The Best Burgers in Charleston

"Spring Street restaurant Bistronomy by Nico offers a French take on the burger on Monday nights. Made in limited numbers, the patties are formed from North Carolina-raised wagyu beef and topped with a generous amount of Gruyere cheese, caramelized onions, and cornichon ketchup. It’s best enjoyed with a glass of French red wine." - Erin Perkins

"Spring Street spot Bistronomy By Nico offers Parisian fare with an Asian twist. For example, the chic bistro serves a bouillabaisse, but it’s in a coconut broth with udon noodles. There’s also coq au vin with a tamarind jus and duck confit ramen. It’s something a little different than the classic French menus around town." - Parker Milner

Stephanie, our server, was excellent. Super friendly and nice. Everything was yummy. Appetizers of Baguette, Octopus and Bone Marrow were all delicious. Bartender drinks were spectacular & creative! Naked Fish and Short Ribs tastes great as well Wonderful meal visiting Charleston.

Google
Everything was excellent. “Naked Fish” dish and honey cake were amazing, and their drinks were great especially the “Tequila Salad”. Ambiance was relaxed and classy — perfect for dinner with my mom and aunt. Our server Shelly was phenomenal. If you’re someone who wants to get away from the chaos of King, and have a truly exceptional and enjoyable dinner this is your spot.

Phenomenal!!! Run don’t walk. The naked fish was fantastic. Bone marrow so good. The goat cheese spring rolls DIVINE! The brown butter old fashioned was next level amazing. Great service. We will be back.

We were worried at first when the restaurant was slow on a Saturday night but it got bustling! The patio had heaters (and fans when it’s warm) so it was very comfortable but the interior is a better environment. The food was overall good, but standouts were the ravioli starter, apple tart and short rib entree.

Google
The best dining experience in Charleston. Our server Luca and the rest of the staff really made our special dinner with my fiancé truly memorable. The food is excellent! I really enjoyed the appetizers such their tuna & rolls prepared in a french twist. The braised short rib is cooked perfectly and comforting to my palate. My fiancé ordered the scallops which is cooked perfectly which tasted really good! Definitely will be back. Chef Nico must be really be proud of what he created. Great job!

Google
Made a reservation 15 minute before arriving… 30mins before they closed and had 6 appetizers and 4 drinks in under an hour. Kristen and Chef Jim were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Hands down the goat cheese egg rolls stole the show. Sounds strange but wonderfully paired combo of flavors. Mussels and fries along with fresh baked baguette was *chefs kiss * Tuna crudo was a surprisingly delicious presentation and flavor profile. Such an unassuming location on a sleepy evening but so glad we popped in.

Google
Great food, service and atmosphere. The bartender was also our server and she did an amazing job. She gave us recommendations - the cheese spring rolls are delicious, curry crab soup a highlight, the burger and the scallops were solid and delightfully prepared. We finished with the table side crème brûlée. It was a wonderful meal and we’ll be back next time we’re in town!

Google
Bistronomy by Nico – a (not for long) hidden GEM 💎 $12 for a HUGE double patty wagyu burger (10000 billion/10 stars) + a super generous portion of equally delicious fries. Not only has the food been immaculate two weeks in a row, but the people and vibe are what make this place unbeatable… especially for Charleston. A genuinely authentic, kind, cool staff & environment. PLUS they have weekly specials Mon, Wednesday, Thursday, brunch on Sat & Sun, & happy hour every single day ✨

Yelp
This was our favorite Charleston restaurant. It is off the heavily tourist area but not too far away. It has a more relaxed atmosphere and not too noisy. The staff were excellent. We sat at the bar and marveled at the bartender, who happened to be pregnant, who was doing twirls while preparing drinks. A joy to watch. We started with the Tuna Crudo. I didn't get a picture of this one as my wife and I leapt right in and started eating. Even though jalapeños are in the dish, it is not spicy. The tuna with the watermelon and cucumber swimming in ponzu, sesame oil and sorghum was a delightful way to start the meal. My wife generally does not eat raw fish but she enjoyed this. My wife had the grouper special which she enjoyed and I had the scallops which were excellently prepared. Both of our dishes had the coconut rice & English peas. This alone was worth the meal. Topped with the proteins that were expertly done - awesomeness. We ended our meal with the deep dish creme brulee and the brownie desserts. The creme brûlée was bruleed at the table so that is fun. I forgot to talk about the drink - the buttered Old Fashioned - Excellent. For an excellent dinner - this is the place to go. It was also recommended by our Culinary Tour guide - Alice. Thank you for the tip!

Yelp
Bistronomy by Nico is fabulous. A bright restaurant slightly off the tourist path, but in easy walking distance Bistronomy was a very welcoming restaurant. I came in on a weeknight and was seated at the bar after a greeting that brought a smile to my face. Throughout the night the entire staff was extremely warm and gracious. People who were working at other parts of the restaurant would stop and strike up a brief conversation while filling a glass of wine or grabbing a cocktail. It just was lovely. I ordered the steak prepared medium rare and what an utter delight. It was cooked perfectly, was the best portion size, and utterly delicious. It just had enough salt to really capture the tasty meat. The hand-cut fries were spectacular too. I've been to plenty of restaurants that boosted about making their own fries and majority of the time the fries are limp and greasy. These were nice and crispy with a soft center - my fave! All in all a fantastic experience!

Yelp
Wonderful happenstance early Friday evening, we passed by their patio and thought, what about here?? They graciously opened up the patio for us, making it easy to have kids that could walk around in a contained area without disturbing too many patrons. The waitress walked us through the menu, loved the octopus appetizer, great recommendation! Dealers choice cocktail was a hit! Bartender was spot-on. Simple yet unique fare that let the dishes shine!

Yelp
The entire dining experience was spectacular. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive and highly professional. While we live 3 hours away, I am sure we will be back for another meal some time soon. The food was exceptional in preparation and flavor. I had the excellent mussels which came with french fries and I also ordered a serving of excellent crusty bread to sop up the wonderful sauce which had a mustard-y flavor. My husband had the appetizer ravioli which he enjoyed paired with his own order of fries. We wish our server had warned us that the desserts were huge. We would have only ordered one but we both enjoyed ours. I had the pear tart and he got the creme brûlée which they burned at our table much to our delight. As I said, I look, forward to going back next time we are lucky enough to visit Charleston.

Yelp
One Dish kept this from being a perfect meal Our waiter, (Dexter), was great. We started this meal with Mussels and frits. The frits was prefect vessel to soak up butter, coconut lime broth For our second appetizer we shared softshell crabs. This crab was served on a bed of corn, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers and gnocchi. The corn medley was so good, I think Nico should incorporate it into their daily menu. If I could do it over, I would have taken the option of adding a second softshell and made this my main dish. The wife's Scallops were perfectly cooked served on top of an excellent coconut rice with snap peas and a green curry beurre Blanc. My Duck L'Orange, was the single miss step in our meal. The dish was a bland and the duck slightly undercooked. Compare the picture I posted with this review, to the picture on Nico's Facebook page, and it is clear this isn't the same dish. We finished with 2 deserts: Mine was a very nice Crème brûlée that was fired table side.

Yelp
My sister and I took a quick trip to Charleston to handle some business matters. While staying in the French quarter, we stumbled across a Bistronomy. We weren't super hungry so we decided to just grab a couple of appetizers and a couple cocktails. As far as ambience, this place is cute and quaint with a modern feel and indoor/outdoor seating. I think it would make a nice date night. We ordered two cocktails, me an espresso martini and my sister, a peach martini. Both were good, but nothing particularly special. I'm also a fan of being given a choice to have Irish cream added to my espresso martini, that did not happen. For appetizers, we ordered the toasted French baguette and two Shrimp Dumpling Soups. I will say the broth of the soup had a wonderful spice to it with a subtle sweetness that was pleasing to the pallet. The dumplings however, needed some work. I tasted a lot of rice, some minced shrimp and I believe chopped ginger and water chestnuts. I've had steamed shrimp shumai several places that are delicious and would have been perfect in that soup. My sister did not like it at all. I thought it was decent, but not something I would order again. We both made the best of it and dipped our hot crusty bread in the broth to feel satiated. The desert choices didn't sound that intriguing, so we decided to skip dessert. All in all, I probably would skip this spot the next time I'm in Charleston because I'm told by locals there are so many other wonderful food choices.

Yelp
This is going to sound crazy but their beef carpaccio taste like old school pizza parlor pizza ... and I'm here for it! There is something about the berry hoisin that just gives me that familiar taste. My favorite thing has got to be the curry shrimp soup. I recommend getting a baguette to accompany the soup so you don't waste a drop. The goat cheese spring rolls left a little something to be desired, I wanted a little better ratio of the pickled veggies to cheese, but overall a great option for the goat cheese lovers. I was not a fan of the brussels sprouts, and I love brussels sprouts. I would like to see these have a better crunch, perhaps crispy bacon on them... I also did not feel they were cooked enough. The cocktails here are delightful. They taste great, and the presentation mimics a high-end cocktail bar.

Yelp
Reservations on Saturday for our 28th anniversary. With so many great dining choices in Charleston we hadn't gotten around to Bistronomy by Nico until this past weekend. Everyone was warm and attentive from our server to the manager who surprised us with complimentary sparkling wine for the occasion. Our entrees were so good. I made the reservation after seeing the duck with morels on the menu and it did not disappoint. We ordered everything on the dessert menu and while we couldn't finish it all, we really wanted to. The final special attention we were given was an anniversary card signed by the staff. I would come back just for the service but it helps that the food was wonderful too.

Yelp
Bistronomy is a lovely little spot in downtown Charleston. We discovered it by chance and were very happy to be able to snag a late reservation during a very busy weekend. Because we got a late reservation, I think it affected a couple of things so I want to say that this is probably a 5 star dining experience normally. And definitely a place I would return to on future trips. We ordered drinks and entrees, planned on dessert but by the end of the meal decided against it. The absolute star of the night and possibly the weekend (and we ate out A LOT) was the scallops large plate. It was perfection! The scallops were cooked perfectly and had a beautiful peppery finish. The green curry beurre blanc was so flavorful and a wonderful accompaniment to the rice and vegetables too. Just a gorgeous plate of beautiful food, we loved it. The Fish "en croute" large plate was our other choice and it was very good but lacked something. It could've used a touch of salt or acid. We think maybe because we were a late reservation perhaps the dish was rushed or maybe something just got forgotten. Overall still really nice and we liked the butter "crust" element, The service was friendly and professional but we felt very rushed after our entrees were delivered so we decided against coffee or dessert, I would definitely recommend Bistronomy, a creative and thoughtful menu

Yelp
Really liked this place! It had unique menu items and very fun drinks. The baguette appetizer was the best baguette I've ever had. We got that along with the tuna tartare and for my entree I got the bourride. Everything was super good. I would recommend for a fun night with friends or a date night

Yelp
Holy French Food!!!!! I attended one of their Mercy of the Chef wine pairing dinners and it literally made my whole trip! We were seated at the bar and started with a baked Brie dish, the wine that was paired was amazing as well. The second course was their take on a French onion soup with a Gruyère spring roll. The third course was a Dijon chicken with potatoes, string beans and a mushroom gravy. And finally, a chocolate pot de crème. All wine was poured heavy and the bartender was able to answer all and every question regarding the varietals and flavors. The restaurant is reminiscent of a French bistro and the staff is truly phenomenal. I would 150% recommend this dining experience to anyone looking for a date night or to impress someone special!

Yelp
After the success of Nico in Mount Pleasant I have been dying to try Bistronomy. Even though I wasn't in love with his Summerville restaurant Laura on first visit, they have cleaned up some things and improved a lot since the first time I ate there shortly after they opened. Bistronomy has been open for a while, but I have to say...for the most part I was disappointed. The service was great - the wait staff was very attentive and kind, plus the food came out in a timely fashion. The plates, however, were not what I was hoping. The star of the night was easily the short rib, as I could drink the sauce it came with by the gallon. Absolutely no complaints there! The brown butter old fashioned was also delicious, if a little heavy on the ginger. The issues came with a few of the small plates. The escargot dumplings didn't have much flavor outside of shrimp and butter. We actually ended up sending it back. The mussels were good, as were the fries they were paired with, but (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the portion was too much for the size of the mussels we got. That's a nitpick, but man was that a ton of mussels. The baguette was fine. The octopus was extremely chewy, and sure, it's octopus so some chewiness is expected but this seemed extreme. I did enjoy the creme brulee but the portion was so large - again, a nitpicky complaint. I should probably come back again to give it another chance, but our bill was over $200 so I might have to wait a while. Since I love Nicos in Mt P I probably will come back.

Yelp
Service was great, sat at the bar. Food was good, but nothing I need to go back for. The Beef Tartare has a very unique flavor (if you close your eyes it tastes like pizza! I kid you not. Maybe pepperoni oil is used? Couldn't put my finger on it). Goat cheese egg rolls were crispy on the outside and warm smooth goat cheese on the inside (these were probably my favorite of the 5 items we tried). Pricey, but we knew that going in so not a negative mark necessarily.

Yelp
Wish I would have taken a picture prior to eating....ill be honest it was so good I just kept eating and then it dawned on me I should have taken a picture!! I will include a stock photo so you can see what it looked like before I inhaled it all. What a great find....visiting from out of state. This place is just a little off of King street (3 blocks). Sat under the outdoor patio, very quaint and clean. Small menu but excellent quality of food. I had the SCALLOPS with coconut rice & english peas, snap peas & corn, green curry beurre blanc. It was outstanding!! The service was amazing. The gal (horrible that I didn't get it..she has red hair and is a little button) was fantastic! I also had the blueberry mocktail, very refreshing. Not one complaint.

Yelp
I had a friend coming to visit and wanted to plan a fun dinner while she was here. I hadn't been to Bistronomy yet, but have always been a fan of Nico all the way back to the Fish days on King St. I saw Christine from Lowcountry Eat Out post about the Mercy of the Chef dinners on Thursday and checked it out. After confirming with my friend that she was a seafood fan, I booked a couple spots for that Thursday night. Mercy of the Chef basically translates to a tasting dinner with what's available to the kitchen that day for fresh catch and seasonal veggies. The price was $75 per person (plus tip) for 4 courses and it included wine pairings with each dish. Honestly, $75 is a great deal for what you get and I would absolutely come back again. The plating looked like a five star restaurant on some of the dishes and the service was top notch. Each dish came out as a surprise and the bartender gave us a vivid explanation of the dish and made sure we had our next wine... she was fantastic. The servers dropping the dishes were also happy to answer any questions. Everyone doing the dinner all sat at the bar together while other diners filled the rest of the tables in the restaurant. It started at 6pm so there was lots of light coming through the big glass windows, but by the time we finished it was getting dark and we were ready to hit the town... especially after a few glasses of wine. We started with a cocktail each (not included in the dinner) and waited for the first course. It happened to be a take on a miso soup that was so flavorful and had the best tofu I've ever had... so tender. The next course was a small plate of grouper croquettes. These were actually very filling and could have been less than three, but delicious nonetheless. Then came the main course of lobster ravioli with morel mushrooms. This dish was bursting with flavor and the morel mushrooms had a big umami flavor. This was absolutely a 10/10 dish. Then for dessert we had the chefs take on a banana split which was definitely the most beautiful dish of the night. It started with the banana and ice cream base but also had edible flowers, crunchy ramen noodles, pistachios, and chili threads. Such a mix of textures and flavors. I was initially disappointed to not see something chocolate coming out for dessert, but that quickly changed after the first bite. After dinner there was no rush to leave as we finished our wine, paid our bill, and even chatted briefly with the chef who curated our amazing meal that evening. I can't wait to try more of the menu at Bistronomy, but I keep raving to everyone about this coursed dinner so I think I need to come back and try it again first. It's only on Thursdays and only for a limited time so check it out while you can.

Yelp
Great food if you like seafood. we ordered the rice as a side but that was not necessary as it was also part of the main dish. make reservations just in case but it wasn't crazy.

Yelp
What a great gem of a restaurant, we enjoyed almost everything we had! The only unfortunate dish was a special (not on menu) of wild mushrooms. They must have not been fresh that day, and were so off putting we left the whole plate. They didn't ask if anything was wrong with the dish. I knocked off a star for those mushrooms. Everything else we had was tasty and cooked really well. The frogs legs were in a delicious sauce, the fish was cooked properly, chicken was moist, and dessert was tasty too.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. SO GOOD!! The bread is phenomenal. The scallops are to-die-for! My niece got the steak frites, and this dish was also amazing! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
The wife wanted to try this place, and we're so glad we did! It's a somewhat small/calm spot with relaxed vibes. The staff were friendly and engaging. The scallops over coconut rice is absolutely magical. One of the most delicious meals I've had in a while!

Yelp
Came into Charleston for business this week. I kept looking at top restaurants to go to, and the usuals came up that have been around town for decades.... Been there done that. I wanted to try something I haven't tried before. I was then craving a burger and I searched best burger in Charleston and immediately Bistronomy By Nico came up! They have their special wagu burgers only on a Monday night and it was a Monday night so me and my husband decided we should try it. Best decision we have made. We wanted to sit at the bar and the most lovely bartender/ server greeted us with such a warm welcome. Me and my husband ordered the brown butter washed old fashioned and our server asked if we would like to place our order or just enjoy our drinks for a little bit. Right then I knew this was going be a great evening! We were in no rush, and she let us know she was not either. She let us enjoy our drinks and paced out everything we ordered so perfectly. We started off with goat cheese spring rolls, which she recommended... AMAZING! Do not skip these spring rolls! We then ordered ravioli to share... again her recommendation and the dish was perfection!! We of course had to try the Wagu burger. Definitely top 2 burgers both my husband and I have ever had! To be honest we were full at this point but I couldn't leave without trying their desserts! We ordered espresso and crème brûlée! It was fabulous and a perfect way to end our evening. This restaurant is a gem! I highly recommend anyone to try it! The atmosphere, service and food were outstanding! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Best place we ate in Charleston! This is tucked down a side road but worth finding. The atmosphere is lovely, staff super friendly and helpful with suggestions and the owner Gina was nice to stop by and visit with us. Kristin was our bartender and gave us excellent suggestions - she was amazing We started with Passion of the yuzu and a Negroni made with Vida mezcal. Frog legs fried to perfection in butter (hadn't eaten in ages and they were awesome). The real star for appetizers was the beef carpaccio- THIS was one of the best dishes we've ever eaten and that saying a lot - thin strips of beef with a spicy vinaigrette, frisée, manchego cheese and fried wonton strips - delicate with a kick. For dinner we both had the Wreckfish - a cousin of the grouper and bass, it's sweet and flaky with a little tooth (pun intended) for sure the best fish we had in Charleston and anywhere for that matter in a long time. This is the whole package - ambiance, wonderful staff, spectacular food and cocktails. Definitely check this place out!!!

Yelp
The coconut rice, flounder and baguette was phenomenal. My husband said the flounder was the best he's had. The mussels were just okay, the broth they were in was very bland and left me hoping for more. It's generally my favorite part of I order mussels somewhere but this was bland and thin. I wouldn't get them again. My friend also got them and only finished about half and she didn't love them either. My only frustration, and maybe this is a thing now, is that the server in front of our friends asked if we just wanted to split it down the middle. My husband felt incredibly uncomfortable and just said yes... so while we were trying to be mindful of our spending we ended up covering half of our friends 3 glasses of wine, 2 bowls of soup, two apps a petite plate and a main plate while we ordered just one beer 2 petite plates and a main. It was pretty lopsided but we were still asked and out of his uncomfortable-ness he said "that's fine." Even if that's a norm, there has to be a better way to ask that doesn't back one group into a corner. Asking if it's separate checks seems much more appropriate. My husband still tipped well even though the bill was much more than we really were intending to spend. Anyone see Friends, "5 steaks and an eggplant?" Yeah... just choose words that don't make it incredibly uncomfortable to just pay for your own meal. And in a small table of 2 couples I feel like this shouldn't be that hard. It left us both feeling heavy about the night. The only shared app we got was the baguette and it was pretty obvious. I didn't take pictures because this was our first time out with these friends and I didn't know if they would find it rude.

Yelp
Very nice French bistro. Sat at the bar with my wife and ordered a variety of appetizers. Get the scallops and octopus.

Yelp
We love the Nico group and have been to all his restaurants many times, including for wonderful special events such as Bastille Day. Nico is a great chef and a marketing genius. Amazingly small and stupid mistake by the establishment - and its refusal to apologize! - has led to our sad decision never to return. I was charged $26 for a cocktail, when every cocktail on the menu is $12 to $16, and when I pointed this out, I was told that somehow the drink I ordered contained twice the alcohol. Maybe, but I certainly was not informed by the waitress, and my cocktail is a pretty standard one (a Manhattan). I know, I know, this seems really petty - but there is no way Nico himself would put up with this. His staff has become arrogant, possibly in response to his down-to-earth manner. It's not just about the food. The experience matters.

Yelp
Simply loved this meal. We walked in on a Monday and we're seated inside but outside is covered if desired. Our server was kind and attentive and the space is pretty. They do a burger night on Mondays that we didn't end up getting but it sounded amazing. We started with the baguette and let's just say it's worth the $5. Maybe some of the better bread service we've ever had. For our meals we got the short rib and fresh catch. Both were so light and perfectly cooked. We loved the fresh vegetables and sauces that were paired with each. The meal ate clean and delicate and so so yummy. We finished off our meal with the tableside creme brûlée and just like everything else it was delicious. Can't wait to go back and try their brunch.

Yelp
Brunch is on your husband? Count me in!!! A group of 4 of us made reservations for Sunday brunch. The morning of it was determined only two of us could make it. We still went of course and had a great time. It wasn't that hot out yet so our reservations in the courtyard worked out great. They have a large drink menu that includes cocktails, beer, wine, and even a couple brunch specific cocktails. I started off with the passion of the yuzu, a tequila cocktail. It was fantastic!!! So I had another! I ended with another tequila drink called the tequila salad. I shouldn't have switched. The second one tasted mostly like pepper and cucumbers only. For food we shared the goat cheese spring rolls, farm salad, and Benedict brunch tartine. The spring rolls were creamy and the dipping sauce was sweet. The salad was great with a variety of pickled veggies. I love pickled veggies!! The Benedict was the least successful for me. I expected a lot more flavor from the sauce and wish the toast would have been crispy and buttery but it wasn't. The server let us know that the eggs were six minute eggs, not poached because we pointed out that the whites were inedible. We had pushed them to the side of the plate to keep them out of the way! Even with one dish being a fail, and one drink not a winner, I'd go back for more. Parking on the street was easy. The food prices are reasonable. If you don't drink, two of you could enjoy a meal for $40-$50. Now with three drinks a piece, our bill together was 3 times that, but I would still go back and do it again. Cheers!!!!

Grace L.

Yelp
I came back for a second time... PHENOMENAL. This establishment will never disappoint. Our server Mike A. did a fabulous job. He was very accommodating and patient with all us girls! And Kristen did an amazing job bartending. She cares so much about creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. Well done! I will never get enough of Bistronomy!

Yelp
We stumbled in here without a reservation on a Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching the jovial bartender twirl and stir her cocktails. We ordered an excellent buttery Old Fashioned and glass of Cab. Add to that a well-prepared, flavorful Coq Au Vin, Pom frites, plus tasty crème brûlée and we were in heaven. But the fun part was watching the mixologist master ballerina pirouette. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
We've been to the other 2 concepts by Nico so we had to come try number 3. (Laura is Italian - Summerville, Nico's seafood - Mt. Pleasant) both were good. Bistronomy is small, cute rustic place that has great outdoor seating. We made a reservation on a Tuesday night but I don't think you really need it for a week day. Our server/bartender (Colby? I think was his name) very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. The staff are all very helpful as well. We got the baguette and goat spring rolls. Crispy, rich, creamy with a hint of sweetness. Kinda reminds me of an elevated crab Rangoon and the bread was nicely made. For dinner we went with the short rib, and seafood Bouillabaisse and fries. The short rib was very tender and flavorful, came over mash and sliced asparagus and Demi glaze. Pretty classic dish, can't say it was anything out of the ordinary but overall a good tasting dish. I was really excited about the bouillabaisse, the seafood was cooked well. It has squid, mussels, shrimp, fish with udon noodles. I do wish the broth had more flavor and salt since it had all that seafood in it I was expecting a bit more depth and a hint of citrus would've elevated it for me. The manager or kitchen gave us complimentary mussels which was so nice! Thank you! Overall the service was great and food was good.

Yelp
Stefan was our server. We went in for Last minute Mother's Day reservations. They have sound absorbing panels on the ceiling which made the ambience that much softer. We had good seats until it started getting busier and someone had to sit next to us. The food was amazing. Wasn't crazy about the pickled veggies that came with the cheese spring roll but it was just. a new take on mozzarella sticks. I tried the omelet which was delish. My steak and eggs were great. That ketchup though. Fries served with everything and the ketchup tasted like lemon infused Heinz 57. I did not like it one bit. Other than thar everything was great.

Yelp
Wonderful dinner with friends - I enjoyed the beef bourguignon and we split some of the smaller plates as well. Wine selection was nice and the brown butter old fashioned was tasty. Service was great and attentive. Recommended!

Yelp
I had such a great date night here with my lady. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get a seat at the bar without a wait. Props to executive chef, Jim O'Connor. A well curated menu that did not disappoint!

Yelp
Neighborhood Gem! They take reservations and had several openings for the bar area as the tables were all reserved. I don't mind sitting at the bar and for the most part it was wide open. I think there was only a couple other people that sat at the bar the whole time we were there. And the bar ran most of the length of the restaurant so it was sizable. We had plenty of space at the bar, never felt rushed and enjoyed our time watching and talking to the bartender. Plus, we got our drinks fast. Bonus! For dinner... we started with the smoked duck dumplings. Delicious! The dumpling wrapper was light and crispy, but the duck inside was savory and sinful. It just melted in your mouth. For my main... I continued the duck theme and went with the duck a l'orange which was served with hearty lentils. The lentils were reminiscent of the ones that my grandmother would make ... so it's definitely a comfort dish for me in that it brings fond memories. The duck was perfectly prepared. The hubby got the fish of the day where he selected coconut rice and mushrooms as his sides. You wouldn't think those would go with fish, but they did. That coconut rice... WOW! They have a lovely wine list, and their pricing is very reasonable (IMO).

Yelp
We went to the Chef's Tasting last Thursday and the experience was stellar! Delicious food, fabulous service, beautiful atmosphere, wonderful wine pairings. A friend treated me for my birthday. We were both thrilled with the evening and are looking forward to a return visit.

Yelp
Incredible dinner and service! It's pricy, but totally worth it! Great drinks too. Order the goat cheese spring roll as an app. I wanted three more plates of them! I got the BEEF BOURGUIGNON for my entree and it was mind blowingly amazing. I can't say enough great things about it. The ambiance is nice but tables are real close and cozy.

Yelp
This was our finale dinner in Charleston!!! It was the best meal that I've had in a while, and definitely the best meal in Charleston! Another chef we encountered recommended that we try it, as we were out walking. We standouts that we ordered the mussels, scallops, and escargot dumplings. Every bite was incredible! The cocktail menu was cute and creative too!

Yelp
Our experience at Bistronomy by Nico, under the culinary guidance of Head Chef Jim O'Connor, was nothing short of extraordinary. Despite the bustling New Year's Eve atmosphere, the flavors served were out of this world, each dish perfect in both taste and presentation. What set this evening apart was the personal touch; even on such a busy night, Chef Jim took a moment to step out, greet us, and ensure our culinary experience was exceptional. At the bar, Kristen exuded energy and friendliness. Her vibrant presence added to the overall warmth of the atmosphere. Nick's extensive knowledge of wines was not only impressive but paired seamlessly with his ability to make us feel like the sole focus of his attention in a crowded room. It's not just about the incredible food; it's about the people who make the experience memorable. Bistronomy boasts a team that goes beyond providing amazing flavors; they genuinely care about creating a remarkable dining experience. Our New Year's Eve celebration was elevated by not only the delicious dishes but also the hospitality and warmth of the staff. It was an unforgettable evening that reflects the passion and dedication of Bistronomy's team. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
This place is such a cute hidden gem. It looks like a French restaurant tucked into the neighborhood. The food was some of the best food I've had in a while. The bread was a great surprise. It was so soft with a buttery garlic filling. So soft and moist. The scallops paired with coconut rice was so good. The coconut rice was creamy and delightful. I enjoyed all of my food at Bistronomy. The vegetables cooked to perfect tenderness. I cannot wait to go back to try more dishes!

Yelp
Wonderful food. Very diverse menu and everything was delicious. Tomato and burrata cheese, beef carpaccio, shrimp/escargot dumplings and the bouillabaisse. Alex our server was so helpful and attentive. Charming and peaceful restaurant tucked away in a charming neighborhood off king street. Would recommend and looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
Finally got around to this spot & so glad I did! We enjoyed a cozy Christmas Eve dinner at the bar with Kristen. All of the cocktails we tried were fantastic, but the Bee Stoned, Burn Sage was insanely good! Our favorite menu items were the Beef Carpaccio, Goat Cheese Spring Rolls, Escargot & the Seared Foie Gras. The staff was exceptional, especially Kristin. Can't wait to dine here again!

Yelp
What a great place. We had goat cheese spring rolls scallops and short ribs. Every dish was well composed, extremely well made and very tasty. And, on top of it all our server, Casey, was fantastic. Easily in the top 10 servers ever. If i ran a restaurant, I'd recruit her to train staff - she was that good. The only slight criticism is the cream brûlée... good portion size and technically well made, just somehow kinda bland. But, it's a minor thing considering the overall experience.

Yelp
We are regular customer's of Bistronomy in downtown Charleston. We usually sit at the bar, the food is always wonderful, and what make's the dinning, drinking experience is the bartender Christine. Alway delightful, happy and her mood is contagious, like a shot of sunshine on a dreary day. Highly recommend the food and drinks. John & Ann

Yelp
Bistronomy is a lovely representation of downtown cuisine. My husband and I visited a few nights ago and we're not disappointed. They had wonderful options that showcased their variety and range as a restaurant and the staff were all knowledgeable and passionate about their business. We tried several dishes and each had their own merit. -The Tuna Crudo was such a lovely opener. The fresh and light feeling along with the natural flavor was delicious. -Then we sampled the Baguette which was fresh with the perfect texture and it was accompanied by Provençal butter and black salt which gave it such an unctuous flavor. -The mussels and fries were next and it was such a delightful plate to share. Plenty for each to get a share and the broth was savory and comforting. -Our final plate was the Stuffed Quail with rice. The birds were so decadent and wonderfully seasoned with stuffed sausage inside. All of this wouldn't be complete without expert drink pairings from the bar. They have an extensive selection of spirits and wine. We decided to try the Live Lav Lux and the Brown Butter-Washed Old Fashioned. We are so pleased with our visit and it was absolutely indulgent. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Greeted and sat at the bar immediately upon entering. Bar tender was friendly and courteous, clearly taking the time to chat with each guest. She had drink and food recommendations. We loved the baguette appetizer. Food came out quick and fresh. We had mussels and duck ramen. So delicious-the pork belly was my favorite in the ramen dish. Our drinks were also good-I had the passion of the yuzu and it was mixed well, a great addition to the food. We passed on dessert although their options sounded amazing. All staff was chatty and friendly.

Yelp
Tuna starter and spring rolls are amazing! Lovely, helpful people. Nice neighborhood restaurant.
