Best Buffets and Cafeteria Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"It’s best to follow this restaurant on social media to check out the daily dishes served on the buffet here, which range from barbecue pork, mac and cheese, and baked chicken to fried chicken livers, Southern-style green beans, and peach cobbler for dessert. Look for fried fish on Fridays, too." - Beth McKibben

Google
3 ⭐️ for the service and price!! Great price for a buffet. Food is quite bland. Server was nice although I asked for a sweet tea and lemonade and she gave me basically water with a dash of tea. I switched to a coca cola and it was flat!!! We fixed our plates and.... The food... HORRIBLE!!!! Absolutely NO seasoning in anything!! Not even salt and pepper!! I didn't try any desserts as they might not have had any sugar or anything in them. I had a soda and welp... it was bland too!! Lol Flat as it could be! I won't be returning.

Enjoyed my Buffet Lunch today. Food Fresh and Tasty. Perfect place for the Kids. I'll return Sunday after Church to enjoy Meat Loaf and Pasta Meal. From Dee-Jay G-Money.

I ordered through Uber Eats. The two salads I chose were very good (cucumber salad & potato salad). I ordered the cake for dessert. The receipt noted that the cake was sold out. Instead of refunding the amount, I was given, in my opinion, store bought cookies and mini muffins. They had very little flavor.

Happened to come across their listing on Google Maps and seen the reviews and decided to check them out. Very pleased that I did. I’m always in the area and never knew they existed and now I’m glad they do. The place was really clean and quaint but roomy. I loved the selection of food for the day and everything was fresh and well prepared. I went on a Saturday and not a crowd at all as I went in the evening. Staff was friendly and the young gentleman who waited on me was very professional, attentive, and accommodating. He made sure all of my needs were met and refills were on deck. I believe his name was Josh(If not I will return to edit this review with his correct name). I had the fried chicken, a salad from the bar, Mack n cheese, and salmon patties. Everything was delicious! I’m going back to try the other dishes soon! Really great first time experience all for $15! So happy I found this place!!!

Google
Highly recommend this buffet restaurant food was delicious i mean everything i got was very good i went back 4 times which is unusual for me at buffets i couldn't help myself stand outs for us were the baked chicken, stewed beef and mash potatoes, and peach cobbler which i believe was probably the best i ever had outside of my mother's recipe very impressed

Google
So unoriginal! Not REAL Soul Food!!! Nothing but a bunch of Canned Foods, TV Dinner Foods and Unseasoned Food. I truly hate how thrown together the Macaroni and Cheese was! The BEST thing out on the line was the MEATLOAF!!! The cups of ice cream were good too! There was water everywhere on the floor in between the kitchen entryway and the food table. The bathroom was filthy and smelled like straight sewer, with water and urine all on the floor. The toilet looked as it has never been cleaned. I think this was a one time visit for me!

Google
Absolutely delicious! They were so kind, and allowed us to fill our to go plates as much as wanted as long as the container would close. We got plenty of food for such a good price.. they had all of the traditional Thanksgiving food, and everything was home made and so yummy. They also had other food if you don’t like the traditional (rice, pot roast, lots of other stuff) and a full salad bar with fresh veggies and salads! Highly recommend and we will be back. My husband and I enjoyed our food very much. We got 3 large trays for about $40, very good deal for home cooked, fresh food. We couldn’t even fit all of our food on our plates at home so they allow you to pile plenty of food onto your tray. Everything was so good. So happy we came here for our thanksgiving treat.

Google
Good food, good service. Lots of choices! Always had a good variety from day to day. Added some new good things into the rotation recently. As for the comments about this being a soul food restaurant. Nowhere in the name, advertising or anywhere else does it say soul food restaurant. This is a Southern food restaurant. Do not go in the door expecting everything to be spicy black soul food.

Yelp
My elderly Aunts and Uncles as well as my mother absolutely love this place. The staff is so accommodating to them. For this reason, all of these family members choose BJ's Buffet for all of our gatherings. They are a down home southern food kind of restaurant. And are usually pretty good. I have had bites of some of the veggies that taste like they came straight from a can. Some seasoning would go a long way in that instance. Or better yet, some locally farm to table veggies would definitely kick it up several notches, or another star, as the case may be. The staff have always been nice and extremely helpful. Even times when my patience may be running thin with the multitude of family members I am trying to handle, (like herding cats), the staff are there to assure I don't lose my mind. For this, I thank you!

Yelp
Nothing to write home about! Buffet area has a small section with food, I like the quiet environment, but the food is minimal. Food was alright, just bland.

Yelp
Homey and delicious feels like eating at my parents house! It's the food I miss. Everyone here are such kind people too. Thank you!

Yelp
We came here for dinner at the suggestion of my coworker. It wasnt busy so we were seated immediately and Ansley was our waitress. The food Selections were cool. I loved the fried chicken, yams, potatoes and green beans. The collard greens I dont recall but my mom said she didnt care for them. I love me some deviled eggs and was just saying i wanted some so when I saw them I was eggcited. They werent what I expected but after spicing em up it was okay. Overall it was a great spot located close to home and reasonably priced. For 3 ppl i paid $35. I would recommend and I plan on returning.

Yelp
It's your average soul food buffet. There was nothing great about it. There also wasn't anything terribly bad about it. The waitress was nice. She grabbed empty plates from the table and brought us drinks. The type of service you'd expect from a place like this. The food tasted average. I have one complaint. The cashier confronted my husband for not adding a tip at checkout. He had already given the waitress a cash tip. It's none of the cashier's business whether a tip was given or not. She definitely shouldn't be confrontational with customers about it. I won't go back.

Yelp
First off, the atmosphere of the restaurant is horrible. I don't know what theme they were going for but it's not working for them. There were Americana items placed throughout the foyer and hostess stand which made me feel that this would be American fare. But then there were "Italian" and "French" themed items peppered around the dining area. The Arnold Palmer I ordered was made with the weakest tea and tasted like water with lemon. The salad bar was nice but the dressing had a sweet aftertaste rather than the normal flavor of Ranch. All of the vegetables tasted like they were straight out of a can. The "hot wings" were not seasoned well and had the slightest but of color to them. Not to mention that, for a buffet, the options were severely limited. I was curious about this place for a while, wondering if it was a true Southern-style buffet restaurant--it is not. I wonder if they even taste the food they serve. Save your money and go to Golden Corral. Do not recommend!!!!

Yelp
We love it here... not overpriced. Small, nothing fancy - wonderful friendly staff. Good southern style, great fried chicken!

Yelp
Frequent BJs and Love the Buffet selection & Service. The hospitality is great and the Ambiance is country comfortable with piped in oldies but goodies Classics to listen to.

Yelp
I love the new lighting in the restaurant it brightens the place! Before it was dreary and gloomy! Quite an improvement! Way to go! I am a regular at BJ usually in there twice a week!
google avatar

Dottie B.

Yelp
The food is decent, the waitresses are sweet as can be. Was shocked when we ask for a cup to take the rest of our tea (we didn't get any refills) with us & the cashier charged us for the styrofoam cup. No one said anything about that..No one should have to pay for a styrofoam cup ‍

Yelp
Awesome first timer everything was great awesome customer service nice clean place I will be back

Yelp
I rate BJ's 5 stars for overall experience. We were seated promptly, our server was friendly, and the sweet tea doesn't send you into a coma. It's simple, straight to the point eating and that's all we wanted.

Yelp
This is the best buffet restaurant in Conyers Ga for country cooking. The service and food is great. Everyone makes you feel welcome and at home feeling when you come in. The servers make you feel like family. They always make sure you have everything that you need and the food always taste like grandma used to make. We come here every Thursday for dinner and never leave disappointed. If you want real southern country cooking this is the place.

Yelp
Cheap buffet with great quality. Kind & attentive staff. Quiet restaurant & a laid back environment. The menu changes daily so you can always find something new! We LOVE bjs!! $24 for 2 people! & tea is free! My bf & I have been going every few weeks for months!

Yelp
This was on Friday Aug. 8th at around 6pm. I had fried fish (ok), Salmon patties (not good), along with Chicken and Dumplings (BAD) with NO Dumplings and almost choked on Chicken bone still in the meat. Should have been called Chicken in yellow Goo. Service was so bad that I left no tip. She (Layla) came to the table once just to give me the check. I had to get her when I had a question and when I almost choked. When I asked for the owner or Manager, she informed me there was none. Worst time at an eating establishment I have ever had. The Senior Server was very nice and showed concern, unlike the other one. I probably won't go back, and to others I say be careful and inform them you do NOT want Layla. The first visit a couple of weeks before was good, but this one was so bad that after reading reviews it must have been a fluke and I lucked out the first time. Give it a try, but be warned. I gave 5 Stars first visit (lucky night) Gave it a One Star on this last visit. Disappointing food

Thomas L.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Warm and inviting and the food is great. Excellent selection of various foods. Watermelon is always on point. Love the spaghetti when it's on the menu. The cabbage is awesome as are the yams. Wonderful cobbler for dessert!

Shawanda D.

Yelp
There wasn't a lot of options at buffet. I guess they have different things on the menu for the week. And it didn't really taste like soul food. I won't go again.

Yelp
Went on a whim with my coworkers. You say southern buffet and I'm in. Buffets gross my husband out so I rarely get to dine at places such as this. I've been three times now. We love how one can get in and out quickly. Each day has different meats and veggies which are posted on a blackboard when you walk in. Their fried chicken is quite good. It's not dry like some places I've dined. The mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and fried okra are some of my favorite vegetables. Their baked chicken and tuna is really good as well. They have a salad and desert bar with plenty of options as well. The main course buffet doesn't have a ton of options but I feel as though there is something for everyone on it. I am looking forward to coming back and trying their country fried steak and fried pork chops. Is there a theme here? Fried My arteries love me for it. Every time I've eaten here we have had the same hostess. Blonde, young guy that is very personable and attentive. Here is the kicker....I paid for me and my coworkers meal and the total was $23.99!!!! What? Usually when we go for lunch that's my tab alone. I am pleased with the fact this establishment is only ten minutes from the office. Now if I can just stay away from the fried chicken all would be well with the world

Yelp
Great food and service! I'm planning on going again this week... I love being able to have a good meal of meat and veggies!
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
If you want just a basic southern buffet this is the place. Good food and nice clean place to eat it. Plenty of vegetables and 2-4 meats. Really friendly waitstaff. I go about every other week.

Keifer C.

Yelp
I went here recently & I wasn't satisfied with my food. The only thing that was somewhat tasty was the Mac n cheese & the roll. I did like I could take a plate to-go but I didn't have many choices. Everything was soupy & runny. Looked very rushed. Definitely Aunt & uncle spot after church.

Harry D.

Yelp
No body wanted to seat me so I left. I'll come back in two weeks to see if you've improved. Very disappointed because the food is good but I'll not put up with being ignored. Harry Davis

Yelp
Food was decent. They didn't have a huge selection but price wasn't bad at all. Chicken could of been crispier. And they didn't have much desert.

Yelp
Visiting Conyers to pick my car up at the dealer and came across this hidden gem buffet. No reviews for over 2 years so I was a little skeptical about going in. But I called and was greeted with a friendly voice and when we got there the friendliness continued. Was greeted and told how things work and we went straight into the buffet to choose our food. I love that the menu changes on the daily and you can see the buffet choices when you first walk in. I have to say I tried almost everything in the buffet and everything was delicious. EVERYTHING!! I would even go as far as to say that the food was better than a Golden Corral buffet. And it was no where as crowded as them. Great music and great food. Definitely coming back to here if I'm ever in Conyers.!!

Tracie H.

Yelp
Small family setting with good variety of tasty food choices for a great price! They have a full salad bar, desert bar, meatloaf, Baked Chicken Country Fried Steak Deviled Eggs Fried Chicken Fried Pork Chops just to name a few.

Yelp
Went there yesterday for take out. It was 8 dollars including tax. Huge plat of food including chicken livers and chicken quarter. Had peas, green beans, corn and deviled eggs. Bread also. There was a lot more to choose from. Had tea. Excellent takeout buffet. Enough food for 2 meals for me.

Yelp
We have been needing a good country buffet in Conyers for a while. Came Sunday for lunch and again Friday night. Price is great - Friday night buffet was seafood. Really glad to have this choice - exceptional value!

Yelp
Just opened 1-08-2020! (Located in the space that used to be Dynasty Chinese.) Tried it today and everything was pretty good! Yay! Let's try to keep this one open. ;-) Definitely a good value. They've redone most of the interior including the flooring. Nice and clean. (Ignore the ceiling.) Good variety of southern choices including fried chicken, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, fried green tomatoes, okra, collard greens, and pecan pie. Veggies and salad stuff available in case you want to eat lighter. One of the nicest things about the place is that all the employees were smiling and friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Recently opened Bj Buffet offers free parking, a large attractive dining room, very friendly and welcoming staff, and all you can eat from the buffet. Several different meats and many vegetables are available as well as a salad buffet and fruit buffet, and a desert buffet. Some items change daily. My favorites have been the pork and onion, salsbury steak and gravy, mashed potatoes, apple salad, mandarin orange slices, green beans, meat loaf, and fried green tomatoes. The sweet tea is good as well. The decor is pleasing and the music appropriate for dining. I have dined there twice since they opened. As you go in, someone will ask you if you want a booth or table and they will seat you while taking your drink order. Then you go to the buffet and take a plate and start selecting a delicious meal :) The restaurant is easy to find. Turn at the BB&T sign, go about 100 feet to the next road and turn right and Bj Buffet is immediately on your left. Hours are posted on the front door and are from 11:00am to, I think, 8:30pm. 1823 Highway 138 SE, Conyers, GA 30013 (678) 806-5590

Yelp
I've been 3 times. Every time has been delicious. There's fried chicken, steak and gravy, collards, sweet potato yams, mac&cheese, rutabagas, creamed potatoes , fried salmon patties and more. A salad bar, soup, cobbler, Mayfield ice cream. InclUdes drink. Seniors get a 10% discount. Cost me $8.66.

Stafford G.

Yelp
Menu changes and that's a great thing. So many different foods to choose from. This food has to be hand cooked, not canned. My first time was a great time will be back.

Rhyder C.

Yelp
The food is good, not spectacular but good. its standard country buffet fare. the service is great most times, but not always, guess it's that they just opened up and maybe are settling down employment so i imagine it will get more leveled. For the price, $9 total including drink, you can't beat it. the only real knock I have is their inability to get a simple menu out, I mean if your serving the same stuff mostly on different days, how hard is it to open a word doc and print off some? i would highly recommend trying it at least once to see if you like it.
google avatar

Rich N.

Yelp
Very good country cooking. I have been there multiple times. Food is always good. Friendly employees. Great family atmosphere.

Hyun C.

Yelp
Hands down Best Country Buffet in town! Great food and service! This is truly as good as it gets!

Fairy N.

Yelp
I went there yesterday and the lady behind the stand never acknowledged us. I than asked her do we just sit anywhere and the only thing she stated was no and to stand on the rug someone will come get you. There was no "welcome to BJ buffet, or I am sorry I will be with you in a minute, and than after standing for a couple of more minutes and still no acknowledgement, we just left and went to Champion Wings in Lithonia

Jane L.

Yelp
Several of us ladies went here after our weekly Bible study on Wednesdays. The first week they were opened, was great. Lots of food, with good seasoning, kept full on the buffet. The young lady that was working the buffet (white, maybe in her late 30s, early 40s?), stopped by our table and chatted with us for several minutes, but constantly glancing at the buffet line. She was such a sweetheart. We went back the the following week, and what a downhill slide! No fresh fruit, salad lettuce was wilted, and the buffet was dirty. It took us forever to get our tea refilled. And the only one that spoke to us was our server, and she looked haggard. The cashier only said "hey" and "bye". And when I asked aboutwhere the young lady that chatted with us before, was, I was told that she was to old to keep up so she was let go. And although the price is affordable, and they do give a very small senior discount (90 cents), we will not be returning. If you have a friendly employee, you don't just let them go. The other ladies in my group agree, we believe it was because she was a Christian. When someone has God in them, you can tell just by looking at them. We can't support a business like that.
