Yelp
I wish I was in the Bay Area to get a better idea of the BiteUnite brand. I think it'd be really cool and beneficial to see it in person; what goes on there, how it's set up, what it looks like, how things are run, etc.
Unfortunately, I'm way out in Massachusetts. So, I got to experience the next best thing - a Yelp Elite virtual cooking class event with BiteUnite. From what I understand, BiteUnite offers a range of things, one of them being cooking classes. The class I took was for making Pad Thai.
The very first thing I'd like to acknowledge is that I appreciate the class being taught by someone from Thailand . To me, that means authentic! So much so that the shopping list & take-home recipe ended up not having measurements. That's when you know someone is a cooking master. It's like asking Grandma how she makes your favorite pie, entree, or casserole; add a bit of this, a portion of that, a handful of this...
Now, during the class, she did give us the step by step ratios & measurements. I just should've written them down. She also instructed in a way that made tackling this dish less daunting. It was in a way much easier than I anticipated, although my end result was nothing as glamorous as her's - another sign of an accomplished chef - they make everything look so easy!
Two more accolades I can lay on this woman:
My husband said the Pad Thai tasted like he was eating from a restaurant
I made the dish the following week - I was that confident in cooking it again. She really made it very "approachable."
Lastly, she gave us some history and cultural reference and information on Pad Thai. Bonus!
So although the final recipe didn't list measurements, I still am grateful to be able to add Pad Thai to my cooking arsenal.
