Bistro La Cohue

The best food and service in QC by far on our visit. Between 4 of us we tried half the menu and everything was prepared with expertise and plated well. The service was outstanding from the moment we entered the door; positive, attentive, and informative. The bar has spirits, cider, and beer, but the wine collection is extensive. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes fine dining.

Food was exceptional. I want to especially thank the waitress who unfortunately we didn't get her name (dark brown curly hair). It was busy, so we understand service would be slower, but she came over and apologized multiple times which made us feel cared for. It truly made our night!

The interior was nice and beautiful. The combination and taste of the ingredients were unique and it was very delicious. I absolutely come back to Quebec just for these foods! And you know what, tasty baguette and butter are served together (in Toronto, you need to order bread separately :p) Impressed by sound proof panels on the ceiling, pleasant to talk with my partner without noise from other tables. Also washroom was well maintained and clean.

We just took in this beautiful bistro when visiting Quebec and my goodness was this the most brilliant decision we could have made. The moment you walk in the staff is so welcoming and the atmosphere was lovely. And then came the food and I don’t think we could have gone wrong with anything on the menu but I can say without any hesitation that the Boudin Noir was the most delicious food I can remember enjoying to this degree. And the staff was just the most gracious and delightful people you could ever hope to encounter. Thank you for this marvelous experience!

A beautifully decorated place, the meat dishes are amazing, the creme brulee is very good, the wine selection is quite wide.

The waiter with orange hair was absolutely amazing and truly deserves a raise! He gave us excellent recommendations for both dinner and dessert, and his kindness made our experience even more enjoyable. He even shared a bit about his background and where he’s from, which added a personal touch to the evening. We ordered the octopus appetizer, along with the cod and grilled beef for dinner—all of the dishes were outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant and the incredible service we received! (My dirty martini was also exceptional!)

We walked in, no reservations for Monday evening. I was looking for authentic French food outside old Quebec City and stumbled upon this hidden gem! It was our best meal of the trip — the service was amazing. Our hostess Audrey (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was very attentive and polite. She explained the menu well (we don’t speak French) and we felt very welcomed by the whole restaurant. Ambience was very nice inside. The food and wine was top notch too! The Syrah from Spain paired very well with the food. The foie gras was amazing on the steak and potatoes. The homemade gnocchi and accompanying vegetables were delicious, as well as the creamy sauce. The beef tartare as appetizer was delicious! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Absolute joy!! That's my only way to describe the experience we had here. Here, the menu items are food creations. From the soup of the day, to dessert... all were amazingly awesome and great value for the cost. Checkout the pics for details. Marssil, our server, completed the experience. He exemplifies someone who loves food and what he does. His attentiveness and recommendations were great. We were a party of 3 with reservations, which I strongly recommend as the restaurant fills quickly after 6:00pm. It's a local favourite, and not much to see from the outside. Look for the yellow umbrellas! I highly recommend a visit if you're in the vicinity of Quebec City!
