Google
We dined in at Bittersweet Kitchen for brunch for the first time this past weekend. Our server, Heidi was very helpful in describing the dishes and pointing us in the direction of customer favorites. She even threw in a few extra complimentary items for us to try! We tried 2 of the omelettes in rotation, the western omelette and the prosciutto, asparagus and ricotta omelette. Both tasted great were accompanied by crispy potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit with some honey butter you whipped up yourself.

Google
The Southern Pileup was incredible, 10/10. The potatoes were fantastic, biscuits divine, eggs cooked perfectly, and the sausage gravy was indulgent and well seasoned. The service was also great! Looking forward to coming back. The space was a little small and loud in a cozy quaint way. Exactly what I expected for the location. The space was clean and charming.

I’ve been coming to media a couple times a year for business And I usually get the terrible hotel breakfast. But this morning, I decided to go out and actually find something good. I ordered something called the Southern pileup and it was absolutely delicious. Had me scraping my plate at the end.

Google
Really great spot . Stopped in with my girl one morning and had a really great experience. The food to the atmosphere was all top notch . Blueberry fritters were fire

Google
Cute little brunch place in Media :) The place was packed with people, but they served our food quickly with reasonable wait time. The food quality was decent, too. I met an old colleague here and we enjoyed a little brunch and a walk around media to check out local shops after. It's a good combination of activities for a chill weekend.

Google
A very nice smallish cozy place with very good food. The hot chocolate and the homemade biscuits were the showstopper. The food was overall tasty and prices very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.

Google
Small place just off State Street. Quiet when we arrived, but quickly filled up. Service was friendly and pleasant. Menu choices all seem delicious. Pecan banana pancakes were great! Bittersweet breakfast was very good, with the home fries amazingly crispy. Will come back

Google
It can be a bit small for a large party, but they were very accommodating. Don’t plan on being seated unless all of your party is there but like I mentioned they were accommodating. The food was okay. My grits were cold but they were okay. I also had the sausage gravy which was also not very hot either but it was good with the biscuit. The atmosphere was okay. The company was wonderful. Not sure if I’d go again but possibly if others wanted to. My friend had one of their signature sandwiches that were featured in a local newspaper. That’s why we were there.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend for brunch on a Saturday, he lives nearby. The wait was a totally reasonable 15 minutes! The overall experience was great, with cute indoor and outdoor seating and kind workers. We got the French Toast BLT and the Grilled Cheese Combo. Both were fantastic and miles above average, and I've been to a lot of brunch places. We WILL be returning and this will be our go-to spot going forward. This is not your average brunch food. French Toast BLT was the ultimate meal for sweet and savory lovers, with maple syrup on the side for dipping. I got it with an over easy fried egg per the recommendation of another Yelper; amazing addition! It's also a huge portion, you will have enough to save for later. Highly recommend! The Grilled Cheese Combo is an amazing comfort food meal that will make you want a nap after. Pesto grilled cheese with nicely spiced tomato soup for dipping! My boyfriend couldn't finish it. We shared and I loved it as well! Could see myself ordering both our meals again in the future. Definitely check this place out for brunch if you're in the area!

Yelp
This was my first time at Bittersweet Kitchen, and I had high hopes. Maybe I went on an off day, but my buttermilk pancakes tasted like that stuff you used in preschool. I think it was called Mod Podge. I prefer light, fluffy, flavorful, and fresh pancakes. The bacon was tasty, although not even close to hot. I did tell the waitress that the pancakes were underwhelming so she took them off my bill. I purchased a blueberry scone and that also had no flavor and was the softest scone I've ever had. I'm passing, but everyone else in the restaurant seemed happy with their food.

Yelp
It was a busy morning due to a power outage in town. I was offered a seat at the window ledge but declined (bad knees). I was then offered a table if I was willing to wait. Seated 15 minutes later. Barely acknowledged. But order taken promptly. Food delivered swiftly. No coffee refill, no water refill, no asking if my meal was tasty? It was. Though more like chicken flautas, then enchiladas. And was given change for a $20 in fives. I could tip $2 or leave $5 for an $18 bill. Normally, I'm a good tipper but there was barely any service. That said, it's clearly normally a friendly place. There were plenty of regulars. I clearly was here on an off day. I love the kid's toys. And I have dined outside where it's not so loud. And had better service.

Yelp
Bittersweet Kitchen might have a wait, but it's worth the wait. And that comes from 4 hungry runners after the Philly Half Marathon. We found that the servers and restaurant owner/manager were both extremely kind and attentive, and while waiting, we enjoyed the interior decor. The restaurant itself is slightly small, but it makes up for that space with its bubbly atmosphere and homey interior decor. I liked that peaceful dining experience I ordered an omelet with a side salad and biscuit and found the food to be hot, filling, and not-too-greasy. As a girl who lives in the South, I'm used to my brunch being way too heavy, but Bittersweet Kitchen hit the balance just right. My friends who ordered the huevos ranchos, the tomato soup, and the spinach omelet also agreed with me. We also split an order of the pumpkin donut holes for the table, which were delicious and not too sweet! Next time I am in Media, I will definitely pop back into Bittersweet Kitchen for the great service, ambiance, and delicious food.

Yelp
What a great woman owned and woman run business in Media. Not out there frequently but out there whatever I can. Their southern pileup is my favorite and I never deviate. My younger son still talks about their breakfast after being there once

Yelp
The brunch is amazing here. I got a Grilled Cheese Combo -- so good. My girlfriend got a French Toast BLT -- very flavorful. The staff is friendly. We got seated fast on a Saturday and food came out relatively quick!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to go for breakfast/brunch in media. It's so cute. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious! The only thing I would add is I wish they had lattes & cappuccinos... but you can still get a good cup of coffee and a new selection of teas.

Yelp
Great lil spot! Shotgun review: - Good coffee - Friendly service - Quick experience* - Tasty, imaginative food** - Plenty of gluten-free options - Nice bar/window seats with street views *We went on a Wednesday morning at around 10 AM. I bet it's much, much busier on the weekends. **I couldn't decide between a sweet or savory experience, & when the server suggested that I could do both, I was delighted. I tried their French toast BLT on gluten-free bread & I'm very glad I did. As promised, it was both sweet & savory. Totally delicious & very filling!

Yelp
Really good food and a cozy atmosphere, would go back. Went there with friends this weekend for brunch. Ample street parking available (app required). Easy to park and walk over. No waiting area since it's a small restaurant. They call your cell once a table is ready. Some outside seating if you want to use that, it got windy. Simple menu for brunch, they do have some omelette specials which our server walked through for us. I went with blueberry pancakes, they were huge! Delicious with lots of blueberries and with a side of syrup. I could only finish half of one of my two pancakes and took the rest home. My friends went with the bittersweet breakfast and added bacon, it came with a lot. Very good. It can get loud when packed. Price was reasonable. Would go back to try more of their menu.

Yelp
This place is worth the hype. Everything tasted amazing, even my picky friends were impressed. The wait staff were friendly and everything came at a reasonable time, considering how busy they were. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This is a cute spot in Media for breakfast and lunch. There's street parking. There's indoor and outdoor seating. It smells delicious in there. We tried the Bittersweet Kitchen eggs and Avocado Toast. Everything was delicious. They have Coke products.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Bittersweet but it will not be my last. From the beginning, you're greeted with kindness, there was about a 15-20 min wait, we arrived at 11:20am on a Saturday. Inside was packed so we asked to sit outside, it was a little chilly but I preferred the space to enjoy my meal. I ordered the steak and eggs, absolutely delicious. It was served with breakfast potatoes (the best, they are fried and crispy), a biscuit (I swapped the original biscuit for the bacon and cheese, soo good) and a side salad. The steak was wonderful and the eggs were nicely made. The entire meal was one of the best brunch meals I've had. The bacon and Cheddar biscuit was so good, please get it. My cousin got the special, a cheesesteak omelet and she loved it, so cheesy and the steak was cooked perfectly. Expect a wait but enjoy the delicious food.

Yelp
I went a few weeks ago and got the pesto grilled cheese with tomato soup and it was amazing. I want to go back just to get it again! Everyone was so friendly and we had great seating by the window. Awesome spot in media for brunch

Yelp
Cute cafe with exceptional service and good coffee. I adore their pancakes with real maple syrup which are fluffy and taste yummy.

Yelp
I like the burgers a lot.The staff are kind of rude though. The overall experience is nice because the restaurant is in the heart of media.

Yelp
My review's are a based on: Presentation, Taste, Service, Ambiance. I came in with 3 guests on a sunday morning in the middle of July and the orders are under the pictures. Presentation - The presentation is what you would expect of a small, local brunch restaurant but they were missing a proper host stand/host in order to manage the influx of people coming in. From my observation it was just a person that was standing in the front of the restaurant with a piece of paper and cardboard and was just calling people from their personal phone to notify them that a table has opened. The plate presentation was what you would have expected from a restaurant like this and had no complaints. Taste - My guests and I thought the food was very run-of-the-mill and was good but did not leave a lasting impression. Perhaps adding a hollandaise or some sort of sauce to compliment the food would have raised my impression of it. Service - Our waitress was young and I imagine our experience was due to a lack of experience on her part. She was very kind but waited more than 10 minutes before greeting us initially, and our food did not come out for another 30-40 minutes. Granted, the place was busy but she did not come to our table until I flagged her down about 20 minutes in to ask if our food was coming soon. Ambience - I would say they were successful in creating an ambience that matched their "local, small breakfast spot" goal. I think there should be some sort of divider (maybe glass) between the kitchen and the tables adjacent to it to create a barrier between the two areas and a more pleasant experience. I think the open kitchen was a nice touch but some more spacing is needed. Overall, the experience was average and there were some improvements that could be made but it was enjoyable. I would not recommend big parties for this space as it is too cramped and I would recommend two to four people max. I also think the prices were fair for the experience.

Yelp
This was a good find while in the burbs to celebrate a birthday brunch. A super small spot off of the popular Main Street in media adjacent to the court house. We happened on this spot based on reviews . It's a popular weekend spot Judging by the 30-45 min wait. We walked around media to pass the time. It's a small space with only minimal seating and additional window stool seating. The menu eclectic with classic breakfast with a fun twist. They have a bunch of breakfast specials too that make the menu even better. We started with fried pickles and the apple fritters because why not.... There were four of us two of us ordered the southern pileup which was a fresh baked biscuit with sausage gravy and breakfast potatoes. This was very good hot and savory dish. Generous portion and filling. One ordered the French toast BLT which was an enormous sandwich served on Texas sized French toast with good quality bacon. One ordered the special scrapple omelet. We added on a toasted corn muffin which was served with the best pepper jelly. Don't sleep on this spot it's a solid choice for a good breakfast whether you want classic or elevated breakfast. All in 113.00 including gratuity . This is pretty good for breakfast considering we had two starters. The ambiance is the reason for 4 stars . Could use some brightening. Service and food were good we will have to add this to the rotation .

Yelp
Very much enjoyed this little restaurant. Showed up on a whim caught between breakfast and lunch. With an array of breakfast, brunch and lunch offerings there are plenty of choices. There are no reservations, and not surprisingly, the place was packed, inside and outside beneath the red/orange canopy umbrellas. The host is a pro, maintaining a wait list and calling those as their table comes ready. It's tight, inside and out. Diners, walkers, parked and parking cars, dogs, kids. The tuna melt, open faced with provolone and tomato over marble rye is delicious and complimented by home fried potatoes. The turkey burger is also a hit. Somehow kept juicy and well cooked without being dry.

Yelp
I went there for breakfast a few times and it was great BUT now I'm getting their pizza on pizza night and it's awesome gourmet custom pizza that you cant get any better , it's a fork and knife deep dish two slices and your full ! The toppings are fresh and great selection . There is always a special that's creative and delicious. Try something different. You may like it or you may love it.

Yelp
4.5 stars rounded up. No frills but really solidly yummy neighborhood brunch spot. The Bittersweet Breakfast is exactly what I always want: eggs, added bacon, perfectly crisp and airy potatoes (surprised at how good they were!), and a biscuit with honey butter, the perfect mix of sweet and savory. My husband tried their Western omelette and it was pretty good. The carbs seem to be where they shine, though, because the cornbread with apricot jam was delicious and we also liked their blueberry fritters with lemon ricotta sauce. There are a few outdoor tables, otherwise it seemed a bit packed inside. Service was relatively quick and friendly. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Recently visited Bittersweet Kitchen with friends for brunch, and it was amazing! Delicious food, great atmosphere, and friendly staff. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
Now I will say it's a little tight inside but the staff are amazing and the ambiance is welcoming. The food is beyond great with a garden fresh vibe , and my wife is gluten free because she has celiac so the menu and staff were great with this.

Yelp
The food in the service was excellent good homemade kitchen food with a twist atmosphere solid cramp and noisy for breakfast, but not social gatherings and lunch

Yelp
We waited leads thank 20 mins for out table by the windows. Made the crème brûlée pancakes with theirveggie omelette . 2 cups for Joe. What is delight! What delicious fresh food. Service was good!!

Yelp
Their breakfast/brunch is delicious and absolutely always a win, but people! PEOPLE! I beg of you, do not sleep on their pizza! Or do, it'll leave more for me.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, good vegetarian options and a nice, kid-friendly brunch spot. My kiddos loved the pancakes and I had the stuffed French toast. We were there on a weekday and it was pretty crowded, so I bet it's busy on the weekends. Would definitely return!

Yelp
I was visiting Media to meet up with a friend for breakfast! She told me this was her go-to place to get brunch so I was really excited to try it out. IT WAS AMAZING AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! I wish I lived closer to it!! I got the Southern Pileup dish! If you are hungry and like chipped beef, I would HIGHLY recommend getting this dish. It featured a buttermilk biscuit, topped with over-easy eggs, and cheese, and smothered with what they called "sausage gravy" with a side of breakfast potatoes! This was a great portion size, definitely on the bigger side. I have never had chipped beef before, so this was an excellent first try! The homemade fries were absolutely delicious and CRUNCHY! The homemade biscuit was the perfect thickness level, still fluffy texture, and buttery taste. My friend, who is from the area, got her favorite Crème Brûlée Pancakes. These looked soooo yummy and had an amazing burnt sugar crunchy top with delicious vanilla pastry creme in between the cakes. This is a very quaint spot and I look forward to coming back to try their more unique breakfast selection. ONE tip though, walk in early and get on the waitlist! Then take your time walking around the town while you wait for your table to be ready! My friend said there is always a wait on the weekends!

Yelp
Had high expectations after reading the reviews. Cute little place. We were greeted and treated warmly throughout the meal. Wife got the blueberry pancakes and ordered a biscuit to try. I ordered a special which was spinach, tomato and feta omelette. I also ordered a side of housemade sausage. So the good: the biscuits were very good and should be tried because they are unique. The home fries were also good. Things that fell short: the pancakes were thick and dense and not much taste on their own. The omelette could have used more feta as it was hard to taste it. Without the briney feta flavor the omelette was bland. The housemade sausage was overcooked and dry. Had a bunch of herbs in it yet I did not find it tasty at all. Could not eat it

Yelp
I went during the week before work so it was not crowded it all. I am glad i looked up Breakfast close to my work. What a hidden gem. I had the Jelly Donut French toast special. It was AMAZING. 2 pieces of Challah bread dipped in french toast batter with a strawberry preserve sandwiched in the middle. Then it was fried and dusted with sugar. It was one of the best breakfasts! I can't wait to go back with friends during the weekend to explore more of the menu. Staff and coffee were great! Reasonably priced!

Colleen W.

Yelp
Love this place the food is so good. If you go on a weekday you won't have any problems getting a table.

Yelp
My favorite brunch spot. Food is always fresh and all of the portions are huge. French toast, pancakes, home fries, omelette and any egg dishes all to die for.

Yelp
I am only visiting Media for a short time because I was here for my sister's wedding. My boyfriend and I came here to get some breakfast in the morning--we chose it based on the pictures online. Looks delicious!! When we came in, a very nice waitress sat us immediately. There were plenty of tables, and they really utilized the space that they had. The tables were close together, but not too close that you had to yell in order to have a conversation. There was some abstract art on the walls that did not really have anything to do with breakfast, but was cool nonetheless. Our waitress was very timely and took our orders quickly. We ordered and it came out within 20 minutes, which to me is perfect timing, because it gave me and my mans enough time to chat for a little before housing down what was probably the best breakfast combo I've had in a long time. The portions were perfect and there were lots of gluten free options. I left feeling perfectly satisfied and not too full after eating the whole thing. Not to mention it was DELICIOUS!!! I would have taken a picture but I was too busy indulging in such a yummy meal--it completely slipped my mind. This place was great, the staff were nice, and the food was delicious. Would DEFINITELY recommend to a friend, and will for sure be making another visit here next time I find myself in Media. 10/10

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for breakfast in Media for sure. We came at 8:45ish on Sunday for a party of two and got right in. There is typically a wait at this place so if more than two people are in your party, I'd be a little prepared to wait. The dining area is small, and tight. They added some outdoor tables, but only a few. Every table was packed when we were seated. We were seated in a little corner built in booth which I actually preferred over an actual table because the tables are right in the middle of the restaurant which gets crowded. Our booth was at least off to the side, however we were still pretty on top of the people next to us but it is what it is. There were a ton of little kids the day we went so it was so loud it was a bit overstimulating. The food and service is what will keep me coming back. Their scratch made biscuits are just so delicious. The bottom of the biscuit has a nice little crisp to it but is by no means burnt, while they top and mid section is fluffy and pillow like. I got a side of strawberry jam to have with mine which was perfect. As my entree I ordered an omelette which was on the specials for the day that had tomato, mozzarella, and basil. They fold it up in a cute little square which I thought was a fun presentation. Everything in the omelette tasted very fresh and the eggs were not overcooked, however it needed salt for sure. The potatoes that came with the omelette were so well seasoned! My wife just got the standard breakfast platter with over easy eggs that were cooked perfectly. Service was great at checking in on us despite how busy they were!

Yelp
Visiting Media for the weekend for my niece's graduation. I am so happy we stumbled upon this restaurant via Yelp. I put in the filter for local favorites and Bittersweet Kitchen came up. We had the strawberry fritters, mushroom, spinach, and feta omelette and tuna salad. Everything was delicious and the service was phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Handily five stars. Amazing brunch, great service, nice location. Homey, cozy, very casual venue with fresh and tasty faire. The quality more than makes up for the wait. Bittersweet takes no reservations. In our case, we came early and our wait was less than 10 minutes. And a salient feature of the restaurant is that they are open on Mondays, a day when most eating establishments are closed The portions are large enough for two. I had their avocado toast that came with roasted potatoes. The thick toasts are spread with avocado, covered with bacon and topped with two sunny side eggs. Delicious. Their cheddar grits are to die for. All of it washed down with really good coffee. Superb everything.

Yelp
The 20 minute wait for brunch was well worth every minute! My family were in town visiting colleges and daughter found this place. What a find! I had the mushroom bacon and cheese omelet and asked if they could give me a cheese other than blue cheese. Not a problem! And delicious. Perfectly prepared with fresh mushrooms and just right! The house made biscuits are huge, soft and sweet. I think they are covered with a honey butter after baking, but not sure. You can get honey butter for the biscuits if you like. The breakfast potatoes are large cut and very tasty. Diner 2 had the southern mess- I think that's what it was called. A split biscuit covered in delicious sausage gravy, over easy egg and cheese. I tasted the sausage gravy and it was very well seasoned. It's a lot of food along with potatoes and very very good, said Diner 2. Diner 3 had the other omelette special of the day- arugula and caramelized onions. She says it was great. She asked for fruit rather than potatoes and had a cup of beautifully sliced apples, strawberries and grapes. Looked fresh and she said it was great. Diner 4, looking at colleges, ordered the crème brûlée pancakes. Two huge pancakes with vanilla cream between and topped with caramelized sugar. How could this be bad? I would recommend this place and honestly, if she goes to school up that way, I would definitely be back. The menu hAs some beautiful breakfasts and lunches just waiting for me to come back to.

Yelp
A friend in NJ loved this place so much we went twice in January! Food is always good and options and combinations are bang'in quality! Cider is good too, but I think the fair trade coffee wins for me! Can't order a wrong thing. I think their tomato soup is a winner and pairs well with their excellent grilled cheese. Ham & cheddar egg sandwich on pineapple bread is a surprising winner, and so is their Southern pileup (buttermilk biscuit topped with over-easy egg and American cheese, smothered with sausage gravy | served with breakfast potatoes. ) Another friend wanted to patronize this place with me last minute. I tried their French onion soup avocado toast and just a straight forward nice meal. Everything is freshly made, tastes good, and is a reasonable price. Can you ask for anything more? Okay, maybe a 2nd bathroom and more space would be really helpful for this popular quality, local establishment.

Yelp
Omelettes are amazing. Be sure to get here early. It gets busy! Good service and atmosphere as well. BYOB.

Yelp
My partner and I come here all the time. It makes for such an intimate morning date. We enjoy the location, the friendly staff, and accommodating menu. The artwork in the restaurant creates a lovely environment. He really likes the coffee and always finds something new and exciting to try off the menu. I stick to the classic pancakes and side of house potatoes because they're just so good!

Deb H.

Yelp
Everything is great about Bittersweet Kitchen- the food, waitstaff, and the vibe! The biscuits are too good- how do they do it? Breakfast or lunch, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Small cafe, limited seating; food is good, well presented - a bit of a wait, not terrible; friendly staff; sit down only

Yelp
II love Bittersweet! Bittersweet and House are tied with my favorite breakfast places in the area. I looove Bittersweet's breakfast specials, which make up for the smaller menu. The waitressses are wonderful and I've never had an issue with an order or seating.
google avatar

Anita U.

Yelp
I'm so sad this place isn't closer to where I live!! I was in town for a week for work and I came here twice because it was too good to not come back. I ordered one of the omelettes on the specials menu which was artichoke bacon and mozzarella. It was perfectly cooked and the bacon stayed ridiculously crisp even in the hot omelette. The potatoes were crispy and the side salad was very well dressed. The staff is very friendly and it's like walking into someone's home and having them cook for you. Definitely will be back if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
This is such a lovely spot in Media. They have indoor and outdoor seatings (both spaces are not too large), and their breakfast/brunch menu is so good! I had Huevos Rancheros, and my friend had Bittersweet Breakfast. Huevos Rancheros is packed with potatoes underneath the crispy tortillas, topped with eggs over easy, and sauce. It was so good, I finished the whole large servings! My friend said she always get the Bittersweet Breakfast esp for the biscuit. The service was good - efficient, friendly, and attentive. Location is good too. There are enough parking spots around the area so parking was not an issue. I highly recommend this place if you are in and around Media!

Yelp
Came here with a friend. It's a small intimate type of place. Was greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in. Big plus! Then the waitress came over and explained the specials for the day. She made the accommodations that I needed graciously. Brought us French toast with berry's & whipped cream. It was delicious! They have decaf tea & coffee. HUGE plus for me. I love quaint little places that are nice to their customers and have delicious food to boot. Will definitely come back!!

Yelp
Good food, good service, friendly staff. Tried out this place for breakfast on a Sunday morning, was happy with our choice. Wife and I put our name in, always a good sign when there are people waiting outside. Quoted 30 mins, host asked for my cell, and within 30 mins, got a call from Michelle our table was ready. Took the 30 min wait to walk along State Street. Service was spot on, food was tasty, price was good. I had the special, a cheesesteak omelette, with a side of bacon. Wife had a Grilled Cheese combo, which had a grilled cheese (sourdough bread, cheese, pesto) and a tomato soup, ordered a side of cheesy grits too. All the food was tasty, no salt/pepper needed, ripped it up. Recommended if you are in the area.
