Birrieria Pepe Chile

Having lived in Southern California and spent time in Mexico City, I feel qualified to say exactly two things. 1. Most Mexican food in Portland is... not great. 2. This place is _legit_. Definitely try the street tacos and their horchata, you won't be disappointed.

I asked for habenero salsa inside my dumb cali burrito and I not only got it, but I got more on the side. It’s nice to be trusted that you want extra spicy and then provided with even more in case it wasn’t spicy enough. This is EASILY the best burrito I’ve ever had in town - made with care and love and spice. I love this chain but THIS is the good one. The dude who made my burrito made it so amazingly, I almost went back to ask him for a hug.

Cool cart that pretty much focuses on birria items. I tried their ramen birria, birria nachos, birria torta, and street tacos with a couple friends. The food came out pretty quick, even when it was just one person working the cart. The birria torta was super flavorful. The portions are also generous. Overall, cool cart to check out.

Deciding on going here? Just go because this is the best food around! The staff is so nice and always out there working hard even when snowing! That is dedication! I go here all the time and the food is always so good it is definitely good value for your money the portions are huge! Honestly just really good comfort food

What a hidden gem! They opened recently in the food truck pod and I’m glad we got to try it :) Their handmade tortillas were both soft and crispy with the right amount of thickness. The beef and the lamb were tender and flavourful and the horchata was a perfect drink for the habanero salsa we had haha would love to come back to try other items on the menu!

Got this huge bowl of birria with the tortillas for only $13. Incredible value and tasty. Worthy of the 4.7 star rating

Best food and great price that cant be beat. Super Torta with chicken is my go to and it taste better every time I come back. Sandwich pictured is half... large portions! Bring your appetite. Staff is always friendly. Watch out for the orange hot sauce, it's a fiery one.

Oh my! Oh my! So great to have BPC in the hood! Great service. Great food… and you can smell it from down the street. Menus is extensive so you’re not going to get board if you came here 2 or 3 times a week. They have beer and other drinks available.

QuesoTaco crunch and cheesy. Lots of flavors. Can't wait to go back. Quick and easy. A little hard to find parking though.

Not sure how they make a profit because the portions are huge, expensive recyclable to-go containers and great food truck pricing like in the ol' days. Menu selection a bit too much for a tiny truck, nonetheless the quesadillas are awesome and you get more than your money's worth. Watched a hard-working gentleman single-handedly raise and secure heavy pergola wood for their outdoor seating. Covered picnic tables makes it a fun day out. Communication might be challenging as described in previous reviews. That is ok ~ the long, long hours of blood, sweat & tacos by a small family is always amazing. May not get everything understood, but it is always followed with thank yous and plenty of salsa & napkins!

One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. The tortilla was fresh, slightly crispy and just perfect. Inside was eggs, refried black beans, sour cream, guac and salsa verde chilaquiles! It was so good and satisfying, I can't explain it. My brother loved his tacos. Service was good and prices were beyond reasonable.

A gem on Williams and our new favorite taco spot for carne asada tacos. The tacos are soo good we have yet to try anything else although everything on the menu looks fantastic!!

Taco truck with outdoor eating. Almost like a window joint. They is even outdoor seating. Parking isn't easy, but it's not the worst. I was able to easily park inside their little coldesaq but it was a very tight fit. I should have just parked on the street. I really liked their menu selection. It made it hard to order since I couldn't choose. Eventually I just picked the birria pizza since it seemed like the biggest bang for the buck. I'm so glad u did. I will admit, I wish it came with a side of veggies, maybe even at least a small bag of mixed cabbage. It's very meaty and cheesy. I'd forsure recommend this place. Im sure ill come back one of these days when im in town.l again.

LOL My first review three months ago mentioned that they kept the change when I gave them bills. We'll, it happened again. Is another $.50 gonna kill me, of course not. But it's underhanded. Also makes me worry about using my card, are they selling my info? Nickel and dime (actually, quarters) BS. Yes, the queso taco was good, but don't substitute birria with fish like I did. The birria Sopes was too chewy. I think I've tried about seven Portland birria hotspots and Birrieria PDX Madison is definitely my favorite.

Solid quesabirria, kind staff, great portions -- what more can you want! Stopped in for quesabirria tacos with consume and loved the side of pickled red onions and radishes. If you have a hankering, this is a great spot.

I've been here twice now and the food has been consistently good. First time I got the Cali burrito which was tasty, but I do wish the fries were just a little crispier. They seemed just a little undercooked. Second time I got the super nachos with chicken and they were good. A ton of food for a good price. Service is also consistently great and I love all their salsas. Definitely want to come back and try the ramen and queso taco next time.

Was trying to get to a different Birrieria place but ended up here and it was fine. Pricing was very reasonable, however, the consume was abit bland and there was no spice to it. The tacos were yummy but the few other places I have been to I prefer over this one. Service was great and the seating area was clean and spacious.

This place was recommended by a friend since he had placed an order through Uber Eats. We love birria so we decided why not try it's actual location. Think of your classic lonchera, easily accessible with your classic offering. The quesabirria was good, had all the ingredients but was missing a lil something. The ramen, is where it went downhill as my friend was not a mega fan of it. So I would definitely stick with your classic taco/ quesadilla. While the food was average, the service was good and the benches outside of their location make for a great sitting are if you are starving like we were. It will definitely satisfy an immediate craving but if you have the time to make a drive elsewhere I'd recommend!

Hmph, it was okay but not enough to go back for. Stopped by to order some tacos and the cashier suggested their special of quesotaco with consume ... no consume was packed up with my order and I didn't realize it until I got home. Tacos had a ton of flavor but it was not worth what we paid. Kinda like eating at a pricey place and still needing to hit a fast food restaurant to fill up ... at a taco truck. Portland pricing in full effect here.

Ordered off Uber eats. I would give 5 stars except for 8 tacos they only gave me 2 tiny salsas, barely enough for 1 taco each when I specifically asked for extra salsa please. Oh well the tacos were still really good though. The quesabirria tacos were killer. The carne asada and carnitas were ok, but they skimped out on the meat inside. The saving grace is the tortillas though, not sure if they make them in house but they are delicious and have the perfect texture. AOverall I would order again, next time just give me enough salsas please

Me and my husband come here and love it. It's a cute little taco truck and has a wide selection. The options are fantastic, and unlike any other Birria place we have gone to, and we've tried a lot! The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful, and the wait is absolutely reasonable. I love their Horchata, compare to other spots it tastes heavier on the cinnamon which I love, so that's a compliment from me. We make the drive from Washington to come here and are satisfied every time.

Favorite birria place in town. I recommend this place to everyone! I usually get the burrito but you can't go wrong here. We got the torta and that was humongous and delicious!! And sometimes you get to see the dog that the place is named after, and who doesn't love a local celebrity?!

Excellent birria! And really great people! Being from NYC - we like to say that we know really good food, and so if you'll hear me - I say, one of the best birria we've ever had! The food is made to order, with small batches of delicious meat stewed lovingly for hours by the real mexican mom of the operation! Their tacos, birria items, and of course the consommé - are all top notch. We really truly enjoyed everything (and went back for more several times since our first try)! If I could recommend one fave pick though - it would have to be the Birria Torta! The bread, the meat, the build - all so good! Big, affordable and delicious!

The food is great, but man, I left there so frustrated by the girl on the register. She didn't know the menu, shorted me a consome, didn't know how to work the register, and basically seemed clueless. Again the food is good, so I'll be back, but please train them better. As a customer, having to inform the staff as to what's LITERALLy written on the menu... we'll that just doesn't sit right with me. I don't know if this is a generational thing and maybe I'm just used to an old fashioned sense of competency in the workplace, but come on. I wanna think this is her first day of work as that's the only way I can come to terms with this abysmal service. Or maybe I'm just hangry and a minor inconvenience sent me off into a rant. Am grateful to be eating now. Food's great.

So disappointed with this business!!!! This is my second time trying them out..food is good..but sadly I received one of my orders with hair on the food.Came back to tell the lady my food had a hair and she blamed it on me!!!! We bought 3 orders and a burrito an just one had hair .... But the lady was so unprofessional that I felt more embarrassed then her.Feel sorry for the business owner that have this type of people running there business.Food is good but real real bad service from the lady running it!!!!

This specific cart focuses on birria related items, which is pretty cool. We tried several items just because out of curiosity and hunger. These included - Ramen birria, birria nachos, street tacos, birria torta, and birria quesadilla. My standout dish would be the birria torta. The bread had a nice texture and each bite was full of flavor. The nachos were also good and portions were generous. The ramen wasn't too bad. I used the broth as a dip for the tacos too. Overall, cool place to check out.

Trying out the popularity of Birria. Checked out a Birria spot close to my area and came across this Food Truck, food was decent, friendly service. In my experience with Birria felt it needed more flavor. I ordered Birria ramen it came with a poached egg, meat and noodles and other toppings. Noodles lacked flavor and consistency. Ordered a taco it was also average.not my favorite but worth a try

One of the new food trucks that have popped up on the new Williams food pod. They have a nice variety of birria ramen, tacos, quesatacos, burritos, and quesadillas. The prices here range from $2.5 for a taco to $10+ for one of the larger entrees. The truck is clean and in front there is a table that might be shared between the other food pods or one near the entrance so might be more of a to-go food pod at the moment. In addition to beef birria they also have other options like lamb which is unique from the usual places. The two times that I've been here there can be a wait time of 20+ mins so if you're tight on time or doing a large order I would recommend calling in advance for pick up so you can minimize wait time. The quesa tacos were good both with lamb and beef. Quesadilla is super filling with plenty of toppings but stuffed so be sure to eat it over the container or plate so you don't have anything fall out!

This place is good when it's good - but incredibly inconsistent. The tacos are never made the same, thus taste different each time, depending on who's making it. The WOMEN run this place perfectly. If you show up and the men are taking the orders or cooking, turn around -- because they will take FOREVER just to give you an incorrect order. Happens literally every time.

Ordered the Sope and deluxe taco... wow amazing flavor! I've walked by this family owned food cart in my neighborhood many times, but never tried it because I didn't know what Birteria is... (hint: it's slow cooked stewed beef and one of the most delicious things I've put in my mouth.) Go there and be happy. That is all.

The brand new food pod on Williams and Mason just opened up...and this Birria food truck was one of the first food trucks to open in the pod. So, I had to try it out and support the local business. Upon first look, the food truck is spotless. Actually, it's a brand new truck...so no complaints there in the cleanliness department! It did make me wonder if the chef was also new, but the owner explained they also run a popular Mexican taqueria several blocks away. Good to know this isn't their first time! Looking at their menu, I really like how they're specializing in traditional Birria. I'm starting to get tired of food trucks trying to offer "general" items...so it's refreshing to see a food cart offering something specialized. I'm not gonna lie, I don't know much about Birria, so take my review here with a grain of salt. BUT, I do know when I come across a good taco. So, I ordered couple Quesatacos. Not much to say, other than yummm! The taco was lightly deep fried, filled with Birria, onions, cilantro, and cheese. It also came with the consomé dip, so I opted out of any salsa. Once again, I don't have much experience with this dish, but as a taco lover, it was really good! The owner was super nice, and the service was fast. Only took about 5 mins to get the food, and it came out fresh and hot. Everything was made to order. Next time, I look forward to trying the Birria Ramen and Birria Fries! Not sure how authentic those items are, but it sounds like pretty good options to me :)

Got to try their stuff twice and it was okay, ordering the super taco (must have) and their Burria burrito and then The torta. Ordered the birria burger and the order was never received. Got a refund from Grub Hub, ordered the same thing since I was still hungry and wanted to this places food. Order got cancelled. Don't know if it's because the order got overlooked or rejected as it was the same exact order placed earlier but I think I'm good on this place. ‍ nice while they delivered food. Hit or miss on delivery, from my experience, as in, whether you'll get your food or your order accepted. I won't shop here again but try your luck with ordering online. In person I'd recommend. Iffy on completion voc order tho. Was looking forward to exploring their menu but I wont be ordering from here online anymore, maybe I'll be in the area and stop by but very doubtful.

Pretty new food cart on Williams. Went here for lunch with a few coworkers. The tacos were pretty good. My coworker got the birria plate and I would say that is the best bang for buck. The ramen was good they didn't use the typical instant ramen noodles. I used the ramen broth to dip my tacos in. My only issue was I wish the broth had more depth to it like some of the other birria taco places I've been to. All in all I'd come back if I'm in the area.

I might have eaten some tacos before taking a photo, lol. I am incredibly happy about these Quesotacos. I might have to make this a weekly dinner run! The truck was very clean! Looks brand new! The folks were very nice as well! The person cooking told was happy to tell me that the tortillas were home made!!! I love this place already & it's my first visit!

My favorite place to get dank food when I'm exploring Hawthorne! The quesadilla is one of the best I've had yet, fed both myself and my partner for only $10!

Really good tacos. Tasty beef, good corn T's. Manager gave us a side sauce to try, which was spicy and flavorful.

I went to order a burrito, but the woman at the cart charged me for soup that I didn't order. When I proceeded to tell her that she already charged me for $6 soup. She still wanted to charge me for the $10 burrito. She either couldn't speak much English or pretended not too. Total scam, not coming back to spend another dollar there.

Brand new food truck pod on Williams and this truck is so unbelievably good! One of the best tortas and horchata I've had. The owner said they are adding some brunch options this weekend like chilaquiles. The portions are really big too!

I got the chile relleno plate and it was so excellent, really exceeded my expectations for a food cart. The indoor seating area is pretty sweet. Don't skip the cucumber lemonade! I came back for tacos and they were also really good.

Went here around 8pm on a Saturday, my partner got the tacos dorados and I got the street tacos. Both of us were really impressed and thought it was super delicious! Great customer service too, we will definitely be back!

Was super stoked to try this place! Ordered the ramen birria, was told it would be out in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later got my order, took it home only to find out that the ramen comes with no meat and an over cooked egg. Was super disappointed that I just got noodles and broth :/

We are visiting from AZ and so glad we found this food truck. We wanted Birria but didn't find many in the area but this one had amazing food, great service and the horchata was so good. I recommend trying the Machete and the Birria Fries ! The consomé is also delicious.

They Killed it on these tacos!!! Their birra is tender and juicy and the consomé, get outta town. Crazy good and rich with deep flavor. Will absolutely be making this my regular place.

Everyone in my family wanted to eat here every day of our trip to Portland after we tried it. The food is delicious, especially the consommé and super tacos. The people working here are great and prices are good.

My taste buds are in heaven! Birrieria Pepe Chile serves up some of the best birria I've ever tasted in just about every way you could think to enjoy it! I tried the quesadilla and the torta and could not recommend them more highly!
