Great hole in the wall. Friendly and attentive service, clean seats and tables, and quick food. The guacamole came out in a molecajete with freshly fried tortilla chips, all unsalted (so make sure you grab a salt shaker!) 3 different types of complimentary salsa in bottles. Birria nice, juicy, flavorful. We ordered 2 sets of 2 taco quesa birria with some Mexican coke. Truly excellent lunch. Dog friendly, even if you are just passing by.

Unexpectly stellar birria tacos in such a peaceful atmosphere, so happy we found this place. The food is amazing and the people are very friendly. Will definitely come back!

A very good place to eat Quesabirrias/TacoBirria/TortaBirrias/Fries. Very homemade birrias, the birria tastes incredible thanks to dried red chili 👌🏻 They also offer Tamales, Chilaquiles and the fish tacos 10/10 I recommend them. You feel like you are eating in Mexico, the service is very friendly and helpful. Thank you for such good service, I will definitely come back.

Amazing, amazing and flavorful birria served with a kind, genuine attitude. I've eaten at San Diego mexican spots all over for more than a decade. As a regular customer, they are always reliably great. This is a gem you can't miss. The salsas are amazing and seem in-house fresh. You could go to some hip, inauthentic place for birria in North Park that serves you two tacos for $20 or you could just come here and get birria that blows that place out of the water for half the price. Your choice!

Birria tacos are one of my favorite foods and this place makes them to perfection. The flavor and tenderness of the meat was point. Tried the taco and shrimp taco too; both really fresh and delicious. Would’ve loved to try more. Definitely give this place a try.

The tacos were delicious 🤤 winners 🏆 We tried their birrieria tacos 🌮🌮 and the meat was perfectly tender and the sauce was perfectly spicy. Worth stopping by, tacos are $4 and a good size.

In making this review a year later and me and my girlfriend still talk about these tacos. This is the peak of what tacos can be. Did everything from scratch in 10 minutes and gave us extra. If we can get him to cater our wedding we will.

I was looking for a quick bite near by and ended up in a tiny wonderland of full flavor. I asked the cook (that's how small this place is. You can talk to the cook) what is the best seller and he recomendé the Birria Tacos. It sells by piece so ordered 3 with Jarrito to wash down. The taco was amazing. Crunch and soft inside, flavor was alive and not overpowering with saltiness like other places. It was a good meal and for me 3 taco was enough as lunch. The parking is little tricky but you can walk a little for this. There are some sitting area like counter top sitting inside the restaurant and some tables outside on the sidewalk. A little Mexican vibe for you to enjoy.

Friendly service, excellent food from a family owned business. My wife and I visit SD often and this was a great find. Im not usually a fan of birria because its messy (yes, I know Im weird) but this was worth the messiness. Some of the tastiest birria Ive ever had, the consume was excellent. I assume it was one of the owners who was there and he was very friendly and I felt genuinely appreciated as a customer which is rare these days.

The best quesabirria tacos I've ever had! The meat is so flavorful and the tacos are stuffed full of birria, red onions, cilantro, and gooey cheese. I got a side of consommé to dip the tacos in and drink the soup afterwards and it was seasoned very well. My husband had the Birria fries and we were shocked at how big the portion was! It was very very heavy, but he loved them. Service was friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends and clients for birria tacos. They have happy hour deals for fish & shrimp tacos on Taco Tuesdays and select hours on certain weekdays, so I look forward to visiting to see if their fish tacos are good too.

This place was smack dab in the middle of all the fun for SD pride! Delicious tender juicy meat with great prices, I only had one but that was enough for me, they pack them well! It's a mom & pop shop with very nice helping staff.

Came here for yet another taco Tuesday, and have I stumbled upon a hidden gem?? The fish/shrimp tacos were actually so juicy that it was burning me because I couldn't stop devouring. The birria tacos that they are known for slapped hard. I had to get another shrimp taco bc I was too excited but that one was breaded a little poorly but still tasted good. Way better than like Oscar's for example.

Oscar is so fun and helpful! Excellent customer service. He recommended the jamaica drink, and it was refreshing. I LOVED the birria tacos with consome!! Probably one of the best I've had. It was juicy, tasty, and full of flavor, with or without consome. I also got a chicken tamale because they ran out of pork. It was good too! But for sure come here for their birria!

From the moment I walked in, the owner made me feel welcome and he was kind enough to provide some recommendations l. The highlight for me? The sauces. Absolutely packed with flavor and each one brought a unique kick. The food itself was fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying, but those sauces are the most memorable.

Finally had a chance to try at the Hillcrest Farmer's Market after driving by for awhile and damn! Super flavorful and authentic, the spice hits just right. I've tried most of the top rated birria in SD and this is one of the best. Definitely will be back!

Birrieria Enriquez is an absolute gem!! Every item was delicious and generous and fresh. The staff members were incredibly knowledgeable and warm. And this kind of environment is my absolute favorite. It is not fancy, but feels wonderfully inviting and homey. Highest recommendation!!

What a gem! Craving birria and this hit the spot. We each had 2 birria tacos with a side of consome to split and it was absolutely delicious. Consome was so flavorful, finished the last bit of it with the spoon once the tacos were gone. Tried the guac and chips as well which was super fresh as I saw it being made to order. Location was convenient, although you'll need street parking. Inside itself is small, but tidy. Service was quick and friendly, would definitely recommend and come back!

We were visiting San Diego and stumbled upon this little spot. We gave it a try, and it did not disappoint! The carne asada fries were delicious, and you get a good amount - definitely my favorite. We also got the birria torta, and it was also good. All the staff is super friendly and attentive, so it was a great experience overall! Definitely coming again next time I'm in SD.

Birrieria was great overall! The tacos were flavorful, but it was a bit disappointing that the consommé wasn't included--especially at \$5 per taco. Service was excellent--staff were friendly and very attentive. The ambiance was also a plus, with plenty of seating and a comfortable vibe. For being open just a year and a half, they've got solid potential. A location closer to central North Park or Hillcrest could really help them thrive.

The best tacos Ive ever eaten. I had the fish taco which was steaming hot, juicy, with nice lime and cilantro on top. Then I had birria taco... yum! Best ever. I want to go back and try everything its so good.

The answer is always Birria! I was hurting and hungry after a late Saturday night and was craving tacos and menudo. Stopped into Birrieria Enriquez as I'd had it bookmarked for quite some time to nurse me back to health. Small, cozy shop right on University in North Park was just what the Dr. ordered. Staff was super friendly and you could see the tortas being made right behind the window. I ordered the Birria taco and the Menudo California. Warning, this does come with tripe as the protein. Food came out quick and they even offered samples of their new white fish ceviche. Bomb! Enjoyed everything and will definitely be back to try the Menudo Sonora as they were out on Sunday.

Spent a couple of days in San Diego. Found Birrieria Enriquez online. Stopped in for lunch with the family. Carlos (the cook) was running the register, the kitchen and serving the food! The birria was legit - my kids loved it. Both kids had the queso-tacos. I ordered the birria torta. My wife and I also shared a shrimp taco and a fish taco. Carlos was awesome. My daughter asked for some "chips & salsa" and even though it wasn't on the menu, Carlos made a batch fresh from scratch. The consume was amazing. So much flavor. The restaurant is small but friendly and inviting. Normally I wouldn't say anything about the bathroom - but - it was immaculate. The food was excellent, the service amazing and we will be stopping by again the next time we are in town.

Wooooowwwzzaaaa Alright, this place slaps. I love the man working the entire restaurant, you can tell he does it with love. I had one quesabirria (fire) & one birria taco. Man were they delicious. Juicy, pipping hot, and the cilantro and onion were so crisp. I even asked where the hell they get cilantro that taste so good. Double tortilla tacos to hold and absorb the juices. And my god is there juice. Inside is this cute quirky area with allot of seating. Was offered salsa and some cream salsas immediately. The prices were 10/10, legit they have priced their food so accordingly and respectively, I would have paid more. They're not open late so my late cravings will suffer but I am excited this is local and available.

Holy fuck! They are slow. If you're dining in and seated you'll prob be served fast. If you're waiting on a to go order. Sit your ass down for 30min and wait! Terrible

Service was quick, helpful, and friendly. The Birria, (meat and broth) birria taco, and Birria quesadillas were flavorful, juicy, and well seasoned. You cannot go wrong with any of these orders. One of the best Birria in San Diego! I'd definitely check this place out if you're looking for good Birria in the neighborhood.

Amazing birria taco and super helpful staff!!! I usually order take out and everything is ready promptly here. Have been there three times in the last two weeks and the quality was always top notch!

The food was and portions were AMAZING for the price! There was only one guy working and it was pretty busy, the guy working was very nice and apologetic for a longer wait. (we really didnt notice until he said something) It's a cute and small place. I will definitely be coming back!

RE: Birrieria Enriquez in San Diego I've just read Yelp's message that my posted Honest review from 04/25/24 visit will be removed from this business's Yelp page. As to have clarity on the exact violation, what part of my review was a violation? I need to know as to NOT repeat this. I did NOT use profanity or make disparaging comments, about the business. I expressed my negative experience, my opinion and supported it with facts: based mostly on Inadequate hand washing and poor handling of food as it was also noted violations by the HEALTH DEPARTMENT INTELLIGENCE posted by Yelp!! And despite those violations, the staffer continued to violate by not washing his hands after I witnessed him touching and poking his ears and NOT washing his hands. I even asked him to wash his hands and wear gloves but as he said, ' I'm allergic to gloves,' I was uncomfortable and in disbelief, insisted my food order cancelled. ALL reviews whether rated from 1 or 5 stars should be included and welcomed, especially if the writer has proof of their visit to that business. Yelp's removal of my Honestly expressed posted review is a disappointment and makes Me question whether readers can trust and respect Yelp's process as a Reliable Reference, represented as Trusted source of shared experiences and INTEGRITY.

One of my friends recommended this place because they absolutely loved it. So we checked out this place and it was my first time. I didn't have high expectations but I was shocked on how good the food is, it was super good and very flavorful! Definitely one of the best Mexican food I had in awhile. It is a little on the pricy side but I think it's well worth the price and the wait for it. The staff is super friendly and usually there's only two people working and preparing the food. I would definitely recommend and come back again. The restaurant itself is a bit small and doesn't have much naturally lighting. There's some flies but that's totally okay with me.

This small North Park suite on University Ave was last seen slinging seafood based tacos less than a year ago. I'm uncertain if the owner is the same as before, but the menu has now shifted to birria and cabeza (head meat). Plates, tacos, tortas, and quesatacos were the vehicles for the proteins. Some tamales, desserts, drinks, and smoothies were also offered. The inside had less than 10 stools for countertop seating while a few outdoor tables were out front. If it's even possible, I think the dining capacity was reduced after the interior configuration was revamped. My picks were a birria taco and the birria ramen. The taco was served on double corn tortillas with cilantro and onions as garnishments. A lime wedge and radish slices were also provided. Their version was pretty solid compared to the competition. The ramen was served in a styrofoam container which was typical. The amount of stewed beef added to the noodles seemed to be more than what I have experienced. Since my order was to go, the worker (owner?) did a nice job of shrink wrapping the container with plastic to minimize any leakage. The prices were reasonable given what I have seen charged for tacos nowadays. Despite the limited size of its operation, I felt the food quality at Birrieria Enriquez was deserving of a four star rating.

Tried the Sonora menudo. Dope. Totally recommend. Broth is incredibly rich. Tacos de birria and consommé were also really good. I even enjoyed their coffee. They have almond milk for your coffee, and several smoothies for those of you weirdos who would come to a birria sonorense spot and ask for a non-meat option. Staff was friendly and amenable. Ambience is cute and romantic.

I have been here at least 10x now since I found out they were open and I owe it to them to praise this place! They are Clean, Consistent and Top Notch! They are a Birrieria but dont count out anything on their menu! I love their birria tacos but I honestly haven't had a fish taco as good as theirs in quite a while! The salsas are fire as well! They are kind and service is excellent! There is a reason they are rated so highly as they exemplify what a small business should do to stand out! Its tough to find parking at times to get here but put in the extra effort to come visit them!

This young man is making some delicious beef birria and tamales. I had both when I visited his new eatery. I had two quesa tacos with beef birria and a chicken tamale and rajas tamale or cheese and jalapeno. The quesa tacos were fantastic. The beef was juicy and flavorful, and the tacos were very well prepared. I liked that the corn tortillas had a touch of crispiness. The tacos were simply delicious. The rajas tamales were outstanding. It arrived pipping hot with the cheese melted and hot steam exiting as I broke into it. The peppers inside were not overly ho but packed great flavors. The masa or the corn was really good, too. The chicken tamale was very good, too, and the chicken was well seasoned and tender. It was a little on the dry side, however. This place has a nice line of tacos and tamales. The menu is simple, but the quality is there. I liked small businesses like this where they only make a few things, but they make them well. Great service!

So strange! I walked in, an employee was behind the counter chopping something, looked at the menu and tried to decide what might be good to order. Continued waiting...employee never looked up. Stood there for a few more minutes, turned around and walked out. So strange!

Birria torta, Birria Ramen, taco de cabeza and Asada burrito surpassed my expectations. I've had my fair share of birria and this place is definitely on my top 5. This place is a must try. Service was fast and friendly. And food came out fast. Horchata and Jamaica are delicious. Will definitely come back a when I'm in the area.

Stumbled across this small gem while roaming around San Diego. The birria is delicious! This restaurant isn't the prettiest but it's good enough to come and have a great meal. The service was great and if you love Birria this is the perfect place to try!

Excellent service and great authentic Mexican food this is the place you need to go, Got the birria torta- massive and really good a-lot of flavor salsas are awesome. Menudo sonorense- the most authentic menudo I've had in san diego period. Ask for pata "pig foot" as add on its great! Jamaica fresh fruit water- perfect flavor not watered down like other places by the time i took photos i was done with the water that speaks for itself. IN GENERAL ITS A MUST VISIT IF YOUR AROUND SAN DIEGO!

There was one party in the small restaurant on a weekday at lunch. The person behind the counter was quite friendly and described the quesabeza as a beef check taco with cheese and their birria taco as their most popular item. When I got home, my to go order was still piping hot. The quesabeza was my favorite, as the meat was tender and juicy. On the other hand, the birria was a tad dry. Since they were out of chicken tamales, I tried the beef and I thought the beef was also a little dry as was the dough.

The tacos are so yummy, don't sleep on the pescado. Very hot and fresh well seasoned batter and delicious salsas. Parking is a challenge. Will probably return.

Very happy to have found this hole-in-the-wall birria spot in North Park with incredibly flavorful consommé that outshines a few of the more famous birria spots in San Diego. Their menu is simple and features primarily birria or cabeza either as a plate, taco, torta, or quesataco, as well as birria ramen, menudo, and tamales. We tried their birria plate which came with a very reasonably sized bowl of birria in consommé, corn tortillas, and sides of radish, lime, red onion, and cilantro. We also tried their quesabirria which were hefty and packed with meat and flavor. We wanted to try their tamales as well but they did not have any available when we went on a weekday afternoon. Very low key spot with only a few tables for dining in, definitely a spot that focuses on the food rather than ambiance. All in all, real solid birrieria that we will return to!

My husband and I really love birria tacos and have been to several places around town but none have compared to Birrieria Enriquez. The quesabirria taco has so much flavor, the meat is juicy, and it is perfected with a squeeze of lime. We also had their battered fish taco - you MUST try this as well. The batter has so much flavor and the fish is so perfectly tender - mixed with the crunch of the batter it is incredible. They have a selection of Mexican sodas- I would recommend the tamarind jaritos. My husband and I live down the street from this place and it is our second time visiting. We love this place and need to bring our friends and family here to experience these tacos! These guys have been open for a year and I believe they are destined for great success with the quality of their food. Make sure you put this one on your San Diego list! Ps. The food was devoured so quickly all I could get is a photo of the quesabirria taco.

Outstanding! Carlos is a one man wrecking crew, cooking, serving and taking orders. Had a Quesabirria Taco and a Cabeza taco, both stuffed with lots of luscious meat, onions and cilantro on top, double corn tortillas. Get a side of the consomme' to dip and add a bit of hot sauce, perfection! A cold lemonade to wash it down. A little off the beaten path between Hillcrest and the start of N Park o University, but so worth the trip!

Everything was absolutely amazing! They had the best horchata I've had in a long time. I got a carne asada burrito and tried the birria ramen. They were both so delicious I'm drooling just thinking about it. The vibe was chill, welcoming, comfortable, and had good music.

Im back!!!! Every-time I come back, the tacos taste more and more delicious each time! The perfect environment with music not too loud or low. The cooks and servers are always so welcoming and wonderful service. You will definitely leave with a full stomach.

I was in the area and was really craving some birria. Im very particular on flavorful consomé and this place did not disappoint. We were greated by the lovely gentleman in the front and he took our order and answered all our questions. Our food was quickly made and was very delicious. I highly recommend coming here. The food is authentic and the service is even better. Definitely a hidden gem. Can't wait to be back!
