Bistecca Wood Fire Steakhouse

Given Portland's other tried and true steak houses, we wanted to give this newcomer a try. Two of us ordered the NY Strip steak which came out cold. We also ordered the fillet and burger which were ok. We also ordered two salads, grilled potatoes and kale. The kale as overcooked. The salads and potatoes were good. Service was friendly. The atmosphere a bit loud and not conducive to intimate conversation.

From the moment we walked in and saw the open flames of the kitchen, I knew this meal was going to be something special but it still exceeded every expectation. We started with oysters on the half shell, easily the best oysters I’ve ever had in my life. They weren’t served with the usual lemon or hot sauce, but they didn’t need it because the natural flavors were absolutely perfect. Next came the foie gras torchon, which I honestly anticipated I wouldn’t enjoy since I’m not usually a fan of liver. To my surprise, it ended up being one of the best things I’ve ever tasted, rich, decadent, and unforgettable. We also tried the caviar and onion dip. While delicious, I felt the onion dip slightly overpowered the caviar, but it was still a creative and tasty dish. The seasonal salad of watermelon, nectarines, tomato, cucumber, and ricotta was another highlight with flavors that were fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. For entrées, we shared the porterhouse for two and the lobster thermidor, both cooked to absolute perfection. The tableside presentation of the porterhouse was unforgettable when the chef came out, lit rosemary on fire, and seared the steak right at our table. The aroma, the showmanship, and the flavor all came together for a truly memorable experience. The sides of Italian elote and Roman beans were equally fantastic, and every cocktail was crafted with care. Definitely recommend the tiramisu as well. It was decedent and complimented our dining experience. Our server Fiona made the experience even better with her attentive service and spot-on recommendations. She suggested items we loved, including a couple of off-menu drinks that were spectacular. This was hands down the best meal I’ve ever had. You can feel the love and artistry put into every dish, with flavor pairings that surprise you in the best way, like little explosions of creativity with each bite. The combination of incredible food, excellent service, and a lively fire-lit atmosphere makes Bistecca a must-visit. I will absolutely be coming back and recommending it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

Google
beautiful restaurant with a nice large patio, serving fantastic food with friendly and very attentive service. Our steaks were cooked to perfection (I had the Rib Eye and it was large, easily shareable). It’s a pricey spot but worth every dollar for special occasions. The sliced potatoes were spectacular, salads on point, and scallops with mushrooms were delish. Excellent cocktails and a nice wine list too!

Google
Below average food. Portions are small and poorly prepared. High prices ($350+) for low execution. We were encouraged to order our steaks as medium because they say they cook on the rare side. Both steaks were well done. Bland and tasteless salad. Steak tartare was also bland and served room temperature to warm. There are so many better options. The wait staff was very nice but poorly trained, and seemed stressed out, and I mean all of them …as the manager seemed to be engaging them constantly. Overall, a subpar experience.

Google
Such good food. Great staff. The open fire does create a lot of HEAT in the entire restaurant. I was sweating the entire time. So bring a fan? The cocktails are good. The crab cakes were smaller than a hush puppy. So be prepared.

Google
So far my favorite steak house, the uniqueness of the way its cook leave you in ah after every bite, when it just melts in your mouth. The sides and appetizers were absolutely amazing! It makes you want to try everything on the menu and you should. Non alcoholic beverages were tasty and the service from beginning to end was outstanding.

Google
Wonderful experience at Bistecca. Lively atmosphere, all staff were inviting, attentive and genuine. All of our dishes were beautifully prepared and delicious. Highlights of our meal were my La Festa mocktail, the tartare (perfection), and the smoky trumpet mushrooms on the scallop dish. We finished with the spumoni souffle, which was divine. Thank you Bistecca for a memorable meal.

Google
Our server was really great and attentive. It made dining here incredibly enjoyable. I've always loved the area around this restaurant. I think I just personally made a wrong move on the entree, I want to return to try the fillet. My -1 star is because over half the cost of the meal was spent on a dish that I thought was just ok (the steak). Happy hour notes: - 3 dollar oysters - snacks / sides are 1 dollar off --- starters --- Insalata de casa ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ - loved all the different vegetables here - the cheese is amazing - you really have to get all the ingredients together Yellowtail Crudo ⭐⭐⭐ - didn't love the bitterness of the grapefruit, it didn't do much to the taste to warrant it - wouldn't reorder but the fish was soft and if you love grapefruit get it --- sides --- Grilled mushrooms ⭐⭐✨ - too chewy for me, but good flavor Grilled broccolini ⭐⭐⭐ - what you'd expect but a cool take because it has marinara sauce --- entrees --- ❤️The burger ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - only 10 made per evening - worth honestly, was 48 dollars but it felt worthy of it - tender and juicy - loved eating it with the sauce from bistecca Bistecca fiorentina ⭐⭐⭐✨ - just ok to me, but solid and would recommend mostly for the sauce - one side was way too chewy for me, but one side melted - so super mixed feelings frankly - appreciated the truffle salt - was a good amount of steak for sure, we could easily feed several people and it cost $160 - I can't help but think the fillet might be better --- dessert --- Zabaglione ⭐⭐⭐✨ - liked the fruits a ton - loved the boozy taste to it - little too saccharine to me, but totally acknowledge this is a personal issue, I noticed on yelp folks were loving this

Yelp
I'd never heard of this place, so when our friends invited us on a double date night, I readily accepted. It's in a great area, vibrant and clean, with a covered outdoor dining area and very safe feeling. We were greeted warmly by staff and taken to our table after checking in for our reservation. The restaurant itself is lovely, modern and elegant. Love the open kitchen with the wood fire grill being the centerpiece. We enjoyed watching all of the steaks get cooked. Some of those pieces of meat were HUGE! I ordered my filet medium well and it came out perfectly cooked. I prefer my steak well done (I know), but most places just turn it into a hockey puck of charcoal, so I've started to order medium well and hope it's closer to well done than medium. This steak was so flavorful and still perfectly juicy and tender. The mushrooms were fantastic as well. My husband ordered the NY steak which he deemed excellent, as well as the mashed potato's which he only allowed me to share a teeny tiny forkful of. My only downside to this place was that the wait was LONG. Yes, the menu says to allow 45 min for your steak so that it can rest after cooking. Our food easily took 65 min or more after ordering to arrive at our table. Even some tables outside that ordered after us got their food first (we were the first seating of the evening and ordered before anyone else). I would go back to give it another go, but definitely have a snack beforehand. Oh, and no kids were anywhere to be found in the restaurant, and no complaints came from me (a mother of two).

Yelp
Nothing extraordinary. A lot of noise. Service was ok and food was ok. The price was a bit high, but we were there to celebrate a birthday

Yelp
There was a nice selection of steaks and accompanying sauces. A server comes by after the steaks arrived with an array of tasting salts which was a nice touch. The pinot noir and tosemary salts were an excellent addition to the meat. There are warnings on the menu about the cooking times (40-60 minutes with resting time for medium rare) so plan your time wisely. The Yukon potatoes were tenser to the touch with a very good rosemary flavor to enhance the side dish. We really liked them. All the members of the serving team were friendly, professional, and gave fantastic service. Everything you expect from an upscale steak house. The biggest flaw I was with the restaurant may seem like a small thing to many but to me, really kills the upscale ambiance. The table next to us ordered a soda. It was served in the can with a glass of ice. When an entree is priced at $60-100+, soda shouldn't be served in a can to the guest. It looks so cheap to put a soda can on the table and the guest has to pour it themselves. It isn't even an illusion of a fountain drink. I would expect it at a strip mall cafe but not a high end steakhouse. I understand not wanting to install an entire beverage fountain system but at least pour the soda at the station in a large enough glass to accommodate the entire can.

Yelp
The wood fired steak was delicious. The service was subpar. Completely inattentive staff members. Who serves a whole head of romaine lettuce (the grilled Caesar Salad) family style with two serving spoons and no knife to cut it up? Zero waitstaff were available after delivery of the salad to ask for a knife. That was a consistent theme through our meal. Given the very high prices that appear on the menu, I expected wayyyyyy more attentiveness and effort. Yes the food is good. The creamy mashed potatoes delicious. The asparagus also delicious. The dessert menu spartan and a spumoni soufflé? A bridge too far. Underwhelmed by the experience and won't be back.

Yelp
If there were a lower score option, I would absolutely choose it--my experience there was unbelievably horrible. We were abruptly asked to leave, with the excuse that they could only serve us for a maximum of 2 hours. This is certainly rude and absurd, especially for a steakhouse. We were never informed of this rule when we made the reservation over the phone, nor did anyone remind us upon arrival. It's ridiculous and unacceptable; they insisted multiple times, leading to an argument with the manager, whose name is "Mo." Is this how you treat your customers? In the end, we had to leave feeling frustrated and angry. Well done, Mo. The worst part? The table next to us had been there since happy hour--so why weren't they asked to finish their meal on time or leave? Needless to say, we are adding this place to our "never again, never recommend" list.

Yelp
Probably one of the best steak houses I've been to in portland. The food is always on point. The ambiance is magical. The service is stellar. The menu feature a great variety for all palettes. We have made this our go to for date night (without kids). I highly recommend trying out this delicious gem!

Yelp
Came as a party of four and we all left happy and full! We were able to try a ton of things and our favorites were the tartare, lobster and prawn rolls, the steak (forgot which one we ordered), pomme frit, and scallops! Everything was cooked to perfection. If you're in the moood to try something different, the Parmesan martini was shockingly delicious. Big shoutout to our server Natani though, she was so helpful in menu decisions and provided excellent customer service!

Mark K.

Yelp
Where do I start? A steakhouse that can't do steak! A DREADFUL meal. First, so-as to not sound completely negative, their Caesar salad and deserts (notably the Zabaglione) were good. However, the Wagyu beef was downright bad... tough meat (difficult to cut) and not properly cooked per request. This was also true for the couple dining with us. What did the friendly waitress say about it all? "Oh, sorry." My wife just didn't want to complain so we paid the bill (after it had to be corrected twice). If we didn't have to go to the theater I might have demanded to speak with a manager and send all the beef back. Finally, although we were some of first people in the place (5pm) it took well over an hour to receive our mains. Live and learn... never again. Side-note (not unique to this restaurant): these "4% health and wellness" add-ons just need to go away. PAY your people more!

Yelp
Chef Gabe is at it again with some stellar food! Loved the filet on the hot skillet - protip: order it one level lower than you like your steak because it'll keep cooking on the hot skillet! Enjoyed the lobster rolls, the potatoes, but you can skip the bread. It wasn't anything special. If he nails the bread service with some fresh warm bread, this restaurant would totally get 5 stars! Ambiance was a nice, a little more fancy than Mama bird. I still miss Mama bird's 1/4 chicken, sweet potatoes, and choc chip cookie! Hopefully he adds that to the menu in the future. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Food - Really good! The oysters are AMAZING! Steak is done RIGHT Cocktails - Avoid the Parmesan martini..everything else was yummy Service - FABULOUS. Can't say enough nice things Ambiance - Lively, not too loud, kid friendly, but also a nice sexy vibe for date night Just be ready to $$$$$pend

Yelp
I was excited to go to this place after it switched from mama bird (one of my favorite places around here). I have to say I was quite disappointed. I don't think the food or service lived up to the expensive cost of the meal. We split a 14 oz NY strip steak, a Caesar salad, had one glass of wine and a cider and even went during happy hour and it was over $120. $70 for a NY strip with no included sides or even sauces is a little absurd. I am used to dining at nice places in Portland but this was not that. Also it took about an hour from ordering to getting our steak and no one even acknowledged the long wait or poor service. The only redeeming quality was the salad was good. All in all a disappointing and way too expensive meal.

Yelp
Oof more like 2 stars. A steakhouse that does not how to prepare a steak. Such a waste. Table for 4. 4 New Yorks ordered. Three med rare, 1medium. My med rare and my friends med rare both came back well done plus. The third med rare was medium plus. The medium came back rare. Two of my friends were able to exchange and eat while me and friend sent it back. Took forever. Our companions finished their meal. All the sides were eaten. By the time steaks finally came dinner was basically over. They kept saying "thanks for letting us making this right". They gave us a 10 dollar dessert. FYI. You didn't make it right. Perhaps going back to cooking school and spend some time on basic grilling might make it right. I did reach out and sent a message about how dissatisfied I was. No response. Shocked. Maybe they are still busy cooking my steak. Edited a couple days later. I forgot to add that after finally getting the now undercooked steak they asked us to vacate the table. Hysterical. Make us wait then "hurry up and go" and still the management is silent. Given the similar reports, I assume they are busy answering other customer complaints. Or still cooking my steak. One or the other.

Christine R.

Yelp
We stopped in on a Tuesday night. Was a great night. Few tables seated when we got arrived. The wine selection was great. My boyfriend had a wagu steak. I choose the burger. The burgers are only make10 per night. Busy night might sell out fast. If you go I highly recommend it. I look forward to going back and enjoying it again. The service was above all outstanding.

Yelp
The service was great! All their apps sounded so good, we got the burrata and the steak tartare, both were so good! The burger, absolutely delicious! We definitely want to go again and save some room for dessert.

Yelp
Service, ambience, and food, fantastic! Will definitely return. Bistecca was a wonderful surprise. No reservations, we got seated righ away. The hostess went over the menu and Immediately our server brought water. The bread, the salad, the steak the drinks everything was flavorful and delicious

Yelp
One of the best memories of my entire life was the month I spent in Florence, Italy with my wife after we graduated college. We had a little apartment on the Arno, mere steps from the Ponte Vecchio. Down an alley behind our apartment building was a little bistro that seemed unknown to the tourists. It was tiny, and just a handful of locals showed up their every day. It was their we discovered bistecca a la fiorentina, the most amazing steak I have ever had in my life, cooked over an olive wood fire. I really hoped Bistecca would come close to that experience. The waiter was charming, the atmosphere was nice, but the steak itself was meh, just ok.

Yelp
If you are looking for something for a different steak house in Portland, you must try Bistecca in NW Portland! Nestled in a great neighborhood location, this warm and inviting newly renovated location is a must try. The front of the house staff was so welcoming and personable. Jordan our service member was da bomb! He was spot on with his recommendations, advice and engaging. Could not have asked for a friendlier crew! The food was so delicious from our drinks ( try the " Smooth Operator" and " Old Fashion" oh so smooth and just what we needed after. A long Monday work day! Steaks ( had the New York) which was cooked to perfection. The flavored salt was a true new touch, and enhanced the beautiful flavors we were already experiencing. The additions of the Hasselback potatoes, grilled peppers, I Samara de casa all augmented the great evening. The vibe was very upbeat and energetic which again was appreciated. Gabriel the owner made the evening by connecting with the guests in the restaurant which was very genuine and appreciated. The simple additions made our night that much more enjoyable. The dessert recommendation of Zabaglione was a wonderful finale and you will need to try! It was coined" a warm hug" after such a delicious meal. We will be back and bring more friends. Try this great location and forego the chain steakhouses for this intimate and friendly venue! Thank you so much!

Yelp
Service started off spotty. We had to wait for close to 20 minutes to put in a drink order. It got a bit better after we finally saw the server but still pretty disappointing. The food was decent but there were issues. The biggest issue was the cook on the steaks. None of the four steaks in our party were exactly to-order but my NY Strip was medium-well when I ordered it medium-rare. We had already waited quite a while for the food so I didn't bother to send it back. The flavor was decent but obviously it was missing some juiciness due to it being overcooked (at least to my preference). Value was also a bit lacking. My brother and sister-in-law ordered a side of Nonna's bread & oil. It is essentially a white bread that they bought from a Japanese bakery. They literally did nothing to it, which was pretty disappointing. My wife ordered a standard iced tea. When the waiter asked her if she wanted a refill she happily said she did. To our shock, they ended up charging us $5 for each iced tea - there were no free refills and, to my knowledge, that was not posted anywhere. The best part of the meal were the gnocchi and wood-fired mushrooms. Both were excellent but it's pretty disappointing that starters are the best part of your expensive steakhouse experience. Overall it was an okay meal that was way overpriced for what you actually got. Additionally, the inconsistency with the cook on the steaks is a pretty big sin when you're charging high-end steakhouse prices. While there were some good elements to the experience at the end of the day I can't see myself going back.

Yelp
Made a reservation, still had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. They were out of their namesake steak, their most popular drink, and crab cakes. Drink order came out at least 20 minutes after ordering. Appetizer came out 25 minutes after ordering (marinated olives). We received our second appetizer about 45 minutes after the first though they were ordered at the same time. The crab/shrimp rolls were really good. Our steaks that arrived about 1 hour and 45 minutes after we sat. On top of that, our steaks were rare and blue despite being ordered medium well and medium rare. We were so hungry at that point that we didn't dare send them back. The mushrooms tasted burned, and so did the potatoes. I smoke a lot of meat and vegetables, so it wasn't just a matter of it being cooked over a wood fire. Our servers were great when they had product to deliver, but it looked like they were waiting on the chefs and bartender constantly. This was NOT a one-off for our table. All tables were experiencing this kind of wait. We didn't even dare order dessert as we didn't know when it would arrive. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the experience was that bad for us. Again our servers were amazing, knowledgeable and checked in with us, but all they could do was relay that they were "sorry for the wait". We didn't complain at all the servers and just wanted to get out of there. P.S. When ordering the Béarnaise sauce, our server cautioned us that it may not be available as the kitchen had been "breaking" the sauce consistently and after checking if they were up for it, we did ultimately receive it.

Yelp
We ended up at Bistecca Steakhouse on a total last minute whim for Valentine's Day, and honestly, I think it was meant to be. We had originally booked at a bigger steakhouse but canceled the night before because of the weather. When the roads cleared up, we decided to go out and grabbed an 8 PM reservation at Bistecca since they still had openings. And wow, what an incredible experience. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I grew up in Las Vegas, surrounded by some of the best restaurants out there, and Bistecca could easily hold its own against them. Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection. I wish I had taken a second to take photos, but we were too busy chowing down to even think about it, that's how good it was. We were seated right by the kitchen, which some people might not love, but for us, it was such a cool experience. Watching huge cuts of steak cook over the wood fired grill and seeing the kitchen staff genuinely enjoying what they do made the meal even better. You can tell they take real pride in their craft. To top it off, the owner, Gabriel, treated us to crab cakes on the house to make up for the wait. Such a thoughtful touch and just another reason this place stands out. They were delicious. We finished the night with their bread pudding to go, and devoured it at home. Warm, rich, and just the right amount of sweetness. Honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better night. Bistecca is an absolute gem and such an impressive rebrand from their old vibe Mama Bird. From the food to the service to the whole experience, everything was spot on. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience here last week! From the minute we stepped in the door we felt welcome ! The atmosphere was lively and warm, we enjoyed watching the action in the open kitchen from or table. From the steak to the scallops everything was perfect! We highly recommend this much needed Steakhouse to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Ah man. Rolled up on Bistecca excited (enjoyed Mama Bird [RIP] and Gabe's inventiveness on Top Chef) and saw the Yelp rating. OK OK sometimes Yelp is harsh on expensive places, let's give it the benefit of the doubt. A lot to work on here. The service was not stellar (sort of the typical disinterested smug flavor you sometimes get in NW, where you feel like you're bothering them with your order). They caution the food comes out slow, which it does, but half of that has to be waiting for someone to come ask you what you want. Many of the flavors were awesome--particularly anything Italian in nature, and many things benefit heavily from the wood fire. Many of the flavors were a bit too inventive for their own good. I'm looking at you, strawberry chili crudo. The Parmesan martini you may want to order because you're curious just how bad it could be, but don't do it, it's worse. After the burrata (mind blowing and changed my mind about burrata in general) I was ready to see through some of the flaws but the dagger in the heart was the steak came out incorrectly cooked. We didn't exactly have the time left to ask for it to be redone. Loophole achieved. You can do it Bistecca I believe in you!

Yelp
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Every bite from salad, starters, and steak was fantastic. Steak in particular was flavorful in every bite, and they come around with a box of salts for you to choose from--went with truffle and it was absolutely fantastic. Staff was very friendly and attentive, chairs comfy and music playing throughout the restaurant. Jordan our waiter was awesome and the owner Gabriel came by to check on us. Will absolutely be back.

Clay B.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service! A bit pricey for a general meal but very nice for special occasions. You can watch the kitchen staff do their magic while you are enjoying a beverage an appetizer.

Bud C.

Yelp
Very pleasant evening with good friends. Food was great. Split an 18 oz. Ribeye with my partner and it matched perfectly with two sides. Kinda far out for a Portland couple but worth the drive . Much less expensive than Morton's, Ringside,or Ruth Crist.

Travis H.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time here! The service was excellent and the food was done SO well! The wood fire added a killer tastes to the New York Steak and veggies that I will be going back for again and again. It is truly classy in there. 10/10 would recommend.

Bill M.

Yelp
Wow, just how bad can service be in a restaurant? Try Bistecca to find out. Get there at 7:30, get drinks 1/2 hour later, get a salad 1 hour later and your entrees 1-1/2 hours later! That's how bad Bistecca is. This place needs to figure their sh*t out. We weren't the only ones who were waiting, and don't give me some crap about waiting for the steaks to rest. I grew up eating in great steak houses and nobody waited to let the steak rest! Skip this place and get over to Ringside if you really need a steak. I miss Mama Bird!

Yelp
Went there Saturday Night, party of 6. Very busy place, service was outstanding. Collaborative staff were all over us. We ordered some drinks and apps, Nonna's bread and oil, outstanding. Gnocchi Cacio Pepe, which I did not try but the others lived loved it. I ordered the 1855 ranch Ribeye. I did some research before hand. This brand specs out equal to Certified Angus Beef. My Ribeye was cooked perfectly and it was great. We got some sides of course, some spiral cut potatoes very good. Kind of forgot the other sides we got. Others ordered the Filet, these were not cooked to the level they were orders at. One sent back as it was too rare. Another for the burger stuffed with braised oxtail and foie Gras. It was a hit. We had a great time, I'd go back again for sure. They need to work on the filet but I'm a Ribeye guy anyway
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
They charge $5 per ice tea. No free refills. That alone is not worth going when you do not drink alcohol. Steak was ok. Overcooked but somehow still had flavor. The salt selection was a nice touch. Ok food but not worth the price.

Yelp
Everything was phenomenal, from the cocktails to the food to the service. The restaurant was busy, but not loud. We started with cocktails. I had the sgroppino (don't ask me how to pronounce it, but it was delicious) and my husband had an old fashion. The crab cakes were little balls of culinary bliss! For our mains, I had the Wagyu controfilleto which was cooked perfectly with the most amazing fire-crusted outside and medium rare inside. My husband had the Bistecca Fiorentina, rare with the same delicious fire-crusting. A member of the wait staff brought around a selection of flavored sea salts, which was a lovely touch. For dessert, I usually have creme brûlée, but opted for the zabaglione and was absolutely blown away by the flavors, especially the amaretti cookie. Our waiter, Jordan, provided spectacular service during our entire meal. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
So I discovered this place online, and wanted to try it. Made a reservation for a Monday night at 8pm. I arrived at 740 and went in, the place smelled amazing, and has a huge open concept which you think would be a good thing. The problem was while we were seated in the waiting area we noticed the manager walking around literally shoving food in his mouth, and then walk right behind the counter and plating up ready to eat food. No gloves sprinkling salt on steaks, and touching salads. We told the hostess that we wanted to cancel and we left. She was nice and understanding, but having someone walk around eating, and touching my food is not a thing sadly we won't go back.

Yelp
Are here with a group last week. Ambiance was dark and would be perfect for a date night. I ordered the American onion soup and the gnocchi. Soup was great and came with a grilled cheese. Gnocchi was not my favorite but I think it was just a cheese they used that threw me off. Our server was nice and helped with recommendations. The only issue we had was that it took a long time to get our food. We were there for almost two hours. Since they just opened though I think they'll start getting quicker so I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Formerly Mama Birds - it was a wonderful mid priced restaurant with decent ambiance but now it's just a hack "steak experience". With over priced everything. Went for a simple roasted chicken meal and then had to deal with no chicken - still being brined for the week - sorry .. so chose from one of the other overpriced selections - chose the burger - Luke warm with fries colder than my cocktail - never coming back - sad that it will be another vacant space again in slabtown

Yelp
Went here for the first time on Friday for Valentine's Day. We split a ribeye and had some mashed potatoes and broccolini. Food was excellent!! We loved that you could choose what kind of salt you wanted for the steak. Service was somewhat slow, took a bit for someone to greet us and I would say we waited about 15 minutes at least to get our drinks. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
The service was excellent! Ambiance was well balanced. The food... AMAZING! The Foie Gras was the diamond! Enjoyed every moment at Bistecca.

Yelp
We came in for another visit and the food was just as great as we remembered. Fiorentina and Pomme Puree were both standouts. Fun night out!

Yelp
Our favorite dish was the grilled Creasar Salad, that is not good since they trying to build their reputation on meat dishes. The steak was just ok and the pork had no flavor, side dishes were very disappointing. The hassle back potatoes were room temperature and I asked for them to be reheated, they came exactly the same cold temperature. I noticed the table next to us left most of their potatoes in the pan. I know they are new but will not be going back.

Yelp
Sadly underwhelmed by Bistecca. Ordered their special burger--beautiful on paper, but arrived raw and cold in the middle. Ribeye was the same story, despite asking for medium rare. Service was lackluster and the vibe was killed by Pandora ads playing in the background. For an upscale spot, it missed the mark in every way.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I do a monthly supper club and we came their first week and loved the steak and appetizers!! Jordan was a great waiter! Will be coming back.

Yelp
Where do I start when everything was just incredible?! I'll start at the beginning. The vibe-- upscale, cozy, + inviting. We love a beautiful 3rd space with a great ambiance. The playlist -- perfection. (Because this is important. Shitty music while you're trying to enjoy yourself is no bueno) We started with a bread dish, the crab cakes, and the yellowtail crudo. The bread and olive oil were delish, the crab cakes... perfection. I'll take 10 more to go please! The yellowtail crudo was out of mt comfort zone-- but it did not disappoint... a perfect bite, with so much flavor and a great texture! The cocktail menu had a great variety, and the wine list... I wanted to try everything. Our table went for the mezcal Rich + Famous and the Tequila sour-- beautiful display, and even better to enjoy! For dinner we enjoyed a WV Pinot Noir from Furioso. Highly recommend! For dinner, we wanted it all, so we split some plates. We went for the chef's choice of Center Cut NY strip with veggie sides of cauliflower and broccoli and then we also had to try the burger. The steak was fired up to perfection-- the rosemary salt is a must, and definitely opt in for the side of horseradish. (I'm sure it didn't need the sauce.. but I'm a sauce fan, okay) The veggies were fired up without fault- neither were over-cooked, they still had a firm texture, but soft enough to cut easy... If you know you know. They were both served with a romesco sauce... delish! Let's talk about this burger-- my god. One person at our table... she needed a whole moment. The sauces, the grind, the bun... all SO delish. And the fries were a perfect partner! We wrapped up our night with their espresso martini, which is served with a cold foam-- it's a must try! We also HAD to do a dessert... and when they all sounded delicious, we opted in for two. Naturally. The crème brûlée was velvety smooth, of course with the perfect crunch from the caramelized topper. And then we opted in on the pistachio souflee... because how could you not? The souflee had a wonderful flavor, the cherry ice cream was mellow and a perfect bite with the chocolate drizzle! Last, but not least, and should have a review of its own -- the service was delightful! (Which is hard to come by these days to be honest). The hostess, our server (shoutout to Natane), the manager Mo, and everyone else who passed by were attentive, welcoming, and made us feel very cared for. Service can make or break an experience, and this team made the whole night even more enjoyable. In Portland, we have to appreciate when we have nice things and support them so they can stay, and the City is able to thrive. I hope everyone takes the time to make a visit, and then makes a habit of enjoying a beautiful date night out on the town at Bistecca. Bistecca-- Your team went above and beyond to create a welcoming and memorable evening, and we're so grateful.

Yelp
MY GOD! Bistecca is our new favorite place to go for steaks! Started with Insalata de casa - amazing! The wine and cocktails - amazing and so smooth! The filet - amazing and melts in your mouth (they give you a choice of different salts on the side which I got the Truffle and my mom got the Rosemary, both fantastic) The service - outstanding! Jordan, our server, was so kind and attentive, and Gabriel, the owner, came by and was also so nice and you can see the passion and care he's put into this place! We definitely will be back with friends! thank you so much!

Yelp
Finally!! Portland has an amazing steak restaurant with creative wood fire dishes again! We have been waiting for something incredible to come along ever since The Imperial closed on Broadway. This place is our new favorite spot. The steak was the best I have ever eaten in the states. Seriously took my breath away. The center cut prime NY was the best steak I have ever had outside of Japanese waygu . Amazing atmosphere for an unforgettable date night. We cannot wait to go back.

Yelp
We were excited to go here. We were warmly welcomed and once at the table things went downhill. Nice enough wait person but slow to receive items once ordered. Bread was underwhelming with no texture to the crust. Crab cakes okay but expensive for 4 tablespoon sized bites. My entree came out ahead of my fellow diners , awkward. And the gnocchi was lukewarm and needed salt. The steak was good and nicely seasoned but hasselback potatoes were a bit over crisped on the ends. Nice space but working out some kinks.

Yelp
Amazing service, awesome atmosphere and of course, the food was delicious . Would recommend

Yelp
Bistecca's filet is a masterpiece--flawless on its own, with a perfectly charred crust and a tender, juicy medium-rare center. Each bite melts with rich, smoky flavor. Thoughtfully offered sides of salt enhance the depth without overpowering the steak's natural deliciousness. A woodfire triumph every steak lover should experience. The best steakhouse in the city!

Yelp
Amazing experience. We loved everything, but some standouts were the oysters, foie gras toast, and the burger. Definitely the burger! Save room for dessert as well.
