BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse

This was our first time dining at BJ's Restaurant in Chula Vista, CA, and I wanted to take a moment to highlight what a great experience we had. From the moment we were seated, our server Nathalia M (#188) made us feel welcome and taken care of. She was incredibly attentive, personable, energetic, and clearly passionate about her work, it truly made a difference in our visit. The menu had a wide variety of options, perfect for all appetites, and everything we ordered was delicious. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with TVs throughout the restaurant so you can keep up with your favorite teams while still enjoying quality time with loved ones. Great service, great food, and a great vibe, what more could you ask for? We'll definitely be back!

Celine was such a good server she was kind and got us everything we needed, we had the unlimited soup and salad and the clam chowder and tortilla soup was the best with the bread bowl and the wedge salad was amazing. The Chicken with mashed potatoes and corn bowl was amazing the chicken was so juicy and tender. And the cookies and cream Pizookie was delicious .

3.12.25 update:Food good. Server fine. Lost one pazookie...I think it's called. But all else pretty normal. Did fine with gluten free. Server nice. Confused on gluten free. Brought out order with the fries that are not gluten free... That I asked to be left off. I think they just took them off and didn't change out the sandwich they were laying all over. Sandwich was good. Wedge salad was good. Drink good too.

Always a good spot to come to no matter the time, day or occasion. I've been coming for years and have yet to be disappointed. Great food, awesome service and relaxed atmosphere.

Great service! It was fast and amazing. Alyssa R went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable! She was very knowledgeable in the menu and made great suggestions.

Alyssa is the sweetest server. She remembers customer's names, she gets down to people's eye level when taking the order. She engages with all of her customers. The food is delicious and didn't take long. This is our new favorite place!

Server Marissa was able to deescalate a rough start to our meal with the issues we had at the front with the hostess. She was able to take our order and serve our dinner in a timely manner. I appreciate the service with a smile. She deserves a raise. 👍👍👍

On 6/13/2024, we had the reception for the funeral service of my mother in law. We had about 55 people and bought the $20.99 per person buffet which consisted of one pasta, 4 pizzas, and a tray of Ceasar salad. FIVE STARS for our sever Graciano who was an awesome server and who patiently and efficiently attended to our needs and helped me ensured that the food continues to come out due to the size of our party. Imagine 55 starving people lining up with a set up of only one set of pasta station, 4 pizzas, and a tray of Caesar salad. ONE STAR for the kind of set up that BJ Chula Vista had, where there was only one pasta station, 4 pizzas, and salad for 55 people all at once. If I did not control the pacing for which I requested only two tables to get up one at a time, I am positive that everyone would not have gotten the full spread or at least had the option to choose which pizzas they like. One suggestion for management is to at least set up two sets if the party is big such as ours, which initially was 40 and which I increased to 50 an hour before and then became 55. Imagine 40 people (initially was the count provided which is considered by industry standard as a large group) trying to get food all at once with only 1 pasta station, 4 pizzas and one tray of salad. Furthermore, why were the utensils to get the salad a plastic serving spoon and a plastic serving fork which were too difficult to use when getting the salad? Also, why were a plastic serving spoon and a plastic serving fork also provided for the pasta which was extremely challenging to use for the pasta? Thank goodness our server was quick to get a tong which made it easier to get the pasta .I did not have the chance to request for an actual silverware for the salad since my goal was to make sure that the food is replenished continuously as each table came up to get food. It was such an emotional day after the funeral and I did not think that I had to still proactively handle ensuring that everyone gets food and that the food was continuously replenished due to the type of set up for our big group. I will strongly recommend that BJ at least set up two sets ( pasta, pizza, salad) for a big party to ensure that everyone gets food at least for the first round and that the host doesn't need to work as hard in ensuring that everyone at least gets to have the full set of the buffet on the first round instead of one only getting pasta or had to settle with whatever pizza was remaining since the full spread was not available for everyone to enjoy. Graciano truly was the hero for me that day- He was cool under pressure, mild mannered, and attended to our needs with empathy. The rating of 3 stars is based on the average of (1) service from our an awesome server (Gracianio has 5 stars) and (2) BJ Chula Vista set up ( (which is 1 star).

- Waitress took forever to take drink orders - Was in a hurry to leave table even though we had questions ; Kept having to stop her from leaving to ask questions - smelled drink before handing it to me because she forgot which drink was which.. asked me to try it even after I insisted she get a new drink - no utensils or napkins - has cell phone in back pocket, should be away and out of sight - pizza was soggy

My wife and I had dinner the other night. I ordered the personal pepperoni, extreme deep dish pizza and she ordered the chicken. Parm. both were delicious. Nathalia M was an excellent server. we got seated quickly. I will definitely go back to this location.

Although I had a lovely time with friends, the wait was long on a Sunday. I believe our server Iliana was pleasant and gave good suggestions. No checking up for refills unfortunately. I understand the kitchen would like to bring out food all at the same time, but our salad came out as it's been sitting out for a period of time. Burger was good. Fries were quite salty. They also brought an extra burger that no one ordered! It's a shame because Chula Vista Mall seems to be struggling and their food park is what is doing well. Double check your bill before paying. We were happy to see there were TVs all around the restaurant to catch up on the baseball games we'd missed while watching a movie at the AMC Theaters. Despite this debacle, it seemed busy since it took us 30 minutes to sit down.They missed the mark this day. I'm hoping they work on this next time.

Got there around 9:30p and wasn't seated until 10:15p or later. Host was not friendly at all. You can tell she didn't like her job. The service was extremely slow. Everyone was falling asleep at the table. The food was actually not bad. Drinks were way too sweet. Our waiter was cool , he separated our bills without questions. The overall experience while being on vacation was poor.

I was here for Mother's Day weekend. The food and service was amazing. The staff even gifted me a Mother's Day wine glass! What an experience. We love this place due to the pizookie my kid is obsessed with lol but overall always a good experience. I highly recommend this restaurant in Chula Vista!

Came for happy hour today and it was buuuuuuussssssy! Reed was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service!

Do not recommend ordering take out or curbside here unless you want to wait an extra hour for old & cold food . After having to go in defeating the purpose of curbside because they didnt come out after 20mins from the time given, the order was incorrect. They claimed they didnt have part of it, then once we got it, the ticket on the food was time stamped at almost an hour before. Needless to say everything was cold by the time we got it. Staff didnt seem to care, they were very apathetic. Never again.

Great ambiance and great service. I didn't know which beer to try so they were very happy and willing to let me try the Nutty Brunette and the Amber Oasis; oh man the Nutty Brunette is so much better. Not that the Amber isn't good but I really loved the Nutty Brunette. Oh man, that Jeremiah Red is really good too. Their Happy Hour specials are really good, I typically like the small personal pizza but i tried the fried pot stickers and they were really good. The dipping sauce is fantastic. I didn't have the sliders tonight but they are really tasty as well. Not a huge fan of the avocado egg rolls. I also tried the Graham Cracker S'Mores Pizookie and it was really good. Probably my new favorite.

Dinner with Dad- on Fathers Day. This place was packed, even with using the app to get on the waitlist ahead of time it was an hour wait. No big deal, the bar is open seating, after about 10 mins a table in the bar opened up and we slipped right in. Even being so busy our server did his best to keep up. I started with the Bjs Black Cherry soda which I always get here, it's so refreshing. They used to serve them in frosted mugs and don't anymore so that was disappointing. My dad had the Sunday prime rib special and said "it's as good as any prime rib I've had" and that is a serious dad compliment. I had the personal deep dish pizza with a wedge salad, which was a little small but tasty. The prime rib came with a large pizookie, we had salted caramel, always a crowd pleaser.

Bomb food and bomb service . Not sure what happen to other customers but for us it's been great and they have stayed great. Food came out super fast and drinks did to. The music was cool also so the ambiance was spot on.

Came in earlier in the week for date night and it was jam packed. We ordered in advance with the app and were seated as soon as we arrived we had to wait a bit for our food but overall the app really sped up the process. We wanted to catch a movie and were on a bit of a time crunch for the showing. I had the berry cider and it was decent. Bjs mozzarella sticks are top tier and it was just great food, good service and will def be back and can not recommend using the app enough.

First time here, wasn't very busy. The bar seating was open made it easy and quick for me to get my meal and drink. Ryan was a good bartender and explained the menu and drink items since i was a first time customer. The fried chicken meal was decent besides the corn. It didn't mesh well seemed like it was just thrown in the plate for some color and was not very warm. The TVs were around the restaurant but did not have the closed captions on. Nice over all restaurant.

Unfortunately, this visit did not meet expectations. The pasta lacked seasoning and was served in a thin, watery sauce with minimal flavor. The chicken was overly firm and difficult to cut, suggesting it may have been overcooked or not freshly prepared. Additionally, the service was lacking, our waiter was not attentive and seemed disengaged throughout the meal, which further impacted the overall dining experience. Greater attention to both food quality and customer service would significantly improve the experience. As you can see from the pictures it doesn't look appetizing.

Located at the H street mall, they are plenty of parking. Staff was amazing and friendly. The pizza was actually more filling than expected. Deep dish style with all the meats. Wasnt to busy considering they had a large party they were hosting. Overall great food and service. $$

Took forever for food But biggest slap in the face is the side fruit cup kid got In a ranch cup when the picture on the menu shows a bigger tray

We have been coming to this restaurant for a long time because of the service and the quality of its comfort and attention, I don't mind judging people, much less the care they put into their work, but this day is one of the worst. since the service The Bartender was terrible and the waitress insisted that the measure of the drink they served my daughter was correct because the The bartender told them, they justified themselves with the excuse that there were no glasses of that size and this team was in charge of the named manager David, I attach the photos and you can judge for yourself if my complaint is acceptable or maybe I'm exaggerating and also we never receive plates to eat our appetizers......at this point I don't know what to expect from the food I'm going to consume today.

Jessyln is an excellent server! We came here to celebrate a graduation and she was so attentive and professional. Top-notch service!

You can easily make a reservation online or get on their waitlist. This place was more crowded than I was expecting but probably because the food is pretty good across the board. (Except for the ribeye - go to a steak place if you want a really good steak.) The beer options here are amazing! I'm a fan of a good brown or amber ale. The ambiance is great, especially if you're trying to track a particular game while still eating as a family. Service was not bad. Our normal server went on break, so that caused some issues. Can't go wrong with a pizookie at the end. Overall, this is pretty good place to go.

First time here and it was okay. I didn't really know what to expect and in some ways it met what I was thinking and in other parts it was semi disappointing. Came for the Happy Hour. We told the host this but he sat us in the one section that didn't have happy hour. Which is probably why nobody was in the area besides us. Our waitress walked us to the bar where everyone was. The bar has three really big TVs which all had different games on which was nice. The beer selection for Happy Hour was solid and we guzzled down four beers. Our favorite was the Jeremiah Red. We also had the Blonde, Pirana, and Berry Blast Cider. The food was mediocre. Started with a mini pizza as an appetizer. It was very bready. Then we each had a burger. The brisket burger was much better than the crispy jalapeño burger. I think because it just had more flavor. More complex. The fries were fries. Nothing too special. Ended with a strawberry shortcake cookie. Last who served us at the bar was decent. Wasn't memorable and was chatting with other people who seemed to know her more personally, more than us. A 3 star because of Happy Hour. I imagine the value might be a bit better during lunch time and a little worse during dinner.

Went for Valentine's Day dinner. Made reservations. Showed up on time. Hostess told me it would be a 25 minute wait. Why take reservations if you're not going to honor them. Server was polite and friendly. Did a good job. Food was mid. We ordered 2 deep dish pizzas. They were cold/warm at the least. Dough was heavy. They seemed pre made. Disappointing. Not what I remember them to be. Asian salad was good. Fresh. Pizookie was good. Not great. That was our experience.

Coming from OC where we have so much amazing food as well as plenty of other BJ's, I was blown away by the quality, consistency, and value of the food here. Everything I've ordered has been so good and cooked to perfection . Every staff member has also gone above and beyond. We usually sit in the bar area and our favorite specials have been happy hour during game time, prime rib (weekends only) and the $13 entree specials (M-F only). I'm not kidding when I say I've been here 3 times this week. I truly don't understand why this place doesn't have better ratings. However, upon seeing the profiles of those who left 1-star reviews, my conclusion is that people can be miserable and use their reviews to attack businesses instead of supporting, uplifting and helping improve the few good establishments in a still-developing area with constructive criticism. Maybe speak with a manager or corporate first?

Came with my coworkers to celebrate after a long work week, so it was super busy on Friday evening. The parking lot feels claustrophobic so keep that in mind when looking for parking, albeit not the fault of BJs. Inside is similar - the place feels compact. We got seated quickly but our waiter was giving off weird vibes. He was trying to joke with us but they just missed. The annoying part, which I think is normal with all BJs is that happy hour is bar only - which is annoying to have to get up and go to the bar despite having a waiter take care of the order. The food was alright - we shared appetizers. The wings were a little bland, but the other appetizers were solid. The margaritas flight was only 14 dollars and had some good flavors!

Server was awesome and on fire. The restaurant is a typical BJ's decor. The food was good.

Stopped by for happy hour with a group of friends and was overall satisfied with the service and food. Our server was on TOP of everything. Now, it was a relatively slow time, but he used the time to make sure we were taken care of, which I appreciated both as a guest and former server. (I really wish I got his name to give him more credit) As for the food, it's BJ's so you can anticipate it being about the same as their other locations. I always enjoy the avocado egg rolls, they're filling and tasty. I ordered the Combo Classic this time around and enjoyed it. One of my buddies got the classic cheeseburger and he had no complaints. Our group had 7 in it, and we had no issues being seated. Again, it's a chain restaurant, so keep that in mind when dining here. That being said, I'd dine here again if in the area.

I never usually want to have dinner at BJs but everytime I do end up going I don't regret it. They have this amazing deal and you get a whole entree and pazookie for an unbeatable price. The southern chicken with mashed potatoes and corn is delish! The beer selection is vast, their own pours are good. I like that its a little dark in there and usually the game I wanna see is on the TV. Last I went for the deal they gave our toddler goldfish, fruit and a drink for freeeeee.

So they notified me that they would contact me to make my horrendous visit right, but ZERO ATTEMPTS were made. As I stated before. Never setting foot back in this restaurant or any BJs, if the quality of their steak was bad enough to have parasites, AND cooked in a dirty kitchen (that's coming straight from the manager!). As Elon Musk would say "these guys can all go f*ck themselves!"

We called ahead so our wait was very short. Our water was attentive. Brought our drink orders promptly. We ordered a few things. The fish & chips was a big hit with our daughter the burger was great & a nice size. The chicken parm was good but could have used more sauce. Garlic bread would make it more complete. The ahi salad was delicious. The pszookie deserts were a big hit with all. Overall it was a great family evening enjoyed by all! We will go again!

The food was decent and plenty on screens to watch football. We ordered a few things off the daily specials, so the price was good. Our server was nice enough but you could tell she didn't want to be working.

Really enjoyed afternoon cocktails and seafood appetizers at BJ's in Chula Vista. Valerie and Valerie (her trainee) were super attentive and friendly. Great neighborhood hangout!

Came here around 7:30 on a Sunday night, and it was pretty busy but we only waited about 25 minutes. Our server was really sweet and extended the table when my boyfriend and i wanted to sit on the same side of the booth, even though we were at one of the single, small tables. For drinks, I got the tipsy snowman because it looked cute, but it sure was strong! If you're looking for a girly drink I would not recommend it, but it was still good if you do enjoy the taste of baileys. For food I got the deep dish ziti, which was very flavorful and delicious! The breadstick was a little tough but I didn't mind too much. My boyfriend got the brewhouse Philly and he also liked it. However, I thinking they forgot to serve our food on time because the bread of his sandwich was a little soggy with oil, so we could tell it was sitting for a while. We also waited a long time for our food but they must have been busy. Overall I still enjoyed my dinner and would recommend coming here with friends if you were looking for drinks and some American food.

My husband and I went to BJ's today for the first time in at least six months; maybe even a year. We were really pleased that Alyssa was going to take care of us. She is ALWAYS super nice and gets everything right, every time. She came to our table quickly and remembered us from before...she even remembered that we are part of the loyalty program. My husband ordered the Brewhouse Bowl with Chicken and I had a Brewhouse Philly. The food was great and Alyssa checked back with us a few times to make sure we were happy. And we were. There's not one thing that she could have done better, she was perfect. Thank you, Alyssa, and thank you BJ's, we'll be happy to return again soon.

Arrived for Dinner was hopeful for a nice dinner. Unfortunately bad service, seems the server forgot about us... If you want good service stay clear from here.. So disappointed

My wife and I were visiting relatives nearby and wanted to order take out since it's Friday and many restaurants are super busy. We decided to order on the BJ's app for pickup. I received a text saying that my order was received and another text 28 minutes later saying that my order was being packed up. At that point, I drove five minutes down the street, parked my car, and "checked in". I waited ten minutes, checked the app, and found out my order was ready and that someone would be out soon (no text confirming that the order was ready). Another ten minutes went by and I did not want my food to get cold so I walked in to check on my order and sure enough, my order was sitting on the counter and the man and woman at the counter were just standing there talking. I asked why no one had brought my food out and no response. I was just given my food and that's it. When I got home (again, only five minutes away), the food was not even warm - probably because it sat on the counter for over ten minutes. I tried calling a few times over the next 30 minutes and no one answered. BJ's, I am not happy about the lack of customer service this evening. If it wasn't for the fact that we did not want to drive back and forth, we would have brought the food back. Since you guys didn't answer the phone, Yelp was the next best option. I used to really enjoy the La Jolla location when I lived in that area. After the experience tonight, we will not be back.

On October 21st, 2024, my husband and I went to the bar area as it was getting late and we wanted to grab a quick bite before driving back to El Cajon. The bar was busy but not overwhelmingly so, with 2-3 staff members serving that area. However, it took them 10-15 minutes to even acknowledge us, as they were engrossed in their own conversation. Finally, one of the servers greeted us and took our drink order. He quickly brought our drinks, and his colleague took our food order. After that, they resumed their conversation and even took a shot together (one of their very few "Spilling The Tea" intermissions). My Broccoli-Cheese soup arrived promptly, but the side of broccoli I ordered didn't come until much later, with my husband's pizza. This is understandable and perfectly fine -- I'm just a bit odd in that I like to add extra broccoli to my soup. It's on me for neglecting to communicate that in my order. Our meals were decent, no complaints. The staff was always pleasant when they addressed us, I want that to be known. What was off-putting was that they were right in front of us, just standing there (vs. multitasking job tasks while talking to each other) behind the bar and I couldn't get their attention unless they took a break from their conversation. It was frustrating to be ignored while they chatted among themselves, even though they were on the clock. I understand the need for a break, but it seemed like their conversations took precedence over their duties.

We had such an amazing experience there, In particular we really appreciate and are very thankful for Briannah's!! Exceptional customer service,,not only did she paid attention to detail but was exemplifying Customer service core values which is really hard to see in today's modern society! Thank you so much Briannah keep up your amazing work we will definitely be coming back!

I went here last night with my friends on the occasion of my friend's birthday. We were a party of 12 (if I'm remembering everyone). Our server, Emily G, was very friendly and attentive of all 12 of us! One of my friends is currently in crutches and she stored them someplace aside for my friend for the duration of the dinner, which I thought was very kind and thoughtful! Perhaps that is standard protocol here, but I thought she was super nice about it nonetheless. The food was quite good, too. I got the Nashville hot boneless wings, which were crisp, flavorful, and had decent heat. I admittedly have high heat tolerance, so nothing on the menu was going to make me sweat. But that's okay as long as there's a bit of heat and a lot of flavor! We also were all given a bonus cup of ranch before dinner, which for me personally came in clutch for my boneless wings Big shout out to this Chula Vista location and Emily G for making this such a nice and memorable night for me and my friends! 10/10 experience!

this place has the worst customer service the girls at the counter were rude they didn't ever smile or say welcome. I asked to make a to go orders and was rudely directed around the corner snotty as hell as the two ther girls laughed and played on their phones.. it's no wonder they have to give away free cookies to get business. with customers service like that you'll be closed down in no time..

we had a great server jay to start us off with some water then comes to us & tells us a new server will take over but took 40 mins no server came, the manager had to come & take my order . So slow

Not great service, server over charged our card over $100 and manager took over 20 minutes to even start the refund process and couldn't even provide a refund receipt. We sat and waited just for them to say that

I feel like BJ's is BJ's. Pretty average- not anyone's favorite, but nobody hates it. The brussel sprouts appetizer was bomb, mixed drinks were very strong (primarily the reason I'll come back), and I love that you can get mini pizookies! I have yet to find an entree that gets me excited to tag along with friend or family plans to BJs, but I'm sure I'll be back to try more. Staff was kind, plenty of seating room, a little loud but it's to be expected.

I have to admit, I was nervous about how everything was going to turn out with our party of 20. They were so accommodating and were able to seat us all together. The original reservation was for 12, and at the last minute, we added 8 more. Everyone's order was correct, and the food was served hot. I was impressed at the level of customer service for sure.

One star for food that's not bad and a nice server. Here's my problem, has anyone on here ever gone to a restaurant (fast casual) and been presented with a wine, cocktail and beer menu which contain NO prices?!? The food has prices, what bunch of absolute BS is this? Do they think they are some kind of high end bougie restaurant?!? If you have to ask you can't afford it?! 1. I feel they can arbitrarily change prices in this case - maybe even by table or customer - this leaves me no trust of the establishment. See how that can be ascribed given this absurdity? 2. Management 101 - A lot of folks will opt NOT to order something if they have to ask for the price. Out of embarrassment. Last BS thing - asked to taste a wine - since most of the list is commercial Crap that I'd never drink anyway, I was trying to find something that wasn't plonk, too sweet etc. "no we only allow tastes of beer" The management of this place or maybe the whole chain is f*** bogus and I will never return - I also plan to contact their corporate CEO if I can because this reeks of fraud and poor management. Disgusted!!!

I've been to BJ's so many times but this time hit different because our server was so great! She recommended the kids size pazookie instead of the pazookie trio since we were too full to have more than 2. She also let us sample several drinks and gave us great recommendations for happy hour. We shared the avocado egg rolls, side Caesar salad, couscous mac & cheese with bacon (not pictured), and a cookies and cream and chocolate chip kids pazookie. The food is always consistent here and you get what you pay for. Love BJ's happy hour!!

The food was good, service was fast and the Padres were playing while I ate. Great place to eat with friends or family. I got too full to get a Pazookie. Maybe next time!

I have not been to this location for many years and finally made the visit. Wow they blew me away with great customer service by JD. We ordered some delicious appetizers and came out on point. I ordered some Tri tip steak with broccoli and cheddar soup and was delicious. JD made sure everything was there for our party and provided fast service. Definitely recommend this spot. We finished our meals with some bazooka ice cream dessert and was on point. They play some mellow hip hop music while having a good time with your dinner. Love this place will be back.

Very dirty place the floor is so dirty. looks like they don't mop it at all , look around the bar and it's not gray. it's dirt on the tile . look at the exit door handles and they have grease all over them. if u want Covid go to bjs Chula Vista location.
