A Beloved Healdsburg Space Is Reborn as California-French Restaurant Bistro Lagniappe From a Popular Oregon Chef | Eater SF

"Chef Jacob Harth debuts his new bistro on Thursday, May 29, taking over the Molti Amici and Campo Fina space on Healdsburg Avenue and keeping the wood-fired oven that powered the previous restaurants. He is returning to the seafood cooking that first earned him praise in Portland — which will later translate into a new restaurant dubbed Winnie’s — while emphasizing careful use of local produce and meat in a bistro setting. Harth visited farms, ranches, and the harbor at Bodega Bay to form connections for the restaurant under his ethos of sustainability and organic products, and as he puts it, “It’s a produce-driven restaurant. It’s the best product that’s available right now, from our farmers, and also our ranchers and fishermen.” Dishes may look “pretty simple,” he admits, but have “a lot going on behind it”; for example, a starter called “Plate of early summer vegetables” could feature vegetables roasted in the wood-fired oven, marinated and chilled, pickled, raw, or even dried in the fireplace because, as Harth says, “There’s going to be a plethora of techniques used to showcase the best of the season.” One dish inspired by a New York restaurant and Rintaro chef Sylvan Mishima Brackett will replace artichokes with bamboo shoots for a barigole treatment, braising the shoots for a spring-into-summer plate, and a green salad will feature produce from Russian River Organics dressed with local olive oil, Meyer lemon, and tamari that Harth and his team will make themselves from white beans. For beef, Harth is working with Oak Ridge Angus and Knights Valley Wagyu, both smaller producers, which lets the menu offer different steak cuts at various price points — for instance, steak frites will come with an entry-level option Harth aims to offer at $30, a mid-level option, and a high-end version depending on what the ranches supply; “Part of working with these producers is that you need to be flexible enough to be able to change what cuts you work with, [to] be able to learn how to work with different cuts,” Harth says. He takes pride in his burger, eschewing the smash trend for a “beefy bistro burger” that is, he warns, “not dainty”: a 7-ounce patty ground from brisket, chuck, and beef cheeks from Oak Ridge Angus, served with a griddled onion, a 50-50 mix of local white cheddar and Comté from France, on a brioche bun made by the team. The bread program includes baking brioche loaves, burger buns, and flatbread from the wood oven. Seafood plans include fire-roasted oysters with smoked garlic butter and McFarland Springs trout from TwoXSea in San Francisco served with asparagus; other wood-oven items will include a cassoulet duck confit and a spring onion gratin. For desserts, the mille feuille will highlight passion fruit from Brokaw Ranch paired with creme diplomat and fermented honey; a chocolate and benne seed cookie will bake in the wood oven to pick up smokiness and be served with vanilla ice cream; and a cheese tartlet will showcase cheese made by Vellain Sonoma with a custard made with dry jack cheese piped into a tartlet crust, topped with rhubarb jam and rhubarb pieces poached in elderflower syrup, finished with more grated dry jack and elderflowers. Cocktails will skew “no frills,” toward classics like a Last Word, Boulevardiers, martinis, daiquiris, and more, while the wine list will be split between local and French producers; nonalcoholic options include house cordials and syrups for sparkling water, elderflower and lemon verbena kombuchas, and some nonalcoholic wines from local producers. In conversations about the restaurant, Harth emphasizes using local ingredients and catering more to residents than tourists and avoiding the trap of offering only one high-end steak that leaves many feeling priced out; “We’re trying to be really value-driven,” Harth says. “I think nowadays it’s hard to say that it’s going to be cheap, but what you get for what you pay is going to be impressive.” The restaurant debuts Thursday, May 29, and will be open 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday to Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday; reservations are available via OpenTable." - Dianne de Guzman

Maligned Molti Amici Is Out. Bistro Lagniappe From Hype Oregon Chef Jacob Harth Is in. | Eater SF

"Celebrated Oregon chef Jacob Harth—who first earned attention for his 20-seat sustainable seafood tasting menu restaurant Erizo (which made Eater’s national Best New Restaurants list in 2019 and earned him Eater Young Gun recognition that same year), who starred in Eater’s Deep Dive video series, and who worked at one-Michelin-starred Oxalis and Michelin-listed Place des Fêtes—has opened a wood fire–driven California‑French bistro taking over the former Molti Amici/Campo Fina space at 333 Healdsburg Avenue; it debuts in late May 2025 while his sustainable‑seafood project Winnie’s continues its buildout. The team designed the concept for locals: "We’re trying to be aware of what it means to be a part of this community and be in Sonoma County," Harth says. "This restaurant really starts with our local community, and we’re making it an experience that’s for the locals." The menu is focused on local sourcing and straightforward preparations—"ingredient-driven, it’s high-quality product, [and] it’s minimalist preparation"—with nearly all ingredients coming from Sonoma County farms, ranches, and fishers. Harth emphasizes sourcing: "We’re exclusively sourcing from regenerative farms, [and cooking with] pasture-raised meats, grass-fed meats, line-caught fish from the Sonoma coast," Harth says. "So expect to see a lot of seafood that I’m kind of known for, but also everything else," he adds, name-checking a burger, steak frites, and roasted chicken as examples. The kitchen will reuse the wood-fired oven that anchored the previous pizza programs—Harth plans to use it to roast meats, fish, oysters, vegetables, cassoulets, and gratins—and an early menu lists mussels on the half shell straight from that oven dressed in sungold tomatoes and fig leaf; grilled trout in browned butter and summer squash; and clay pot rabbit with chanterelles and creme fraiche. The team has redecorated the space (bocce courts filled in to create more patio, now fortified with awnings to keep the area comfortable in 100-degree summers and rainy winters, plus new paint, fixtures, and furniture) to establish a distinct identity from the prior restaurants. The Molti Amici investor group remains involved as a limited partner and will not handle day-to-day operations; a high-profile February 2025 lawsuit in which co-owner Jason Cutrer accused Molti Amici founder Jonny Barr of fraud and embezzlement was dismissed, with Cutrer and Barr saying in a joint statement their issues are now "amicably resolved." - Dianne de Guzman

Great service, great cal french menu. Everything we ordered was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Nice wine list, good options by the glass. Back patio was nicely decorated, wood pizza oven cranking out nice flat breads. The summer onion comte gratin was out of this world. Good value.

Such a wonderful new addition to Healdsburg! The food and cocktails are delicious and the staff is very attentive and friendly. You know it must be a great place when there is a Last Word on the cocktail menu! Can’t wait to be back here.

This was a treat. Warm and friendly, with hospitable and attentive staff, and excellent food. We enjoyed very much the two special appetizers - the tomato mini tart and crepe with smoked black cod - as well as the puffy flatbread, and a hamburger. Dessert was good, too. Most of the tables around us were filled, and the atmosphere was convivial. We will definitely visit again.

Bistro Lagniappe is an absolute gem! From start to finish, our dining experience was exceptional. Julia took amazing care of us with warm and attentive service, and Ryan at the bar crafted a fantastic atmosphere with his skill and hospitality. The food was outstanding—each dish felt thoughtful and perfectly executed. The rye brioche with honey butter was the perfect start, light and flavorful. The grilled mussels in red miso butter were a creative twist that we couldn’t stop talking about. The burger, topped with sautéed onion, cheese, sauce Choron, and a crisp pickle, was rich, decadent, and easily one of the best in town. The steak frites with Béarnaise sauce (highlighting that perfect touch of tarragon) was classic French bistro fare at its finest. The wine pairings elevated the entire meal: a beautiful French Burgundy Pinot and a Cab Franc from the Loire Valley, both perfectly matched with the food. Every detail, from the ambiance to the service to the carefully curated menu, makes Bistro Lagniappe a place worth returning to again and again. A true 5-star experience!

Google
Good Happy Hour. Food is original and of French influence. The millefeuille is not your traditional millefeuille. The cocktail and wine on Happy hour were great. Good service, friendly staff. The big disappointment came with the bill. A wellness and health surchage (4%). When asked the waiter backpedaled and couldn't really explain it. I thought Healdsburg had gone away from all these extra charges!!!! What does that even mean "Health and wellness charge".

Lovely atmosphere and music. Limited food menu, but the quality was pretty good. You can assemble your own charcuterie tray. Good wine list with a varied range of prices and styles. Staff is super friendly.

Yelp
I love BistroLagniappe but I think they can do a little better. The summer vegetables, smoked mussels and steak frites were standout dishes. Perfectly executed. The pork chop, beef tartare, and stuffed squash blossoms were also impressive. The cassoulet was only okay. The butter beans were the best part but the dish felt more like the sum of its parts. Service was attentive and friendly. The patio vibes was off the chart cute and lively

Yelp
First time to this newish French bistro on main street of downtown Healdsburg in former location of Campo Fino. We both chose glasses of Pinot Noir, me a Pinot from Michel Sarrazin in Burgundy, France and my wife an Elevated Surface Pinot Noir from California. We began by sharing a Spring Onion Gratin with Comté and a wood fired flat bread. A delicious twist on ingredients found in French Onion Soup. For main couse, I went with the Lamb Cassoulet, with white beans, lamb ribs, and lamb sausage. Very tasty, but nothing like any cassoulet I have ever had in France. Shirley went with Trout, crispy skin, but unbeknown to Shirley, the filet was cooked medium rare, not nearly enough for Shirley. The filet actually looked raw to me. To finish, we shared a cheese, rhubarb tart. A great disappointment, you definitely taste the cheese, but hardly any rhubarb, and definitely not sweet. Our server was great, very friendly, and attentive. To her credit, she took, the cheese rhubarb tart off our bill. We were seated on the back terrace. We commented that this was probably the nicest terrace in Healdsburg. We will return but we will make sure we ask more questions about preparation and cooking of dishes.

Yelp
Came here on a hot Wednesday night. It was a bit warmer inside than we would have liked, but the service matched the temperature. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated promptly. Everyone that came to our table was incredibly inviting as well as knowledgeable about the menu with any questions we had. To starts, we ended up ordering their special Uni on toast, the lamb tartare, the stuffed squash blossoms, and their fries extra crispy. Everything came out pretty much at once which was nice. The standout appetizer had to be the stuffed squash blossoms. THE SAUCE IS TO DIE FOR and goes especially well with their fries. The lamb tartare was unique and didn't taste gamey. I'm not a big fan of uni in general but the toast was great and uni was as fresh as it could have been. For entrees, we ended up with the full order of mussels, the steak frites, the trout, the pork chop, and a few burgers. The burgers were nothing special with burnt buns and slightly overcooked meat. The steak frites we upgraded to the ribeye, and it was truly fantastic. I usually hate ordering steaks at restaurants since I know we can make better at home, but theirs was fantastically done and tasted pure. The trout was incredible as well with the delicious sauce and fresh summer vegetables accompanying it all. The pork chop as well was done well and had many components that complimented every flavor on the plate. We ended the night with their melon sorbet which was nice and refreshing especially in the heat of the day and place. Wanted to try their mille-feuille but my party was too stuffed to share it with me. Overall, great place that took over Molti Amici and plan on returning!

Yelp
Friendly service. Limited menu. Great outdoor dining. Enjoyed their Sunday pre fixe which included a rye brioche, green salad, roasted chicken, and a couple of desert options. We also added an order of razor clams. Everything was tasty. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Charming Bistro with excellent service! Gisele at the entrance was so welcoming with a beautiful smile. Our table on the cover patio was so lovely. The service by Hannah was professional and so friendly! The food was very tasty with excellent products! The rye brioche with cultured butter and the onion gratin with Comte was delicious. The main course with a lovely trout and the roasted chicken with supreme sauce and chanterelle a must! We eat in many restaurants but this one is a Gem A dinner to remember ... we will come back soon! Thank you to the chef and the team to bring this quality of Food

Yelp
Yum! Our family had a wonderful time there this evening. The menu wasn't that big- but the food was delicious. I regret not ordering more of the the oysters! I came hungry, so I ordered two small plates as my meal- the Spring onion gratin and Leeks, mushrooms in brown butter. They paired amazingly together. Both my kids loved their hamburgers. And my husband enjoyed his trout. The best part of the experience was the staff. Everyone was so kind! We'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
This place is Absolutely Fabulous! So nice to have a great staff and management back in this iconic Healdsburg location where we have all been years before and loved. Food was incredible. Had the Cremant bubbles, brilliant and great price. Best of the night was all the friendly staff and managers! BRAVO!!! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Just found this place and had an excellent dinner. Everything we ate, tuna crudo, steak tartare, pork chop, and steak frites, was excellent. The drinks were good too and normally priced for the area. Service was polite, attentive, and professional from the moment we got there until we left. I'd recommend this to anyone seeking French inspired food in the area.

Yelp
David was very friendly and Ryan the mixologist was attentive, and went above and beyond. My hamburger was tasty and my boyfriend's hanger steak was delicious and cooked to perfection.

Yelp
The food was delicious, but the service was lacking. There were 4 people in our group, and we ordered a variety of items to share. We wanted to start with drinks and appetizers, but were told everything had to be ordered together...including entrees. The waitress came back 8-10 minutes later and took our order. Everything came out at once and our small table was overflowing. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for.

Yelp
Food was great (burger, mussels, and salad all were nails, as was the wood fired bread and eggplant), drinks were perfect, service was on top of everything and friendly, and the outdoor space in back was perfectly spacious. Couldn't ask for more!
