"A New French Bistro in a Rejuvenated Neighborhood Le Valois was a great discovery not only for my palate, but also geographically. Hochelaga-Maisonneuve wasn't a neighborhood I had frequently visited, as it suffered from a sort of shady reputation. But efforts at revitalization (some would call it gentrification, but that's another topic entirely) have made the area more welcoming. Such efforts include Le Valois, one of the best French bistros in Montreal . I wish I could recommend one dish in particular, but in my party of four, everyone seemed to love their meal equally. I guess it's fair to say that everything on the menu is delicious. For those on a budget, Le Valois offers a 2-course late-night menu for just $20 after 9:30pm."

The Best French Restaurants in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Located in an art deco space in Hochelaga, La Valois’ menu offers options both traditional and inspired, from surf to turf. One of the more family-friendly locations on this list, there’s no shortage of dining space (its terrasse alone has 120 seats)." - JP Karwacki, Holly Tousignant

We tried Le Valois on the occasion of MTL a Table. The food was excellent! It's a 4-course menu and everything was delicious. We arrived early and were lucky to be served quickly at first. Then when the whole place was filled, we noticed a good delay in service. The servers are nevertheless smiling and check on us regularly. The only minus is the basic bread and butter (which was very good!) wasn't offered at first and we had to ask for it. As a French restaurant, we find that unacceptable. Overall we're surprised how affordable the prices are for such good food compared to other similar restaurants. We'd certainly come back to try other dishes.

Had an overall decent experience. The green salads are good but we all know it's a 2$ salad made into a 8$ salad but again it's good. The AAA burger was 24$ with fries but, it was excellent and well priced. The beef tartar was okay but nothing to call home about.

I've been living in the area for quite some time and always wanted to try this place, even though we can barely notice it. I finally did tonight, and I am very disappointed. Food is quite expensive for what it is, and not even good. 3 small goat cheese fried nuckets for $16? Come on! I also took the $24 burger, very disappointing. It doesn't taste much and something was very furry in my mouth, couldn't figure out what it was. Maybe the extra $3 bacon! We also shared a peach sangria... not bad but it basically tasted like juice, not sangria. Bummer. I wouldn't recommend this place. And I think that's a shame, because the location is great and the patio is quite big and enjoyable.

Nice restaurant. A little too noisy for diner with friends. It was difficult to have a conversation. Probably needs some sound panels on the ceiling to lessen the noise level. Waiter as excellent. I has the mussels n fries. A few of them were completely raw. Put them aside because seafood is very delicate. My sed feet was profiteroles and they were the best I ever taste!

Came here for MtlaTable and it was a great choice ! The service was impeccable! The staff were very nice and attentive. The food were scrumptious! Started off strong with shrimp/salmon ceviche and lobster mushroom flan. They were SO good. The pork belly and arctic char were cooked to perfection. And just when you think nothing could top of the previous dish, the desserts came. Their chocolate coffee delight is a MUST! 100% would recommend. Such a wonderful dining experience!

Great spot for brunch. Huge patio. Large portions. Yummy potatoes. Service was OK and food was flavourful. Should come back for dinner as well. Next to an open area where people sit and relax and enjoy the outdoors. Live music occasionally as well in the square.

It's an okay spot. I don't love and I don't hate it. The restaurant deco's and ambiance is nice but there's nothing extraordinary about the food. It's a practical place of its style to have in the area. Their wine list in quite broad. The entry door bangs pretty loudly when you're sitting to an adjencent wall to it.

Service was slow at times, but food was hearty while still being affordable. I sat on the patio that looks out into a lively town square/park, but the interior was quite beautiful as well. Recommend the Croque-Monsieur (see attached photos).
