's clean and well maintained. The food was delicious and you can tell menudo was well prepared and clean. If you know about menudo that's super important and can make or break your meal. They provide you all the fixings and hand made tortillas. Definitely on my top places to eat at in Vegas.
google avatar

Freddy R.

Yelp
If in Las Vegas Definitely a must try place!!! This birria is one of the best ones I've had hands down!!!
google avatar

Kay S.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! It has such an authentic vibe that reminds me of Mexico I believe they are founders from Jalisco. After searching for a year, I finally found a spot that serves the best Menudo! The staff is incredibly friendly, and it's nice to hear everyone speaking Spanish--it feels so welcoming. I think I might be the only Asian girl here today, but it's all good! I had to try their birria tacos too because I can't wait to share this gem with my friends in LA!

David S.

Yelp
Even though El Compa is quite far from my home, I go every few weeks because the food is so outstanding. I have the same thing every time I go because I have not found anything like what I eat outside of Mexico. I always have the quesadilla with goat meat. It comes with beans, chips, and a cup of the broth that the goat meat is cooked in. Just writing this review is making me want to go, and if it was closer, I would go every few days. The restaurant is always clean, and the staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. If you have ever been curious about goat meat, go try it at El Compa. I have taken many friends who continue to go back on their own, it is that good. I am on my way.

Thomas G.

Yelp
Amazingly good ! A worthwhile drive from casinos when you want some real food and a sense of family hope and decency when you start feeling empty from the fake luxury lifestyle of the Wynne etc

Lin M.

Yelp
Best quesabirria tacos I have ever had, anywhere. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH. If you're like me and you love your quesabirria tacos w a crunch in every bite, this is your place. My family loves coming here. Their fresa horchata drink is amazing too! Give them a try.

Marie M.

Yelp
The tacos were okay nothing super great . The birria tacos I usually have other places are dipped in the sauce and then fried these are just fried tacos and consume on the side . The consume was just okay. There is a server that is an older lady and she was very rude she did not bring us all of our tacos . She was arguing we had everything luckily I had printed my receipt I showed her and then she seen that they still owed us more tacos , so tip print receipt .
google avatar

Sabrina N.

Yelp
The tacos dorados! The menudo! So authentic, so fresh, so delicious. The family that owns this place is so sweet & the food always comes out quickly. They make you feel like family.

Yelp

Yelp
Went for breakfast on SuperBowl Sunday. Food and service was Amazing. Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
Go for the Chivo Birria... really tasty. No frills but clean space with passable service. The food is good... not life changing, but worth the try.
google avatar

Stef A.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this spot. We came early on a Sunday. Our order was taken quickly. After a 40+ min wait (many customers came after us so we thought the wait was too be expected), another customer told us they may have forgotten our order. They were also waiting a long time and got up to ask after seeing everyone else be served before them. We got up to ask what happened and they told us their computers stopped working for several orders and it took another 20-25 minutes for our food to come out. Why didnt they try and figure out which orders got missed? The tacos were good but it sucked how long it took for it to come out. They did acknowledge our wait time at the very end of our meal by refilling my drink for free which was nice but we wasted quite a bit of time here. I don't feel like I got a typical service experience but otherwise the food was good.
google avatar

Jin H.

Yelp
Birria de chiva and quesabirria tacos are on POINT. Homemade salsa, spicy sauce, and the bean dip were bonus. Also gives discount for ordering multiple tacos. Friendly service, we'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Monchas P.

Yelp
The reviews say "the staff are rude" and "they are too lazy" but that's not true because they are very kind when they heard I was from North Carolina, they were kind. Anyway, the tacos I ate are AWESOME! Honestly, people hate the food because the way the restaurant looks. I will say it's not great but they're trying their best so I'll give another star for that. I really love how the benches look in here! Looking forward to come here again soon.
google avatar

Yelp
We used to go to the El Compa Birria location on Charleston but it was quite far for us so I'm super glad that they have a second location on Valley View! My friend loves birria de chivo so whenever he's in town, we always pay a visit! We went to El Compa Birria this past Saturday -- got there around 10:30AM ish. What you do is you order at the counter, pay, and they will give you a number to put on your table. You can sit anywhere you like and when the food is ready, they bring it to you! My friend and I decided to share a birria de chivo tatemada and a quesadilla on birria de chivo. Birria de chivo is braised goat and their version is absolutely delish! We each got a cup of their strawberry horchata as well. They give you chips, beans, and salsa as soon as you sit down so you have something to munch on while you wait. As mentioned before, their birria de chivo is delicious and flavorful. They gave us two cups of consome to go with our plate and quesadilla. The quesadilla was delicious -- filled with gooey cheese and birria. Be sure to sprinkle tons of onion and cilantro on the birria and don't forget the lime! The strawberry horchata was great! I'm usually not a huge fan of horchata because I don't like the cinnamon flavor. But their strawberry horchata did not have the strong cinnamon flavor, which I liked a lot! There was a lot of food! We didn't even finish it so we brought it home. I made left over birria de chivo with ramen later :) If you like goat, definitely give it a try but if the taste of the gaminess isn't your thing, then maybe try the beef instead.
google avatar

Marco H.

Yelp
This menudo is the closest thing I've had to eating back home in Jalisco. Been here too many times I've lost count, definitely a must try. No disappoint here! Ohh and please add both spices to your menudo!!

Jose L.

Yelp
El compa birria era mi lugar preferido , especialmente para comer birria pero después de darme cuenta que te venden birria de chivo pero la mesclan con carne de res pare de comer birria en heste lugar ..

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
The most expensive birria I have ever purchased and 100% NOT worth the price. Food is not it lacking flavor I don't understand the hype behind this restaurant. One tiny platter of birria with no sides was 22$. Everyone says you know a restaurant will be good based on their horchata and I can confirm this place did not pass the horchata test so that should've told me everything. I
google avatar

Marina M.

Yelp
I don't know about you, but I love menudo. I LOVE it. I would marry it if I could. So I always have an eye out for a delicious menudo place but am always left disappointed when I can only order it on weekends. Well, if you're like me and your menudo cravings don't only come around on weekends, and you need menudo on a Wednesday, this is the place! I haven't tried anything but the menudo...yet. They have the choice of red or white menudo both with or without hominy. I chose red with hominy. The first thing I noticed was the smell. My boyfriend usually cannot stand the smell of menudo - but you can tell that the tripe here is cleaned properly so it doesn't have a strong scent. The broth is flavorful and they do not skimp on the hominy and tripe. The portion size is gracious, and you get chili oil, chile flakes, lime, onion, cilantro, oregano, and 4 tortillas. If you dine in you will receive chips, beans, and salsa. The strawberry crème Agua Fresca is also a must try! Will update as I try new items from the menu.
google avatar

Miranda G.

Yelp
I had these quesatacos a few weeks ago and I'm still dreaming of them. The consomé with the tacos was so flavorful and not qreasy like other places. I liked that they give grilled onions and jalapeños on the side with the tacos in addition to regular onion and cilantro. My boyfriend ordered a torta ahogada and he loved it. The chile they gave on the side was good but spicy. They also give you complimentary chips with a bean dip on the side. We waited maybe 15 mins for our food to come out once we ordered. Cashier was very friendly. Plenty of tables to eat inside as well. We came in a Sunday around 2 and it was pretty busy but we were able to find seating. We would recommend!
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
Omgeeeee!! Love it I'm so sorry on my photo! But I promise you my menudo was bomb ! Perfect flavor for my hungover.
google avatar

Myra G.

Yelp
6 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip! We live in California. Originally from Jalisco. We were looking for a place to eat Mexican food. I follow a few Vegas foodies. All the places they recommended are closed on Monday. So I typed Birria near me and this place popped up. The food is authentic. We ordered the original way Birria is supposed to be de chivo. I'm definitely coming back.
google avatar

Isabel M.

Yelp
came here earlier this year after going to the meow wolf exhibit, and the food was amazing! everyone was really nice and helpful when we asked questions.
google avatar

Ronald W.

Yelp
Yes I saw Taco Chronicles on Netflix and came here because of it. Did not disappoint. Birria de Chivo is definitely enough for two normal appetites. So good. Does still taste have the goat taste, so order beef if that's not your thing. Beans, salsa, chips. Everything so good. I finished it all myself as I was on the way to the airport and didn't eat anything else the whole day.
google avatar

Claudia S.

Yelp
I was looking for a good birria place to eat and so glad that I found this place. I ordered a taco dorado , and quesadilla con carne and consome. The chivo meat was delicous and cooked to perfection as well as the hand made corn tortillas. The taco dorado was just as good. This is a must if you want to eat birria. I will be back to try more of their food great customer serice clean bathroom clean and simple restaurant simple menu food is delicous

Yelp
Love the birria, had the quesadilla this time. So good! A friend had a carnitas torta, which she said was very good, too.

Yelp
I was really craving some good birria de chivo. This place is excellent quick and friendly customer service delicious food. I'll definitely be coming back here frequently to check out the rest of the menu. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Came in for my last meal during my weekend away in Vegas to satisfy my craving for birria. As some have mentioned this restaurant was featured on Netflix's Taco Chronicles and being that my family is also from the state of Jalisco in Mexico I was super excited to try a little taste of home. The restaurant is simple with some 4 person tables and chairs and a few picnic style long tables and chairs and a mural like wall banner. My husband and I ordered one goat birria with consomé and one order of beef birria with consomé, along with Mexican cokes. The staff who brought out our food dropped off some chips with salsa de tomatillo, refried beans and the chopped cilantro/onions/limes and salsa for the birria. The refried beans alone could have been my meal with a few of their handmade corn tortillas. This along with the tomatillo salsa took me back to my childhood and many visits to Mexico. Once the birria arrived we were greeted with hot bowls of aromatic goodness. It took more condiments than I'd hoped to doctor up the birria as the consome was on the bland side which is why I docked the one star. I guess when you know good birria the condiments should be minimal. The batch seemed to have been made on the day of so the meats/spices hadn't stewed enough to knock my socks off. I'll definitely be back to find the spot on my next Vegas trip. Until then, get the tortillas, beans and tomatillo salsa with a Mexican Coke, it'll give you that comfort snack feeling!
google avatar

Teresa S.

Yelp
The menudo is so clean it's white. We ordered birria tacos. Omg best birria I ever tried. Self seating and good prices. This tiny hole in the wall caters to the Hispanic community for once and hand made tortillas were excellent. I suggest you eat here for the hangover. The Jamaica was the best I ever tried not to sweet.
google avatar

Juana F.

Yelp
Service was fenomenal. You can tell is a family business and the staff goes over to help out. Even if it was packed we were sitting down in 20 min. Did I say handmade tortillas!

Yelp
Came here after watching Vegas Must Try on the tube! They have a location on the east side but this location is much closer to us. I've been twice in a week and I'm not even sorry. Dine in and they also service chips and bean dip which is so worth it! I love both the goat and beef birria! Tatemada style is also great. Their tortillas are fresh and so good. I honestly can't get enough! They also have a great ordering system where you get a text when your order is ready! It's clean, priced reasonably and honestly so delicious. I've even reheated a leftover taco in the air fryer and it was amaaaaazing! Can't wait to be back again soon! Highly recommended!

Yelp
It's Cinco de Mayo on this Friday. Time for something exotic rather than the usual tacos and burritos. El Compa has this goat soup (Chivo en Caldo) that I wanted to try. I ordered takeout. It comes with a bag of onions/cilantro/lime. Aluminum wrapped corn tortillas. Two small packets of salsa. I poured the goat soup in a bowl. Added the onions and cilantro. Squeezed the two slices of lime. Then emptied the two packets of salsa. I mixed everything up. Then I tore up the corn tortillas into littles pieces and added to the soup so it would absorb all that broth goodness. I stirred everything up...then scooped a spoonful into my mouth. Muy Delicioso! The juicy tender meat easily fell apart with every spoonful. The tortilla pieces keep tasting better and better after a few minutes of fully absorbing the amazing goat broth. Despite the purists, I recommend eating the Chivo en Caldo this way!
