It was a takeout. Reason I have a four for the following reasons 1. For the item ordered it cost 13.00 dollars and small plastic container so small quantity and health any vegetables in it. Portion size small compared to the price. 2. Samosas were good but very small for 2.50 for each samosa. I have purchased samosa for half of the price for a large size. Either lessen the price the price of the samosa for the size you currently have or or increase the quantity to three or make it bigger .

Google
This is the first time my husband and I tried Indian Cuisine. We met with some friends and had a fabulous encounter. We ordered so many delicious items I don't think I can pick a favorite, but if I had to choose, it would be the Butter Chicken or Garlic Naan. Omg, mouth-watering! We will be back because the food was incredible and so was the service. I also really loved the service dishes they use. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. I would recommend checking it, they also seem to do A TON of takeout.

Google
I highly recommend this restaurant for Delicious South Indian food, we have ordered food from this place for few occasions and never been disappointed. The quality of the food is outstanding and flavorful.

Google
Staff was very sweet and friendly. The woman who greeted us and took our order was really kind and helpful and the gentleman cooking brought our food out with a big welcoming smile. Food was delicious with a great selection. We got the puri bread, naan assortment, chicken kebabs, and chicken korma. All were excellent with lots leftover to spare. I thought prices were reasonable/normal.

Google
Good food and affordable price. I bought chicken and goat biryani with chicken Manchurian and sweet lassi. Everything tasted really good except the lassi. I loved the biryani taste with lot of meat and flavor and it was good quality and nice portions. One star less is for the lassi, the worst lassi I ever had. It was not thick and felt like I'm drinking a sweet buttermilk. I saw they had nice dosa dishes, I couldn't try but maybe next time.

Google
i work at the auto shop down the road and this place is my absolute favorite. great people, great food. very affordable. Update 5/20/25 every time I eat here, I feel the need to review because of how fantastic the food is, but unfortunately, Google only allows you to leave one review per business so if you haven’t tried this place yet you need to as soon As possible. You will not find better Indian Cuisine anywhere

Google
The best Indian food I’ve ever had. And the owner/chef is a very nice and accommodating man. I live 70+ miles away and when traveling down to Philadelphia, I stop almost every chance I can at Biryani Bowl in Lansdale for lunch/dinner. Thank you for another 10/10 lunch today!

Kali Shirk

Google
I’ve never had a bad meal here. Order is always ready on time and delivered with a smile.

Yelp
Biryani Bowl is my go-to Indian takeout every time. I usually order the Paneer Biryani and it's a decently sized order. It's very good. I also order the Paneer 65, Vegetable Samosas, Paneer Tikka Masala and other items. The food arrives fresh and hot each time. They also follow any special instructions I have. Good and consistent!
google avatar

Minaz M.

Yelp
Ordered MILD but food had a good kick! The info chinese was giving pretty decent.. enjoyed the fried rice, gobi manchurian, and paneer 65.

Yelp
Best South Indian/ Hyderabadi dum biryani I'm the area. The food is always perfect. I have catered chicken dum biryani from here multiple times and I will probably never order from anywhere else. Chicken 65, cut mirchi, idli/vada, dosas, and tandoori chicken are 10/10. This place is about a 30 minute drive for us and worth it every single time!

Yelp
This review is based on 2 delivery orders. Overall, the curries lacked the cream and richness we are used to so not our favorite spot but a lighter style curry if you prefer that style. Highlights: - garlic naan: a massive piece of naan with tons of garlic. If you typically get 2 orders of naan, 1 should suffice - veggie samosa: perfectly fried and comes with 2 dipping sauces Less enthused: - saag paneer: paneer chunks were good but the sauce felt a bit loose/watery. Just used to a thicker consistency - shrimp curry: was hoping for a creamier curry so probably just not the type of curry we were expecting. Pro tip: even the mild level has a kick so if you like decent level of spice, go with mild

Marissa R.

Yelp
The flavor of the boneless chicken biryani, the texture of the Gobi Manchurian - perfect. Food came out surprisingly quickly, hot and remarkably fresh. Remarkable food, remarkable speed, unremarkable interior design, standard Bollywood soundtrack (not too loud).

Yelp
Parking lot is a bit tight but if you get in, it's so worth it! The menu is extensive and the food is decadent. As if their options weren't authentic enough, they have jeera masala soda & thumbs up imported in and let you top it all off with some kulfi. The dosas are big and crispy and perfect fresh. The biryani options are endless and the chicken dum is cooked so tenderly on the bone, you can chew up the marrows and indulge fully. My new bucket list is this biryani bowl menu!

Yelp
Chicken biryani and masala dosa were amazing!! So flavorful and delicious. The cashier was also very friendly.

Yelp
I've been to Biryani Bowl more than a few times to dine in. Not the fanciest setting but that doesn't bother me none. I come for the delish Indian food. I recommend the butter chicken, mixed grill, butter naan, and shrimp biryani. My guy grabbed takeout yesterday and appreciated the employees' social distancing during this COVID-19 situation.

Yelp
This places lunch buffet is amazing. Every dish is flavorful and the spicy ones are spicy! They don't skimp on their selection and even have a goat curry dish. They've got a large variety of dishes part of their lunch buffet including veggie biryani, chicken biryani, maffa kofta, tandorri chicken, medu vada, two desserts including gulab jamun and a bunch of others. So why the 4 instead of 5 star? I'm a bit peeved by their lack of transparency. I went in a large group and everyone got charged $13.99 for the weekday lunch buffet. I learned later on that it should've been $12.99. Maybe it was gratuity for a larger party, but it should've been made clear.

Yelp
I ordered the following items since I was longing for some variety in my Indian taste palate: * Chef Biryani (Chicken, Goat & Shrimp): Really hard to find a place where you have a medley of all the meats in a biryani. But I can only hope to find something like this in a place that prides itself as the haven for biryanis! Not everyone likes a hotch-potch of meats put together, but it really depends on how it's done and if you're in for a mix-and-match, this is your place. * Lamb Tikka Masala: An alternative to the most popular Indian dish Chicken Tikka Masala with the meat replaced as per the title. Again, not everyone likes the way lamb is served the same way as chicken, but if you're are a fan of Paneer Tikka Masala (a veg substitute for chicken), then you'll surely enjoy this style of lamb. * Chicken Lollipop: Now this was the real "icing on the cake". It's a very popular appetizer commonly served as part of Chinese cuisine in India. Yeah, you heard it! Wonder if it's even that popular in China itself :) It's actually similar to American wings but with more batter, more spice & more puff... It's my personal favorite and my yearn for it grew so strong that I was ready to drive across the county borders to pick it up all the way from Bucks to Montgomery. But the real charm was that I got it delivered even though it was way too far by any delivery standards. I pray that all Indian restaurants have Chicken Lollipop (yum :P)

Yelp
This place is fantastic! They are very kind and professional, the food is always fresh and absolutely outstanding! The Channa masala is so good, I ask for spicy because it makes it that much better! The chicken biryani is so flavorful and hearty. It's very cozy inside. If you've never experienced Indian food, or you're look for an authentic menu, this is the place! Don't pass it up:)

Yelp
Worst..Worst..Worst I am a vegetarian, Ordered Malai Kofta & got chicken Masala. When I am complaining, the owner is talking to me with extreme rudeness. I understand mistake happens but such kind of mistake offering a chicken to vegetarian. And, on top of that he is shouting at me.I will never advise to go this restaurant again. Editing the review to show this restaurant class... Later, They delivered the food at my apartment. But the malai kofta was so spicy no one can eat that. I couldn't eat one single bite. Waste of my money and time. They ruined my Friday evening too. Yelpites - Is there any-forum where I can complain ?

Yelp
Ambiance is not good and some strange smell is there. Food is good indeed. Quality and Quantity is good. Not too expensive. Generously priced. You will feel happy after dining if you love Indian food.

Yelp
Amazing food and I got there all the time. Btw they give 10% off 50 or more. Before covid they used to have buffet can't wait for them to open up. Their goat shuka is the best!!!

Yelp
I ordered a dosa and was thinking I was ordering a samosa. I called and they politely explained that I had it wrong. So I tried something different and it was delicious. I will definitely try other things on the menu. Good food, good service!

Yelp
Absolute TREAT to find this little home cooked delicious restaurant!!!! Googled Indian Restaurants and this came up first!!! We came for lunch buffet and it did not disappoint! Fresh & SO affordable!!! Lovely variety of food and tastes just like Aunty's cooking! So authentic and simple ! Full of flavor and not too spicy for those who can't handle it! Definitely a gem in all the fast food restaurant chains!!! Love small business!!! Will be coming back!

Silvio B.

Yelp
Great Food. Love the curry and naan breads from there. We do takeout. Sometimes portions look small but when your done eating your stuffed.
google avatar

Carlito S.

Yelp
Best Indian food in the 20 mile radius. Real fresh ingredients made from scratch. Their curry chicken is super good and so is their tikka masala. Their naan is fresh from tandoori oven. Will recommend to anyone!

Yelp
We had this place at our office two times. I decided to have it at home and ordered the flat bread which was absolutely delicious which I ate with A very spicy rice dish and delicious shrimps in a curry. Fantastic food. Definitely coming back. You get a kings portion for a queens price. Really great spices.

Yelp
The most delicious Indian food I have ever tasted! Wow, where to begin?? I ordered the fish fry and I'm drooling just thinking about it. It was perfectly spiced with soo much flavor. We also ordered some breads which came with currys. Delicious isn't a strong enough word. This food is absolutely authentic and out of this world. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is because we are in a pandemic, but masks were not enforced in either the kitchen or the counter. Also, the cashiers hair was not tied up, which it should always be when around the kitchen. Regardless, I highly recommend this place when looking to try something new, flavorful or just craving some awesome food.

B P.

Yelp
I have never dined in, always take-out. I wouldn't probably dine in given the state of the dining room. It always feels dark and dirty. The biryani however is my favorite in the area. Not too many South Indian restaurants in the area. So if it's biryani, it's Biryani Bowl.
google avatar

Sally S.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken Marsala and garlic nan. Everything was great- no complaints. Wish they had a lunch special though.

Aubrey M.

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about this place. First, the staff was so kind. The gentleman who took our order was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Second, the food is AMAZING. I highly recommend the butter chicken, vegetable samosas, and the garlic naan. 10 out of 10! If you've never been here, you have to try it! Thank you to the kind staff. We will be back.

Yelp
Great local spot for Indian food - be sure to try the lunch buffet Ambiance: This is a no-frills sit-down restaurant - real silverware and glasses but no white tablecloth. Pleasant - I enjoy the fact that they have Bollywood movies running on the TVs, adds to the atmosphere. Food: The food here is excellent! They have a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes that you'd expect as well as breads/rotis. They also have a display case of cake and desserts. While I've gotten takeout here before, I'd highly recommend the lunch buffet which features 5 or 6 staple dishes, dessert, naan, and of course biryani. As an unsophisticated eater of Indian food, my go to dish here is Chicken Tika-Masala which is oh so tasty! The naan is soft and delicious as well. Buffet has great chicken and vegetarian Biryani. Overall no complaints on the food! A tip - while the default for most dishes is mild you can ask them to make dishes spicy which certainly kicks things up a notch. Dishes with heavy sauces like Tika Masala won't get THAT spicy, but some of the drier dishes can get up there so don't say I didn't warn you! Drink: Biryani Bowl does not have a bar but does offer traditional and ethnic sodas. Service: Service is friendly and hands-off. Seems to be a one-man front of the house most of the times but I don't mind. This is a place to go with friends and enjoy the company, not a place to be waited on by staff. Regardless, the server comes around when needed and is happy to make recommendations on the menu and answer any questions. Value: The individual dinner entrees can be a bit pricy here - we typically spend $15 a person when getting takeout. The lunch buffet, however, is a fantastic deal!

Yelp
Tried the chicken biryani and the butter chicken . The garlic naan was a nice big piece . Very decent portion . Would totally go again!

Yelp
One of the best Biryanis I've ever eaten--a great place for authentic Indian food. Amiable staff. I recommend this place for all Indian food lovers out there.

Josephine M.

Yelp
I have ordered idly, idly batter and vada batter today. I have been eating Idly my entire life as I am not feeling well for the past few days my taste bud wanted some comfort food. It turned out to be worst decision. I have never tasted the worst coconut chutney and idly sambar in my life. same way the vada batter is not fresh it is at least 3-4 days old. when I made vada it gave me sour taste meaning it's old. I made Idly and it came out very flat and not fluffy at all. One request for the owner if you're not able to give quality food please don't give it at all.

Christina M.

Yelp
I decided to stray from my usual Indian spot in doylestown& try this place as it is closer to my new apartment. I ordered 2 dinner entrees & 1 order of naan. I ordered for pickup & sent my husband in to retrieve the food. I was not happy when he came back to the car to tell me the man who handed him the food was not wearing a mask. I find this unacceptable in a food establishment. The food was not up to par with other locations I've tried in the area. The sauce was runny & less flavorful than I'm used to. The naan was still pale & doughy , not nicely browned & warm as it should be. Overall a disappointment. 2 stars because yes it was edible, but will not be back
google avatar

Dan V.

Yelp
Dosas FTW! These crepe like dishes are amazing! I've never had these at any other Indian restaurant. All the dishes have a rich, complex, and rewarding flavor. You can really taste the love!

Vaddi V.

Yelp
This location was good until 2019. Now looks like they lost interest in the business. Ordered couple of items on Mothers day for pickup. They missed Gobi Manchuria, my mother's favorite. They burned all Butter Naan. Whole chicken Biriyani is full of chicken leg pieces (because they are cheapest in grocery store) also it is oily. Goat Curry is uncooked and rubbery. I don't think I am going to order from this place. Switching to Deccan Biriyani on Germantown Pike, Norristown.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
We've been to Biryani Bowl for the lunch buffet and have enjoyed it, but recently we ordered take out. I've never gotten Indian as a take out option before because I liked the variety of the buffet to try new dishes. My husband and I ordered a few different dishes and enjoyed everything that we ordered! The flavor and spice variety of the dishes we ordered were great!
google avatar

Manisha D.

Yelp
The food is very good here. I love the biryani's both lamb and chicken. Recently tried the 'kothu paratha' and i fell in love with it :) Chicken Chettinad is my favorite dish here, super spicy and amazing flavors. This is one place i order food very often. I have dinned in once and wasn't impressed with the decor. I wish it was more cozy and they had more lighting outside. But then eventually its the food that matters more. So this is my place for Indian food in the area. Being so close to indian food, it was very hard for us to find a place that served authentic indian food. I have tried almost all the indian restaurants in this area and by far this is the place that does justice to indian cuisine. Best indian food in Lansdale area!

Krishna P.

Yelp
I have been to wayyyyy better Indian restaurants in this area. Poor service, poor quality, and staff not even friendly. No warm greeting once you walk in, the tables aren't set up, didn't even have water there. Had to ask after sitting there for 15 mins for some water. Food wasn't cooked properly and didn't even have salt. Got like only 3 items and it was almost $40.. got up to the cashier and I skipped the tip section, yet when I looked at my receipt apparently the guy charged me $6/7 tip. My mother said the service wasn't even proper and the "owner" was rude and started laughing. Like the staff and the owner himself weren't professional and all. He joked about how he did all this service so obviously it would "automatically" charged for tip without OUR CONSENT .. apparently. Like they handed us the food and that was about it. Once we paid the guy was jus plain rude. Would NOT recommend this place

Yelp
I've been frequenting this restaurant very often for a few years. I found that it's authentic and completely consistent in quality. What I mean about frequently visiting this restaurant is I have lunch there twice a week, sometimes three times and bringing my wife in on the weekend. The owner is very friendly, very accommodating, the food is just awesome with prices that please too. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Ravneet S.

Yelp
Terrible management. Normal working day with hours showing open and online ordering open. When we reached the restaurant, they had hand written note saying closed today. Would advise everyone to not use there online ordering services.

Ellen N.

Yelp
hands down the BEST Indian food! Authentic and so delicious! My families loves this restaurant. The family that owns it is super friendly and personable. We won't go to any other Indian restaurant - this is the best!
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
Best Indian food in the area. Hands down. Wonderful staff as well., I've never had a bad experience at this restaurant and I couldn't even tell you how many times I've been here.
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
I like both Biryani Bowl and Sultans but the latter is kind of bland! No spice so prob that is why it has so many reviews - for you white people it's great!

Munna S.

Yelp
This place is garbage. Ordered chicken 65 and dosa. Food lacked flavor and spices. Tasted awful. The owner didn't even show appreciation. Customer service is trash. I will not go there anymore.

Yelp
I came here tonight since I have been craving some good authentic Indian food that doesn't taste as if I went to a typical Indian buffet meal (filled with oil, or loaded with butter to substitute natural Indian quality and flavor). Most Indian restaurants in the North Wales/Lansdale area - are average in taste and flavor, so when I saw a bunch of positive reviews for Biryani Bowl I wanted to give it a shot and see if it lived up to the hype based on the positive reviews that were posted. First off the restaurant is a stand alone shop next to Napa Auto on Broad Street. It looks like a family owned business - based on the staff. There was an Indian Uncle and his wife who greeted me. I took a look at the menu - and the first thing I noticed was the ridiculously over priced dishes - I mean who pays $10+ for a dosa, that's insane. I know and have been to quality places that don't charge even close to that. Since it was cold and snowy, I didn't feel like driving any more so I decided to fork out the money and give something a try. I ordered the chicken dum biryani and tomato daal - which came to about $24 and some change. (Holy cow! That better be some really good biryani for that hefty price tag). I waited for my order - which was fairly decent turn around time, only took about 10 minutes to prepare. I handed over $40 cash (and a younger guy who processed my order was a bit unprofessional (was on the phone the entire time) and didn't have the best customer service when handling my business). So that didn't sit well with me, when I am a first time customer. I even asked if he could give some extra raita for the biryani since i noticed the raita portion was in a really small container and would never be enough with the biryani that was packed in a round container. The guy was still on the phone so I decided to wave to the "Uncle" who seemed more friendly and appreciative of my business. (I'm assuming he must be the owner)...who would give me some attention and handle my request more professionally. He was happy to give me the extra two small containers of raita and then I thanked him and was on my way home to try out the food. I opened the food when I got home and was pleased to smell the aromas of what looked like real authentic hyderbadi biryani. I took a bite and holy crap was it spicy!!!! I ordered it to be mild, becase I know true South Indian dishes can be awfully spicy because they use different spices than North Indian food. I am used to eating real typical biryani since I have lived with some South Indians from Andra Pradesh and Hyderabad - so I know the cooking is far different than North Indian cuisine. But I don't enjoy Indian food if all I taste is the heat and less on the actual dish I ordered. I ordered the food mild too, and could barely feel my tongue from all the masala they used to cook the biryani. Thank God I got the extra raitas. All in all, it was okay - not your typical Indian restaurant, so I will say it was better than average, but definitely not my favorite. I will give it one more shot and try their buffet to get a more accurate read on this place. I wish this place was not so greedy when it comes to their prices and tapered down the heat so you can actually enjoy the dish properly. If they are willing to do this I will give this place a 4 star instead of just 3. Good luck and be ready to drink a lot of water or milk with your meal.

Yelp
Very good place for Biryani and Dosa!! Starter was good too! Would definitely go ther
google avatar

Antonio J.

Yelp
Weird area in town, but that's OK. Ordered the Dosa Masala, which was excellent! Comes with the usual broth, but also with 3 nice sauces on the side. They were not stingy with the potato stuffing. Ordered the shrimp biryani. It was delicious too. Lamb curry was good, but warning to the lame eater, it's very spicy and very flavorful, so have to eat it with lots of rice and Naan.

Louis H.

Yelp
This is our go-to spot for takeout Indian food. Very flavorful with ample portions. My wife is unfamiliar with Indian cuisine and can't take spicy hot food, but got the butter chicken and samosa and enjoyed it. Our Vegan son has good choices as well, and they have a good variety for all. Recommended.

Emily R.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash and ask for chicken tikka and got chicken tikka masala. When I called, all I was told was to put notes on the order next time and ask for no sauce. The veggie samosas were good though. Chicken pieces a little tough.
google avatar

Supragya D.

Yelp
This place is close to our place and we have been multiple times.. Food is decent enough.. However customer service is pretty patchy and depends on the day.. The serving time is also pretty average. We were the only one in the restaurant on a Tuesday night. Still it took them like 20 minutes to bring in items that too one at a time..for a family who had ordered multiple items.. It just broke the experience We ordered items from the menu still the items/ preparation was different. So one has to ensure that the server understands the exact order..
google avatar

Sera B.

Yelp
It's hard to find decent, affordable Indian food outside of North Jersey/ NYC. This place has it though. They get 5 stars just for having real dosa. We also got the lamb rogan josh. So good. If I ever get to go back, I would love to try the lunch buffet.
google avatar

Foodie H.

Yelp
Not impressed with the quality. The dum biryani we ordered was colorful rice with no flavors. If you name your restaurant biryani bowl you should hit that recipe out of the park. Lot of people recommended me this place but this may be a miss for me. Will try one more time and see. But 1st experience was not good.

Jaime H.

Yelp
Extremely kind and efficient service, would definitely recommend you try this place out! Currently open for takeout and delivery through DoorDash.
google avatar

Yelp
This was our first time at Biryani bowl. Fantastic dosas, filter coffee and chicken chettinad. And do not miss the chili chicken. Everything tasted delicious and authentic. The chili chicken although not as authentic as the one in Mumbai, was still absolutely delicious! The reason I took off one star, was that the veg biryani that we ordered was dry and not as good as everything else we ate.
