"Beer and barbecue go well together and downtown Ypsilanti’s Red Rock has wide varieties of both. The menu features dozens of sandwiches and entrees and over 35 craft beers and ciders on tap and in bottles. The burnt ends, tips of brisket smoked twice and topped with jalapeños, are a terrific way to start a meal." - John Reyes

Red Rock was AMAZING! I'm from NC and this was the best BBQ that I've had this far north! The brisket burnt ends were so good, they didn't need sauce. Speaking of sauces... The Carolina and South Carolina sauces were on point with authentic flavor of the regions. My personal favorite was the Sweet Hot sauce, it was the perfect balance of heat to sweet. We got the brussel sprouts and Mac and Cheese and both were out of this world! The M&C especially! It was awesome! Served in small cask iron skillets. Saved the best for last... The smoked wings were THE BEST! I am super picky about my wings and these were the most crispy smoked wings I've ever had! Amazing!

We had the Yipsi pulled chicken sandwich. Our waitress Jo was very accommodating when we asked to share it. She had the chef cut it in half- each half on a separate tray. And our cross cut waffle fries in a basket and just enough coleslaw to accent the meal rather than overwhelm. There were several BBQ sauces to try- all of them were good. Now for the reason for sharing the sandwich.... Cheesecake! I had the Turtle and my BF had the Blueberry both were very tasty and we were comfortably full. Jo was excellent- welcoming -efficient- suggested that we would like the cheesecake and she was right!

Great staff. The burnt ends were good, but the portion was very small for nearly $11. Cornbread muffins were excellent! Mac and cheese is not what it used to be (this style is served everywhere) which is what made Red Rock unique is now gone. Bummer, going to westside from now on. 😪 Update: The Mac and cheese is back!

Very nice upscale BBQ establishment. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful. We ordered lots of different choices and shared with one another. Everything was very tasty and I was very pleased with the Mac and cheese, I saw it was on the menu as a stand alone meal and they pulled it off. The prices didn't break the bank either. Ribs, brisket and pulled pork were all nicely done....I'm coming back to try the chicken!!

Everything was delicious and the server was super friendly and attentive. We had the Carolina Club and The Pit Pile; both exceeded our expectations. The meats were generous and flavorful. The toppings served with the pit pile were excellent, just wish the sandwich came with more than 2 Tony Packo's pickels. Small side salad was a very good size.

We had New Year’s Day supper at Red Rock Downtown Barbecue, as I was in the mood for soul food, comfort foods. We shared the pulled pork and some brisket, with roasted root vegetables, macaroni and cheese, fries and mean greens. Everything was served up hot, and everything was tasty! Nice selection of beers on draft and bottled. Fast service too. I definitely recommend this place — well worth the short drive from Ann Arbor.

Red Rock is my favorite restaurant in Ypsilanti. I can't think of a single thing they could improve on. I love the brick, the beautiful bar, the great whiskey selection, the service, and the food. They have burnt ends! The delicious, fatty and crispy end pieces of a beautiful brisket. They also have the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had, they are made with a bacon sauce and Parmesan cheese. The service is great and so are the happy hour prices.

Fantastic sauces. My personal favorite is the mustard based sauce. Everything is great, but especially the burnt ends and the sliders. I put the sauces on everything! You must try the brussel sprouts. I keep trying to duplicate them at home (not even close yet!). They recently updated their menu. I tried the Smokehouse bowl. It is phenomenal. A fabulous mixture of my favorite brussel sprouts with roasted sweet potatoes, cherries and walnuts over quinoa. If you love the brussel sprouts like I do, you'll love this. Try it with brisket on the side. Yum! They have great ribs and cheese curds as well.
