"With live music and a charming brick patio with blooming flowers in season, the Bistro proves Cannon Beach’s dining scene can be inventive and fun. An easy walk from downtown hotels, the Bistro is home to chef and owner Jack Stevenson, with experience heading up San Francisco’s Mandarin Oriental and other top-notch hotel and resort restaurants. He slips kombu and bonito into cioppino for a deeper savory note and bolsters his tom kha with an array of shellfish. Vegan and vegetarian dishes include options like savory sorghum, lentil, and cucumber cakes or fresh linguini with wild mushrooms. Visitors traveling with dogs can ask for the canine menu, so that diners and dog-friends can enjoy a meal on the patio together." - Jennifer Burns Bright

Yelp
Best food in Cannon beach, hands down. Don't miss out on this place if you're in town. The atmosphere and service were outstanding and we felt like family here. Thank you Chef Jack, JJ, Laurita, and Brian for a great evening on our last night on vacation. Wish yall were closer to Texas! We will be back again.

Yelp
This restaurant puts a unique twist on food and knocks it out of the park. The ceasar salad had shredded lettuce with a Parmesan custard that was unusual but it worked, and the Parmesan cracker was amazing. The fresh made linguine was delicious and was great with the prawns. Dessert is not to missed either. They had a special that was beyond explanation and worth every bite. Upon entering the bar area had live music and seemed popular. The dining room was behind a wall that made it feel cosy, intimate, and provided a noise barrier so the music wasn't too loud to have a conversation. The service was excellent as well. Everyone was very friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. We look forward to coming again and sitting out in their patio.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with friends on a Saturday evening. Made reservations in advance for 5:15. There is no designated parking lot for the restaurant, but there is a parking lot about a block away for area shoppers. We were greeted as we walked in. Very inviting ambiance with dim lights. They have live music; an acoustic guitarist played soft tunes while we dined. The restaurant is pretty small inside, but they also have outdoor patio seating available. We ordered the cioppino, pork porterhouse, and fig and beet salad for entrees. They were all delicious! The pork was cooked perfectly and very tender. The cioppino had tons of seafood and just the right spicy kick. The salad was fresh. For dessert, we ordered the maple cinnamon cheesecake, crazy swede, and their homemade coffee ice cream. All desserts are made in-house, and it shows. All were delicious and a perfect end to a wonderful meal. Our traditional dinner spot during our annual girls beach weekend is Neah Kah Nie Bistro in Manzanita where we stay, but they were closed for a fall break this visit, so we found The Bistro as an alternative. We were happy we did! It was such a wonderful first experience. We'll definitely return and highly recommend it.

Yelp
I ordered caramelized chicken Togo. It was delicious. It came with bread and seasoned jasmine rice. It was on the pricey end but this dish also seemed to be the only dish in town with jasmine rice, i think Cannon Beach needs more food diversity... Everything was yummy. Staff was nice too. If I were to nitpicking, I'd prefer my rice unseasoned as having both my entree and rice seasoned tasted a little too salty for me.

Yelp
Always a lovely experience at the Cannon Beach Bistro. Great ambiance and wonderful quality food. Thank you for working us in on the patio, JJ!

Mar K.

Yelp
Fantastic host JJ welcomed us. Ambiance begins with the walk up TJ the door...charmingly intimate walk way with lights (see photo). Found by Chef Jack was very tasty (see photos) pork chop was incredible on the bed of polenta with asparagus, friend's pasta dish was portioned quite large and functioned as comfort food; and the wine was so delicious.

Yelp
Stopped in here on the recommendation of our hotel for an anniversary dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was imaginative and well executed with choices to please different palates. The aesthetic was warm and inviting. Of our choices of the house and fig salad, the fig was the standout. As for our entrees, the chef special of salmon with citrus glaze over 3 pepper risotto and the caramel Vietnamese chicken, the chicken was spectacular. We finished the night by sharing the chef super sweet which was raspberry glaze over pannecotta on a chocolate ganache/pecan crust. It did not disappoint. Overall a fabulous anniversary celebration. Everything we had was delicious!

Yelp
There is no better spot for a date night in Cannon Beach than The Bistro. From the nightly live music (quiet and a lovely touch) to the cocktails to the amazing food. Would suggest making a reservation during busier times but there is a bar area if you are a drop in and get lucky. Everyone who works here is just amazing and we have never been more taken care of. Last but not least, the food is out of this world and we ended up going back as we were not able to try as many items as we wanted to on the first night

Yelp
The food and service here was excellent. We had a scallop special that was absolutely delicious, although $63 for 3 scallops was a bit surprising. The Vietnamese chicken was also very good, and fyi about the same price as one scallop. We had the pork belly and beet fig salad as well. All of it was top tier. We opted for the red blend bottle for wine, which was a winner as well. Terrific restaurant experience. The one issue is making a reservation. They don't have online reservations and their phone goes to voicemail, so making a reservation involves leaving voicemails and hoping they call you back, and that you pick up when they call. Kind of a pain.

Yelp
It is magic place to visit. Food was amazing and service was wonderful. The restaurant is very cozy. I high recommend to stop in this beautiful restaurant.

Ellamen O.

Yelp
Love love love this place. Kind staff, beautiful restaurant, and delicious food. They have a happy hour with a fantastic selection of small bites. Full bar selection, really excellent all around. Couldn't be happier here, and literally we'll be back tomorrow night.

Yelp
This an outstanding restaurant with delicious good in general portions and very fair prices. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We highly recommend!!

Yelp
What an amazing Bistro! We enjoyed our first dinner at The Bistro and we were so impressed. The restaurant ambiance was so comfortable and inviting. We also really enjoyed the solo guitarist playing soft music. Our meals were fantastic. We enjoyed crab cakes to start, then a cup of outstanding chowder, followed by the Pork entree and the steak entree. We finished with a chocolate dessert. The meals had so much flavor and were cooked to perfection. Jennifer our server was great and we loved interacting with JJ who owns the restaurant with her husband who is the chef. We will be back and look forward to taking advantage of the outdoor patio!

Yelp
While the ambiance of Bistro was lovely and certainly played the farm to table part I cannot say the same about the food. To begin, we were sat 15 minutes late and did not see a server for our first 20 minutes. Our drinks took an extended amount of time and despite proactively putting in appetizers and entrees early, everything was a wait to say the least. Our entrees did not all come out at the same time, with one coming 15 minutes after everyone else's. The steak was cold, the chowder forgettable, and the caramel chicken was overly moist and off putting texture. The one positive was the coastal thai soup which was gratefully warm and flavorful. The expectations of the experience were high due to the positive reviews from others but we were left disappointed and constantly waiting.

Yelp
Yum - this was the best meal we had on the Oregon Coast by far! Making a reservation was difficult. We had to call and leave messages and wait for a call back but we finally got one and were seated with no issues. No complaint about the staff or the atmosphere, both were great! I loved the decor and architecture in here. Definitely different than what we found at other restaurants along the coast. We started with the Korean Braised Crispy Pork Belly, which was amazing. It came with a a delicious slaw and jasmine rice combo. For dinner, I got the Salmon, which was fresh caught and had a light chardonnay sauce. It was on top of a bed of rice that was also delicious but notably different than the appetizer. My girlfriend got the linguine, which was fairly plain but cooked to perfection. It's kind of on her for getting a somewhat bland option. For dessert, we got housemate hazelnut ice cream (which was BETTER than the Tillamook we had earlier that day) and the Key Lime Creme Brûlée. The creme brûlée was not spectacular but I'm not a huge creme brûlée fan anyway. If you can swing it, definitely try this place. It is not cheap and it was not easy to get in, but it was delicious. Even the table bread here was worth writing home about. Well done!

Yelp
The Good : *The hostess was simply lovely. They were not able to accommodate us one night, but she made sure we had reservations for the next night, and remembered us when we returned. * the complimentary focaccia was delicious. The ok: *we enjoyed our "Job's Tears" appetizer, but it was not special or memorable. *the ambiance. Our table was a little awkward (in the middle of the room); I enjoyed the live music! * The pork chop was average/bland. * I liked the flavors of the slaw that came with my chicken, but again it was nothing that I would come back for. The Not Good: * Our waiter asked if we wanted more bread, and purposely left the butter on the table. About 15 minutes later, I asked about the bread, and he said "oh, we've run out of bread." First, he could've told me that earlier. Second, I saw him bring second helpings of bread to a couple other tables after he had asked us if we wanted more. It's not a big deal, but I think he simply forgot, and I felt like I was being gaslit. * the polenta that came with the pork chop seemed old. It looked like it had coagulated, and the texture was mealy. The Really Bad: * my Vietnamese style chicken, tasted like something you would get at the mall food court. It was cloyingly sweet and also too salty at the same time. I was expecting to get a piece of grilled chicken (as you wold in most Vietnamese dishes), but instead was cubed chicken swimming in very sticky, very sweet sauce. * the bacon jam on top of the pork chop was far too sweet. *Both meals had sweet elements that were unnecessary. When they asked if we'd like dessert, I said no, because I felt I had already eaten excessive sugar. *it was far too expensive for what we received and the service we didn't get. It was the kind of meal I have buyers remorse about. I hate that. I should've ask for my money back.

Yelp
I had one of the best customer service experiences at this restaurant! Truly. I ordered food online and one of my orders was incorrect, and the beet salad was subpar (the seafood linguine was excellent and I highly recommend the dish!). I called the restaurant to let them know and they called me back the next day. They were so kind and apologized for the mistake, but then they went above and beyond by sending me a handwritten note and gift card in the mail to the restaurant. I mean, who does that anymore? Wow, It really meant so much as a customer and I will definitely be coming back!

Marsha C.

Yelp
Highly recommend this very high end Resturant. It's a bit pricey but so very good. We shared the halibut special, best ever! Service was superior. Will return for a special occasion dinner.

Steve L.

Yelp
I must say that we were very disappointed in our meals. We thought very expensive and small portions for the money. I had the salmon/ risotto special and was disappointed with the mushy risotto and the small piece of salmon. The table service was good but overall we can't recommend.

Marina f.

Yelp
Great food, cute little spot, a creative & varied menu. Loved most of their creative approaches to 'typical' restaurant offerings (i.e. they used yellow curry in the making of their house bread. Inventive and tasty - but if you're not a fan of Indian food, this may be a negative for you). I would have given 5 stars, but they made us wait over 30 mins for our entree following our salad course (with no check-in from our server), which is inexcusable (we did not order anything that should have taken that long). We may give them another shot next time we're visiting as we come to CB several times a year. Hopefully, the delay we experienced is not typical b/c good food doesn't trump bad service.

Mark T.

Yelp
A superb dining experience. Great food and service. Beautiful presentations too. We started with the fresh burrata. Wonderful flavors. Fresh baked moist focaccia bread was a nice freebie starter too. Then on to the halibut with jasmine rice and a Tom kah sauce - you know, Thai coconut. Yum. We also had the filet of beef which came with a decadent slab of parmesan potato soufflé. A real winner. Some homemade coffee ice cream for dessert was a great way to end the meal. There were other menu items I really wanted to try too! Thus I must return. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Man...I really had high hopes for this place after reading reviews and seeing some photos. Unfortunately our experience was honestly pretty bad which was sad because the staff was so friendly. We sat in the bar and asked for a cocktail menu to which we were told they didn't have one but could make whatever we asked for. I was taken aback because every establishment with a full bar should have a cocktail menu even if it only has basic ones. They had a beautiful bar full of spirits! How can they not have signature cocktails? We finally landed on a whiskey sour and a Paloma after asking for a couple different cocktails and being told they didn't have the ingredients. The whiskey sour was ok but way too sour and the Paloma was completely undrinkable. I realized that they didn't use any simple syrup in their drinks which created a harsh unbalanced cocktail. The Paloma was so strong it tasted like I was drinking a glass of a sour grapefruit juice and straight tequila. The bar tender seemed new and was looking up recipes online which is totally ok but that is why you have a menu and then recipes behind the bar for staff to reference. We ordered the crab cakes that came served in a thin overly sweet sauce that made the crab cakes soggy upon arrival. After the bad cocktails and disappointing crab cakes we asked for the check and left. I really hope this place teaches their bar staff how to make cocktails, creates a menu for guests to choose from and actually puts simple syrup in their cocktails. The prices here are high since it's a nicer place but there needs to be more attention to detail to make it worth spending the money and this just was not worth it at all.

Yelp
This place is a true gem. This was by far the best meal I've ever had. The filet was cooked to perfection and the potatoes and green beans were to die for! The staff was outstanding and the ambiance was exceptional! I would give it a 100/10. A must stop on your trip.

Susan M.

Yelp
This is a must when in Cannon Beach. The service is top notch and the door is beyond good. The hostess J.J. make you feel more like a friend than a patron. A breath of fresh air. Our server, Jennifer, was friendly and attentive. The food was next level! Our table had multiple different salads and entrees amongst us. Everyone of found it exceptional. The chef, Jack, came out and greeted our table. We showered him with compliments. He was so humble and kind. Just a genuine guy that loves what he does. Will come back again and again!

Marty O.

Yelp
Overpriced and below average entrees . Other than the pork belly appetizer and the brined filet of beef, everything was below average. The chefs special lamb chops came sauced in over salted and undercooked risotto When brought up with the waitress, she became defensive and condescending. The Carmel chicken Vietnamese-style consisted of a small bowl of balled-up pieces of chicken in a sweet sauce with nut fragments. I could have done better at a food cart at a quarter of the price. The atmosphere was peaceful with relaxing music but the service was indifferent. There were three of us and we won't be back.

Amanda F.

Yelp
Great little place. If you are visiting Cannon Beach, please dine here. Cozy but still great for a date night. Fantastic menu with great specials. Owners and staff are welcoming and accommodating. Food is amazing and the dessert menu will not disappoint. They host live music nightly and the atmosphere is simply the best.

Lilly S.

Yelp
We had a delicious birthday dinner here recently and everything was spectacular! The food, service, live music, ambiance - top notch.

Vickie C.

Yelp
The service was excellent and the food was good. It is a small venue so the tables are located very close together. There was live music which was lovely, but added to the "squeezed" feeling in the dining area. The bartender readily fixed a drink that was not ideal. The clam appetizer was excellent and the clams were cooked perfectly. The house and caesar salads were outstanding as were the prawn/crab cakes. I would go back with fewer people in our group.

Jaclyn G.

Yelp
My fiancé and I have been visiting Cannon Beach at least once per year, but for some reason we never noticed this little gem. We stopped in during the off-season, so it was relatively quiet. I would certainly recommend a reservation for the rest of the year. We had the beet salad and duck confit for starters, the Thai style cioppino and ahi tuna for our entrees, and shared the cheesecake and ice cream for desert. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh. The restaurant was on the smaller side, but very well decorated and welcoming. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly and attentive. One visit and we are hooked! It is now one of our two favorite restaurants in Cannon Beach.

James S.

Yelp
Great service and live music we really enjoyed the pork chop. It had so much flavor. The yellow beet and fig salad dressing was very memorable. The crab cakes were good but not our favorite. Clam chowder appetizer hit the spot on a cold day. Will definitely be coming back here!

Joanne F.

Yelp
The Bistro is one of the few upscale restaurants in Cannon Beach. The food and service are exceptional. Just not sure the meals are worth the price comparing other area restaurants. There is live music and happy hour in the bar. It's a very small place so the music was still quite loud in the dining room. The halibut was cooked to perfection, but was overpowered by the spicy risotto. If you're expecting the best food in town because of the price, you can do better elsewhere.

Bryan P.

Yelp
Hubby and I were in town for a special getaway and hoped to find the best romantic dinner spot in Cannon Beach. And we did! So great in fact we went back to back nights! There was live music, intimate atmosphere that underscored the delicious food only matched by the warm and welcoming staff. Don't pass up dinner at this little gem!

Ronda G.

Yelp
A true gem in Cannon Beach! Great food, service, and ambience! All our food was very fresh, hot, flavorful, and made with love! A must try!

Jules W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had an incredible experience at the Bistro. The food was top notch and so was the service. The chef/owner spoke with us extensively after bringing our food and his wife greeted us at the door. Jack and JJ were a pleasure to dine with and the food was beyond tasty. We got the pork belly, ahi tuna, chowder, and linguini with clams all of which were FANTASTIC! These are the kind restaraunts that I enjoy supporting... great good, great people.

Diana B.

Yelp
What a wonderful find in Cannon Beach. The interior is just the right light and fun lights. It is small and does not serve too many people, but the food was delicious. I brought my own bottle of wine. The red blend was perfect with our dinner. I had to warm Burrata appetizer with beet salad. Out with two of my best friends they shared a salad and shared a delicious looking homemade pasta dish. I couldn't eat all of my salad but it was quite good. The service was friendly and attentive and we all had a wonderful evening. If you are there in Cannon Beach this is a place to check out. Can't wait to go next time and try something different!

Matthew C.

Yelp
My grandfather was restaurant critic for the New York Times. He told me the things to watch out for that made a dining experience extraordinary. The ambiance -- relaxed yet gracious. The food -- wonderful in both taste and variety. The people -- welcoming as if they were bringing you into their home... The Bistro was all these things and more. JJ, the hostess, came outside as I was reading the menu posted at the door, and asked if I had any questions. She and Jennifer, my server, were fun and helpful, always there to refill my glass and answer questions, with that magical balance of always present yet not 'hovering'. The food was excellent... not complicated and yet really interesting and flavorful. I had the pork chop which was the best I've had in years with it's bacon jam and a wonderful sauce. It was the best dining experience I've had at Cannon Beach, a favorite get-away for my wife and I. We'll be back as soon as we can.

Conor K.

Yelp
Best dinner we've had in recent memory. If you are staying on the Oregon coast you need to make it a priority to eat at this treasure!

Ginger H.

Yelp
Nope, We arrived 5 min early, and even though the restaurant was open the host said the cook didn't want anyone seated in the dining room before 5 so we waited outside in the cold. The food was not good. My crab cakes (no lump meat) were thin and sitting in water from the salad dressing. It made the crab cake fall apart. Not good. The chowder was too salty to eat. The clams could have been cleaned better as there was a lot of crunch to them. Our waitress was sweet. Just find somewhere else to go.

Beckie G.

Yelp
Mia was EXCEPTIONAL! Her level of service went WELL BEYOND her 20 years of age! Her knowledge of pairings with the executive chef's special was huge. She had an honest smile & enthusiasm through the entire meal and she deserves to be celebrated and recognized. Thank you Mia - you were EXCEPTIONAL! I hope you're here when we come back in the fall!!!

Madison B.

Yelp
We had the best experience here! Our waiter Timmy was so nice and helpful! We ordered the special (amazing), Cesar salad, burrata, and the fillet. All of it was so good and a little bit unique which we loved. The table bread and butter was also delicious. And the cheesecake!! Save room for desert. The blueberry cheesecake with lemon curd was such a great was to end the dinner. We loved it so much we canceled our reservation for tomorrow to come here again before we leave!

Jocelyn K.

Yelp
Came in tonight based off the reviews I saw here. I'm so thankful I did! I planned ahead and called and made reservations. Online reservations would be easier but meh, it was fine. We were seated right away in a very dimly lit restaurant. There was live music and candles lit. Hubby and I both ordered the warm burrata with tomato jam to start, it was incredible! I ordered the linguine with chicken, and hubby ordered the special, salmon on top of leek risotto. Both dishes were incredible, probably some of the best restaurant meals we've had in quite some time. We finished it off with the key lime brûlée and the chocolate ganache torte. I only managed to snag a pic of these because we ate the rest of our food so fast. It is so nice to know that you can come to the beach and have an incredible meal like you would in the big cities. We're total food snobs, and this place we will come back to for sure. Can't believe we haven't been here before now!

Mary F.

Yelp
Lovely dinner, delicious steak, salad and Prosecco. Nice small dining room with servers attentive to details.

Tony J.

Yelp
A bit overpriced for the quality. The seared ahi had good flavor but a bit simple, consisting of two slabs of blue rare ahi steaks top of a bed of white rice with seaweed salad and citrus sauce on the side. The cioppino was too salty and not very hearty, and the fish pieces had an overly fishy taste. On the plus side, the live musicians were very good, as was the service. 2.5 stars

Ryan M.

Yelp
Love this place! It is so warm both in the interior and in the service. The entire staff was amazing and felt so welcome there! The food...wow! If I had to pick our two favorites, the steamers and the pork belly take the prize but EVERYTHING we had was delicious. Will be back for sure! :)

Jesse S.

Yelp
I had the linguini with scallops (you can choose between clams, scallops, prawns, chicken, or seafood medley). Twas honestly the best linguini that's ever entered my linguini hole. Top that with great service and a quaint, relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Adam G.

Yelp
Really Special!! One of the best pieces of fresh salmon I've had in a long time with perfectly cooked risotto and a nice mango salsa with a great tartaness to offset the sweetness. Fabulous Caesar salad really unusual and a unbelievably great crab and prawn cake. Gigantic surprise how great it was. Also really nice touch on the service there but not overly intrusive. Definitely I must go to when visiting Cannon Beach!

Jonesy ..

Yelp
Proposed this weekend to my wonderful wife and partner @juanitas Bistro was our engagement restaurant of choice and we came back.....TWICE in FIVE days. Chef is awesome. The Seafood linguine - Seafood Cioppino (stew) -. The dishes this weekend made our celebration even more memorable and unforgettable. Cheers to the local serenades for their nostalgic musical selection covers. Nos encantó!

Or V.

Yelp
The food was nice. My husband enjoyed his pork chops. I had the tuna and wasn't impressed; it was a bit overcooked and didn't work well with the rice. It came out a bit dry. A nice salad would have worked better. The fig salad was fantastic! It was the best part of the meal. The service was fine; great hostess and an ok waiter. The live music was lovely. This place has a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed the evening.

Catherine J.

Yelp
Chef Jack is an inspiration to food!! The beef filet I had tonight was the best one I've ever had. JJ is the hostess with the mostess. The Bistro is an amazing iconic restaurant that will wow any foodie! Please visit this awesome place and enjoy!

Seth B.

Yelp
Greater at the door by a grand man. Lovely classical guitar music tonight. Chatty conversations from other tables. Salad was nicely flavored. Bread offering could be better, but good. Having sturgeon and also the fillet mignon. Both were magnificent. Not too salty. Flavored perfectly. Swedish cream layered cheesecake with Blueberry jelly and chocolate ganache and pecan crust. Jennifer is da-best! A nice wine list too. Clean bathroom too.
