Coronavirus: the Best Ottawa Restaurants for Take-Out and Delivery | Eater Montreal

"This anchor of Old Chelsea has morphed into a take-out and delivery operation with comforting pub fare like burgers, sandwiches, and fish and chips, plus craft beers to go, although only from Friday to Sunday. Around the corner (and working with the Chelsea Pub), café Biscotti & Cie. is open all week long with coffee, pastries, pizza, and pasta." - Tim Forster

What a treat! Enjoyed a sensational Bianca pizza, followed by a perfect latte and a heavenly caramel banana tart. I was planning on saving a bite of tart for my friend, but I had to have the whole thing; it was too good to stop! I had to get another one for her. When she got back and announced she was full but wanted a taste, she went to have just a bite of her tart and ended up eating the whole thing because it was SO good! The decor is beautiful and welcoming. And this may sound odd, but I love the artwork on the pizza box and latte cup! A lovely, unique touch. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be coming back here!

This café truly has an amazing The interior is filled with vintage tables and chairs, warm-colored walls, and a cozy, nostalgic atmosphere. Outside, there are plenty of seating areas surrounded by beautiful flowers that instantly lift your mood. One of the highlights is how they serve the coffee in ceramic or clay mugs, which perfectly matches the overall aesthetic of the place. Every time I visit, I genuinely feel recharged by the space. It’s a self-service setup: you place your order, pick up your food and drinks, choose your spot, and enjoy. This time, we tried a sandwich with eggs and caramelized onions. It tasted good but was hard to finish. The coffee, however, was absolute amazing! We also had a panini, which was delicious and full of flavor. Just one thing to note: due to how busy it gets, the staff sometimes lose a bit of their patience and friendly vibe. But during quieter hours, they’re much more warm and welcoming. 🌿📸

Great atmosphere, plenty of different seating options inside, and out. Service a little slow.... But it was quite busy. Coffee was pretty good, sandwich and cakes great!

Nice restaurant and friendly staffs. Seating area is clean and relatively quiet. If you order pizza or specialized sandwiches, expect to wait a bit longer because it is freshlymake. The only negative experience about this popular local hangout is there is only two unisex washroom. It seems there are always a line up during peak hours.

Biscotti & Cie is a charming little spot in Chelsea QC. I come here regularly with my family, and the staff is always so friendly. Their cappuccino is my go-to, and it never disappoints. We also tried their wood-fired pizza around noon—it was amazing! A perfect place to relax and enjoy good food. Highly recommend!

Google
This cozy café offers more than just great coffee—it’s a whole vibe. The rustic wooden interior, warm lighting, and eclectic decor create the perfect setting to relax or catch up with friends. Their coffee is rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. A hidden gem worth visiting again and again!

The place looks great, as you can probably tell from the photos. It has a nice vibe, and I really liked the design and decor, everything felt clean and well thought out. I also appreciated the glass water containers with reusable cups at the entrance, a nice little touch. I hear this spot is known for their pizza, but I didn’t get to try it this time. I did notice the wood-fired oven, which looked legit definitely planning to come back for the pizza. When I visited, it wasn’t super busy, maybe 4-5 people in line. But ordering was a bit of a hassle. There were only a few grab-and-go breakfast sandwiches, but the person taking orders didn’t seem to know what was in them and had to ask around a few times. Honestly, a simple label with the name and price would have made things much easier. Unfortunately, my order got mixed up too. I asked for a small decaf and a small regular, but ended up with a medium decaf and a double Americano. On top of that, one of the cup lids didn’t fit properly, and it spilled coffee in my car and burned my hand; not fun. The coffee was hard to drink because the lid kept popping off. I also grabbed a couple of pastries. They were okay, but would’ve been better warmed up. I noticed others were asking for theirs to be heated too. Overall, it felt a bit chaotic for a place that wasn’t even busy at the time. Not the best first experience, but I might give it another shot next time; hopefully for some pizza.

Yelp
Had a great experience stopping in with my friend for a small breakfast. We got the chia seed pudding. They were so good - pear sauce, coconut shavings and strawberries. Delicious. Service was sweet - nice people. The place was very busy - but we were able to get a table. So, it wasn't too bad. It was a bit too cold to sit outside. But maybe next time.

Yelp
Biscotti and Cie is the cutest bakery/cafe I've ever been to. It is located in old Chelsea in Gatineau. Beautiful area itself with an equally as beautiful cafe. Came for a cappuccino and something sweet after lunch. The service was quick and efficient. The baristas were friendly and patient with me as I took some time to decide on a dessert. Not only do they serve tarts, desserts and pastries. They also have sandwiches and small bites as well. The cappuccino was on point and made the traditional way, dry not a lot of milk and a lot of foam. I truly appreciated finally having a real cappuccino. Not a latte masquerading as a cappuccino. The cafe was amazing, service was great and the tart was scrumptious! Worth a visit. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio as well that is pet friendly.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and delicious food. It is a cafe style order and then sit. Lovely staff and lots of options for food and drink.

Yelp
Really cute cafe in Chelsea with delish food and drink, interesting design/lots of seating on the first and second floor and lovely baristas and chefs. Can't go wrong with the ham and cheese croissant or one of their rotating flavours of scones!

Yelp
I love everything about this place , the service, the food, location, scenery, coffee... really one of the best spots i like! Especially in the fall scenery is incredible! We had a grilled chicken panini which was super yummy and the strawberry tart is crunchy and just sweet!

Yelp
Hope you like your coffee super strong! I ordered a cappuccino. To begin with, it was served in the smallest cappuccino cup I've come across and it was so strong and bitter, I swear I could feel it eroding all my internal organs...well maybe not, but it did give me extreme heartburn afterwards. Even after adding a gallon of water to it, it was still bitter. The place is nice, the pastries looked awesome, but it was a complete waste of money. (We had ordered three and it came to 16 something).

Yelp
Great place to have a coffee and a sweet bite to eat. They offer many pastries but also panini sandwiches and salads. They recently added a breakfast menu. It has a few items but the 3 we tried were delicious! All made with local ingredients and with care. The Orange zest on the whipped cream on the waffle was a very nice touch. The interior is cozy and welcoming. In the summer, the patio and lawn offers many more seating options in a relaxing, wooded environment.

Yelp
I like this place. I come here often to study, they have a nice hanging inside floor that is filled with cushions. The vibe gives me very happy all love type. The food and drink are overpriced in my opinion. Surprisingly, they don't have that many vegan options although they do provide dairy free milk alternatives. I have never tried food on the menu, but I have heard that it was good...Just can't put myself to pay that much. Also stuff is not the friendliest and you kind of get a judgy feeling from them. Either way bring your own lunch and go there to study it's a nice vibe

Yelp
Needed a coffee. Did a drive thru of Chelsea and decided to try Biscotti. Glad we did. Décor is cute with a blackboard wall (chalk cow art!), wood and more wood. It's a nice space! Staff were pleasant and attentive. (It appears that perhaps other reviewers feedback have been taken to heart - no sign of the owner, but we still got great service and everything was clean.) ;-) We ordered coffees and a Queen Elizabeth Cake. It was quite different than the QE Cake my mom made, but very enjoyable. Overall prices are what one would expect for a coffee shop and for the area. Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: Yes

Yelp
I love that this place is so close to home for me, I like the food, the drinks, and the price while a little higher than the norm, is well worth it. They have a new cook and a new baker, and I can say I really notice the difference. The girls who work there are lovely, the only reason I knocked off a star was because the service can be slow. This is the perfect place to take a book, sit out, enjoy the sun and a latte.

Yelp
This cafe is nice in general with a good selection of pastries and drinks along with meal items. We returned after having a good experience with their coffee and matcha latte for cappuccinos and it was very disappointing to say the least. There is only one size, $3.75 for 1 espresso shot and $4.75 for 2 espresso shots. As seen in the picture, the amount given is very small, probably only 100 mL, and only half the cup is filled - we asked the cashier about this and she said that's how it's normally served. It was extremely bitter, even for my parents who drink black coffee. You'll need to ask them for sugar as the default is none, luckily the cashier offered us milk and that helped, but she recommended we order their latte instead next time. Overall, the cappuccino is quite overpriced in comparison to the coffee and latte we previously ordered. There is a good amount of seating outdoors with a capacity of about 20 people- mostly in the shade which is nice and fairly distanced.

Yelp
They got everything right with the look and feel of this cafe. It's extremely cute/cool. There are various choices of places to sit, nooks and crannies if you will. I'm a big fan of that in a coffee shop. Plenty of choices for food and coffee. The staff was friendly, the coffee was good and if I was a local, this would be my go to spot. If you find yourself in the area, you must drop in.

Yelp
The maple latte tastes like very basic ice coffee! Pastries m, not bad!Very poor customer service! They received the tip and basically ignored us the whole time!!!!! We were actually shocked at the level of rudeness! Will never go back!

Sylvie P.

Yelp
Rude staff. Long wait with no line. Not sure what the hype is about... about five people behind the counter and no one bothered to say hi or help us. After waiting about ten minutes and not being so much as acknowledged (again, with no line) we left. Disappointing.

Yelp
The environment is nice however the service is really bad. We ordered our drinks and pastry the counter and tipped and sat at our table waiting and waiting for it to be served. Well it didnt happen! Had to go to the counter to get our food and drinks ourselves. Moreover we literally raised our hand or said excuse me 6 times trying to ask for something and we were ignored and walked pass our table everytime! To pack the leftover I had to go back to the counter to get a bag! I am not going back there again or if I do, I'll order take out

Yelp
I went once before the renovations and it was o.k. This time around I went at around 8:30pm. The hours clearly said they were open until 10, so we thought nothing of it until one of the girls working there came to our table at 9:10 telling us they were closed and we had to leave, with no other warnings. Also, I ordered two drinks and two baked goods. They only gave one of the goods and I had to ask for the other one, a blueberry muffin, from another person, because the other was nowhere to be seen. She gave me a bag which we later determined was actually a semi burnt banana muffin. Drinks took excessively long because the staff were all crowded around the one preparing them fooling around. I strongly regret leaving a tip when I prepaid. To top it all off, literally the worst London fog I've ever had. Second cup does it infinitely better. Probably never going back which is a shame because I would love to support local businesses, but bad service is something I can't accept. Renovations look great though.

Yelp
Reasonably good coffee. But likely some of the better coffee available up near Fortune/Chelsea. Pannini was tasty and fresh. And baked treats looked delicious. Been 2 times now. Will be back when I'm passing through or headed to fortune. Lovely warm interior to warm up.

Yelp
A nice option if you have a dog with you since you can eat on the patio or in the yurt during winter. The food was good but the service was very slow and the fire was not lit in the yurt, so it was not as warm and cozy as it could be. Also, several of the chairs in the yurt were broken.

Lloyd C.

Yelp
Very nice place . The staff on the other hand. We sat on the patio where the fire pit was, but no fire. I asked one of the staff if there was anyone that could start one for us. As she had a line up, she asked a few of the others staff if they could start the fire and they all refused. So I went out to start the fire for my wife and I. As I approached the pit a perfect gentleman by the name of Shawn who was the cook was lighting a fire. What a nice guy. He even came back to see if we wanted more wood put on the fire. The rest of the staff never even acknowledged that we were there. I swore I would never return. If it wasnt for Shawn, I would still feel that way. THANK YOU SHAWN for making our evening wonderful.

Val C.

Yelp
This place is really cute and had great coffee. The dessert I had was a bit sweet for me but while I was there it seemed that people really love the savoury aspects of the menu so I would definitely check that out next time I visit!

Yelp
A great place on the way to the Gatineau Hills. Warm atmosphere and friendly staff. It is also a good place for locals to hang out and come in for a coffee--which I do on a regular basis as I live in Chelsea. The food is delicious but they have a tendency of running out of their sandwiches, scones et c. on a regular basis. Maybe running out of food isn't such a bad thing as it means that their food is excellent (which it is) and that it is going to be very fresh (which it is). If you do manage to find something to eat here, their panini are excellent and their cakes and scones are wonderful. They make their own desserts and they have a homemade taste. A great verandah to sit outside in warmer seasons. This is a place that is well-taken care of by the staff and anyone that comes here seems to feel as though they are taking care of this mini-institution in their own way too simply by feeling at home.

Ivy G.

Yelp
The restaurant is really cute on the inside and has a nice ambience, but the food wasn't anything special. I got the ham, bechamel, egg tarting and it came out cold and super bland. I recommend coming here for a beverage and an Instagram post but maybe eat elsewhere.

Natasha D.

Yelp
Currently enjoying a coffee and cheese cake after my hike. This is the cutest coffee shop and has beautiful plants and trees surrounding the building. It's 3pm on a Monday and quite busy and does not have enough seating for everyone who's here. The cheese cake was amazing and the coffee was not bad either. Pretty impressed with everything this cafe has to offer.

Whale T.

Yelp
The Biscotti and Cie is not my favorite place to eat. We got there and I ordered a waffle and they told me that they were not serving breakfast anymore. I was confused by this because they had one more waffle in the display case. The food was not amazing but the place was beautiful.

dl f.

Yelp
Biscotti presents a pleasant environment. Food is o.k Service uneven. When owner is not there, servie is poor. Please give option of panini only without salad. Why pay for salad when you don't want it. Waitress says that not giving option is a way to charge more for the panini. Paninis usually cost $5. at this place $11. Much too expensive for quality. Lots of bread but little cheese or vegies. Patio could could be cleaned at the back. Dirty boxes on the patio is not very appetizing. Thank you Diane
