Wild Honey - Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"Business meetings tend to be pretty boring. That’s because, generally speaking, you’re not allowed to discuss important topics like Cute Dogs You Saw Online and Pete Davidson’s relationship status at work. We think that’s a shame, but the fact remains that you need a particular atmosphere and setting if you’re going to have a successful business meeting in a restaurant. An atmosphere and setting exactly like the one you’ll find at Wild Honey, a restaurant that feels like it was born to impress clients, one perfect St James Fizz cocktail at a time. One of the reasons why this all-day restaurant inside the Sofitel hotel in St. James’s is peak business meal material is because it’s willing to work around your schedule. You can swing by for some french toast in the morning, hit up the £35 three-course set menu at lunchtime, or opt for a full tasting menu situation in the evening with that client who you need to trap for at least two hours to ensure they sign that contract. Big smiles and corporate cards, initiated. It’s polite, the food is reliable, and once you look around, you’ll realise that you’re basically in the world’s chic-est velvet padded cell. There’s very little about this setting that’s wild–we’ve never come across this much tan leather and gold detailing at a Strokes gig–but the space does remind us of honey. Partially because it’s all very smooth, but mostly because there are servers walking around shaving actual fresh honeycomb into people’s ice cream. See, impressive. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli This place serves an ever-changing seasonal menu, but you can expect things like Scottish partridge with apricots and sage, beef cheek ravioli, and roast heritage beetroot with black pudding. As well as sounding interesting, a lot of the food here sounds like it should have its own family crest. Don’t believe us? Well, all we’re saying is that if someone offered us a stay with The Provencal Figs or The Cornish Sardines, we’d pack our Sunday best and expect tennis courts. But, most importantly, a lot of this food is also very tasty. We’ve had a burrata here that we almost gave a slow-clap, not to mention some Welsh lamb with sheep’s ricotta that made us reassess whether we’d be happier people if we relocated to the Brecon Beacons. The thing is, if you come here and have a bad business meal, it’ll be because you left your laptop at home and attempted to display this quarter’s numbers through interpretive dance. Sure, it’s all a little too serious for a banging birthday party or a charming date night, but otherwise it’s very hard to go wrong at Wild Honey. The service is enthusiastic and attentive. The setting is sleek and entirely inoffensive. And if all else fails, there’s the ultimate power move of ordering the Fallow venison, which, rumour has it is, was spotted out and about with Pete Davidson. Just don’t bring that up during the meeting. Food Rundown Full Vegetarian English Breakfast We’ve tried the Full English here, but there was something about the sweet potato and cauliflower hash that has worked its way into that part of our brain purely reserved for great vegetable dishes. Our Ocado lobe if you will. A great way to start your day. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Burrata, William Pears, Nasturtium Leaves, Herb Oil Vinaigrette, Dukkah Spice Perfectly tasty. Perfectly creamy. And a perfectly good way to begin a meal here. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Hand Cut Macaroni, Cacio E Pepe, Chicken Wings Some people, herein referred to as ‘the haters’, might say that chicken wings and cacio e pepe macaroni don’t belong on the same plate. The haters are wrong. This is a tasty starter that we’d definitely eat as a main. Classic Bouillabaisse Marseille Style Constructing this classic Bouillabaisse is pretty fun. Eating it is less so. The fish is excellent, but we wouldn’t hate it if the broth had a little more kick from the rouille. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Daphne’s Welsh Lamb, Roast Salsify, Fresh Sheep’s Ricotta, Italian Greens We have a lot of questions. Good ones, like ‘who is Daphne?’ and ‘when can we marry her?’. This lamb is pink and tender, plus it goes with the ricotta an absolute treat. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Wild Honey Ice Cream, Fresh Honey Unlike that dramatic memory of dropping your Mr Whippy as a child, this dramatic fresh honey situation is very lovely. They come to your table with a big old chunk of honeycomb from the Cotswolds and carve it into your ice cream. Twelve quid feels a bit steep for such a small portion, but all in all it’s worth it. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli Warm Chocolate Soup, Toasted Rice Ice Cream Toasted rice can sometimes sadly look like a little bit like, well, err, maggots. That’s just a fact of life. But this chocolate heavy dessert is all the better for some crunch. Basically, a thick chocolate mousse that’ll put your Dairy Milk yoghurt pot to shame." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

The best resto I went in London! THE BEST⭐️ Service, food, and vibe are all perfect. Especially, Shout out to "Eliza" who was the most considerable I met in London. We had a small talk and always checked my water and come to pour for me. Even their to-go box was super cute with bumble bee🐝 I will come back for sure and other lovely dishes:)

Located in a beautiful grand building, the room and decor here are truly impressive. However, our experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We spent 2-3 hours dining and unfortunately dealt with flies around our table the entire time, which really needs to be addressed. While the staff were friendly, the service felt inadequate for an upscale restaurant. It was slow and inattentive, and we had to pour our own wine after reminding them of the order once food had already arrived. As for the food, the fish soup was delicious and well-received, though the vegetarian filo pie was a bit too tough and rich for my taste. The prix fixe menu is very cost-effective and worth trying. Despite the critiques, I would return to give Bistrot at Wild Honey another chance, even if it was just to enjoy the amazing setting again.

The food here is absolutely delicious. Unctuous beautifully cooked traditional French bistro food. Yes it’s expensive but I’d rather pay more for those amazing flavours. I highly recommend the fish soup and rabbit casserole. Save your pennies by specifying tap water and there is a good selection of wines by the carafe. I think the conundrum is the setting is glamour and glitz and sadly not very busy/lacking atmosphere at lunch. If this food was served in Farringdon it would be fully booked.

If you want to experience true French-inspired elegance in the heart of London, Bistrot is the place to be. From the moment we arrived, we felt like welcomed guests thanks to Vikki, whose warmth, charm, and attentiveness created an atmosphere that instantly put us at ease. She transformed a great dinner into an unforgettable evening. The menu is pure artistry, led by a Michelin-starred chef whose passion is evident in every bite. The Rabbit with Shallots was simply extraordinary – tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Steak was melt-in-your-mouth perfection, cooked to absolute precision and bathed in a rich, aromatic sauce. We also couldn’t resist the Burger with Spiced Fries – juicy, indulgent, and impossible to put down. Every dish felt like a celebration of flavor, from presentation to the very last bite. Dining here is not just about eating – it’s about savoring an experience. Bistrot combines world-class cuisine, a welcoming atmosphere, and impeccable service in a way that will make you want to return again and again.

. 1st time in the Sofitel since Wild Honey moved in. Went to Bistrot where we had a lovely good value lunch from the set menu. Our waitress recommended a tarte tatin that was not on he menu which was absolutely superb. The experience was improved by sitting adjacent to two world class rugby players and the chef Anthony Delametre came over to say hello. Would recommend to all.

The waitress was friendly but clearly on her first day — pleasant enough, though not well briefed. The maître d’, meanwhile, was more brilliantined than brilliant, swanning around the dining room as if hired to charm rather than to ensure the restaurant actually ran smoothly. The sparkling water arrived flat and room temperature. It was replaced — with another bottle exactly the same. The soup that followed was tepid. We were assured this was “correct”; perhaps so in Italy, but in London, on a cold wet Tuesday, it’s less “authentic” and more dispiriting. The cottage pie appeared with a top so overcooked it resembled a lacquered Japanese cabinet. The maître d’ assured me it was “looking delicious!” Inside, however, all joy had been baked out — a dry, sticky mass that might once have aspired to comfort food. The accompanying “salad” was overdressed to the point that Dame Edna would have blushed. We called a truce at that point and asked for the bill. While the prices were low, I can’t help but feel we paid the price in other ways. This is not in the same league as Wild Honey proper and should not share the name. It’s a small, brightly lit hotel foyer space that happens to serve food — of sorts.

A warm and friendly welcome at Anthony Demetre's bistro next to his Michelin 🌟 restaurant in Pall Mall. We were fortunate to meet the chef ourselves who talked through the menu of the day and other delicacies. Elena and Harry gave us excellent service above and beyond the expected. The food was delicious and most memorable 😋 Thank you, Anthony, and team.

A wonderfully warm welcome from Vicky set the tone for a fantastic evening. The prix fixe is an absolute steal for food of this quality and portion size. If you are especially hungry start with ‘today’s wine’ and delicious croquettes. The bread is brilliant too. The white wine selection is interesting and even the least expensive was great. The gazpacho with Andalusian flavours was spot on and courgette flowers with spiced rice equally so. After generous and rich mains (spaghetti with tomatoes but so much more interesting than that sounds)and cottage pie, French-style, there wasn’t really room for dessert. But we will back for clafoutis! Wonderfully comfy banquettes and chic lighting but the real star of the evening was the very charming and kind Vicky.
