Nestled in the row of shop houses along keong Saik Road, one might just walk right by and not notice this quaint French bistro. Service is great throughout from welcome, through to after payment. Water topped up like 4/5 times in a span of 1.5 hours. Food was off the restaurant week lunch menu, starters were mostly hits especially the mushroom cepes soup, smoked salmon was on point with the seasoning and fennel. On to the Mains, canard pekin was very generous in portion, just about right if you're really hungry. Well seasoned sauce and paired with roasted Brussel sprouts, mushrooms. Dessert was between chocolate banana cake with ice cream, profitoleros was generous also, with 2 big scoops of ice cream. French desserts never a let down. Overall great experience and will gladly return for more

TGIF! My bestie and I decided to go for French cuisine yesterday as both our partners were not adventurous in food🤭 After much research, I decided on Bistro Gaston through many google reviews. I would said that the escargot, croquettes live up to our expectation! Both of us are not cheese fanatics but the melted cheese inside the croquettes won us over. The oeuf eu murrettes was a bit let down as it was served at room temperature (I preferred warm /hot food). However, the poached barramundi and mussels stew make out for the disappointment. I don’t eat mussels due to some bad experience but the portion served was quite a bit. Had to help my bestie clear some mussels reluctantly. Surprisingly, it tasted really good! Mussels were tender and not over cooked. Same for the barramundi. Garlic bread came with the dish was good too! Near to end of the meal, we realised we had eaten too much bread! Thought of changing the dessert (French toast) but did not. The french toast was caramelised on outside and soft inside. It goes well with the ice-cream. Yesterday dinners were just right and not as crowded as we thought. We stayed a little longer drinking our wine and catching up with each other. Overall, both of us had an enjoyable dinner at Bistro Gaston and would go back again to try out other dishes. 🥰

I absolutely loved their escargot, rich, garlicky, and perfectly cooked. The steak was done just right, juicy and full of flavor. And the foie gras was simply unforgettable, smooth, buttery, and indulgent in all the best ways.

First impression: cozy is an understatement. It’s tiny and packed with tables, so we were basically elbow-to-elbow with our neighbors. We tried a few dishes — the cheese platter was great, especially with wine. The escargot came wrapped in some kind of pastry, so you could eat the whole thing, shell and all. I liked that twist! The steak? Super tasty. One tip: don’t rely too much on the staff’s recommendations. I followed their pasta pick and totally regretted it 😅. Better to go in with a plan. All in all, it’s a nice little traditional French spot. The food is tasty, but not rush-back-every-week tasty. Worth a visit, maybe not a regular.

There are moments when you crave familiar comfort fare. Tonight we found them in Bistro Gaston. Food was delicious and well-executed. We particularly enjoyed the heirloom tomatoes carpaccio and seasonal mussels.

Friyay dinner: service was average, food was average (the highlight was the escargots) 😐 Pictured: - Escargots 👍🏻 - Gougeres 👌🏻 - Boeuf Bourguignon 👍🏻 - Profiterols 👌🏻 - Le Tarte Du Jour 👌🏻 📍: Bistro Gaston @ Keong Saik Road

The complimentary bread was warm and comforting, a simple pleasure elevated by a smear of quality butter. The cold cuts set, however, didn’t quite hit the mark for me. From the mains, I especially enjoyed the gravy that came with the poulet, it really made the dish stand out. The steak was decent, the cut is on the leaner side. I was most excited for one of my all-time favourite French dishes: beef bourguignon. While the flavours were there, the sauce was a bit thicker than I personally prefer as I tend to enjoy a thinner, more delicate version.

Popped in for a quick lunch. Decided on the Beef bourguignon… it was sensational. Could not fault any part of the meal. Flavours were perfect. I used to try and cook this dish. Never again 😂
