"Bitter End just debuted at 2826 Elm Street, replacing the former “new American” eatery, which closed back in November. Bitter End’s owners bought Idle Rye’s name and intellectual property, but decided not to resurrect the restaurant, opting instead to revamp the space as a neighborhood bar and eatery with a completely new menu. Diners will find vibrantly colored pop art in the space and a soon-to-be-installed raw bar for oysters. The space seats 100 indoors and another 60 on a large patio and has more than 20 TVs for game watching. In addition to oysters, Bitter End serves up pub fare like wings, fish ‘n’ chips, po’ boys, and build-your-own burgers, alongside charcuterie boards, lobster-infused avocado dip, and salads and soups like roasted tomato basil. Drinks include a giant beer list of 55 local brews between the dozen drafts and several dozen cans, signature cocktails, and an “approachable” wine list with sparkling options for oyster pairings. Part-owner Torry Cray came from a notable bar background, having helped open Deep Ellum’s ever-popular Stirr and more recently serving as a food and beverage manager at the Statler Hotel where she was tasked with launching the project’s handful of bars and eateries." - Alaena Hostetter

Went here about 2-3 weeks after they opened as a new restaurant in Deep Ellum. The food was decently good and drinks were well made. Nice beer selection as well. However, their service was bad. There were not many people here and we had two different girls waiting on us. Tho there would be times they just never came by. I had to get up twice to go to the bar and get something. We spent nearly 2 hours here and most of it was waiting for them. When the manager came by with our check, I told him and he just says "well you didnt tell me earlier" and walked off. For a new restaurant in deep ellum in a spot that recently failed, that's a pretty poor way to treat the 2 of 12 people that came in. I doubt I'll be back since they are not friendly or provide good service. Guess they dont care.

Google
Best of the best in Deep Ellum and Dallas. Great happy hour every day and late night food for anyone out and about later. The patio bar is beautiful and they do $3 fireball shots whenever a fire truck passes by which adds to the ambiance and fun vibes of the bar. Check out their oysters for a delicious dinner. Yum yum yum.

Google
Great Sunday day party vibes! Bottle girls are beautiful and friendly. Salmon sliders are so good especially with the honey pesto ! Highly recommend our party of 10 enjoyed ourselves

Google
Best lemon drops I’ve had in a while, also their paper plane (the drink) was very good. We were here before it got crowded so the bartenders were very kind and made our drinks quickly. The prices were good too but best of all were the drinks themselves, just great. The reason this gets 5 stars is because the venue is amazing, great open atmosphere, outside seating, and cool decoration (giant colorful portraits of celebrities of different styles). This is a good bar to come with a group of close friends to drink outside as the sun goes down after a long week of work.

Google
After a 14 hour, two leg flight from Stockholm to Dallas we just picked the first place we saw. It happened to be the best place we could find! It's everything you look for in a bar of this kind. Screens everywhere showing all kind of sports, great variety of beers, both imported and locals, all kinds of games and stuff, truly great staff that you more or less just hang out with while they serve you and of course you have the rest of Deep Ellum at your door step.

Google
Was in town and got invited here for drinks. Free admission, very friendly staff with an amazing dj. Nice patio and reasonable drink prices. The kitchen closed, so I didn't get to eat. It was definitely a vibe, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Jennifer Daniel

Google
The food was really good, but the service was extremely slow. Everyone was friendly, but it shouldn't take 20 minutes after your meal is ordered to get your side dish. Hoping this was just a bad day. I will definitely try again, because the food is worth a second try.

Google
Was very excited about a new oyster joint. We are big fans of Good oysters and we had been seeing an ad on Instagram about bitter end. One star because Service is very poor, to an unacceptable level. Nice selection of oysters. We started with two glasses of wine and a dozen oysters which were good. The bartender lady asked if we were going to order food and we said yes and we were literally reading our menus. She said, "I'm going to take these" and we replied "Oh we are still looking..." and she snatched the menu up and said "Well the menus are limited" and stuffed it in a basket full of other menus. We were utterly shocked. The restaurant was very empty and it was Friday night. We finished our oysters and wine and left to have dinner elsewhere.

Terrance G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon here on a Friday night in deep ellum and it was perfect timing. Walking in it's a large space with plenty of TVs and seating. They do offer hookah and i had to try that. The nba finals was on and i had a perfect seat to watch the game enjoy drinks and smoke some good hookah. The drinks came out very quick and the hookah service was great, coals were a part of the total cost of hookah. I'll definitely be back here again

Chijioke N.

Yelp
Things wings were nothing short of amazing.. the music and scene was exciting and welcoming. The service was great and the servers were very nice and accommodating. They sell there tables and booths so if you want to sit on a Sunday I recommend you get there early or prepare to pay extra.. thankfully the bartender allowed us to sit in a reserved section while we ate.. overall great experience and I'll definitely be back

Savanah R.

Yelp
The music was great and the staff was incredibly friendly. Shout out to the beautiful bartender who took care of us and set the whole vibe. She literally is a main reason why I will go back. The music is great, and the crowd is pretty chill. They got hookahs in the back but be aware you must have a table In order to get a hookah.

Kingsley N.

Yelp
Been in Houston for the last 9 years wanted to see what that Dallas scene was like so I decided to stop at Bitter End. Been there twice so far during the day as well as night time and the vibe was nice, dope spot. The music is dope, security at the door making sure nobody is tryna sneak in with artillery. The service is great everyone is nice and is making sure that All your needs are met. The wings and fries where pretty good.. hot and crispy .. hookah as well ofc.. They get 5 stars from me ! I'll be back

Luckens L.

Yelp
If your looking for a brunch to start you day Bitter End is the spot. Great bottle service and hookah. The chef did her thing with the wings and salmon sliders for sure! She was also was kind enough to give us complimentary desserts.

India F.

Yelp
I spent my birthday brunch here and I literally had the time of my life! I went on Sunday and there was a lit DJ there, hookah, & everything. I got a table outside on the patio for $50. It came with 6 seats and 2 crafts of champagne which is so worth it. By time it gets crowded you'll be happy you bought a table. I didn't get any food but the mimosas were really great and the service was really good. They had a hookah service there that charged $30/1 hr, $40/2hr or $50 for all day. I loved this place and the vibe on Sunday. I would deff be back!

Rick B.

Yelp
Plenty of seating, friendly staff, and great drinks! But be advised; this Sports Bar is HEAVY ON SPORTS. The ONLY negative is that during big football games, all of the TV's are deafening. If you want a sports bar too loud for conversation; come here during a game. Otherwise, come here when no major game is playing.

Lex B.

Yelp
Always passed this spot while in Deep Ellum. It was always lively plus I noticed they have hookah so I knew I was going in one day. Last night was my moment. Security guards were cool doing their job and once we got the green light from them, it was straight to the bar. I checked in on the Yelp app and I was pleasantly surprised to see a coupon for $3 off any drink. I showed the male bartender an he said it was fine but then quickly went off to the back??? When he returned he said management stopped acknowledging the coupon years ago. Mmmhmmm..... After that it still took awhile for my friend to pay. My best friend an I went outside to watch the game on tv after he FINALLY paid for his drink. I'm glad they have TVs outside. Perfect for game watching. Before going though, he asked security if we could order food outside and we were told yes. After 5 minutes or so, still no servers. The servers are female wearing skimpy black attire. Beautiful girls but I believe they only provide amazing service to the men they like. I eventually ordered from a server who went straight to the security booth instead of serving the paying patrons outside. I got up and literally walked to HER an ordered the Elm St. sampler. I asked to change the flavor of the wings to what wasn't on the menu. It took a while for my food an drink and when it did come the wings weren't changed to what I requested however the food was quite good. I was never asked how my food was or even checked on because my server was too busy talking to security and the other staff. I wasn't fazed only because the food WAS good and I was in good company (slightly disappointed about not having the wings I wanted though and I already knew it would be way too much to have them corrected) She did ask me though many times to take my drink order?? Made me wonder if drink sales were the only way of making good money?? Didn't do the hookah but next time and I'll probably just stick to drinks! The music was on point too so I'll be back.

Pepper V.

Yelp
I can't believe I'm doing this, but I got bottle service and handed my card to one of the employees. Next thing you know, I get a random charge on my credit card for online shopping. Luckily I'm one to always check my charges at the end of the night. Just watch out for your fraud charges if you go here!

STEVE B.

Yelp
Nice to see a revitalizing Deep Ellum - in fact I popped into Bitter End because my original destination restaurant was bursting at the seams. I lucked out to arrive right at the beginning of trivia night - so had a great time taking home solo 2nd place honors (no excuses - but the 1st place team had like 6 people in their group :( ) Great energetic bartenders and fun wait staff crew. Cold Revolver Blood & Honey brews and enjoyed the gourmet buffalo chicken sliders.

Tramell L.

Yelp
Great spot!! Music vibes and the food was great! Definitely a spot I will always pop into when iM in Dallas! Hookah was great aside from the chicks over charging me when the hookah was suppose to be free for the time I was there but hey the night have needed the money more than I did so bless them. Other than that great spot to pop into

Rasta M.

Yelp
Yesterday at Sunday funday I was assaulted by one of Servers I believe her name is Blaire. All because I accidentally stumbled into a stool she had her hookah on and it fell over. I apologize to Blaire and she was being very disrespectful to me. Getting extremely obnoxious saying I have to go because the hookah was on a stool at the entrance where ppl coming in & out at when the hookah honestly should've been at a table or on the floor. When security came to rescue Blaire; Blaire had the audacity to put her hands on me while I was exiting the premises. That was very unfair and not professional at all for the simple fact I couldn't defend myself and still got put out.

Jenn C.

Yelp
We walked into this spot and my husband mentioned it is a black owned restaurant. And I'm so glad that we were able to patronize it's establishment. Will, our server, was very attentive and continue to ask us if we need anything. He honored the coupon on Yelp even though he had not heard of it. I appreciate that. We would definitely come back to have a full meal and another good time.

Alesia A.

Yelp
Bitter end is a cool bar in Deep Ellum. When I did the Part Bike for my friends birthday last weekend, this was our last stop. By the time we got there everyone was pretty tipsy and we needed to refuel lol. All I can say was these fries saved me haha. And I wanted some shots too. But it was really cool. I also really loved their artwork all throughout the bar. The pieces were very colorful and just my style l. I must say, it was a great way to spend my Saturday!

Victoria H.

Yelp
I've been to Bitter End a few times now and I keep recommending this place to friends because of their Megamosa (a whole bottle of champagne in a mimosa drink for yourself)! Their brunch menu doesn't feature a large variety, but I've had their breakfast tater tots which is pretty delicious! If you check-in, you get a discount on your drink!

Kat O.

Yelp
So Bitter End took over the spot Idle Rye was in, and so far it looks like they are doing it right! We stopped by last night AFTER dinner (so no, we didn't eat). But we sampled cocktails from the menu and I was very impressed. Decor is great, the live music was great and the staff were excellent! They have an entire oyster bar section (raw and grilled) that will be opening March 1 and you can bet your ass I'll be there! Give this place a shot and I don't think you'll be disappointed. I'll update after the Oyster bar opens!

Renisha S.

Yelp
This is a place I wanted to love so bad. Everything about it is awesome...the scenery, location, art work inside and outside and even music. Now the food & service is subpar at its finest. I went on a Tuesday for all day $5 house champagne and $1.50 oysters. First the waitress didn't even know what we were talking about until the flyer was shown. Ordered 6 blue point oysters and a glass of house champagne. Both were good, oysters were large in size so I was impressed. Now this is were things started going downhill. I ordered another glass of champagne and was told that they were out. I got there at 5pm when the restaurant opened so they had been running low and just didn't restock which is weird when you are running a special for it all day on Mondays and Tuesdays. Now the bartender did offer any cocktail for lesser price and after seeing my bill he ended up giving me the drink (Hepburn) for $3 and that was with checking into the location on Yelp. Next I ordered the mesquite wood grilled wings half ginger soy half buffalo and I was not a fan. The wings literally tasted like wood smoke. It was too charcoaled and smoky tasting for my liking. I honestly haven't given up on the place. I will try it for brunch and it's only because the ambiance it's so beautiful that I have to find something I like about it to keep coming.

Theresa M.

Yelp
I was super happy with my avocado toast. It was pretty dead, but they were playing great music. The patio is dog friendly and the staff is super kind. I'd skip the Hepburn drink though

Quetta C.

Yelp
The place is good for entertainment. The inside is pretty clean. It's hard to find the pace. Since the name is not big and it's kind of hard to find. I came with a group of friends. I ordered food at 2:30. Something simple since the menu is simple. Biscuits and chicken. I never got my food I waited til 3:51. I had to talk to the manager in order to get my refund. The music is good . But if you are looking for a place to brunch I would not recommend. Oh and to put the icing on the cake a paid for a table so it's not like I just came. Place is only good for music and to vibe with friends. Service for food and drinks slow. I'm cool on it. Manager was nice though.

Ashley H.

Yelp
I literally come here all the time but the front door guy that smokes Hookah was so fucking rude it was ridiculous. I went out and came back in and he was like trying to make me wait at the door and I was like I just came here he's like well you didn't let me know you left. I was like it really wasn't that serious then the idiot tried to tell me that I was acting like I was entitled. He was just doing the absolute most at the door it was ridiculous and Uncalled for. But he let these little skin the girls in talking about they said they had a table but really I was standing there I was just trying to get in the place.

Gloria K.

Yelp
I will never go back to Bitter End. They ended up charging my card an additional $40-something, for drinks that I DID NOT ORDER! Luckily, I reported the charges as fraudulent with my bank and it was resolved, but also: WTF Bitter End Bartenders? Not cool. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the shady bartenders here, you're better off going ANYWHERE else!!!

Aaron G.

Yelp
This place was just annoying overall and I don't plan on going back. Plenty of places better right next to it.

Maria G.

Yelp
I'm so upset. My husband needed his inhaler and I accompanied him to the car and they denied us re-entrance for no reason. The security guard was so rude and insensitive that we left. We are in the industry and spend and tip a lot. This was really sad to experience because after this pandemic this is a dying industry smh I will never come here again! I've worked in deep ellum and hold a certain standard and it was upsetting to see that y'all failed it. Smh

Tara T.

Yelp
This place so fun!! My friends & I had the best time here, not to mention the food & drinks are amazing

Courtney C.

Yelp
Cool bar but they tabbed us out after 1 drink without us asking and autograted me on $7 then picked up the receipts before we were done. Realized the gratuity was included like 2 seconds before the server took it. Won't be back.

Leslie P.

Yelp
Love the food and drinks here! Staff are friendly, location is great, easy to find parking, comfy atmosphere, great music and kinda has an artsy feel to it. Def coming back. If you order .... drink Serena ... guacamole with begets .... fries ... wings .... oysters ... cheese plate ... it was all good.

Valeria D.

Yelp
I liked the vibe of this place, the paintings on the walls and the fancy seating options are great. The service was also on point; their lobster Mac and cheeses with lobster and Parmesan crumbles was delicious, as well as the shrimp skewers. But the reason why I'm giving them 4 stars and not 5 is that the steak skewers were a little hard to eat. That being said, everything else was great and we will for sure go back there.

Melanie C.

Yelp
I really liked my drink and the patio. Hostess was super nice when she sat us. The customer service was good. Only came there for drinks and it did not disappoint. Did not get a chance to try the food, but inside of the place looked clean. Restrooms were clean so that's a plus.

Ashley O.

Yelp
Tried the char-broiled oysters. Which were actually quite good. The hostess were great. They were knowledgeable on the menu and restaurant and very welcoming. The patio is cute.

Scott G.

Yelp
Great place. Biggest big screen tv in the state. Really Good Food.. I had the chicken sandwich and it was awesome. Bartender was great.. And the icing on the cake, was my server Camille.. WOW. I would hire her in a minute. Looking forward to going back next Saturday. Scott

julian p.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Every time I come here the Stars win... I don't know but call me superstitious

Kelsey W.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere here! We tried a few cocktails and a charcuterie board. Everything was awesome! They're in a soft opening right now, can't wait to come back when the raw bar opens in March!

Tomica J.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and better music...drinks flowing as well..excellent place for your Sunday funday with your friends

James M.

Yelp
Sometimes, A soft opening is useful to test out the front and back of house to ensure success. Without a sign on the building, I was curious as to what went in to the old space occupied by the Idle Rye. The menu was reasonably priced bar food and it appeared that they wanted to show off of their cocktails and all female bartenders. I ordered the Bitter End cocktail and was surprised by how unusual it tasted. The coffee infusion left it with a awkward smell and bitter taste. The finish wasn't much better. The Steak Frite was tough and almost impossible to eat. The service was definitely inexperienced. Hopefully they will do better in the future. It wasn't worth the $10 it costs to park in Deep Ellum.

Darryn C.

Yelp
Went to Dallas on a business trip and walked by this place and thought it looked great. Went in and had a couple awesome Drinks and some fantastic Oysters... Saw some other great looking entrees come out while I was there I just wasn't that hungry. It's a must if your in the Dallas area.. If my plans take me back to Dallas. I will go back with an empty stomach for a full meal next time. Keep up the good work.

Lindsay H.

Yelp
Awesome vibe! My mimosa was huge and delish! But the California Benedict was amazing!!!! I could eat it everyday! Great service as well!

Hanan A.

Yelp
It's always fun when the bartender up charges you $300 for 8 shots of tequila. When management won't respond to calls or contact attempts.

Kevin F.

Yelp
Nice selection of oysters. We started with two glasses of wine and a dozen oysters which were good. The bartender lady asked if we were going to order food and we said yes and we looked at our menus. She said, "I'm going to take these" and we replied "Oh we are still looking..." and she snatched the menu up and said "Well the menus are limited" and stuffed it in a basket full of menus. The restaurant was practically empty (see attached photo). We finished our oysters and wine and left to have dinner elsewhere.

Dominique S.

Yelp
Had a ball here! The dj was Dope!!!! Wouldn't hesitate to return. So glad we chose to come here over any other place. Had Jenga and other free games to play. Had pool tables and ice hockey and fooseball as well! Can't wait to come back

Christiann R.

Yelp
Great time during the Cowboys game great food and service great crowd and art work up around with covered patio

Iman M.

Yelp
The honey lemon pepper wings are amazing. The sweet heat wings are disappointing and somewhat bland.

Katie W.

Yelp
The original menu and vibe that they opened with was impressive and exciting. Victoria always introduced herself and made sure we were taken care of. Recently the menu and vibe has changed and not for the better. Tonight I witnessed 2 belligerent males continue to be served. When asked why the men were allowed to stay the bar and wait staff said the men were friends of the owner (Eddie) and there was nothing they could do. Even though the owner was on site. The waitresses were assaulted multiple times and made to feel uncomfortable which made me feel unsafe. I won't be supporting an establishment that doesn't protect their staff or patrons.

Thiago J.

Yelp
Like the atmosphere as a sports bar and the food is good. However I was upset about their beer selection, especially because they had the 4 Corner El Grito as a Hefeweizen - I let the waitress know it was wrong and she said it wasn't... too bad

Jerica S.

Yelp
If you're familiar with Deep Ellum, then you'll likely know this place as Idle Rye. I honestly never went there, but me and some friends decided to try this new place out. They tried to make this place cool with swanky chairs and a cool IG wall. The staff was friendly and gave us some recommendations on drinks. I can't remember the drink but it was ok. For the price, I was expecting a little more. My friend tried the Parmesan garlic oyster and really enjoyed it. I didn't try any food, but if I go back I'll be sure to try a few things from the menu.

Joanna T.

Yelp
Wow, I cannot believe the disappointment of this place! We spent cinco de Mayo here on a reservation and and fairly empty restaurant but somehow they still managed to take an hour to serve our food. Not only that but once it arrived, may of the ordered were missing food items and either had too May potatoes or not enough. We asked for ketchup and that took another 10 minutes to arrive. The food was also very bland. Don't waste your time here.

Jay A.

Yelp
Great new place. Drinks and food were really good. They are having a grand opening soon and they're gonna have a raw bar. Can't wait for that. I had the Patty Dropper and Mac and Cheese. Legit. I also had the espresso martini that was really good

Katy H.

Yelp
Meh. Nothing special. We had the nachos and the macaroni and neither were good. Deep Ellum has better spots.

Robin T.

Yelp
Awesome service! Great hospitality! Management always looking out for the customer!! Would definitely recommend. Came on a Wednesday and had a great time!!

E C.

Yelp
I went for brunch and ordered The chick magnet, it was really amazing. Cool spot for late night oysters too..
