For our last evenings in Geneva, I craved a steak, preference French. How could I miss with a restaurant called "Red Beef Bistro"?
He was booked that night and he would have to get back to me for the next night (my last!)
The best things happen when it is unexpected. I stopped by at the end of their lunch service and he apologized for not getting back to me yet, but YES, we could come early that evening. BTW, at 15:00, there was not an empty seat.
The bistro is a "Lyonnaise" restaurant, family owned for 34 years. Chalked up on the board was the statement "La Chasse!" (The Hunt!) In addition to the usual offerings was a full panoply of wild game: pheasant, venison, wild boar and more. What a wonderful meal we had, these fresh, wild meats prepared and served so beautiful and tasty. Service was impeccable and everything was priced so fairly. The kindness of the staff, not just to us, but to the numerous walk-ins and phone requests for a table we're so apologetic and gracious having to say "non désolé".
This was our favorite meal of our holiday, which included quite a few Michelin ** meals. I'll have a steak when I get back to Los Angeles.
