I really don't like leaving a 'not good' review, but the truth must be told. I was excited to try this place today and I really had high hopes.
I wanted to try their carnitas, but they didn't have any. I was there probably around 2:30 PM. So, I opted for two tacos, an asada/steak and a shredded beef. Tacos were $2.50, so my bill was only $5 plus tip.
I didn't expect two tacos to fill me up, but it was just a snack and an excuse to try this taco truck.
First impression, where's the onion's and cilantro? There were only a scant few on each taco!
Second thought, why does the steak look like little pellets? Pretty odd.
Sadly, and the real reason I jumped on to write this review so quickly, is that in my very first bite of the steak taco... a hair. Blegh. Also, gristle in the meat that couldn't be chewed.
The shredded beef was a bit greasy, but had good and even a bit of a unique flavor to it. But there wasn't much meat there.
In the end, I was disappointed, and a bit grossed out by the hair, which is just unacceptable. Steak taco was bland, chewy, small and generally unimpressive. Shredded beef had more potential. They just need to make it less greasy, and not shy away from adding onions and cilantro. Also, portions should be a little bigger. As for their asada, they need to start over from scratch with that, sadly. And tiny pellet sized pieces aren't going to cut it.
