Yelp
I wanted an exceptional breakfast experience during our weekend visit to Miami. We also were staying in downtown Miami and didn't have a car. The reviews (and photos) of Bistro Cafe sounded good, and it was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel.
Our experience was AMAZING. We were (thankfully) seated right away upon our arrival, beating the crowds, even though we got there around 9:30 AM on a Saturday. The restaurant space was beautiful. And our server Roberto was exceptional. He was very friendly and informative.
The menu is gigantic. There are so many incredible choices that I had a hard time deciding. It definitely took us awhile to narrow down our choices. But looking around at everyone's plates, I could see that the portions were huge.
I ordered a coffee, but it was a Cafe Americano; no brewed coffee, just espresso mixed with hot water. I didn't dare ask for a "refill" because I figured they charged by the cup since it wasn't the brewed kind. It was good, though. My partner ordered a latte and it came beautifully presented. In fact, all of their drinks were beautiful presented, and sometimes over the top! We saw other tables get delivered these elaborate drinks. Truly spectacular-looking.
After much contemplation, I ordered the Montreal omelette, which had a lot of cheeses, chorizo, bacon, and onions and peppers. Instead of toast, I opted for the waffle upgrade at the suggestion of our server Roberto. My partner ordered the Gaucho omelette, which had steak, plantains and veggies. He also upgraded his side and got French toast instead. The omelettes were ginormous. I can't even conceive of how many eggs must have been in each one. They were both amazing. And if we lived locally, we would have eaten half of our breakfasts and taken the rest home. Instead, we them all. Yes, every last freakin' bite. And we were full. But we weren't planning on having lunch, so it worked out. The waffle was just okay. It was smothered (I mean, really smothered) with Nutella and covered with fruit. It wasn't the typical fluffy Belgian waffle. It was more dense. The French Toast was probably better, but the upgrades for each was $8. Yikes. Still, we were on vacation, so we splurged.
We would definitely visit Bistro Cafe again on a future trip to Miami.
