Barcelona’s Best Restaurants in the Gothic Quarter, El Born, and El Raval | Eater

"This cafe is two-thirds glass, all the better to look out onto the quiet Placeta de Manuel Ribé. Inside, there is a constant play of light and shadow between the abundant plants and the sun streaming in. Cafe tables paired with iconic bentwood chairs make the whole affair feel Parisian. The aesthetic carries into the menu, which is filled with food in the Ottolenghi mold, like eggplant drizzled with tahini and scattered pomegranate, or a whole head of roasted, spiced cauliflower." - Suzy Taher

Google
Generous portions, love that you can get half orders to try more things. Highlights: the orange juice, the mackerel, the fattoush, and the shakshuka. Melanie was lovely and super attentive!

Absolutely killer brunch or lunch spot. Everything we had was out of this world. Highly recommend the shakshuka and the fatoush salad. We ordered both with some of their pita bread and it was plenty of food and absolutely divine.

Google
Food, amazing. Staff, so kind and attentive. Atmosphere, adorable little square with live, rotating buskers and setting an amazing vibe. Bonus: cute dogs. Went here for date night and would absolutely return.

I visited Bistrot Levante in January 2025 and revisited earlier today - after going to restaurants all across Barcelona, this is still the best one. Although the dishes have changed, they were still exemplary. Perfectly spiced and sauced - all interesting and unique in their own right. We ordered the fattoush salad, the grilled cauliflower, and the roast lamb. Service was unhurried and friendly. Located in the heart of the old city, the small and intimate square, Placeta de Manual Ribe, the Bistrot seems to always have live music in the background and feels nestled away in the bustle of the Gotic.

The hummus kwarma and challah bread are delicious and Melanie is really good in welcoming and advising. Will be back soon!

Found this from a recommendation in my Lonely Planet guide and I was not disappointed… well hidden in a small square… food was delicious. Not a huge menu but covers meat, fish and vegetarian (I’m a vegetarian) the natural wine was lovely too! Well worth making a visit!

It was a coincidence that I ended up at this place, a lucky one! Melanie and Olivia (I hope I’m spelling your names correctly) were the warmest souls, and the food I had was out of this world! Just imagine the smell of freshly baked challah with eggplant, hummus, and tzatziki dips. Yes! Exactly! Just visit them—you’ll thank me in spirit!

Google
One of the best shakshoukas I’ve tried! The bread is super fresh as well (homemade). Hummus had the perfect texture and the taste was incredible. Staff is friendly and the terrace is nice and quiet for a “placeta”. Must visit when I Barcelona ✨

Yelp
5/5 stars. Amazing dinner. You should definitely try to go. Ate outside in the courtyard which was lively but not to busy. Had the recommended orange wine, the appetizer with the dips and four different entrees all were delicious. I'll be back the next time I'm in town!

Yelp
Wonderful, classic Mediterranean dishes done outstandingly. One of my favorite meals we had in Spain. Fresh and flavorful. English speaking waiters (if needed). We sat outside in a lovely corridor area. The feta dip was our favorite! The pita bread alone is heavenly.

Yelp
The food here is delicious, however, if you are in search for a good ambiance, I recommend looking else where. The tables are extremely small and a bit uncomfortable, the food came out at different times, and we weren't given any choice when we asked for a bottle of wine. Additionally, the wines are all natural and we were not a fan of the bottle given to us. The portion sizes of the "mains" were on the smaller side, I think it would be better to order them tapas style. The desserts were very tasty and good sized portions

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place! We walked in because we saw how simple yet elegant it was. We had lunch and it could not have been any fresher. They use locally sourced products and you can tell the kitchen deeply enjoys what they do. The dishes are beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. We had the challah bread and the avocado hummus. The challah bread was FIRE and the avocado hummus was LITTY AF. The pita bread that they put out was BOMBASTIC. The service, as typical of Spain, was attentive yet unobtrusive. She was very kind and we had a pleasant conversation when her duties permitted. We wholeheartedly recommend Levante Bistro to anyone in the mood to have a relaxed meal with delicious food and a boho atmosphere in the heart of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.

Yelp
Excellent food, with cute outdoor and indoor seating. Favorite was the meatballs. Came in a delicious sauce thick with fresh tomatoes, peppers and onions. Everything else was fresh and good too. Prices also very reasonable. My second time eating here. Highly recommend.

Yelp
What an AMAZING experience we had visiting Levante in Barcelona, Spain! We stumbled upon this restaurant while in Spain AND we were so glad that we took the time to stop and enjoy it! Our server was so engaging, kind and helpful! The food was OUTSTANDING ... some of the best we had in Barcelona and the local wine was OUT OF THIS WORLD good! We just wished we had discovered it earlier in our trip so we could have gone more than once. We will definitely go back when we return to Spain!

Yelp
Lovely restaurant with an excellent and interesting take on middle eastern cuisine. Jacobo the host is extremely warm and has a keen sense of taste when it comes to wine pairing. It's a tiny little gem in a tiny little section of El Call, the ancient Jewish Quarter of Barri Gotic.
