Serving since 1972, this downtown mainstay is where generations meet for breakfast burritos, chilaquiles, menudo, and classic American plates. Featured by Arizona’s Family in 2025 and fondly cited by local writers, the family ownership and steady morning lines tell you all you need to know.

Been here twice already and definitely recommend giving it a try. For a spot being hidden, it's worth the visit. All the dishes on the menu are hard to choose from because they all look great. Service was great both visits and the environment in the restaurant is very cultural.

The Chorizo Skillet is a large meal and really delicious. I love their hot sauce and ask them to add refried beans to the skillet. I have never had a bad meal here. If you want a smaller plate the Chorizo plate is also very good. The nachos with red and green chili is a real treat. It is large enough to be a meal for 2 in itself. The red chili chimi with rice and beans is outstanding. If you like chimichangas you need to try it, expect to take some home. The 1/2 Red 1/2 Green Chili Bitzee Skillet w/ Beans was really good. I prefer the Chorizo Skillet but the Bitzee Skillet is a nice change. I returned for the Chorizo Skillet w Beans. This time there was a little confusion, I received the beans on the side. I simply scraped the beans over the top and proceeded to enjoy a delicious meal. As usual I had to get a togo box for my leftovers. What a fantasic meal.

Wow!!! What a great meal and conversation. Stumbled upon this restaurant and it was delicious. Family owned amazing service the ladies are sweet and humble. The breakfast skillets were delicious. We will be back to try green chili and thwor soups. The homemade chili is very tasty. Make sure you check the hours they are different from most restaurant but so worth it. Stop in and enjoy!

We saw the Arizona Highways show, and always try to support small, local businesses. I can't say this was a great experience. We arrived, and not one person acknowledged us,or the couple in front of us. There were 5 tables in the front room empty, and dirty. We saw at least 4 servers, and not one said anything to us waiting at the counter. I don't care how good the food may be, you have 1 chance to make a first impression. NOT RECOMMEND.. Editing..you can clearly see how long we waited. I think 15 minutes and no one saying a word is unacceptable

Google
Place like 50% occupied and we had to wait 10 minutes to order and 47 minutes for these. They dont even offer chips and not the nicest attention for sure. First and last time we try this place.

Esther Lopez

Google
Food fantastic! Our server was not. My husband and I ordered our food at 10:45 and asked for chips. She told us no on chips because they make them fresh at 11:00. We got our food 11:05. We saw chip baskets going by to tables. So, we asked for chips since we got our plate after 11. She said to us sarcastically, "This is NOT how it works here!" We then said to her never mind, never mind. She brought them anyway and we said to her that we traveled all the way from East Mesa to try this place. Her demeanor changed, but by then we were already upset. We are fantastic tippers, only gave her 16%. We will travel the length to return to Bitz-ee Mama's again because the food IS delicious. The red chile is fantastic! We will tripple the tip next time and not ask for chips so we don't get humiliated by sarcasm.

Google
Ordered a hamburger and fries to go. They didn't ask how to cook the burger. It was well done. The service was fast and friendly. The burger was kind of meh. It wasn't horrible but I probably won't order it again. They provided mayo and ketchup on the side which was nice.

Google
Amazing food, and even better service. This place definitely deserves 5 stars! The breakfast burrito with chorizo was great.

Yelp
This was my first time here and it was amazing. The service was great. Our waitress was very sweet. We had huevos rancheros and red chili w/ eggs. It was so delicious. Best I've ever had.

Yelp
The first time I went here was years ago, maybe a decade ago, during Glendale Glitters. The place has been here for years. It is small, but the food is not. I ordered once during curbside services when the pandemic was in full swing still. I recently placed an order for pick up, since I was working from home and could get it during their business hours. I think they are only open for breakfast and lunch, so that is why I don't come by more often. It took a bit longer than promised to get my food, but they were pretty full for lunch, and I only saw the two servers. The food was heavy once it was handed to me, so I knew it would be substantial.

Yelp
A fixture in old town Glendale. If you want a classic breakfast and are in the area, give it a try.

Yelp

Yelp
Full flavored authentic food with friendly staff. It's a small place and we showed up at 130 (they close at 2) and there were still 4 tables there. that's a good sign. I had the Machaca, i recommend the regular one over the breakfast one. Both are full flavored and great but the regular one has a lil more wetness to it that makes it better. Rice and bears are good as well. The chips and salsa, oh man the salsa has like 3 layers of flavor as you eat it. It's free when you dine in. It's also family owned and been around like 50 years, passed through generations and each learning the recipes from the OG owners. I will def be back in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
Food, service and atmosphere was outstanding! Salsa was amazing and bought a jar to bring home!
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is amazing. The staff is awesome. If it wasn't so far from us we would eat here once a week. Chili Relleno to die for and the salsa we could drink.

Yelp
So this is our annual trip, my wife and I come here every Mother's Day except 2020 because it was closed that Sunday. We live in S. Chandler and it's quite the trek for us to come here but my mom loved this place so we come here in remembrance of her. We get the Chorizo plate and it has to be the best in Arizona. Don't forget to pair it with the Hot Sauce, it's so good, we get a pint to go. This place is amazing, the staff is great, always have been. It's right across from Downtown Glendale and there is always something going on down there. If you're close by, you have to come here! It will be worth your trip!

Yelp
Met a friend for her birthday breakfast. Arrived about 9 on a smoking hot Wednesday. Restaurant is small and simply decorated. Every employee I came in contact with was friendly and happy. It says a lot about a business when employees are laughing and smiling. My dining companion ordered her favorite, the red Chile omelet. I had a bite and it was good. Meat tender and flavorful. I opted for good old fashioned American breakfast. French toast with a over easy egg and bacon. Food arrived quickly. My French toast was perfect with that fluffy egg batter. Without syrup it actually tasted a little salty. Add that maple syrup and it was P E R F E C T. Egg cooked good, bacon crisp. Normal bacon and eggs. The French toast definitely stole the breakfast show. Overall it was a above average breakfast experience and I will definitely return. Soon. Prices competitive and a positive, warm and inviting atmosphere.

Yelp
Best in arizona over 25 years food is FRESH HOME MADE FLAVORS ARE POPPING ,breakfast lunch dinner anything American or Mexican

Yelp
Posole and chicken fried steak were both really delicious. Minus one star because I wish my posole had been HOT. It was barley warm when it arrived at my table and I felt rushed to eat it quickly or eat I'd be eating cold soup real soon! Taste was spot on for everything. Service is good and you can tell this place is a neighborhood favorite since many people were addressed by their first name and the vibe seemed familiar.

Yelp
The best chorizo, pozole sand menudo in town! The ladies are the best and the service is great.

Yelp
Every time we go, we are greeted with kind faces and a homely environment. You can tell that the people here love working here and are a family. The food is amazing too and very well priced!

Yelp
We tried this place over a decade ago and I wasn't to impressed with the food but chance brought us back to this place yesterday in old Glendale and new owner. . The food was amazing. I'm really surprised it only has 3 stars. The green sauce is probably the best I ever had with hatch chiles and I eat Mexican from all over the country. Well at least 15 other states. The meat was tinder and very good. I tried everybody's plate at our table and I loved everything I tried. I was a little sad they didn't sell alcohol but I had a nice cup of tea with honey and lemon. The staff was extremely friendly and checking up on you regularly. I look forward to trying both-ee mama again.

Yelp
We go every year to spring training in Glendale at Camelback Ranch. Always make sure to head into Old Town Glendale at least once for breakfast at Bitz-ee Mama. Great Mexican breakfast, Huevos Ranchers, Chilaquiles, etc,

Yelp
I wanted to take my parents out for Mother's Day and wasn't sure where, did a google search for Mexican breakfast and ended up here. It was delicious, waitress who turned out to be one of the owners was really nice and attentive. Came out spending less than $50 on 3 people, that rarely happens anymore. I'm definitely taking my husband and kids there next.

Yelp
Passing through Glendale Arizona we were told to try out this spot. Amazing Mexican food, absolutely authentic which is becoming hard to find. The service was very very good and super friendly. The ambiance is average simple but very friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is delicious but there like a pop up shop you never know if it's open because they close on a Whim which is very frustrating when you drive 45 min and find out there closed at 12:30 instead of 2:00
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing fresh food. Fresh homemade salsa and tortillas. Great friendly service Mexican Breakfast

Noah C.

Yelp
Love the weekend pozole here, the portions are amazing such that most of the time I can take some home to finish later. The staff has gotten to know us when we come in on Sundays and are very friendly.

Yelp
Was recommended to go here by someone who ended up being a shady realtor, but that's a story for another time. Funky vibe, friendly solo waitress greeted from across the restaurant and indicated I should choose my seat. Food came promptly. Light on cheese, which was disappointing. Rice was very nice and fluffy. Chimichanga was nicely fried with an unexpectedly light but crisp crunch. Chips were subpar with an odd flavor and texture. Guacamole black on the edge which was a turn off. Prob won't be back unless I was going to get something simple like a cheese crisp.

Yelp
Located smack dab in the middle of Old Town Glendale, this restaurant is hidden away for sure. You would need to know that it is here because you do not see it if you drive by. The inside is not fancy and for sure this is a locals haunt. The menu has all of your typical breakfast offerings and the Joe is good too. Why come here? If you are just looking to get a good breakfast and get out the door without breaking the bank, this is it. The restaurant has a deep family feel and interaction between the staff and regulars is like a family gathering at Thanksgiving. The walls are lambasted with art that has been contrived by local artists. Every piece in here is for sale and radiates a feel of the southwest. While here you will experience a diversion into the Latin American culture. If you are in Glendale on business or just for fun, it is a breakfast experience. This is a no frills restaurant, so don't expect the Phoenician if you choose to venture here... Hasta Luego y comes mucha comida... #Vino2 #vinosquared #vino2ultimate #irishcatv2

Yelp
We've been coming here for years during Glendale Glitters. We always made this our dinner spot for that but don't think we'll be doing that anymore. This year we came on an off night, half the place was empty, yet they had this elaborate check in set up outside. So we try to check in, we are told it's a 15 min wait in spite of the fact that when we walked in there were plenty of empty tables, only to be escorted outside & told we had to check in on the sidewalk, not in the actual empty restaurant. So we tell them we'd like to wait & they don't even take our names! After waiting a few minutes only to be told, even tho were at the sidewalk check in, that the person who is checking everyone in there is not the actual check in hostess & we have to wait for that person to give our names to, we said forget it & went to another restaurant. In years past I've noticed how complicated this place makes it during busier times. It would be one thing if the food was amazing, but it's really not worth going thru the hassle & jumping thru the hoops they make you jump thru just to get a seat...or the wait to even take your name when the restaurant was only half full.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Mexican food plus great service! Best Chorizo on town!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Should've stayed home and had cereal. I was in the mood for a big bowl of Menudo for breakfast and the restaurant a few doors down was not open yet so I came to this place. Everything from the time I walked in was a waiting game. Wait to be seated, wait for the food, wait for my drink that had disappeared to come back, wait for the bill. The menudo was just OK, I suspect it wasn't homemade. The waitresses weren't exactly over attentive but I don't believe it was their fault. It was a pretty busy morning and they may have been understaffed. Overall it wasn't a horrible experience, but just bad enough to where I will not go back again. Too much waiting and mediocre food. Sure wish I had stayed home and had that bowl of cereal now.... Would have saved about 16 bucks.

Yelp
I recently had an 80th birthday party for my husband in which Bitz-ee mama's catered , everything was excellent. I have also eaten there several times; the food is amazing , fresh, and the workers are also kind and generous willing to give anything asked or needed. The atmosphere is almost equivalent to eating dinner in your own home. Bitz-ee mama is veery clean. All and all I would recommend to everyone !

LeAnn D.

Yelp
If you want a friendly, relaxed restaurant with good food, try Bitzees. We just had a large family party and it couldn't have been a better experience. Platters were great and beans and rice were delicious. Shoutout to our server Teresa. She never stopped and had a great attitude while dealing with so many people. Lulu and Christine, ladies you are the best!

Yelp
This place has been here for very long time and the remains to be fantastic! The food is amazingly affordable and the service impeccable. My favorite is their breakfast and make sure you bring an appetite as the portions are generous.

Yelp
Great food and very friendly. The owners are the servers and they do a wonderful job. It has been in Glendale many years.

Yelp
Food was great just like my nana made! Can't wait for return to try more of the menu! We had the menudo and chorizo with eggs - Highly recommended

Yelp
Great service on a busy day. It sits right across from the town square so I'm glad they decided to stay open during closed hours to service the Chocolate Affaire. No alcohol on the premesis it seems but that doesn't bother me. The initial chips and salsa are delicious but not for those looking for more Caliente. Fast service and friendly people.

Ivan P.

Yelp
Saw this place in the news a few months back. Decided to come and try them out during the week expecting it to be slow. It was slow and still had to wait for my food for awhile. My table was sticky and also the floor. I ordered a green Chile chimichanga which was not great. It was not even fried. The chimichanga had more sauce than meat. I could've had a better chimichanga at Federico's. Not a good experience overall.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a greasy spoon that I've been going to since I was a small child. Some of the same servers are still working there and I love them, they are on top of their game. I usually order the skillet with green chile and flour tortillas, absolutely delicious. It's old and the booths are torn up but I don't care, I love it!
google avatar

Bill A.

Yelp
Had a little time to kill this morning got the special. The server was alone with 3 other large parties. She rocked it keeping everyone happy food came out fast and was great. Looking for that home town dinner in Glendale no need to go any other place.
google avatar

Tim T.

Yelp
So I should have stayed away from the name alone. Didn't read the reviews, so I take that one. Looked cute enough and that's the only Positive about this place. The salsa was bland, even the hot...:asked the waitress what the best thing was and she replied the green chili. I wish I would have gone to Taco Bell. They have flavor. The green chili was a mix of water and cream of mushroom soup with something green thrown in..... no flavor at all. The beef tasted like cardboard. The best past about this place was the check, so I could leave. Safe yourself and go across the street to subway.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved walking into this cute quaint spot filled with locals. Coffee was great and strong and the meals were huge! I ordered a skillet and I was delicious! Highly recommend

Ricky R.

Yelp
Awesome little hidden gem in the wall. Was greeted as soon as I came in, salsa was delicious!! Especially when you mix the hot one with the chunky!!! Definitely will be back to have some more of their food!

Christine P.

Yelp
We met these two ladies last night at a taco truck and they were willing to share their table with us. We got to talking about food and found out this own Bitz-ee Mama's in downtown Glendale. We decided to go check them out and we are soo glad we did. We ate the Pozole and the Chorizo and couldn't get enough of them, we kept passing each other's plates back and forth. Felt like being in my family's house. This place is legit and we will come back!! Thank you for sharing your table and we are so glad we met you guys!!!

Yelp
Menudo/posole are amazing. Try the Mexican breakfasts. This is neighborhood Mexican comfort food. Been going for years, many weekends you will see Glendale Firefighters having breakfast here (hint, hint).

Yelp
Ok, let me tee this up. I was in the area with my Wife and she wanted to check out the antique shops nearby. Well, I wanted to watch the football games. So, while she shopped, I popped in here for a Beer & some food. I tried the Abondigas Soup and Chips & Salsa. Both were ok. There aren't too many TV's in the restaurant, so I got luck that there were only few tables and I was able to find one with a good view of one of the TV's. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They were probably wondering what I was doing since I spent 4+ hrs in there watching football while Wifey was shopping. LOL Would like to come back for dinner sometime. The rest of the menu looked pretty tempting. Return Factor - 70%

Yelp
Bitzee Mama's isn't my mama! My mama wouldn't have kept her hungry son waiting forever for his lunch. She wouldn't have let my go thirsty with no refills. She does make a good bowl of salsa so that makes it alright, right? Took my real mama there for lunch.. I ordered the taco salad and ma ordered the cheese enchilada plate.. also a bowl or red chile. Taco salad was alright except the taco shell was so mushy from water it literally fell apart when I picked it up.. glad I wasn't eating the shell. She's old school.. makes a darn good cheese enchilada and refried beans. Struck out again with the red chile.. I swear, can no one except La Canasta make red chile? While the meat was tender and the sauce was smooth it had a weird orange color to it and the meat tasted, well wasn't any beef Ive ever had. On the way to the counter to pay my bill I noticed that almost everyone was eating chimichanga's.. well then, looks like I ordered the wrong thing! Place is also uber cheap. Be careful what you order and mama will be just fine.

Yelp
I've dined here since before there was a Yelp! I'm talking waaaay back, like Peabody's-machine way back, when getting your first AOL dial-up connection was a big deal. I don't think much has really changed...well, except that I have the option of downing a margarita at 11am without any guilt. Something about having a live band at ANY hour brings out the charm in tequila. My liver was (surprisingly) not up for that, so I focused on strictly food. Something about their lunch menu seemed to fall kinda flat. Their chimis with green chili are pretty good, but nothing you couldn't get better at other restaurants. With my last visit, I realized that BREAKFAST is what makes this place shine. For a mere $7 I scored a generous chorizo plate with an egg and some refried beans. All with a huge flour tortilla on the side. The first meal of the day goes largely ignored, but with a dive bar atmosphere and solid morning menu, Bitz-ee Mama is something to look forward to on Sundays.
google avatar

Yelp
GREAT OLD TOWN GLENDALE DINER. Don't miss the live music for an awesome VFW-like, all-Formica, orange-vinyl dining experience. All that's missing are the brown-striped plates. This is _real_ Glendale, no corporate paint color standards and standard-issue banded-collar button downs, just old school eats and smiles. --Live music Sundays 10:30 to 12:30; bossa, blues, honky tonk and diner rock --teeming with regulars; staff makes you feel like family --service prompt and courteous. My heart would have exploded from caffeine overdose had I taken them up on all the refill offers. --this is the essence of non-corporate bliss in a local joint. --if you like the Tee Pee, you'll love this place. --Mexican undertones in fajitas, chorizo skillet and posole --all American favorites too. Cream of mushroom-based gravy is thick as can be. --dishes that could look good did look good (I'm giving a pass for my gravy-covered eggs and hash -- it LOOKED gross, but tasted great) --great Sunday breakfast spot --right in the middle of antique shop nirvana

Yelp
My shop is right down the block from Bitzee's and we had to work late a few days last week. Good thing, cuz I had the chance to try Bitzee's nachos. They were so awesome, I ended up eating there 3 days in a row & shared the chicken nachos with my hunny each time. The nachos were smothered in...everything! Chicken was very flavorful and moist, and the portions were so huge that even though I shared (and I'm not a big fan of sharing) we were both stuffed! I'll be back for sure :)

Sylvia C.

Yelp
I saw on Fox10News about a week ago, on their homemade tamales. They looked so yummy on TV. Decided to give them a try. And they did not disappoint on the red beef tamales. Nice and big, not too spicy just the way we like them. I called ahead to make sure they had some and when I got there, waited a few minutes and came out nice and hot ready to eat. Thank you! Will definitely order again!

Yelp
Good food! Cheap price compared! Did not bring jelly with toast! Steak not smooth, to hard and hard to eat! Bathrooms need to be restock with soap and fix doors. Your staff needs to have clean hands when serving and cooking. Bathroom size for restaurant is to small... I see has a health issue... I was giving out wipes for people waiting in line to use the bathrooms...

Shelly S.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall stopped and had a great breakfast! Staff was super friendly and food was reasonably priced. Would definitely go back!
