The brand new food pod on Williams and Mason just opened up...and this Birria food truck was one of the first food trucks to open in the pod. So, I had to try it out and support the local business.
Upon first look, the food truck is spotless. Actually, it's a brand new truck...so no complaints there in the cleanliness department! It did make me wonder if the chef was also new, but the owner explained they also run a popular Mexican taqueria several blocks away. Good to know this isn't their first time!
Looking at their menu, I really like how they're specializing in traditional Birria. I'm starting to get tired of food trucks trying to offer "general" items...so it's refreshing to see a food cart offering something specialized.
I'm not gonna lie, I don't know much about Birria, so take my review here with a grain of salt. BUT, I do know when I come across a good taco. So, I ordered couple Quesatacos. Not much to say, other than yummm! The taco was lightly deep fried, filled with Birria, onions, cilantro, and cheese. It also came with the consomé dip, so I opted out of any salsa. Once again, I don't have much experience with this dish, but as a taco lover, it was really good!
The owner was super nice, and the service was fast. Only took about 5 mins to get the food, and it came out fresh and hot. Everything was made to order.
Next time, I look forward to trying the Birria Ramen and Birria Fries! Not sure how authentic those items are, but it sounds like pretty good options to me :)
