The Good :
*The hostess was simply lovely. They were not able to accommodate us one night, but she made sure we had reservations for the next night, and remembered us when we returned.
* the complimentary focaccia was delicious.
The ok:
*we enjoyed our "Job's Tears" appetizer, but it was not special or memorable.
*the ambiance. Our table was a little awkward (in the middle of the room); I enjoyed the live music!
* The pork chop was average/bland.
* I liked the flavors of the slaw that came with my chicken, but again it was nothing that I would come back for.
The Not Good:
* Our waiter asked if we wanted more bread, and purposely left the butter on the table. About 15 minutes later, I asked about the bread, and he said "oh, we've run out of bread."
First, he could've told me that earlier. Second, I saw him bring second helpings of bread to a couple other tables after he had asked us if we wanted more. It's not a big deal, but I think he simply forgot, and I felt like I was being gaslit.
* the polenta that came with the pork chop seemed old. It looked like it had coagulated, and the texture was mealy.
The Really Bad:
* my Vietnamese style chicken, tasted like something you would get at the mall food court. It was cloyingly sweet and also too salty at the same time. I was expecting to get a piece of grilled chicken (as you wold in most Vietnamese dishes), but instead was cubed chicken swimming in very sticky, very sweet sauce.
* the bacon jam on top of the pork chop was far too sweet.
*Both meals had sweet elements that were unnecessary. When they asked if we'd like dessert, I said no, because I felt I had already eaten excessive sugar.
*it was far too expensive for what we received and the service we didn't get.
It was the kind of meal I have buyers remorse about. I hate that. I should've ask for my money back.
