New Vietnamese Restaurant Dat Aliis Lands in Little Italy | Eater Montreal

"The nearby pub is co-hosting Le Marché Spectaculaire with Fleurs et Cadeux, bringing together indoor artisan stalls and outdoor food and drink offerings—hot cider and yakitori—to bridge the short outdoor route between the two venues." - Valerie Silva

Google
In one word - AWESOME 👍🏼 very inviting restaurant, great service by our weighter - Vencen (hope I pronounce the name properly). the foi gras for the entry was delicious, gentle and full of flavours. For the main we went for Migrant dea Canary and antricot steak, both great choice, especially the Migrant de Canary. the desert was surprising to see creme brule with pistachio. As stated earlier, just awesome. reasonable price (see attached picture), nice atmosphere, what else can you ask in a cole Parisian evening. Will come back again, no question.

Google
We walked past this place and thought we'd give it a try. Turned out to be an excellent decision! The food and service both were on point. The chocolate lava cake was probably the best we've had in a long long time... so good! Highly recommended if you're in the area

Had a great dining experience here. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the ravioli had an abundance of flavour. Drinks were solid. The pavlova, and crème brûlée were delicious! Service here was good, and the atmosphere was friendly and easy going. Decent prices as well. You don’t need a reservation, so I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

For our first jet lagged night in Paris, we couldn’t have lucked out more dining here. From the ambience, to the welcoming staff and the incredible food, you can tell the restaurant takes such care and pride in what they do! The star of our show was the ravioli, the whole table agreed! I quite enjoyed the creamy onion soup as well and the steak was cooked perfectly! Thank you, thank you! We will be back next time, au revoir! PS, someone mentioned no English menu, although not physical, there’s a QR code to scan for English 💗

Google
Staff at our hotel recommended this place. So glad we listened. Friendly and accommodating staff. All food was delicious. Had a great experience here.

Google
Le Poincaré Restaurant delivers an exceptional dining experience with outstanding cuisine that truly stands out. The dishes are expertly prepared, showcasing high-quality ingredients and meticulous attention to detail. While the service can be slightly slow at times, the quality of the food more than compensates, making it well worth the wait. Overall, Le Poincaré is a fantastic choice for those seeking a memorable culinary experience.

Google
4.5 Pros: seriously good food that’s unique Cons: service was slow, wine was ok and water classes had pieces stuck to it We had the burrata salad which was amazing, the creamy onion soup which I thought was ok but hubby loved. For main course I had the truffle chicken which looked surprisingly like a sausage but was very good and hubby had the duck which I thought was way too chewy and raw. The sauce of the duck was amazing though. Perfect portion size. Chablis was lacking the crispness. We ordered our appetizer and main dishes at the same time. There are different servers working so perhaps that’s why it took seriously long to get our main meals. Do wipe down your cups before putting water in. Overall beautiful cafe with delicious food.

Yelp
Food was amazing! They had amazing French onion soup and the grilled duck tasted amazing. Creme brûlée also was delicate, not too eggy, and smooth. Not too sweet either. Service was a bit slow but that may be the French way so we soaked it in in appreciation. The one thing was getting charged for water when we asked for regular tap water but maybe we should have been clearer or there was a language issue on our part. Will do better in learning my French next time I come! Ambience was great!

Yelp
We loved this little spot. Far enough away from the over-crowded tourist area. But walking distance. The patio is beautifully decorated with lights and flowers hanging down from the ceiling. We went in for crepes and champagne. It was perfect. Nice little daytime treat. Service was friendly and fast. Locals and visitors were both enjoying the weather on the patio.

Yelp
A hidden gem just 2 blocks away from the Eiffel tower. No long lines no frills. It's mostly locals who eat in this restaurant so it gives you that Parisian vibe a tourist like me longs for. The foods were all from the Fois Gras to the duck confit and the lamb! Everything tasted like a Michelin star cuisine! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
A classic French street cafe, we stopped for dinner. Nice servers, several spoke english so we didn't have problems ordering. I however had a different menu than the others (QR code scan) and couldn't see the entire menu. No idea why. We shared a meat platter and I had the sea bass dinner. Jut what you expected.

Yelp
Ambiance: We were trying to be spontaneous and we walked around and saw this place. The goal was to try new foods like escargot and they had it on their menu. It is nearby the photo spot for the Eiffel Tower and the space was pretty big. What I noticed that in France the seats are really small good for two. Service: The service was good! Most people can speak English so that is helpful. I wish I could speak french... I do notice that if you want the check you have to be proactive or they will let you stay as long as you want. Food $$: We got some steak frites and wow the escargot was really good. I was nervous at first but the sauce that comes with it was buttery and like a green savory herb paste. 10/10 Audience: Solo Trip [X] Family Friendly [ X] Friends [X] Date Spot [X] Recommendations/tips: I recommend and this is saved on my favorites! I will definitely come back!

Yelp
a nice cozy restaurant nearby our hotel. We were able to walk in without a reservation and get seated by the window. We ended up getting the french onion soup, escargot and steak and fries. They also bring a small basket of bread as well. All the items were delicious and decently priced. One thing i found funny, was the timing of bring out food. They bought out the french onion soup and the escargot first. My wife wanted to snack/eat on these items, but i ordered steak and fries. After about 15 mins, i asked if my steak and fries were coming and they told me they thought we wanted to finished the soup/escargot before we got the steak. I guess it was simple miscommunication. lol

Yelp
Onion soup, Nutella tiramisu, cream brulee. Delicious, great service, beautiful inside and outside. Husband had grilled octopus, ribeye, my son had the bacon burger, the flank steak,I had veggie ravioli. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great French food , feels like you are a French cafe , the decor is Tribute to Paris.

A K.

Yelp
The outside décor was inviting. I was walking alone, craving foie gras in Paris and came across Le Poincaré. Although it was tasty there was a hair in my food and thankfully the staff took my plate away and brought me a new serving. Unexpectadly, my friend came to join me and the waitress became incredibly frustrated and showed it by rolling her eyes, groaning, rushing about and becoming anxious and upset over our request for a bigger table. The food was good - foie gras, tasty and onion soup was creamy and not like the delicious broth with melted cheese and bread on top. So, all in all - mediocre food and rude waitress. Nice atmosphere if you can disregard the person serving you.

Yelp
In Paris for a day and the hotel recommend this place. We started with French onion soup. It was not traditional but it is probably the best I've had. It and the bread it came with are perfect. It is a bit sweet with the cheese. I had the duck. It was fantastic. Cooked perfectly and the sauce was wonderful. The resitúo was creamy and delicious as well. It has a slight smoky taste that the pomegranate balanced perfectly. My wife's steak was great as well. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Hands down the best bistro food we had in Paris! During our 6 days stay in Paris Bistrot Le Poincaré happened to be just a few blocks away from our Airbnb. One day we stopped there for dinner and liked it so much that came back for lunch on the last day just before going to the airport :) Both times we sat outside, watching passers-by. The service was quick and super friendly. During our visit to Paris we didn't go to upscale/fine dining/Michelin restaurants but ate at bistros and cafes similar to Bistrot Le Poincaré. Hands down Bistrot Le Poincaré had the best food we tasted in Paris! It was very fresh and absolutely delicious on both occasions! Presentation was also great like a piece of art! I wish I can visit this place again someday. We highly recommend Bistrot Le Poincaré if you are in the area! Dishes ordered Avocado Toast with Smoked salmon, beetroot caviar, feta cheese and egg yolk - this looked beautifully and tasted deliciously! Tuna Tataki - this looked beautifully and tasted deliciously! Duck Breast orange-flavored honey sauce, Spelt risotto with asparagus - duck breast was a bit tough, but very flavorful. Risotto was as good as the duck. Beef Tartare with herring caviar, smoked oil - excellent. Could get a bit more spices IMO. Poultry Suprême Stuffed with Truffle and Baby Spinach with Slow-braised baby potatoes - delicious Slow-braised baby potatoes - excellent Chicken Burger - good Sea bass fillet, white butter sauce with saffron - delicious! Strawberry Pavlova - perfect Crepe with Caramel - excellent French crepe. It was a great last note to part with Paris on :)

Yelp
Service is nice but the meal is not up to par with the actual notoriety of Paris food. It's near the Eiffel Tower so the atmosphere of being near the most iconic area is wonderful but it's good or shall I say my current meal does not encourage me to revisit this place again. It's quaint and would be possibly ok for drinks and gathering with friends.

Yelp
We landed this morning in Paris. I always enjoy asking the hotel personnel " where are you planning on eating dinner tonight? I don't want some tourist food trap I want to eat where the locals go to eat. When we asked our concierge suggested this place tonight. Good food good service good atmosphere. Would we eat here again yes. Bon appétit
google avatar

Yelp
This is a delightful cafe with outdoor seating. A place to soak up the local scene and have a couple drinks. The food was ok. We have the onion soup, Caesar salad and flank steak. The onion soup was different. Caesar was pretty standard. The steak was pretty tough. The service was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Ashley A.

Yelp
It was our first night in Paris and we ended up trying out this place. It was a block away from the Mainstreet where all the other restaurants were, which I liked. I wanted to try and experience the French cuisine so we started with foui gras, escargot and the onion soup. I loved it all! Although not the traditional style onion soup, I enjoyed their version that was a bit thicker and creamier. For my plate I got the magret de canard (duck breast) with risotto + salad. Everything was delicious. We always gotta end with something sweet so we got the Tarte Citron Meringuée. Which was amazing light fresh and tart.

Yelp
A wonderful way to start our Paris adventure. Walking distance from our hotel the food and beverages were a delight.

Yelp
Food was ok nothing special and overpriced. It was one of the few places opened late. Good for late drinks

Yelp
Great brasserie food and beverage choices. Escargot and egg rolls are excellent starters. Pizza was delicious. Wine selection is very good. Enjoyable to deal with the employees, who were friendly, understanding and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Our first meal in Paris for this trip. Croissant, omelette, and caffe au lait. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we got our food quickly.

Yelp
Booked this place on Google, it wasn't even open. Don't recommend it as it is not reliable. Do not book online. They allow you to book when it's not even open. Ruined my holiday. Horrible.
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
Local brasserie, off the Trocadero so less touristy than the mob scene just a few blocks away. Classic brasserie menu (e.g., foie gras, salade de chevre chaud, escargots, entrecotes, etc.) and the food is solid. The service is very good, warm and funny, in a country where let's just say, that's not always the case. I'd come here again any day. One big plus for overscheduled tourists: you can even reserve online via TheFork -- which is something of a rarity for Paris local brasseries. You can check out the menu there and on menuonline.fr as well.

Silvina A.

Yelp
Not tourist friendly. The blond tall man at the cashier makes you and eternal waiting for a table that never arrives because it assigns them to French clients or friends who arrives after (Always with alleged "reservations") . He laughs in your face. Finallly We ate so good next to the Eiffel Tower much better (The Wilson ) Pas convivial pour les touristes.

Yelp
Food was great, best burger we had while traveling Europe. Enjoyed people watching outside at the bistro tables.

Yelp
Not many vegetarian options, just ravioli. Also found it a bit sweet ! Kid Drinks were overly sweet . Not impressed .service and ambiance were ok.

Yelp
Came by with the wife for lunch Service was great. I ordered the flank steak with potatoes. The flank steak was hard to chew and had no flavor. I do not recommend getting it. I give the flank steak a 4/10 The potatoes were delicious. That I would give a 9/10. My wife got the crème brûlée , she said it was very good and highly recommends it.

Natali T.

Yelp
Service was very friendly. We were able to walk in without a reservation. Food was ok. French onion soup was not traditional (it's creamy no cheese on top) but very good. I'd come back to have it.

Yelp
We had dinner at this typical french bistro our last night in Paris.  This bistro has about 20 tables outside and all of them were filled when we left.  Great Parisian vibe...including the cigarette smoke.  Being a true Californian, I will never get used to smelling smoke while I'm eating.  It just doesn't happen here.  Sorry, I digressed on the cigarette smoke.  This is typical at every restaurant so I'm not knocking Le Poincare. We had a great waiter.  He was patient with our lack of french language skills.  We started with cocktails and escargot.  Both were great.  I tasted the garlic all night!  My wife had sea bass with a beure blanc sauce and I had a flank steak with roasted potatoes.  The steak was served rare (the waiter didn't ask the temperature I preferred).  Again, this may be a french thing.  The steak was just o.k.  I asked the waiter if the chef would make me an Au Poivre (peppercorn) sauce.  The chef said NO.  I could hear him yell from the kitchen...not really but that is what I envisioned.  The french do have an attitude.  The roasted potatoes were the highlight.  I could have ate a whole plate of potatoes.  My wife's sea bass was good...not great.  There was nothing the stood out for her or me, with the one bite she gave me. This was a good experience mainly due to the waiter.  He made the dinner hugely enjoyable which made up for the pretty basic food.  I would keep looking for a place with BOTH, great wait staff AND great food....I say fire the chef ;) that would be a good start!

Steven M.

Yelp
Server did not bring what I ordered. When I shared that with her, she immediately insisted that I did order it (others at table confirmed that she was incorrect). Even though I agreed to keep the wrong meal, I did ask if she could bring some frites to the table as that was one of the items in the meal that I ordered and wanted. She copped a major attitude, walked away without saying a word so it wasn't clear that she was going to bring me any frites. Did bring some frites and banged them down in the table as if to say "you are a jerk for suggesting that I made a mistake" and walked away without a word. Aside from the fact that I ate something that I did not want, her attitude made the meal uncomfortable. Worse yet, my meal was really terrible. Meat was undercooked and tough. Even when she came with the bill, she took the payment without looking at me and walked away without saying a single word. Overall had great service at all other restaurants in Paris, but this one was miserable and certainly can't recommend. SHOULD HAVE HEEDED THEIR 3.9 STAR YELP REVIEW!

Mirabelle H.

Yelp
The service was amazing!! We got sat fairly quickly. There's not a view of the Eiffel Tower, but you can see many of the old, and cool buildings, a really cute little café. The food here was amazing!! And I suggest the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream, it was delicious! I love this place! Definitely will be coming back here.

Yelp
Everything was excellent. Our server Max was very attentive. One of the best place to eat in Paris. Server spoke good English.

Yelp
-good food but smells like cigarettes inside -dark inside -okay portion -burger was good -must get potatos

Yelp
We stopped in at this restaurant before walking over to Trocadéro to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle at night. My son loved how the waitress opened the Coca Cola bottle over her shoulder. He is usually picky about food but heartily devoured his cheeseburger that had sesame seeds on the bun. I asked about gluten free options. The waitress gave me several options. I went with the ceviche and the burrata entrees (appetizers in the USA). Both were tasty and I was satisfied with the amount of food. My daughter opted for the vegetable lasagna. She said it was good. My husband ordered the croque madame with an extra egg. The sandwich was very big. The eggs were perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

Yelp
We visited this lovely restaurant after visiting the Eiffel Tower. It's walking distance from the Trocadero subway station and we needed a warm place to have a snack and wine and this place did not disappoint. The service, food and atmosphere was outstanding. We were there around closing time but the staff never made us feel rushed or unwelcomed, something that doesn't usually happen in the states. I would recommend their French onion soup and charcuterie board, since we just stopped for a quick bite we did not try the larger entrees but were very impressed by the warm service. Will definitely visit again when in Paris.

Ivan T.

Yelp
Enjoyed a late lunch at Le Poincaré. The food was delicious. I started with the Tataki de boeuf mariné au saté. My wife had the Supreme de Volaille and I had the Cotelettes d'Agneall. All dishes were fantastic. The staff was welcoming and accommodating to our 4 year old daughter. Definitely recommend.

Marc R.

Yelp
Great staff, patient with our language barrier and great food! Ambiance was relaxing and comfortable.

D R.

Yelp
Very nice staff, comfortable if you speak french (menu has an English translation if you switch the flag to British) or servers also speak English. Very good french fare. Had the chicken & potatoes with truffle, it was cooked perfectly and not dry. Great atmosphere and a very nice outside patio. Loved it.

Yelp
Average food, excellent service. I would go back, but would try something a bit different on the menu.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful time at Poincare'. Such a warm friendly server. He was terrific. And the food was delicious. I will definitely return.

Yelp
We wanted authentic French cuisine without all the 'flashy' tourist nonsense and we certainly found it here. This is a gem and we will come back again and again. The gal who served us basically took care of the entire packed restaurant and moved throughout like a true professional. Never did we wait too long nor wonder if she had our next course coming. We started with champagne because, why not, and then moved to the soup. I had heard they were known for their French Onion soup and, oh my, it did NOT disappoint. I had snails to follow since my wife is not a fan. They came 'full-shell' which was new to me however unlike Julia Roberts I handled it like a champ and they were delish. Our main course followed. I had the scallops which were fantastic and my bride went with the vegetarian ravioli. Not gonna lie. I was a little jealous. Both were amazing. I am literarily writing the review before dessert but let's be honest, it will be amazing! Crème Brûlée? Yes please!!! If you're in Paris from the states, add this to your list of must visits! Thank me later!!!

Wallace M.

Yelp
Great food, not too far walking from Arc De Triumph. Very surprised by the details they put into the presentation. Very good value.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
The escargot appetizer was terrific. However, that was the extent of good review for this establishment. My partner ordered an Negroni but the waiter gave us a different drink. We had to wait at least 45 minutes to get our entrees which left a horrible impression on us. It would have been okay if the food was good but the flank steak had absolutely no flavor at all and it was very chewy. I asked the waiter for salt and pepper and he acknowledged the request but they were never provided. Probably one of the worst dining experience we ever had. I would not recommend this place.
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
Outstanding service and really nice meal. Had escargot, Duck risotto, and creme brulee. Awesome meal!!!
google avatar

Farah Z.

Yelp
Great food and fast service! Loved the escargot!! Onion soup was good too.. not the traditional French onion soup but great nonetheless!
google avatar

Jodi M.

Yelp
Nice paced meal and friendly service a short walk from our hotel. I had the duck medium.. it was lovely. Hubs had the onion soup (seriously to die for!! Wish I could have dairy). -the burger medium. Yummy! Ordered a bottle of local red. Got the nutella tiramisu... was a cute rich dessert. Overall a nice meal with pleasant service.. We would make a trip back just for the cream onion soup! Dreamy.... comfort food on a cool winter evening in Paris!
google avatar

Aaron A.

Yelp
Unassuming but oh so worth it once you sit down to eat. Truly great food, quickly prepared and presented well. Staff is friendly and able to recommend dishes for you, and the bar is stocked OK (not great but). Do stop by if you're in the mood for good food!

Yelp
It was very close to where we were staying. And the guy waiter was very attentive and very funny. About the food, our steak was very very nicely cook and we received free sauces. We loved the onion soup fr entree. The service was very quick as well. Would recommend this and would like to go back again.

Yelp
Very friendly, great food. Had the steak, escargot and burger. Potatoes were tasty as well.

Yelp
We had dinner at this bistro and it was probably the best overall dining experience we had in Paris. The food was excellent, the charcuterie board was overflowing with many options, the bavette was excellent and all of our other dishes were well prepared. The service is friendly, efficient and nice. Just a great place to have a meal.

Todd G.

Yelp
I had the Veggie Lasagna, and it was amazing... see the pic! My girlfriend had the salmon with lobster bisque and vegatables on the side, amazing. Out waiter was amazing despite having to deal with a curmudgeon asshole sitting at my table. My sincerest apologies!Fyi... enjoy a glass or bottle of Languedoc!
