Yelp
Obviously it is a wonderful mission to provide a workplace where people of all abilities can be employed. I support many organizations with this aim. In the case of a coffee shop, it would also be desirable if this could happen alongside of delivering a reasonable product. While the employee made sure to prepare orders quickly and accurately, the espresso is not made from a classic espresso machine--which, is often the primary reason espresso drinkers go to a coffee shop and pay $5 for a cup like I did. Beverages are made from an Keurig-type machine on which orders are entered on a touch screen interface. It is similar to machines that sit in the lobbies of car dealerships. There are some coffee grinders--so it's possible that beans are ground fresh and are then poured into the Keurig (I am not sure). I ordered a small iced espresso with a splash of whole milk. They do not have whole milk. My drink was made in an extra large plastic cup and served full to the brim. What I ordered would only result in about 3 ounces of liquid. Aside from this, speaking only for the beverage I paid for, unfortunately it was not drinkable.
I was excited to go to Bitty and Beau's because the reviews on Yelp were fantastic. I realize now that the reviews often focus on the atmosphere and mission of the coffee shop. Again, such a mission deserves all of the stars in the world. I didn't order any food (if they have it)--perhaps those items are great. There is a lot of available seating. I also saw some cool merchandise. I loved a golden cuff bracelet that read with the message "#not broken". I don't usually associate coffee shops as a place to go to get cool jewelry and shirts but if there is someone who does, then that could also be a draw for someone wanting to visit this establishment.
One last tip: speaking of car dealerships, your GPS will tell you that the coffee shop is in the surrounding car dealerships. The shop is situated in a car dealership park, coincidentally enough. I had to drive around the block a couple of times to realize that you need to actually pull into the Cadillac et. al., dealership parking lot in order to find the shop. Parking is pretty accessible.
