Bars and Restaurants in Phoenix to Watch Football | Eater

"BJ’s may be a chain, but the Pizookie — an over-the-top skillet cookie topped with ice cream — is reason enough to visit. The menu runs the gamut from jambalaya to hot sauce-covered Brussels sprouts, and happy hour brings deals on apps, burgers, and endless fries. For watching football, it’s a solid choice with enough options to keep everyone happy." - McConnell Quinn

We came for pie zookie and we got pie zookie. My wife saw pie zookies and wanted to go for dessert. We got a sampler of the original chocolate chip, the caramel, and the cookies and cream. My wife also had an espresso martini she said was very good. Service was very good and the desserts hit the spot. Nothing crazy but warm cookies and ice cream are a pretty good combo to start with!

Pork chop was thick, deliciously seasoned, cooked to perfection… had the asparagus and mashed potatoes. I think the mashed potatoes are from a box. The mashed potatoes tasted like Kentucky fried chickens, which are have a box. My salad was very delicious and dessert was pretty darn good too. Our waitress was extremely attentive and prompt with everything.

Had a lot of buddies say they loved it, so me and my lady decided to check it out recently. I can say the food was great i got a ribeye w loaded mashed potatoes and Mac, while my girl got surf n turn steak n shrimp. The Mac was definitely not a fan favorite between us i wouldn’t recommend that. But everything else was amazing. Also do not skip out on the dessert, cookies and cream pizookie was TOP TIER. Service was amazing and very attentive. Will definitely be coming back soon!

We had a reservation for a party of 30 people. Everything was perfect! Our tables were ready at our designated time. Our servers were delightful. They were knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. If you are looking for impeccable service, delicious food, drinks and accommodating support staff and management you will be happy you came to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. A BIG thank you again to our servers Katie, Aidan and Alexis. A wonderful time was had by all. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

The ahi tuna salad is my favorite. My wife said the smores pizuki was the best dessert ever! Brighton was absolutely wonderful!

Google
The food. I went there for the food. Ordered "Italian Chicken Parmigiana" to go. The Pasta had NO Sauce on it!! When I got home I got to add more sauce to this? It's really disgraceful to call this Italian Chicken Parmigiana, just a disgrace if you've ever eaten at a real Italian families home.

My friend and I went to BJ’s to get pizookie’s. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sweetest waitress named Stacey! We couldn’t decide what to order and she told us that we were able to get two small pizookies instead of one large one for the $5 Pizookie Tuesday deal! She told us what her favorite flavors were (strawberry shortcake and salted caramel) and they were so good! Stacey also was very friendly and made conversation with us so we felt right at home. This was by far one of the best experiences I’ve at at BJ’s and we hope to see Stacey again. If you’re looking for a BJ’s in the valley, this has to be the best one!

Google
I had a great time at the Desert Ridge Marketplace BJ’s. Our server Stacey was extremely fun and personable. My friend and I came in for the $5 Pizookie Tuesday deal. We couldn’t decide between flavors so Stacey told us we could get 2 mini pizookies instead of a large one for the same $5 deal. I had no idea this was an option, and it was so fun to try a bunch of different pizookie flavors with my friend! I would definitely recommend getting 2 mini pizookies if you have kids or just want to try multiple flavors like us! I would also highly recommend coming to this location. Our experience was awesome. All of the staff were very friendly, and service was quick!

Yelp
I'm being a little generous with my stars. I won't be returning to this restaurant. I arrived at 9:30 pm on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant looked inviting and clean and seating was fast and comfortable. Then things went downhill. After waiting a long time the waitress, she finally came to my table saying, "No one told me to take care of you" and she apologized. I ordered their broccoli cheddar soup and a cheeseburger with fries. I'll get to the point. The food was good but everything was unreasonably cold!! Not even warm. The waitress never checked on me so I just finished my meal. The broccoli cheddar soup was very tasty and very disappointing being so cold. The burger was good, cooked right, and cold. The fries were over-seasoned and cold. The waitress had a nice personality and that upped my rating. I appreciated her assistance but wish she had checked on my meal. I noticed she was socializing with patrons at another table and not paying attention to me. The parking lot is huge and there was no problem finding a spot.

Yelp
With every visit the score keeps dropping. Prime Rib Friday huge disappointment. I guess the first time was a fluke. 2nd time was undercooked fatty mess. 3rd time was overcooked and had NO seasoning. Tasted like chewing on a shoe. Winner was the tater from the whole meal. Will come back again, but will stick to simpler menu options.

Yelp
A completely serviceable meal. I got there just in time for their weekend special 3 course meal featuring salad, prime rib, two sides and a pizookie dessert. I had the wedge salad with blue cheese, medium rare prime rib with au jus and creamy horseradish sauce, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Everything was fine. The prime rib had quite the peppery exterior. Tasted fine but this cut had an usual amount of fat. Everything else was fine too. I chose the salted caramel pizookie. It was really good and despite my best efforts not to, I cleaned that plate. Service was completely fine too. Everything came in a timely manner. A solid 4.

Yelp
We had BJs catered at work today. I really enjoyed their little mini sliders and homemade chips. The slider I liked had smoked ham, swiss cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, lettuce and garlic aioli.

Yelp
I have been to BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse many times over the years. Mostly in Houston. This was my first time visiting this location in Phoenix. I stopped by on a Tuesday for dinner. They share a parking lot with a lot of other businesses including other restaurants, bars, and stores. While the parking lot was busy, I was able to find a spot a ways down. Service (5/5): On this visit, I had the best service I've experienced. I wish I remembered our waiter's name as he did a fantastic job. He was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and consistent. Pretty much everything you would want in a waiter. A bit surprising as this isn't fine dining. He's just excellent at his job. Ambiance (3.5/5): We sat at a hightop in the bar area. Pretty much your standard BJ's. A spacious restaurant that is broken down between a bar area and a sit-down area. It's a modern-looking restaurant and well-lit. Comfortable for a meal. Drinks (3.5/5): One of the things BJ's is known for is its beer brewed in-house (there's a nice selection). They also have a nice selection of cocktails. On this visit, I had a strawberry lemonade. It was delicious. Though a little overpriced for a non-alcoholic beverage. Food (4/5): BJ's has a huge menu. I'm talking one that closely resembles The Cheesecake Factory. It can lead to a paradox of choice. I've been here so many times that I know my way around the menu. I went with my favorite dish: the parmesan-crusted chicken which is served with a delectable sauce, sun-dried tomatoes, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. I'm not a fan of broccoli so I replaced it with fries. It's a generous portion. You get two thin but large filets of chicken. And a generous heap of fries and a scoop of mashed potatoes. I took some of it home. A bit over-priced for a chain restaurant but it's a goodie. Another thing I like about BJ's is that they have daily specials and a great happy hour/reverse happy hour. They're also known for their Pizookie's (warm skillet chocolate chip cookies served with various additions and ice cream). If you're part of their rewards program, you will get a free on during your birthday month. All in all, BJ's is one of my favorite chain restaurants.

Yelp
Came for the $13 meal deal (entree + pizookie). It was a slow Monday night. Not too busy. The server didn't seem very friendly idk if she was just having an off day or what. But the service was a decent wait, I wasn't starving so I didn't mind. My burger was really good! So were the fries. I had to ask for ketchup up because they don't leave a bottle on the table. The pizookies also were a MINI, when we were thinking they were personal sized, because that's what was advertised. The music they were playing was like old 2010's bops, and a bit of it was depressing and kept making me sad. Why y'all making me emotional while I eat my French fries!!!! Good meal, but would probably stick to Chilis 3/$10 as it's a better value than this with a mini pizookie.

Yelp
Met the 'kids' and grandkid there for dinner on a Thursday evening. The waitress mentioned thier daily specials and one was half or whole rack of ribs. I opted for the whole rack as I could take leftovers home. The special comes with two sides, and I ordered Asparagus and Chile. IMHO forget the Aparagus, BUT not only was the chile good, it was almost enought to be a meal in itself! The ribs were VERY good and I have a smoker and do ribs myself. AND it came with Onion Rings to boot!!! Every one was happy with their meal! When I asked about two beers, the waitress brought a sample of both so I could decide myself! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
5 stars for our bartender Andrew! He was on top of it and super friendly. Food was delish. You HAVE to get the tomato and mozzarella salad!

Yelp
Nicole L. Was our server tonight and did such a great job! Never had an empty glass and was just all around a great server! Made our night! Oh and the pizza was amazing. 5 stars

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch- you can't go wrong with BJs! They had an amazing lunch deal: entree + a mini pizookie for only $13!! So nice to see good deals still happening in this crazy economy lol. Jayce M was wonderful and very attentive and nice! Great food and service

Yelp
I usually just get the pizookies here and they're always rly good. The food here is okay. Service is always fast and restaurant is usually busy with lots of customers.

Yelp
Macy was forgetful and pushy for upselling. overpriced cafeteria food This BJ's is a huge letdown. The inside is your average BJ's, which is not an issue; just nothing special. Darker lighting and tv's everywhere. The hostess team were friendly and quick to seat us. Our server was Macy. If sales were her job, shed be great! Every time she was at our table she was sure to hit us with upsells. The way she words things is a bit sneaky to me, which upset me once the bill arrived. For nachos she said, "which mean would you like?" instead of something lie, "would you like to add meat?" The former to me indicated a meat is included, as opposed to the latter, which is clearly stating meat is extra. I understand I could have checked the menu for clarification, however, still sneaky to me. Macy was also the kind of server who gets a few things done, then forgets about the table, unless it was time to upsell for maybe a dessert?! Very annoying, especially when she forgets to bring items when asked multiple times. For the food, super underwhelming. BJ's has turned into overpriced cafeteria food. The BBQ chicken pizza felt like it was microwaved chicken breast with a microwaved pizza crust. The tri-tip on the nachos felt like they bought Jack Links jerky bits and sprinkled it on the nachos.

Yelp
Food here was great. My wife got the Parmesan crusted chicken and her friend got the burger. I got the prime rib meal. The prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly. Came with a salad, 2 sides and a dessert!!! Service was also really good. Waitress was really nice along with the others that were helping her!

Yelp
A regular favorite of mine. Service is usually friendly, right from the host stand to the busperson, and fast! Greeted with a smile and a cocktail napkin so your drink won't drip around the table! Love it! Great selection of Gluten Free Pizzas!! And a GF Pizzookie!!! We go there for desert regularly for the GF options! But the main draw is the numerous beers on tap! Whatever your palate calls for, there is a beer for that! The Hefeweizen is always satisfying. The Enlightened Ahi Salad is a perfect blend of salad and seafood. Just right! Another great option is the Atlantic Salmon. We always ask to have it medium rare so it won't be overcooked and dry. Have not been disappointed. For a restaurant with a large, and diverse, menu, the BJ's Classic Rib-Eye is always a pleaser! Worth having with another cold brew! Enojoy!

Yelp
Excellent HH menu, $6 call drinks on Thursdays, great service as always, Thank You, Andrew, Brieton, sp? Sorry, and Nicholas! Great atmosphere.

Yelp
We went on a Monday for their happy hour specials. We were seated immediately and our waiter was very sweet. The happy hour is only at the bar but she accommodated us. The happy hour menu is not very clear and very confusing. We went with some drafts and margarita. I felt margarita was a little too sweet for my taste. For appetizers we went with nacho dips which were excellent, wings which I wouldn't recommend, it was kinda soggy. Also, Mondays they have half off deep dish pizza and we went with the vegetarian one. It was alright but too doughy for my taste. Overall the service is top notch but the food is mediocre and the drinks decent.

Yelp
We were staying in town and went to this BJ's for dinner. Brittany was our amazing server. We went with her suggestion for the prime rib sandwiches and baked potatoes. So good. She was so efficient and polite. I had to give her props.

Nicole ..

Yelp
The food was ok and the service from our server was great... however I had a $100 gc and they couldnt help me make it work even showing it all was clear , the problem was the manager never ever came to speak to me about it .. the poor server was left to try and deal with it and wasn't getting any support.. so if you ever go to this location and use a gc be prepared to pay with a different type of payment considering Jon the manager is obviously too busy to deal with handling it , but it not checking on the kitchen since I couldn't even eat my salad due to the brown lettuce... Every time we try BJ again we are reminded why we don't eat here!

Yelp
I'm typically a fan of BJs, but I don't think I ordered things i liked this time ... I love their pizza, and I need to stick with that! If you've never been to BJs - it's like a cross between a brew pup restaurant and a bar type vibe. Fun place to dine with family. Service was great today and typically always is! We ordered : Wings - I actually liked that they were not fully doused in sauce. Spaghetti and meatballs- just ok in my opinion, but huge portion! That's always nice for leftovers! Burger - my daughter said it wasn't very good.
google avatar

Yelp
They just stopped doing NFL games at BJs which is horrible. They will only show major network games nothing on NFL network or peacock or Amazon. Happy Hour stopped at 6 now instead of 7! Horrible management decision and you will lose me and other freqent guests. You need to listen to the leople who pay you money to eat and relax. Staff at bar is amazing ! Amber and Brandon are awesome and so friendly and attentive!

Yelp
Dined: 11.26.23 We had the Philly cheesesteak (friend enjoyed), California chicken club (friend thought it could be a bit more flavorful), Parmesan crusted chicken (friend enjoyed and ate every bite). I had the jambalaya and while I'd like it to be more spicy, it was a hearty portion (all meals were) and full of Chicken & shrimp with some sausage. I enjoyed my dish and overall my company did too. We wrapped it up with a brownie pizookie which was just the right portion for 4 of us to share. Customer service was good and server was attentive. Will come back to try other things again!

Yelp
Was here again on Thanksgiving eve for happy hour. They also had boneless wings for 5 wings. The root beer glaze was interesting on paper, but didn't work well on the wings. Maybe combine root beer with Chipotle. The main course wasn't good at all. Cheddar cheese doesn't work on a philly and the meat was a bit chewy. Mashed potatoes were decent and one bartender was nice.

Yelp
Margarita flight, Flatbreads and Pizookies, oh my! I feel like I underestimated BJs. I've gone a couple of times, and it wasn't memorable... but it was when kids were younger and demanded more attention. We went recently again and I fell in love. Sitting on the patio, under an umbrella, while sipping a margarita flight, may have helped change my mind. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of alcohol in the margarita flight. So many times, these tour of flights are over sugary and diluted, but this was delicious. Everything each person ordered was so yummy that we passed all of our plates around to share. California club flatbread, bacon jam wings, couscous mac bites, honey Sriracha brussel sprouts, Ahi poke, garlic parmesan bread. Wow. All mouthwatering. Wait. I almost forgot. A Pizookie flight! I chose peanut butter, salted caramel, and white chocolate macadamia nut. But again, you couldn't choose wrong! Instagram: @msbusyblonde

Yelp
I have been to the BJ's many times over the years and they never disappoint. Whether going for a family dinner or drinks with friends, it has always been a great dining experience. It has an extensive menu which ensures there is something for everyone! I had the salmon with rice and broccoli that was cooked to perfection. Others in our party had the jambalaya which they said was spicy, but very good. My daughter had the veggie burger which she enjoyed and two others in our group split a deep dish pizza. The food was so good and the portions were generous, so no one had room for the Pazooki's. We have had them in the past, and they are delicious. They even have a gluten-free option! The service was very good. Our server was attentive, but not overbearing. The restaurant was crowded, it usually is when we go there. But we had a reservation and were seated immediately. It was a little bit noisy, but we were still able to carry on conversation and hear each other.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!! Has the Strawberry Salad and my son had a Club. Very good food and service.

Yelp
It's been a long time, BJ's. Food was better than I remember. The prime rib was very tender and cooked perfect. Clam chowder was very good too. Rack of ribs were fall off the bone goodness and had delicious sticky bbq sauce. Each of the sides from mashed potatoes to quinoa brown rice that we tried were perfect compliment to the meal. Don't forget to leave room for their famous pizookies. We had their peanut butter with vanilla ice cream. Wonderful way to end the meal. Stacy, our waitress gave us excellent service; she deserves a raise. Enjoy! Highly highly recommend.
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
We ordered takeout on a Monday night. We had pepperoni pizza, veggie pizza, and chicken tenders. The chicken was okay but the pizza was terrible. I wouldn't recommend. Very thin, didn't taste good, and looked terrible.
google avatar

Yelp
1st time for me. Hannah was our server. We had the poke, Brussel sprouts. Pot stickers, for our appetizers. We had the brisket burger, wings and French dip for entrees. Everything was great, French dip was just ok. Dissert we had a trio of brownie, chocolate chip cookie and strawberry shortcake, all 3 were amazing. Hannah was incredible. I really enjoyed my visit here and hope to be back soon.

Yelp
The restaurant was jampacked upon arrival. We were immediately greeted by a lovely waitress. There were a few hiccups throughout the evening with the food however, there was a good recovery. One of the soups ordered was not hot, and another entrée was wrongly entered into the computer system, which caused a tremendous delay in the delivery of it.. however one of the restaurant managers was kind enough to comp an item, and offer desserts for the entire table which was a remarkable gesture of good faith. The menu is huge and offer something for everyone. It was a lovely evening in the company of good friends. I just wish the waitress hadn't been so pushy and trying to to upsell throughout the evening. I know she was trying to do her job the best she could, but I find this tactic, exhausting and unnecessary.
google avatar

Veronica K.

Yelp
Food is okay, nothing special. I do like their Strawberry Lemonade! Service is slow. For some reason, BJ's is packed on Monday nights?? We've been twice on a Monday night and it's always popping. We like that they have their own beers, make their own sodas, etc.
google avatar

Zander A.

Yelp
This is the worst experience ever. I asked for my lemonade and never got my lemonade. Then my friend asked for a Pepsi and only got ice, then he asked for a Pepsi with NO ice and he got a ton of ice‍ Any way nice job BJS you disappointed me‍ I will be sure not to come here next time.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to bj's for first time last year. There rewards program through the app are not user friendly. However I went here like 3 times since 2024. The good is very good, recommend the pizza or burgers be good. I did try call corporate to get any issues resolved, but they ignored me unfortunately! Ambiance is good either way pro sports on television. I think they need more gluten friendly options especially for drinks like Moscow mules. Potato vodkas are best! I like pizzookie cookies, they are bit on pricey side. Happy hours could be extended like 3-7 pm allow more people to get off work, etc
google avatar

Elicia N.

Yelp
Wonderful and diverse menu, tasty preparations, and outstanding service. Great for groups, great happy hour!
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
Good hamburger. Better service this time. I like being able to put your name on the waitlist before you arrive. I also liked being able to get a side of asparagus instead of fries! The burger was cooked well.
google avatar

Janet B.

Yelp
Other than a very inefficient hostess stand this is a great choice to gather with friends. The manager was quick to resolve our reservation situation and had I known while we were there the texts I received that we missed our reservation it would have just added more fuel to an already explosive situation. (And we weren't the only ones) Our server was fantastic, food came out fresh and well timed. With so many choices in the area I see why they struggle if you don't even feel heard or valued.
google avatar

Jr W.

Yelp
The food was great and the variety of choices were plentiful. I took my wife there on a shopping trip and she brought our boys back the next time she was out there. They loved it. I had dined at some BJ's in San Diego and some other cities while traveling for business. Always a great experience with a friendly staff.

Yelp
Love This place. Affordable while being a bit upscale. Lunch was great a salad and a individual serving of deep dish pizza. Go for dessert for sure! Once you go you will know! Always great service, great food and nice atmosphere

The Worlds Strongest Man T.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The service is fantastic. I do not think they're using the same supplier for their steaks $31 for filet mignon with salad and a baked potato that's a great price, but I don't think it's the same steak .raised the price and bring the old steak back The pizza is excellent cheeseburgers are great. Chicken is great once again the services is unbeatable. . You need to do supplier for steaks..
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
Terrible and they are going to blame Uber for this... Thanks, Stephanie the manager for passing the blame. Loaded mashed potatoes? Where are the croutons & cheese for the Caesar? UPDATE: Thank you, Rachel, for making this right. You earned our business back.

Tina G.

Yelp
I have been to this place too many times to count! Love all of their food as I have tried most of them, and their customer service is another level of excellence!
google avatar

Nancy W.

Yelp
We were sorry to see the all you can eat soup and salads variety is no longer on the menu We came in for dinner Thursday and had the Ribs dinner full rack special for about $22 It was good and we had Caesar salads and potatoes with it Caden had the kids pepperoni pizza and liked it

Alex C.

Yelp
Felt the need to share this stay because it was the first time I've ever been disappointed with bj's! My boyfriend and I arrived and it took almost 15 minutes to see a waiter (yes we timed after at least 5 minutes, and our timer went to almost 10). There were at least 3 waiters that had other tables around us and no one was willing to help our waitress out and get us started while she was able to catch up. When we did finally meet her, she was very apologetic which made us feel so much better. The second issue we had was when my boyfriend's prime rib arrived, there was a huge slab of fat on his meat, making it nearly 1/3 fat. I didn't even want to take those leftovers home to my dogs. It was artery clogging, thick fat. It was clearly a busy Friday night and I would've loved to sit in the bar instead of the restaurant as my preference but as we were forced to sit in the dining room, I just wish our experience was better.

Hani M.

Yelp
The meal is not enough. It's expensive and not delicious. The service is good and fast.
google avatar

Brandon Z.

Yelp
We've been here several times, more often for drinks than food. We recently came in with the whole fam (my wife and I plus our two toddler-aged daughters). Service was very friendly and prompt. Crayons and coloring pages (kids menu) came out quickly, as did munchies for the kids - goldfish crackers and fruit. Nice touch, they liked that. Large and varied menu, nice drink menu with good beer options. My wife had a poke salad, I started with a clam chowder followed by a steak. Fodd was pretty good, overall. Steak was a bit dry. Our kids enjoyed their (Kraft) mac n cheese. We saved room for ice cream for dessert. This place is close by, the kids enjoyed it, and the food is decent. I'm sure we'll be back.
google avatar

Zak H.

Yelp
Our waiter was outstanding. Most of the food was "good" (salads, wings, kids meal, etc). Bison burger needs to be removed from Menu or replaced by a bison burger that is not a mass produced, frozen patty. Zero flavor and terrible consistency. Didn't let it spoil the meal. Kudos to the entire staff for the attentiveness, including the manager who rectified a slight snafu with our pazzuki

Ed Y.

Yelp
Food was good. My disappointment is with the timing of the food. We ordered two plates of boneless wings as appetizers. I also ordered a side salad with my entree. The salad came out at the same time as the appetizers, which was fine. However, all three of our entrees came out less than a minute later! There were three of us at a square table made for four, so our table was extremely crowded. Disappointed in this, since we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the appetizers and take our time with them.

Yelp
We ordered the Brussels sprouts, wedge salad with tri tip, and the ribeye. The first two were ok. The ribeye was horrible. My wife had maybe two bites total, the rest went to the dog. $70 for a TV dinner meal.
