Bittersweet

Came for valentines, and we were greeted with an amazing 4 course tasting menu. Every dish was perfect and too our liking and the service was even better. The environment was very cozy and romantic. The portions were perfect, we left feeling happily full but not overly stuffed. Come for not only amazing food but a great experience!

Came here mid-February and loved the menu, maybe besides my cake and shake. Wonderful environment, food, and staff made it a luxurious experience without feeling too stiff and still down to earth. Some nitpicks from me on the food result in the 4 star but still a great dining experience. Beef Wellington was definitely the highlight for me. It was simply amazing. The lobster bisque had an unfortunately dry lobster tail which may have been a result of bringing all second courses out at the same time. Also the foraged mushroom in the bisque was delicious but wished they served more than one small piece! The cake and shake was advertised as a carrot cake but didn't really taste like a traditional carrot cake. Harder cake with a dense frosting that wasn't a traditional cream cheese frosting ended up having it taste more akin to an overly sweet storebought cupcake rather than a carrot cake with a balance of spices and a sweet yet mildly savory cream cheese frosting.

Absolutely excellent. Artfully decorated, exceptional service with unique and thoughtful cuisine that seemed to come from home garden ingredients. We had the prefix fixe menu so we had a series of dishes that we well presented and in the appropriate proportions. I imagine the menu changes with the season so I won't review any specific dish, but I did include photos and it was all very good.

I am only able to give it 4 stars. Due to the main course lamb was bit off. Too salty for the entire group. The service was great. The presentation is very pretty and artistic. The first course and second course were excellent, main course was salty and the dessert was only OK.

Myself and a few friends came here for dinner over the weekend. We had never been here but reading the previous reviews it did not disappoint! The food and service was amazing. Our waitress was very polite and knowledgeable about each dish we were served. There isn't anything that we would change at all. We truly enjoyed everything they had to offer and I would definitely dine again if im in the area.

I was very impressed by this restaurant. From the beginning to the end everything was fantastic. I got a pinot noir from Portland that had a very fruity and pepperi, honestly I was not expecting a good wine but it surprised me. We got a bread that kind of a cookie with a scone flavor with a beautiful piece of herbal butter. - To start we got a "Foie-Li-Pop" which was a master piece, very well presented and good balance of flavors with the bread, the foie gras and the brûlée banana. - Then we got the "Peach in the Blanket", presentation and garnishing were perfect, there was a base of chopped shallots with peach with a little acidity in and some sweetness which taste like a ceviche. There was a side blackberry caviar. - We also tried the "Mushroom Tart", very beautiful. The tart looked it was baked and it was perfectly cooked, very flavorful and well executed. - For the main dish, we selected the "Char Siu Beef Short Rib". This was really well done, I felt the meat was melting in my mouth and definitely it was slow cooked with perfect seasoning and good taste. The green-beans were a bit under cooked but I don't know if that was the intention of the chef, but that was a very minor detail. - "Decadence by Design" was our first dessert. The ice was delicious, it felt we were eating condense milk in an ice cream.The croquette and the glaze peached were a perfect combination of flavors. - The last thing was "Peaches & Persimmon" it was a good dessert but our favorite was the "Decadence by Design". I will definitely would love to come back when I returned to Denver. Cheers

Food was absolutely delicious. Service was fantastic as well. Ambiance was honestly a little loud. The food is definitely pricey so be prepared for that, you do get really well prepared creative cuisine. Would be a really great spot with some sound proofing measures!

Had an incredible time at Bittersweet last week and terribly sad they'll be closing. Wish I had stopped by sooner. No doubt I'll be dreaming about the deconstructed crab cake for years to come. My outdoor photos don't do justice to the gorgeous plates. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing what's next for chef Olaf!!

I've started keeping a list of places I've not eaten, and Bittersweet was up. How this place wasn't PACKED on a Sat I've no idea. Perhaps due to spring breaks? Anyway, super cute, super intimate space, although there is ample outdoor seating, weather permitting. Staff was very friendly. The menu sounded amazing so we did the tastings option. We started with the escargots and pork and beans. The escargot aebleskiver was fantastic! I've never had that preparation. My husband loved the pork and beans. Then we both had the lamb shank. Effing delicious. Super lamb-y flavor which I love. Then came the rabbit and duck. Presentation was beautiful on everything, but that duck. That duck is the real reason for the 5-stars. That skin... SO CRISP. It was a masterpiece! Sadly the polenta was bland and the masa wild salty, but that duck... Did I mention I loved the duck? My hubs rabbit was fantastic too. We finished with the semifreddo and raspberry lemonade. Fantastic, yet again. We also did the wine pairing which is specific to each item on the menu, so we got to try a few extra wines since we ordered different things. Loved that. Love love love this place!

Our servers were all very sweet and it seemed like they had no idea what fine dining was. Every dish had one or two too many components and the plates everything was served on were all laughably oversized. I got the BBQ watermelon to start and could have definitely done without the watermelon foam. I liked the texture and flavor of the "sashimi" pieces though. I was excited for the Colorado lamb dish as my second but I thought the sauce was incredibly oversalted and the meat wasn't as tender as I wanted it to be. My pork belly entree was a very generous portion. Sadly one side of it was dry and it could have done without the pineapple risotto, which didn't really taste like much. The cherries and pineapple caviar were a nice touch though to offset the meat. The desserts were probably the standouts. My deconstructed strawberry shortcake was light and delicious. The smores dish was smoky and complex. And the mint ice cream sandwich was tasty but I wanted the cookie bit to have more chocolate flavor than it did.

The mediocre food quality overshadows the superb plating. I ordered the set men. The quantity of the food is that a fine dining, and of which I have no complaints. However, the dishes did not seem to have a chefs touch. Things were routinely over salty, or had a mishmash of flavors that a person sampling the dish would have immediately altered. Simply put, It's like no one tasted this food before they put it out on the table. The semi Freddo ice cream sandwich made you want to weep. It tasted worse than the delicious Alden's organic ice cream sandwiches, and yet was stylized as a curated fine-dining effort. It tasted like no one had tried the dessert before serving it. I can understand that this might have been a masterpiece in the making... but somebody put it out on the table before it was checked. The bread was soggy and nearly inedible. The "ice cream" tasted like bland icy multi. This could've been slightly fixed with some sort of topping or glaze... but no one bothered to try it or realize there were problems with these dishes.

This place was a welcome find as we moved to Denver. It was cozy, welcoming, and intimate. Great service and good food. I'm knocking off one star for the small menu and the fact they ran out of foie by 7 pm. What was problematic for us was the menu was small and a lot of dishes had cream. The two appetizers, carrots and cauliflower were fine, but not anything great. We got the duck and beef Wellington for the entrees. They were good, a bit heavy-handed with salt in some. I would come back again to give it another try, but I want to see more fish, salad, and pasta that are not cream-based.

Just tried this place for the first time and OMG. What an undiscovered gem for fine dining. The Chef Jason is truly an artisan who loves what he does and isn't afraid to push the envelope. We opted for the 4 course tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was delicious but the stand outs were the Chèvre Pannacota and the Escargot in mini Ebelskiver. The wine pairing was adventurous starting with a sparkling desert wine you would normally have at the end. Can't say I'm a wine buff but they did a great joint b pairing between white, red and sparkling. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

This is a great example of a fun farm to table type of restaurant in Denver. It's hard to recommend dishes because the menu changes with the season, so we came on the last night of the summer menu. Rather than doing the 4 course meal per person, we ordered individual items off the menu and it was more than enough food! Everything tasted great! The only warning I'll give is this place is expensive! Two of us with a glass of wine each, salad, app, two entrees, and a dessert rang up to about $180 (pre-tip!). My one recommendation is to skip the salad. Split between us it lasted about 2.5 bites, not sure if that's worth the $14. Overall though, the ambiance and food are great and it's worth a visit.

Lovely night! Had the 5 course tasting menu which was delicious. Lovely warm space... sat by the fire. Impeccable service! Only negatives are that the portion sizes are very small, and some were over salted. My favorite was the shrimp and grits.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. This place doesn't get the recognition it deserves. We love fruition and Barolo grill but this place may be even better than our usual favorites. Please come and visit if you want an amazing dining experience with an innovative menu. FOIE gras lollipop? Yes. ONION RING DONUT? yes. Please, come here!

What lovely service!! Our waitress was so wonderful and personable, and knowledgeable about the food! We enjoyed the four course tasting menu but you can also order ala carte! The menu changes frequently as they try new things all the time. It was a funa MD unique menu! Enjoyed the French influence for sure. I'd recommend!

All around amazing experience! My friend and I dropped in for a drink and maybe a snack, but after a look at the menu, we just had to try the tasting menu. Everything on it looked so creative and delicious and it was. Pretty much everything is made and/or grown on site too! And our wine and drinks were thoughtfully chosen with the help of the knowledgeable staff. We had a wonderful conversation with the owner and sommelier as well! You can definitely tell that the people here are passionate about what they do! 10/10 recommend, will be back for sure!

I'm giving Bittersweet 4 stars, but honestly it's a COVID 4 stars. If we weren't in the middle of a pandemic where things are tough for everyone but especially the restaurant industry, I'd be giving bittersweet no more than 3 stars, unfortunately. I booked this spot for my husband's birthday thinking it will be special. We were the first people there and first I must say that the indoor area is very cute with just a few tables and they also have a good amount of outdoor seating. Since we were early and no one else was there and it seemed like it might rain, we opted for indoor seating. Our server was OK. He didn't try to go above and beyond and that's fine. They did not remember that it was my husband's birthday either which I'd told them about. If it had been busy I'd have understood them forgetting from maybe being short staffed but no, there was no one there. It was a bit disappointing to say the least. I wanted my husband to feel special, even if it was just a simple acknowledgment and we didn't get that. The menu gets updated seasonally per their website and the menu we got wasn't bad at all so we were very excited. Their 4 course tasting menu option is a crazy deal so we went with that. For starter we had the cantaloupe tartare and elote. The tartare was definitely interesting and paired nicely with the bread and goat cheese. The elote was OK, definitely not bad but not special either. For 2nd course we opted for foei Gras and summer flatbread. I'll start by saying I'm usually very particular about foei Gras, and if it's on the menu, I'll have it since it can be such a beautiful dish. At Bittersweet it was... OK, more on the disappointing side as the foie Gras itself was not seasoned at all. Like no salt whatsoever. Which I get could be how some people like this dish, but given the tables also didn't have salt/pepper it could have at least been nice to have it served with a side of salt as well. The majority of places I've had good foei Gras it's always been seasoned but again, maybe that's just a preference. The dish paired OK with everything else on the plate though the waffle was just dry, bland and again disappointing. I think what was slightly frustrating was the dish had so much potential and it just wasn't there. Anyway, the summer flatbread though on the other hand was quite tasty! The ingredients on top were obviously quite fresh and they blended beautifully together on the perfectly proportioned flatbread in terms of bread to topping ratio. For 3rd course we had the rabbit and short rib. It kills me to type this but this course was also disappointing to me. The rabbit was just meh. It was cooked 3 different ways but none of them were that great. The best thing on the plate were the carrots taste wise, nothing was seasoned that well and it was all just, not impressive at all. Again, note that I'm judging Bittersweet by the type of restaurant they're advertising themselves to be. Anyway, the short rib dish was OK, again, nothing mind blowing. It wasn't falling apart which is usually how I expect short rib to be. It wasn't bad as it was actually seasoned, but it felt underwhelming. For dessert we had butterscotch and forbidden donut. The forbidden donut was so, so good! Honestly (and to be honest, sadly) it was the best dish of the entire meal - you really don't want dessert to be the best dish of a 4 course meal, you know? Anyway, the forbidden donut - if it's on the menu and you don't mind your blood sugar skyrocketing, I'd highly recommend you try it - the brioche donut was out of this world amazing. The only downside is you really gotta eat it when it's hot cause then it quickly gets soggy and loses all its texture. The butterscotch was quite tasty as well and was definitely another sugar rush - the custard went perfectly with the raspberry ganache and whipped cream. Overall... I'm sad to say this was a disappointment for us as we expected more from Bittersweet. I also was really hoping they'd say happy birthday, or bring out a candle on top of the dessert or write happy bday on the plate or something... especially bc I'd asked for something to be done, I wasn't just expecting it but had asked for it. Anyway... Maybe our experience was like this bc of covid, and while I probably won't visit again, I hope your experience will be better than ours.

Hidden gem in the middle of Wash Park. Food is creative and amazingly delicious. Perfect for summer evenings on the patio. Fantastic recommendations from the staff for food and drinks. Chef accommodates for all diets. A must visit.

I had dinner here on New Years Eve and what a treat. I love the small, intimate space which is beautifully appointed. It feels very upscale and we enjoyed the fireplace in the dining room. While I was there with my friend, it's a great date spot. It wasn't as busy as I expected on such a busy night, but I think the owners decided to keep the crowd small to excel in service, which they did. Our glasses were rarely low and courses came out quickly and were incredibly beautiful. A warning for some. This is a small tasting menu. It's not Cheesecake Factory with a million choices. They design the menu to compliment fresh, seasonal ingredients which I love. But if you want a lot of choices, perhaps a chain restaurant is more appropriate. Now let's get to the food. I had the shrimp tortilini which was excellent. My second course was the pork and beans, another delight! I don't typically eat meat, but every so often I splurge and tonight was it. The pork belly was tender and cooked perfectly, the cassoulet beans were amazing and the plating was simply gorgeous. The next course was duck confit, and it didn't disappoint. Not as pretty was the pork and beans, but wow was it tasty. Perfectly cooked, juicy and fell off the bone. I was in heaven! For dessert I had the cranberry lemonade and it was phenomenal. A must try for anyone who likes lemon tarts. Simply delicious. Shout out to Jeni our server. She was amazing and I'm looking forward to going back again to try a new menu!

The food was outstanding, very creative. Well prepared and thoughtful. It's in a great location and parking which is such a plus down around that area. The wine list is also lovely overall had a really nice dining experience.

WOW! My partner and I were blown away by Bittersweet's delicious food, generous service, and all around superb experience; the only thing "bittersweet" about our experience is that we didn't patron this place earlier! We cannot wait to come back. Food/Beverages: We had their tasting menu, and we cannot believe the amount of high quality food that we had the pleasure of devouring. When our server told us that they don't skimp on portions, she was not kidding! I was full by the second course and my partner and I waddled out of the restaurant so happily full. The quality of the food is superb and I was so excited to try each morsel; the attention to detail in each dish really shines through. My favorites were the smoke salmon cannoli, potato leek soup, and the duck pot pie. The duck skin was perfectly crispy and the meat tender; you can smell the delicious duck fragrance that I feel many places just don't get right. The desserts were also so generous and decadent; this is in contrast to many other places where I feel the dessert is a bite or two. And lastly, I have to comment on the delicious bread that they make in house and serve with a honey butter. It smells heavenly and tastes sooooooo good. I could have eaten that for dinner and been perfectly content. Ambiance: Intimate dining experience with cute purple accents throughout. We were seated next to the fire place and I loved that extra warmth. Service: Excellent! Our hostess/server was so lovely - she even opened the door for us as we were walking to enter! She was so knowledgeable about all the dishes, prompt, and oh so generous. Really made our dining experience incredibly special. Pricing: $75 for a tasting menu that is WELL worth your money given the quality and quantity of food that you get. Tip: come hungry!

I was in Denver on a business trip and chose this restaurant after some quick Google searches and reading positive reviews. Overall, I had a very good dining experience here. Upon arrival, you will notice the parking lot is quite small. It can hold 5, maybe 6 cars only. Though, this wasn't an issue for me since I dined on a Tuesday night around 9:15 PM and was able to park there. However, at a busier time when it is full, you will have to find street parking in the area. I was able to make a reservation through Opentable. The atmosphere is very intimate with small dining areas and lights dimmed low. I believe there are two dining areas with the one I sat only had about ten tables and four chairs at the bar. Since I was eating solo, I chose to sit at the bar. Classic rock songs quietly played over the speakers. There were only three small parties dining with me at the time, so it was nice and quiet, and you could converse without having to yell at the person. I feel this would be a great date spot! The staff were very friendly. I exchanged small talk with the bartender and hostess while I enjoyed my meal and they polished the glassware to a sparkling shine. It was nice chatting with them. As for drinks, they serve an assortment of wines, bottled beers, and cocktails. They do not serve draft beer. The bottled beers are all craft beers ranging from IPAs, to stouts, and ales. You will not find Coors Light or the like. If Coors is a must, then head over to Golden, CO instead. They advertise a few signature cocktails, but the mixologist is knowledgeable enough to conjure up most one off or specialty cocktails you fancy. I felt like a beer and decided to try Lion Stout from Sri Lanka. It was a great stout and paired well with the meal. For the meal, the menu is simple. Just 'Starters' and 'Main Courses'. There were six main courses including short ribs, scallops, steak, and ricotta ravioli. I chose the ricotta ravioli which consisted of one large ricotta and sweet potato ravioli, veal, mushrooms, pickled cabbage, and cherry tomatoes. The meal was delicious with the veal tender and ravioli soft with a lot of filling. I was presented with a dessert menu with offerings that sounded tempting, but decided to pass this time so I wouldn't have to be rolled out of the restaurant.

I appreciate what they are trying to do here but unfortunately the food just wasn't very good. It's a cute restaurant and has a friendly staff. We felt welcomed and we're looking forward to wonderful meal but unfortunately... 1st course: I had the bbq pork macaron. The pork was fine, the beans were actually pretty tasty but the macaron was so hard and gritty it was like eating sand. Ruined the dish. 2nd course: I had the Italian sushi. It's risotto with ham. It was a cute dish and was almost good but the rice was terribly undercooked making this round a miss as well. 3rd course: Heres where it gets real bad. First of all they had changed the menu that day without updating the website. I generally don't have a problem with this but downgrading from beef tenderloin to short rib is a major drop, going from lamb to ramen is a major drop. (Side note: fifty bucks for a bowl of ramen? Really???) I had the short rib. It was terrible. The root beer sauce tasted like chocolate. The beef was dry and chewy. The charred broccollini was grilled poorly, it had a terrible chemical creosote flavor. They are way too expensive to be making such amateur mistakes.

This restaurant should be mentioned in the company of Potager and Mizuna. Outstanding service, comfortable, elegant ambiance, and every dish will give the foodie something to remember. Such an unknown gem, and well worth a visit.

Bittersweet was an absolutely amazing dining experience. My girlfriend and I spent Valentines Day dinner there and we were both beyond blown away. Both her and I agreed it was not only the most decadent presentation we've ever seen in person, but the gorgeous, original plating was coupled with the most vibrant and delicious flavor I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. The high quality ingredients used in all four courses all worked together to accomplish a remarkable, yet affordable experience for the diner. The word of the night; Cohesion. Everything just worked. This is the first time I've ever left a review, and it's simply because Bittersweet was the first place that I genuinely felt deserved a few more minutes of my time after I left it's cozy atmosphere. I look forward to returning again soon.

Am I allowed to leave two 5 star reviews? Yes? Ok, perfect. This was our second time being here and honestly I don't know why we didn't come back sooner. We talked about coming back so many times. Today was the day. All I can say is that this place will not disappoint. I just wanna scream about the spring pea ravioli. The duck? Just plain stupid how good it was. Brought back memories with the gravy and biscuit pieces. Just yum. I love this place

My first forray into fine dinning in Denver and it was good, solid 3.5 stars, but some technical flaws made it hard to raise it to the 4 stars. I know I've been spoiled for great food in Chicago and throughout Europe -- so maybe take that into account. Several dishes were examplary, delicious, creative and executed well. The rest were fair and felt a little lacking in confidence. Again some technical cuisson based slip ups led to this score on my review. Overall I loved the creativity and originality, service was good and wine pairings (while no out of this world wines) were pretty much on point for every dish. I will definitely be back to try it again, as I gravitate towards creative cooking and am curious what they may offer on another trip. Looking forward to giving them another shot!!

Wonderful place! So fresh, inventive. I've been coming here for years and it never loses it's charm. they really care about every detail. Tonight loved the beet salad, bolognese, steak, rabbit and creative desserts - especially the Beautiful Colorado. You won't be sorry. Wish we could come every week.

Bittersweet is a restaurant that will give you dining pleasure not tinged with bitterness; the name literally refers to the the concept of the menu and its ingredients and flavors. We parked across the street and notice that they have a small parking lot that only services a few cars. The restaurant's interior is super chick and lavish with a bit of Miami white decor. The place is arranged in a intuitive way with the main dining area in front, private dining room in the back with a bar segregating the two. Nice place to impress a date with. The service was outstanding, our waitress was very knowledgeable and offered a few suggestions. Really nothing to complain about regarding the service or accommodations, five stars. We ordered the Parsley Spagatini for our appetizer, which was served slightly chilled. It was made with lardons, bacon broth, smoked garlic, oregano and egg yolk, and it was superb. Very interesting to incorporate spaghetti into a cold appetizer. For dinner we decided to order the Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye. The delicious and tender ribeye sat on top of brussels sprouts, smoked sweet potato and butternut squash purée, all garnished with bone marrow butter. This dish screams bittersweet, with the sweet potato and squash balanced with the bitter brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked rare with a charred exterior, very tender with savory flavors. Overall, it turned out to be a sweet experience with minimal bitterness; however, I was not blown away as I expected. Definitely a place I would recommend to dine at, just not a five star establishment. We were also informed that on Thursday's, the restaurant offers a prefixed menu with wine pairing for a measly $50 per person.

Believe it or not. Home made pastas are hard to find. When I find them I am absolutely happy. This is such a cozy spot. It's about 9-10 tables. A small bar. A very promising outside seating with the requisite heat lamps. The service feels like you're in a close relative's house. Very warm and yet professional. Our food came out with minimum wait. We shared a main course of their awesome Ribeye Steak and their Tagliatelle home made pasta as our starter. The pasta was a delightful surprise to us both. It was not the usual instead the taste was almost in the vinaigrette side but in a good way. Very refreshing! The steak was my choice and I think is their most expensive dish. It was worth it. Very tender. Good portion. Meaning shareable and definitely it comes in their own unique taste. I will definitely have both dishes again! I had their old fashion as my choice drink for this night but they definitely have a great amount of special cocktails with unique names. An awesome addition to the above superlatives? A private parking lot. Not huge but it's there. Tip: as mentioned by our server. They have a tasting menu every Thursday @ $50/person. Here they introduce new dishes. That includes dessert!

This place is enchanting. We have been here 4 times and each time I'm blown away by the food, service, and ambiance. The chef/owner helped us pair the wine last night and then gave us recommendations on where to travel in Italy. He lived there for a while and the restaurant now benefits from everything he learned about high quality ingredients. My husband and I have been to almost every restaurant in Denver. Bittersweet wins. Every plate was an experience.

Vitiated on a Tuesday night for a work dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We sat outside and the garden is such a beautiful site to see. The waitress was attentive, sweet, and helpful. All the food was delicious. I got the lamb and highly recommend you give it a try. Would love to visit again when back in town!

We were visiting Denver from Arizona and my boyfriend decided to surprise me with a nice dinner. He found this place on Yelp and made a reservation. Everything was amazing. The food was great everything was super fresh and our server was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We were celebrating my birthday, they brought us each a glass of champagne to celebrate.

We've been twice for Thursday night dinner. This place is absolutely fantastic. For $50/each we had a lot of wine along with four courses of really imaginative and very high quality food. We'll be there every month to check out the new menu. It's really the best deal in town these days.

This is a culinary triumph as far as seasonal cuisine goes! My friend and I had a celebratory dinner here for her last week in town and we couldn't have picked a better place for the occasion since we're both foodies! Bittersweet provides such an organic dining experience from the cute garden seating, natural wood dining tables and chairs to the super fresh seasonal ingredients! Ambiance: natural, warm, inviting and intimate. The restaurant is divided into two dining rooms to mimic the feel of a large dining space inside a home complete with fireplace and buffet tables. The open kitchen and bar connect the two rooms. Food: the talented chefs use the best ingredients of the season as inspirations for the menu. The menu consists of a mixture of small sharable plates and large entrees. We ordered the cured salmon, potatoes, summer salad and farfalle to share as the portions are relatively small. Each dish is beautifully plated and what I call edible art! The freshly baked bread was absolutely delicious with whipped butter! All the wonderful flavors just exploded in my mouth every time I take a bite of the food. We were surprisingly satisfied after our meal despite the small portions. Service: our waitress was very attentive and provided excellent suggestions for each course of the meal. Parking: there is a small parking lot with 6-7 parking spots but street parking is easy to find in the area. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves seasonal cuisine with highly inventive dishes!

A lovely neighborhood spot with a beautiful patio. A little pricey, but every course is delicious and I was surprisingly full after the meal. Staff was very accommodating and friendly.

Bitter but not so sweet! Had the restaurant week menu with wine pairings. Food was flavorless and wines were mediocre to bad. Service did nothing to make up for the food. Nothing to remember - will try to forget it! Can not recommend and won't go back.

I would say that Bittersweet is more about the experience than anything. We happen to come on a day where they had a set price tasting menu with a wine pairing. Everything was amazing! The presentation was almost artistic. It's a small place with a quaint outside patio. Reservations highly recommended. The menu & portions are small so keep that in mind.

We visited on a Friday night. Every table was full, hurray for them. Sadly, that made the noise level inside painfully loud. Which made it hard to hear our server. Which she apparently didn't like, because she stomped off three separate times while interacting with us. Food was great, albeit small portions as noted, and came out an hour+ after ordering. Cocktail menu was really interesting, and the cocktail ordered was delicious. They were out of the cider (cue server stomp off) and the soft drinks were terrible. They were happy to create a vegetarian option for us. Parking was really problematic. Best to take a Lyft. The server really was terrible and unprofessional, including her attire of a camisole. Luck of the draw, the other servers seemed to be very friendly. Some baffles on the walls and ceiling, some personnel changes, and its easily four stars.

Met here for much needed girls night out. We sat at the bar and decided to do just drinks and desserts. The restaurant had a very intimate feel and I could see going here on a date. The staff was knowledgeable and very courteous. Our cocktails were very tasty and paired perfectly with our desserts. We ordered every dessert they had and we were so happy with this decision. The plates came out gorgeous, something you would see in an extremely high-end hotel. Each dessert was different and absolutely divine. I had a hard time picking my favorite but I'd have to say the pineapple upside down cake might have been it. My girlfriend's fav was the chocolate cake. Highly recommend, we had a great evening and I will go back.

Excellent food beautifully presents and excellent service. Denver is fortunate in have some of the best restaurents in the country and Bittersweet is one of them. We have eaten all over the world in some of the greatest restaurants and Bittersweet compares favorably to all of them. This husband and wife team deserves a James Beard award and a Michelin Star. I just hope when they receive those awards, I'm able to get a reservation.

What a surprise this was! We live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try it out. Did not disappoint! The wine was delicious (and interesting!), the food was phenomenal, the service was great, and the patio was such a joy to experience. Many others have mentioned small portions, but I didn't find them to be too small. The appetizers were fair, and although smaller than a typical American entree, the entrees were also enough to fill me up. Would recommend this so anybody, and we can't wait to go back! Their menu looked like it might be seasonal -- we will definitely be back soon to explore more dishes there. P.S. the chilled zucchini soup was out of this world!

There's a lot of upscale, fine dining restaurants in Denver, so you really have to stand out to make a lasting impression. I'm not sure Bittersweet stands out or will make a lasting impression on us. We came in for restaurant week and there were only a few tables with people. My husband got the wine pairing, which he enjoyed and they even accommodated his request for only reds. I got a cocktail that was really delicious--had it not been a weeknight, I may have tried another one because they have some delicious looking choices. They were also pretty pricey, so not sure I would want to pay almost $30 for two cocktails. The food...such small portions, even for a tasting menu, compared to the price. Our appetizer was our favorite course. The pasta dish was good, however, almost too al dente to the point where it was almost crunchy. I would have enjoyed this pasta so much more had the past been cooked for one or two more minutes. Our entrees were good but nothing to write home about. The dessert left a weird aftertaste in our mouth but was good otherwise. The presentation of the food was beautiful at least...but I'd rather pay and get more food than pay and have really pretty food. The service was very attentive, but again, there were two waiters, a host, and two bartenders for only like 4-5 tables of 2-4 people each. I'm just not positive we will be back, at least for dinner. The table next to us did not do restaurant week and they all got different desserts that looked delicious and creative. I'm not sure what the prices were on these, so not sure if it would be worth it, but I could see us coming back for a drink and dessert only.

We have always had an amazing experience here until now. We made reservations for 7pm on 1/28/22. We arrived early to have some drinks at the bar when it was unusually slow so we were seated right away which is ok. Overall here is our summary. Our waitress was amazing and well the food was terrible. First we received pretzel bread which was burnt but I was told it suppose to be like that. Then I received a burnt duck dumpling followed by over cooked tenderloin and under lamb chops. They tried to impress us with the Duroc pork coarse which was a fail. Lack of seasoning and pork tendy was dry. Finally finished with a blame desert too. It was like eating chocolate with a pinch of sugar. The champagne cake was dry too. It also didn't help that the manager was dismissive and didn't honor compensation. All he did was comp my two beers and not my Fiancée's wine. So disappointed, my bill was 207$ for nothing. Hope they get it together.

Michelin star quality food. Unpretentious but elegant atmosphere. Staff are friendly and the service is very attentive. The wine list is not the longest, but there are some great selections that are hard to find in Denver (grower Champagne selection was particularly impressive). You can have a low key or special evening here, but we love the tasting menu (which is a pretty good deal at $75). Have dined here several times and have always left thoroughly impressed and happy!

Go here! A true gem with a comfortable setting and great staff. Food can hold its own with anyone and as a new resident from Chicago, Bittersweet could certainly compete with anyone there. Great for special occasions or upscale date night. Give them your support - they got it right.

The Italian family meal was very good and the price was quite reasonable. We will be ordering from them again. We are looking forward to when we can go back for indoor dining.

Food is great but not worth the stop for Restaurant Week. $45 for a small three course meal. The portions are super small that we left still hungry. You pay for the presentation. Overall pretty good.

We had dinner here last night. We were a party of six adults. Our server was Amy and she was outstanding. We were seated at a very nice table in the front room. We were immediately all given a glass of champagne. Amy said I hear it your anniversary. That was very generous. Can't tell you how many times I book a reservation for a special occasion and there is no mention. So this was a great surprise. The food was unbelievable. I think its the best meal I have ever had. We had three different appetizers that were all a pasta. Which is homemade, as is the bread which was wonderful. Between the 6 of us a few order Hanger steak, one Lamb shank, one Monk fish and I had the Short Rib. We all argued that we each had the best entree. The presentation was beautiful. We had fresh pressed coffee and homemade ice cream for dessert. I really thought the entire evening was outstanding. Amy was very very nice and helpful.

This is by far the WORST place I have been too. I asked for my food to be extra hot temperature . Did I get that??? No i didn't. Would I come back?? When hell freezes over.

Went there for dinner one night. Walked in and order a beer and Champaign for my wife. Not only were they out of the beer I ordered but out of the next 4 beers I ordered. On to dinner. The have 6 choices on the menu. My wife wanted the fish. Of course they were out of fish. I ordered the hanger steak. I got literally 1/3 of a steak. 95% of apps at any other restaurant are bigger. When I left her $128 later. I went down the street and got a burger. This place is a complete NO. Don't waster your money.

Oh man. So overpriced. The service was (just) OK, but overall the meal was definitely not worth the amount we paid. Our waitress was rather flippant and we didn't feel justified in the amount we paid. The food was good - I had a steak dish, and everything was presented nicely, complemented each other, etc. But I was left feeling super hungry. Overall - a treat-yourself meal, but not one for the books.

Bottom line: Service was stuffy and unfriendly and the food was solid but not worth writing home about. First time there, brought some friends from out of town for what we expected to be a showcase of Denver's food scene. Our waitress started out cheerily enough, saying she would take us through "the journey". She recommended a starter and main course for each person. When we told her nicely we'd be doing something different, man, it was like she lost all interest in serving us. Hard to get the time of day from her after that. Who is willing to tolerate this when there are so many other good places to go with extremely friendly service?

Without a doubt this is my wife's favorite place to eat in Denver for the last four years. Bittersweet is the place I take friends or clients when I want to blow their minds. Everything about this place exudes a superb dining experience. Service is always excellent, attentive and friendly. But the DRINKS. They are artists when it comes to cocktails. While they have a great wine and beer list, but you are missing out if you don't have at least one of their crafted cocktails. The food is always creative, pretty and tasty, if a bit small when it comes to serving size. It works, because you have to save room for their incredible dessert.

Wow. Wow oh wow. Food was brilliant and the tastes made you think and appreciate. Take your loved one here for a real treat. Well done.
