Where to Eat in the West Island

"Run by husband-wife team Sarah-Ann Lennox and Tarik Belmoufid out of their old house, Bistro 1843 features technically strong, French-leaning cuisine on a concise table d’hôte menu. That said, expect a few touches from Tarik’s Moroccan background — and elsewhere, too." - Erinn Blicher, Eater Staff

The highly anticipated reputation didn't disappoint. The service and food were excellent. Very homey and comfortable dining room. The scallops were one of the best we've ever tasted. Wild cod and NY steaks also cooked to perfection. No doubt one of the very best restaurants in the West Island/ Montreal area. Highly recommend.

I’m embarrassed that I never reviewed their restaurant before now. We live in the west Island and have eaten here probably at least 20 times. I have yet to leave there without feeling that I had an exceptional experience. The service and food is what every restaurant should try and strive to attain. It is a small husband and wife team serving out of a converted home and it’s perfect because the service you get is so personal that you feel like you’re home with family that you love. The quality of food is outstanding and service impeccable. you can tell that they love what they do because it shows in everything they do. This place is an absolute gem. Although tough to get reservations, when you do, it is well with the effort and the wait. Kudos to Tarek and Sara for everything they do and making their customers feel so special.

This is one of the best restaurants in all of Montreal. The soup was one of the best soups I've ever had. My boyfriend and I shared two meals and they were both spectacular. My family tried all of the deserts and they were all perfect. While this restaurant is on the more expensive side, it is well worth the price and I left there feeling full. I would definitely recommend.

This place is a hidden gem in Ile Bizard. Was absolutely amazing!!! You must go and try. Have to reserve about 2 months in advance Follow up: Went for a 2nd time with my husband yesterday - still incredible. Small but tasty and unique menu. Had filet mignon and seafood risotto, escargot appetizer with a caesar and a house salad, raspberry cheesecake and flourless cake for dessert - everything amazing. Such a lovely atmosphere. Sadly they are closing for a while after January.... but I hope they get much relaxation and special time that they need to feel well enough to come back. We appreciate your skills so much

Although it took us a while to get a reservation, it was definitely worth the wait. The atmosphere, the service and the food was amazing. The food was very flavourful, fresh and different. You can see they put so much detailing into it. As for the service, the owners are incredibly sweet and work as a team to serve everyone. I truly recommend coming here. We already set our reminders to try to get reservations for my birthday in 2023! I can’t wait to go back.

If you are coming from downtown Montreal it's about an hour away. Food was good, but not amazing. Service was nice and friendly. Spent about two hours for dinner. We did not bring our own wine (didn't want to drink). There is a combination offer of one appetizer, one main plate, and dessert or you can order a la carte. The pricing seemed about the same either way, but there were different main options for the combination offer. Personally, I did not think it was worth the drive, but it was a nice adventure.

Worth the 2 month wait for our reservation! The food was delicious and presented beautifully, the service was professional, friendly and prompt, and atmosphere is elegant and homey. The sweet potato ginger apple soup was my favorite. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, but I wish it came with a side of something besides a few vegetables. Seafood risotto was also delicious with a unique dill flavor! Overall, a great experience - I’m already waiting on when I can make another reservation!

Best experience we have ever had in a restaurant! It was well worth the 2month wait for the reservation! Cannot wait to be back! If i could put 10 stars I would. From the homemade bread to the feuilleté d'escargot, the velouté of sweet potato and ginger, to the delectable crusted rack of lamb, un mignon de veau with a reduction of brie and truffle and of course outstanding housemade lemon cheecake we were on cloud 9 rolling our eyes the entire time not believeing how incredible every bite treated our palates! Strongly recommend! Absolutely delishhhhh👌
