Long wait for food and it was not busy. Service left a lot to be desired. The karaoke was live and so fun. When the food did arrive it was delicious and huge portions. Not real creamer for the coffee just powdered. Will try it again.

We came here on a Thursday night just looking for good food because of reviews. We ended up getting way more than we expected . Thursdays here had an open mic and poetry night called Love & Lyrics. When I tell you the vibe here was the best I've seen in a while, I can not overstate how much fun we had. The food was amazing ( I absolutely loved the catfish and grits), and the drinks were strong, which I love. But a nice crowd started pouring in for the open mic night, and Love & Lyrics began. From the opening poetry readings by the hostess, to a live poetry Q&A, R&B, Comedy, Rap, and poetry readings by special guest poets. It's simply amazing. The vibe was one of community, friendship, a place for your truth, a place for discovery.

Nice spot in downtown Pontiac. The food was delicious. We ordered chicken omelet, the steak and eggs, and side of cheese grits. Everything was great. I really enjoyed the steak. We didn't tried the drinks, the prices were a little more then I wanted to spend, for a drink. Also, for a brunch spot, I think they should offer a mimosa. Just a suggestion.

Nice atmosphere and music, good service, food presentation was great however the food lacked flavor. Salmon bites not as expected, more like a tuna deep fried ball. Cheesy grits need a little more cheese throughout not just sprinkled on top. Grits topped with fried catfish fillet that was fried to perfection but again lacked seasoning. My friend chose the po-boy, this had a spicy sauce that he said was very good. Not a horrible experience but wish it was a little more flavorful, worth checking out though.

Read some of the negative reviews, but decided to take a chance. I have no regrets. The catfish and grits were perfect. The service wasn't the fastest, but I wouldn't call it slow either. I can see how they may struggle with a packed house, however. The live music was a surprise and a huge plus. The food didn't take a long time to prepare, it came out hot and was cooked to order. Give it a chance, we will definitely be back in the future.

I decided to try this place our since it was new and I heard mixed reviews. It was early and rainy so there wasn't many people there so we were able to seated quickly. We start with biscuits with a bourbon sauce. The biscuits were not traditional but they were good. I like the sauce, but as many others has said, it would be best on some meat. I ordered chicken and cakes. My pancakes were good, I ordered white meat. The chicken could have used a little more seasoning but it wasn't dry which is good for white meat. My husband ordered the catfish and grits. He said the catfish was good and flaky. ..but them grits!!! Baby!!! They tasted amazing! They were velvety and full of flavor! That smoked gouda cheese!!! My mom ordered the French toast and beef bacon. The bacon was cooked too much. We didn't send it back, it wasn't all over cooked. We ordered the black tea also. It was a good experience and we definitely will return.

I must say I wasn't sure what to expect. This place exceeded my expectations. Food was on point (Well seasoned). A lot of poultry alternative products. Had 2 different flavors of Mimosas that were good. To top it off, are server Patricia offered us wonderful service!

It was my first time stopping in. Food was great. The bartender Eric was phenomenal in handling the rush that occurred at 12:45p to 1:21p today. I congratulate him staying patient and handling the rush himself with poise. He was kind and very polite.

Yelp
My friends and I are always looking for new brunch places to try. So when someone recommended this place we had made plans to give it a try. On Saturdays we found out that they have $5 mimosas and karaoke. Well when we arrived the place was nearly empty but the DJ was playing good music so we stayed. We sat at the bar and quickly found out that the bartender was the only waitress for the whole restaurant. Thankfully it wasn't busy. I opted to order the steak omelette and the silver dollar pancakes. The omelette was very delicious and the steak was tender. The pancakes were nice and fluffy with crispy edges just the way I like them. My friends said that their food was good also. We all started that we will return soon to try more items on the menu.

Yelp
Scam business. Waited an hour over expected 15-minute wait for a pick-up order, and they claimed they "didn't get an order" and wouldn't answer the phone as I attempted to check on the progress. All of the food was cold and tasted stale. The biscuits (of all things) tasted fermented. Waitress/bartender was yelling and swearing at chefs. Don't fall for their presentation. Unfortunate because it has the potential to be a really cool, hidden-gem spot.

Yelp
The service was pretty decent for a busy Sunday morning. Our server was very pleasant even when she got busy. The food was just ok however. I was not blown away by any of it. But it was solid for breakfast. The drinks were not so great and for a place that has Bourbon in it's name, I expected more choices for bourbon drinks and certainly great execution. The ambiance was lively and spacious. Felt like a diner vibe. It was pretty far for me so I probably won't go back but if you are in the area you should go.

Yelp
Today was my second and probably last time visiting unfortunately. I really like the concept and even the location. The food is hit or miss. I love the catfish & grits (although on the expensive side as is everything). But the wait is absolutely egregious. One hour for a carryout for one person is unacceptable. The server/bartender felt so bad that she gave me and another person waiting a free shot of tequila. Smh I hope it gets better before it's too late.

Yelp
So good I forgot the picture. Catfish and grits were fantastic I will be returning. Service was wonderful.

Yelp
Stopped in a weekday which was very slow. There's not a lot going on in downtown Pontiac on a Wednesday so I understood. Since we were the only table there; our service was great but the food was also very tasty.

Yelp
I had an amazing girls brunch at this black owned establishment. Went on a Saturday around 2 PM and it was not to crowded, I think we had just missed the breakfast crowd and was ahead of the late lunch/dinner crowd so perfect timing. Requested seating for seven and was told there would be a 15 minute wait which was pretty impressive to me because usually large groups have to wait forever for a table. While we waited for our table we sat at the bar. We sat there for about 15 minutes before anyone asked if we needed help, with several bartenders walking back and forth and stepping away from bar without acknowledging us. Somebody finally asked and we ordered mimosas , blueberry and mango. I've never had a blueberry mimosa and was excited to try it but he added way to much blueberry to it and it wasn't very good. My friend said it tasted like cough syrup to her. Second round we tried the mango mimosa and it was very good. I ordered catfish and grits with cheese and it was so bomb. The catfish was hot, crispy and cooked to perfection and the grits were seasoned and cooked perfectly. We had ordered appetizers but they did not come until after our food which is not how that is supposed to work but I digress. For my appetizer I ordered the salmon croquette bites , and my companions ordered the bourbons glazed chicken bites and biscuits. The salmon bites were delicious and I loved the dipping sauce the came with. The chicken bites were okay, we were expecting them to be fried but they were grilled and coated in a bourbon sauce. They also came with a biscuit and we ordered additional biscuits. Now for the biscuits......for biscuit to be in the name of the establishment these were TERRIBLE. Probably some of the worst I've ever had. The looked and had the texture of a doughnut hole almost and were coated in the same bourbon sauce as the chicken bites, which was on the savory side. Nobody finished them and I believe I only had one or two bites of mine. They definitely need to rework that recipe, especially since they are called BISCUITS and bourbon. Other than that though the food, drinks and vibes were very good and I'd probably make the trek out to Pontiac again to try some of their other items!

Yelp
My siblings and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after seeing multiple tik tok posts. There is limited street parking which is shared with other businesses. This wasn't an issue on Sunday since the other businesses were closed but I can see this being a problem during the week. We started with the bourbon glazed biscuits and chicken bites. I think we all expected the biscuits to be sweet but they were savory. The glaze was the same as what's on the chicken bites. It reminded me of a teriyaki sauce. The chicken bites were delicious. For entrees we got the catfish and cheese grits and the chicken and cakes. The grits were very dry and lumpy. The bowl was full of grits and there was a small piece of fish on top. The catfish was seasoned very well but the portion was small. The chicken wings were just ok. The pancakes were good but nothing spectacular. Once we found out who our server was(after a 10 min wait) service was underwhelming. We had to ask for everything. There's no condiments on the table and the waitress didn't ask if we wanted anything when bringing out our food. Our glasses were empty and she never offered to refill. We had to ask. Overall, I hope during this soft opening they work out the issues but I won't be back.

Yelp
My company was setting up a Photo Booth upstairs, and i noticed Biscuits and Bourbon as i was loading in. The place smelled great and I was hungry so I told myself when I was done setting up, I'd go downstairs and get some food. To my joy, the place was clean and inviting. I sat at the bar where Rondah took care of me and she was awesome! I got their chicken sandwich and damn was it good as i cleared my plate. Tasted like something id make at home which i loved. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
A few ladies and I went over Nov 23, 2024. It took a while for me to write this review. When we walked in we seated ourselves, and waited in the (only) one waitress that was there serving all tables, now it wasn't that busy a few people at the bar, I believe one was the owner. We place orders for the mimosas, the first ones were good, but the next round was simple the juice ( as though we would not taste the difference) Needless to say we ordered no more. Awaiting for our food, the plates did not all come out at the same time (unacceptable) while the other two waited on their food. I had the shrimp & Grits the shrimp were small and over cooked! the grits were too salty. Finally the other two plates came, over cooked steaks, seemly powered eggs. We were not please or impressed at all. The waitress was not friendly no humor, no smile just there. She made sure to let us know if we pay by card there is interest charge for using your Credit card! wow! that was a shock, they add your Gratuity to each check regardless. (Beware). I decided to pay cash which we all did! We all decided we will not return. It seems to be a money grab, bad food, poor service and cheap products. We were not Happy with the food taste, quality at all, guess we expected better considering the name of the place. No compare to the Biscuits and Bourbon in NV.

Yelp
I was checking on my friends dogs in the area and decided I wanted to try somewhere new and this was close and sounded good. The food tasted good. That was the best thing about this place. But sadly I will never return. I was going to give 2 stars then I got my bill.... THE PRICE FOR THE PROPORTION IS INSANE! $12 for 2 itty bitty spring rolls and $6 for 3 "biscuits" (more like little beignet donuts) and the worst part THEY CHARGE FOR REFILLS ON COFFEE and don't tell you that. What place charges for coffee refills?! My entire bill for everything in the picture below was $28!!!! That's insane! I go to a lot of brunch and breakfast spots all over the place and I have no problem paying for good food but this was insanely overpriced. If I'm paying that much I should be taking food home. Oh and they add an 18% gratuity on EVERY bill. I hate when places do this. I would have tipped you a lot better most likely. Although maybe it's because they don't have the best service. The service was just ok. I was seated and then left for awhile. Finally someone came and took my order. She wasn't mean but just kind of hey I'm here type attitude. None of the servers looks particularly happy to be there. One other server checked on me right at the end asking if anyone helped me. A shame bcuz the food tasted great but not $28 great. Also if you're charging that much use toothpicks or something better than broken skewers. Talk about off putting.

Yelp
I brought my mom for mother's day and we absolutely loved it The biscuits were amazing and the food was phenomenal we definitely will be back

Yelp
Me and my Sister were so happy to find this restaurant, the food was amazing. I had Catfish and Cheese Grits and my Sister had Eggs, Grits, and Pancakes. The service was personable with a short waiting time and the restaurant was very clean. Although it's 45 minutes away I will defiantly go back real soon.

Yelp
I'm giving this restaurant two stars, only because I feel like it has potential. I went last Sunday, and the restaurant itself was packed with people. I was told by the hostess that the food was around a two hour wait! First off on a Sunday, they should anticipate the church and brunch crowd because well.....it's Sunday. She told me because it was a carry out that they would most likely put a rush on it, so that's the only reason why I waited. I ended up waiting an hour and 45 minutes. While I was there, I had a mimosa, and when my food was finally brought to me, I said I should not be charged for this Mamosa after waiting almost 2 hours for a carry out, my server agreed. That was not communicated and one of the waiters came running out to me saying I didn't pay for my drink. I had the shrimp and catfish Poboy sandwich, and my fiancé had grits and the breakfast quesadilla, the Poboy sandwich was actually really good, so I went back Wednesday for another, totally different sandwich this time and it had cheese on it which was not good at all and I could taste the taste of dirty oil they have been fried in. They ran out of potatoes, so I couldn't get the chips with it, and offered me macaroni and cheese, the macaroni and cheese is bitter, and not good at all too much sharp cheddar used. This restaurant has good potential. But first of all food consistency is the most important and time management which they are lacking.

Yasmine S.

Yelp
Believe the bad reviews!!! You are better off going to Coney Island for a carry out breakfast container. They supposed to open at 10:00 the door was still locked. There is no one to greet customers at the front door to be seated so we stood there for 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. About five minutes to get menus and water another 45 minutes for two ppl to receive two plates. Waitress never came back to check to see did we need anything. The food was gross! Catfish did not taste like catfish. We order two sodas which were sent back because they taste like water. The best thing we had the out glasses of water. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! And the whole time we trying to enjoy our food all you hear is yelling from the kitchen. This place is ridiculous and to be honest needs to just go ahead and close because the OWNER cannot CARE....

Yelp
I really wanted this to be great experience. Unfortunately, it was not. Nothing on the food side lived up to expectations. The interior was nice, and the service team tried their best. The food took nearly an hour, and it was not worth the wait. I will not visit this establishment again.

Yelp
Such a cool place! Great food and the historic building it is in provides a special flare to such a unique restaurant.

Yelp
Bad service and food was mediocre. We waited 45 minutes while was fine. But another15 at the table waiting on service

Yelp
Food is delicious and very nice comfortable ambiance. Service is a little slow and servers are not attentive. Has to wave down server to request cream and coffee refill. Service is definitely not worth the automatic 20% gratuity added to your bill. It's not worth 2%. However, I will try again to see if that was a one-off. Love supporting black owned but also expect level of service being paid.

Chuck L.

Yelp
fantastic burger, no soup or fries. Chicken a little tough. slow but new! Try it and I think you will like it!

Paula A.

Yelp
If I could rate "0", I would. Although the location/atmosphere was excellent, the food and comedy (or lack of) was horrendous. The taste, seasoning, portion size was less than desirable. The "comedy show" that I dropped another $$ was a joke. I could do better in my garage!!

Emmalee P.

Yelp
Took one hour to receive just the drinks and we had to go to the bar ourselves to get them. Food was okay and ambiance was mediocre. 18% tip added to EVERY check. Would not recommend.

Marcus J.

Yelp
Dominque is the best! First time here. Very satisfied. Gonna tell all my friends about this place. Definitely coming back!

David W.

Yelp
Back in Michigan again and found Biscuits and Bourbon. Thought kind of odd combo lets give it a try. Our server Ca'leena was a real treat...attentive, well versed with the menu and very patient with our indecisiveness. I finally settled on the Catfish and grits and Elijah Craig Single Barrel Bourbon. When in Rome right? The place is located in the historic Strand Theater and I will add this to my top places to visit again when I get back in town.

Julie B.

Yelp
The chicken b&b quesadilla was delicious! We visited early on Saturday for brunch, the cocktails were pricy (some around $18 each) but we got bloody Mary's for $12 - decent amount of spice & loaded with olives. Husband's biscuits & gravy could have been a lot warmer when served. But the interior is very nicely done & I like that they include an 18% gratuity automatically on the bill to insure the servers receive a decent wage. I got the impression they're ironing out some wrinkles still, but not sure if that's just because we arrived only 30 minutes after opening, or because they've only been in business a few month so far. Definitely plan to go back for a date night & maybe try one of the burgers or chicken sandwich.

Lakeeya B.

Yelp
I had such high expectations for this restaurant. Sat at the bar and received thee worst customer service. So of course I ordered the bourbon glazed biscuits and salmon croquette bites. Maybe 15mins or so later the server says they don't have it but would I like plain biscuits no ma'am. Then she asked do I still want the salmon I say yes. As I'm sitting there I say to myself they don't have any bourbon sauce. How does your restaurant name have Bourbon in it and you have no bourbon sauce. IT'S THE STAPLE OF THIS PLACE!! My grits and catfish was very good. My husband's food had hair in it so he just sent it back. Overall I was not impressed.

Kimora W.

Yelp
Very very slow hostess was terrible and did not know how to seat people properly, no interaction from staff horrible

Bette D.

Yelp
After seeing Biscuits and Bourbon featured on the news we decided to give it a try and so glad we did. We are elderly and eat early so when we arrived it wasn't too busy. We walked into an immaculate bright space and were greeted and seated immediately. We tried several items on the menu including the biscuits. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. I'm a little OCD and noticed that when the waiter put a caddy on the table with condiments I couldn't help but notice how clean and shiny everything was, including the caddy itself. The menu is so different from others I've seen and ranges from ribs and hamburgers to quesadillas, and eggs rolls and fried rice. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner items to choose. We also tried their homemade chips that melted in my mouth and finally the peach cobbler. A peach cobbler like no other. I wish I had another word for delicious. On a side note we live in Waterford and when we are looking for a different place to eat we usually drive to West Bloomfield and that area and not Pontiac. Pontiac is growing and improving and if we all want to make the world a better place in which to live, we have to support these young entrepreneurs who are working their tails off to show their children what hard work and dedication can do. I never felt so welcomed in a restaurant. Give them a try! Peter and Bette Duprey
