Ok. It's CHOCOLATE! What's not to love. The place was well laid out and had plenty of room for me to get through with my mobility scooter. The samples were yummy as were the items that I purchased an tasted later. I don't know if there's anything that I wouldn't recommend. If I had to come up with any complaint it would be that they need to have some sugar-free options and some more darker chocolate options for folks trying to cut back on carbohydrates.

Worth the trip to the factory store, filled with charming and helpful people. Delish chocolates and treats. Caramels are a perfect texture. Peanut butter bites are *chef's kiss. Rich flavors, not too sweet and those with salt have just a hint. Loved everything we bought. (And then ate within 24 hours!)

We absolutely love Bixby Chocolate! Our personal favorites are the Needhams—the magic of potato in a dessert never fails to surprise and delight our guests :). The bonbons like salted caramels are irresistible too. One thing we especially appreciate is how they're constantly innovating and introducing new flavors and confections almost every year. We can't wait to try the chocolate sardines next! It's wonderful that many local retailers carry Bixby products, but we particularly enjoy ordering directly. Their beautiful packaging makes it a joy to send our favorites as gifts to friends around the country. Highly recommend this awesome treasure from Maine!

I just took the tasting and factory tour and it was outstanding. This Maine company takes chocolate from bean to candy bar. The flavors are amazing, the samples are plentiful, and the execution is flawless. I highly recommend a visit to this establishment if you appreciate quality chocolate.

This awesome little hidden gem. In maine will get your chocolate cravings going nuts. I had no idea that from the outside. It looks very small but once you walk in, it's a very big store. You can actually sit down, enjoy chocolate, and also they serve gelato ice cream. I've lived in Maine for 3 years and finally got to go here. And they did not disappoint.

Excellent experience in this charming shop, we arrived before they were officially open and they allowed us to come in. We left with amazing, "killer" chocolate treats!!! The samples were to die for!! This shop is so spotless, you can see into thekitchen where the treats are made. This is truly the chocolate shop of my dreams!

Gordon, the owner's father, was kind enough to give us a tour and the back story behind this hidden gem!

1st time visitor - Am a local who enjoys Bixby chocolate and always wanted to stop by and check it out. Quiet little factory/office/storefront on the wavefront in Rockland...just past the Coast Guard facility. Lots of items you don't normally see like coffee and hot chocolate. Great selection of their offerings along with gift items and Maine themed stuff. I found it perfect for loading up on stocking stuffers. I'll be back and will bring friends!

Yelp
PLEASE NOTE: This was for nationwide shipping. Bixby & Co. is a woman-owned craft chocolatier located in Rockland, ME. They make chocolate confections using natural ingredients, certified organic ingredients, and certified vegan ingredients too. They offer "chocolate with a conscience": meaning their beans are ethically harvested and their workers throughout the production are treated well. Bixby & Co is committed to fairness, sustainability, having a minimal environmental impact, and enhancing their local and worldly communities. Love 'em yet? Wait until you try the chocolate... For me, one of the best chocolates being made anywhere (I mean *anywhere*), is their vegan needham made with rich coconut and creamy potato dipped in dark chocolate. IYKYK. This is a time honored Maine treat that we've been eating since the 1800s. It's in every one of my thank you gifts to people, it's my favorite thing to give friends from away (... especially those hesitant about eating spuds in their candy bar), and we allllllwaaaaays have them in our fridge. They're bite-sized and come in packs of two or four. Their Bixby Bars are super satisfying, too. Dense, sweet but not too sweet, texturally interesting, filling - they're great for traveling with. My favorites are Nutty For You [peanut butter, chocolate, sea salt], Heart's Delight [strawberry, cinnamon, almond], and Toboggan [pistachio, cranberry, sea salt]. At this point I've tried nearly every vegan thing they make. While I like most, admittedly I'm less of a fan of the slabs of chocolate; for me, they're underwhelming compared to the needhams or the above mentioned bars, but I appreciate their collabs with local distilleries and mills processing heritage grains (also they're award winning chocolate bars, so I know I'm in the minority here!). Also, the dark chocolate covered espresso beans are too cocoa powder-y, and overall dry, for my liking. If you're in the state, you'll see Bixby & Co at grocery stores! If you just love chocolate (and doing good with your dollar), you should place an order no matter where you are in the US, because this is absolutely some of the best there is.

Yelp
This is one of those places you stumble across exploring new towns. We thought it would be a small chocolate shop. Wrong, it's the chocolate factory with a small retail space. The lady behind the counter was very friendly. She even suggested a place for lunch. Then she helped us pick out some items to go. Toffee and bon bons left with us. Really cool spot.

Yelp
There were signs around town for a chocolate factory and tasting, and well, I could not resist. I sought this place out and found it down by the water in a nondescript brick building. There was a sign that helped me find it, and I was so happy I did. You can see the production and all their products and how they are also packaging stuff to mail out! Everyone was very friendly, it was spacious, and there was samples! So of course I tried many new things and ended up getting plenty to take home. Definitely stop here if you are in town!

Yelp
Fantastic! I moved to Maine over a year ago & I have to admit that the food out here is a little bland. I have lived in a lot of different states. There are a lot of candy shops everywhere, but we stumbled across this place & I'm in love. The candies taste so fresh, they actually make everything from scratch, and the staff was unbelievably nice. We live up the road and can already tell I will be going there often. So much flavor, freshness, and just a feel good place to go. They have coffee you can get by the cup, a couple of delicious samples out for tasting, and it's right next to the water. A pleasant hidden gem for my small town! No public restroom so go before you get there. Don't let that be the one thing that stops you from going. You want to go here.

Yelp
Chocolate lovers rejoice...this hidden chocolate boutique is for you! Located a block or so off the main road with the shops & restaurants of Rockland you'll find this women owned chocolate store. The shop is located right inside the factory so the building appears a little more industrial from the outside and has a no frills shopping experience. While you can find Bixby candies in a number of shops in Maine, definitely swing by to see them make the chocolates and have a wide selection of chocolates to take home - everything from bon-bons filled with unique flavors like strawberry rhubarb and mimosa to dark chocolate bars! There are some spots right outside but if you've parked in one of the public lots it's only a few streets down toward the waterfront.

Yelp
Wow. All I can say is "Wow". This place is invested in what they are doing. If you love chocolate... yes.

Idk I.

Yelp
horrible workplace. business owners are family but are always fighting and arguing, can't stand to stay professional for even 2 min, making other people uncomfortable. very snappy and passive aggressive people. Rude to employees as well as customers.

Yelp
We were out for a stroll this morning and were drawn in with the smell of cocoa. It is a lovely, welcoming haven. Stop in for a free sample, meet the queen chocolatier, or take a tour. It is a lovely environment, where you may enter as a guest but leave as friends.

Yelp
Ordered from here online for some valentines gifts. Items shipped out the same day and arrived to Virginia in a day and a half. All the vegan items we ordered are fantastic! Mayan drinking chocolate, Maine Blueberry Jam Bonbons , and Espresso Tahini Bonbons. Definitely excited to try a few more chocolates!

Yelp
Dropped by based on the signage from Main Street indicating a chocolate factory nearby. Once inside was given a mini presentation of the chocolate making process and able to see a factory worker in a small room making chocolate in small batches. There were samples to try and all the chocolate sampled were available to purchase. There was also ice cream from Gelato Fiasco with chocolate from the factory mixed in. It wasn't a big factory that guests can walk in and see chocolate being made, but it was still interesting to see. The chocolate was really good though a little pricey. I'd come here to buy the chocolate which I did after sampling.

Yelp
Worth walking down to from Main St as the chocolate we purchased was delicious but the staff don't go out of their way to help you. When I asked about the flavor of something the woman just sort of shrugged. Bit of a shame as the chocolate was good.

Yelp
Locally made bean to bar chocolate tasting room / retail shop?? Of course we had to stop and pick up gifts for family (& ourselves). We bought several of their chocolate snack bars after sampling. The peanut butter one was great, not overly sweet but satisfying for a peanut butter chocolate treat with a bit of crunch. The dark chocolate almond cinnamon strawberry was divine as well.

Yelp
Me and my family came to the chocolate factory today since we've heard such good things about Bixby. And I loved that they were doing presentation about where everything comes from. How the products are made and produced. And they had samples of everything which was very nice because we can then find out which products we like the best and want to buy.

Susan G.

Yelp
Make the Effort to Find this Shop I always look for artisanal, local chocolatiers when I travel and came upon a listing for Bixby on Yelp. While the factory and store are located in an area about 4 blocks off the main drag, it is worth locating. The staff will give you a tutorial on their chocolates which come from beans grown in Guatemala and Haiti and how they come to be the delicious treats they sell. There are samples so you can try before you buy. I love dark chocolate and bought several bars that were straight up chocolate and others that included fruits and nuts. My husband bought their salted milk chocolate caramels and he is now a huge fan.

Yelp
I have been a supporter of Bixby & Co. since I met the owner at the Maine Harvest Festival two years ago. The chocolate is amazing, small batch made, with ingredients you can trust, and artful pairings of flavors. My absolute favorite item is the Mayan Hot Chocolate- my go to for winter and fall relaxing- a little spicy, lots of levels of flavor from the dark chocolate and cinnamon- I make it on the stove with whole milk or coconut milk and it's so good! Definitively worth a stop and makes great gifts or just a treat for yourself!

Mandy R.

Yelp
Chocolate was delicious, but I felt uncomfortable shopping there (as if I was in the way of people who worked there), and the woman checking me out was rude. We weren't offered any tour or any information on the chocolate process. I wish I had just purchased the bars at a gift shop as opposed to making a special trip to the "factory."

Susan G.

Yelp
Fun shopping at this local chocolatier! Lots of samples to taste, a nice explanation of how chocolate is made, and delicious goodies to take home.

Yelp
Best dark chocolate sorbet ever, sinful and addictive salted caramel chocolate ice cream. Truly exceptional ice-cream. While tasting many delicious chocolate gelato in Italy, this Rockland off the beaten oath chocolate factory caught me by surprise with its luscious chocolate ice cream.
