Yelp
Great local spot for Indian food - be sure to try the lunch buffet
Ambiance:
This is a no-frills sit-down restaurant - real silverware and glasses but no white tablecloth. Pleasant - I enjoy the fact that they have Bollywood movies running on the TVs, adds to the atmosphere.
Food:
The food here is excellent! They have a wide variety of traditional Indian dishes that you'd expect as well as breads/rotis. They also have a display case of cake and desserts. While I've gotten takeout here before, I'd highly recommend the lunch buffet which features 5 or 6 staple dishes, dessert, naan, and of course biryani. As an unsophisticated eater of Indian food, my go to dish here is Chicken Tika-Masala which is oh so tasty! The naan is soft and delicious as well. Buffet has great chicken and vegetarian Biryani. Overall no complaints on the food!
A tip - while the default for most dishes is mild you can ask them to make dishes spicy which certainly kicks things up a notch. Dishes with heavy sauces like Tika Masala won't get THAT spicy, but some of the drier dishes can get up there so don't say I didn't warn you!
Drink:
Biryani Bowl does not have a bar but does offer traditional and ethnic sodas.
Service:
Service is friendly and hands-off. Seems to be a one-man front of the house most of the times but I don't mind. This is a place to go with friends and enjoy the company, not a place to be waited on by staff. Regardless, the server comes around when needed and is happy to make recommendations on the menu and answer any questions.
Value:
The individual dinner entrees can be a bit pricy here - we typically spend $15 a person when getting takeout. The lunch buffet, however, is a fantastic deal!
